1. WHO WOULD BE THE
AUDIENCE FOR YOUR
MEDIA PRODUCT?
QUESTION 4
2. The audience for my Media product is aimed towards 16-24 year olds, as this was an age range I was most
confident with having, as Its an age range that I am in. So, this helped me to decide on what would be best
to use and have throughout the magazine itself. Additionally, When I created my audience profile the
majority of people who responded to me where aged between 16-18. This helped me to narrow down my
niche market further. But, I kept in mind what the older people within my targeted audience would want as
well.
3. AUDIENCE PROFILE
• When putting all of the data together after creating my audience profile, I managed to find out what
colours people most wanted to see throughout the magazine and what sort of information they would
want to read within it. This then helped me to make clear decisions for what I wanted to put in my
magazine and what would attract my audiences.
The information that I collected here, helped me to
figure out what people would most want to see
within the magazine. So, when I created my
contents page, I made sure to incorporate most of
the popular options within it. So then, it would
appeal to more audiences within the niche market.
4. AUDIENCE PROFILE
I wanted to have a clear
indication of what colours to use
throughout my magazine. As I
knew I wanted to create a theme,
but I wanted the audiences input
of what colours would work best
in their opinions. So, when I
collected this part of the data and
analysed it, I knew that most
people wanted the more bolder
colours to be used such as; Red,
Brown, Black and occasional
purple. This then led to me using
what they wanted to see within
the magazine, but also what
colours I wanted to use as well.
I also wanted to ask them what they
wanted to rea don a DPS. As, I felt
that this would be important not only
to me but to the audience as well. As
I wanted to see what they wanted, so
I would know what would make my
magazine become popular with the
audience.
5. HOT DESKING
During the process of making my magazine, I asked other people what they liked about my magazine and
what could work better. During this process I only showed people my DPS as this was something that the
audience wanted to read out of anything else.
The questions I asked were
• Do you think that my photograph that I have chosen goes with the interview?
• Do you think the colours on the dps work well together?
• When you first look at the layout for my interview, what is your first impression and what stands out to
you?
• Do you like the idea of a black and white image, or do you think a coloured one would work better?
.
6. HOT DESKING
• I wanted to find out what would engage my audiences and what their initial thought of my DPS was. –
The majority of people said that the found the layout clear and it was easy to read. Not only that, but
that everything flowed within it. Additionally, they liked the idea of having more than one pull quote. As
the thought it broke up the questions nicely and created a sophisticated look. Lastly, they liked my
choice in colours. And how I made the colours complement each other throughout the DPS.
• I also wanted to find out their opinions on my choice of a black and white photograph, as I felt as if it
worked well with the colours on the opposing side, but I wanted to make sure that it was something
that the audience liked as well. As, I wanted my niche market to be interested in my media product.
Additionally, most people found the black and white image to stand out more against the colours and
that it would work better staying black and white, rather than coloured.
7. FOCUS GROUP
• I got some people together when I had completed my magazine. Including my DPS, CP and FC. This was to get their
opinions of it, so I could make any final changes that would make my media product appeal more to the audience. I asked
for their first impressions and asked them a couple of questions to help me make the changes that they would want to
see. This helped me to figure out my audience more personally, and asked them exactly what they would want to see
within the magazine and to make sure that I made the correct choices.
Front cover
When I asked for their first impression of the front cover that I had created, they all said that they thought it was
extremely colourful, which caught their eyes straight away and alternatively, that it had bold and dynamic lettering that
stands out for them. They also liked the amount of stories I had on it as there was just enough so it wouldn’t become
cluttered.
Contents page
Their first impressions of the contents page was that they liked the amount of information within it, as they found that
it would make the magazine more interesting and unique. They also liked the way that I kept the colours the same
throughout my media product, with the use of the purple in places to give my magazine its own unique style.
Double Page Spread
Their first impression was that they like the use of the photograph and how I made the colours go well together.
Additionally, they liked how my writing was spread out in sections and it was clear as to what section of the interview
you were reading.
