10. How does your media product
represent particular social
groups?
11. • My magazine is aimed for English
people between the ages of 15-28
• I have represented this by having
English bands on the cover and young
people on the cover, contents page
and double page spread
12. What kind of media institution
might distribute your media
product and why?
Question 3
13. I believe that IBC media would distribute my magazine. I
think this because they already distribute NME magazine
which is quite a lot similar to my magazine as we both use
similar conventions, genre and target audience.
My magazine would be best advertised on the internet and
TV, on music channels, this is so my target audience would
be more likely to see it.
I believe that if my magazine was distributed nationally then
there will be a larger amount of my target audience, it should
not be internationally distributed because it is a heavily
English magazine and will feature mainly English acts.

your media product?

20. How did you attract/address
your audience
Question 5
21. I asked my target audience what they would like from a
magazine, they said that they would like information about
existing and new acts. So using my target research I will
include both relevant and new artists to information on
artists they already like and introduce them to new acts.
My magazine addresses this by listing well known acts of a
similar genre and stating that there will be a segment on
fifteen new artists to watch.
After my rough cut my target audience told me to change
many things about my project. For starters the name “the
walrus” and the font it was wrote in to something more
accessible and similar to the genre. I was also told to change
the overall colour scheme to something that melds together
more.
22. On my contents page I was told to change the
background images font and colour scheme, lastly on my
double page spread I was told to add a drop capital and
add text quotes.
My images attract my target audience by using bight colours
and interesting features such as shallow focus and a
background.
I have chosen to use a informal language style to connect to
my audience and give the magazine a relaxed and
approachable feel.
The overall message of my magazine is that buying this
magazine will give not only an insight into the audiences
favourite bands but help them discover new bands in a
similar genre that they will enjoy.
