How did i attract my audience
1.
2. To attract my audience I used a clear colour scheme mainly consisting of red due to
this being a popular colour amongst my questionnaire and it being a colour on many
grime magazines (which I found out during my preliminary research). I also used a
clear main image/ artist. The artist is very suited to the magazine as it is someone
with their hood up looking down. They also are part of the age group in which grime
music is associated with/ popular within. Personally I would say I achieved my target
in terms of what I wanted from a music magazine as my magazine is simple but
authentic at the same time.
As mentioned before I did market research before creating my magazine. The way in
which I carried it out was by creating a questionnaire on a website called Survey
Monkey. Survey Monkey is a free online survey maker (It is only free if you have a
survey of 10 questions and under) which was suitable for me. Once creating the
survey I sent it out to lots of people within my school (As I figured the more results
the better). I then used the responses to make my magazine in an effective way. I felt
it was important that my target audience helped build the magazine as they are the
ones who would be interested in it therefore it was important to incorporate there
tastes and preferences.
3. I also attracted my audience through mode of address. For example on the front
cover I used “We get down and dirty with…” instead of “Interview with”. Slang was
used throughout my magazine as I thought that was a vital factor to a successful
magazine (some of the words I used included “wicked” and “buzz”. Furthermore
Iconography was a vital factor in attracting my audience in terms of the front cover
as it has a “stereotypical” grime artist on the front and the results from my survey
show that people would be more incline to buy a grime magazine if there is a
successful artist on the front cover.
I also did a focus group to attract my audience. I felt despite getting peoples
feedback on computer that it would be beneficial seeing peoples reactions and how
they felt about certain things face to face. The focus group helped with the layout of
the magazine where as the questionnaire helped with common conventions.
