3. Within the opening of the virtual revolution, montage footage is use
to establish the scene and connote the energy of area being
entered into. The shots are a mixture of both stationary and
handheld depicting the variety of life that inhabits the area.
Furthermore every shot showcases movement highlighting the
towns progression and hardworking atmosphere. Giving the
audience the connotation there is a high-level of community
working together as well as, and most significantly, getting by
successfully.
4. Additionally the more fast paced quick cuts used during the
montage concerning the connection and potential of the internet;
connote the speed at which the change is occurring. This editing in
conjunction with the visuals explains the topic to the audience
whilst the voiceover allows the audience to gain a greater
understanding of what is being shown. The montage incorporates
key points being discussed through the use of talking heads each
providing there own summarised view.
5. In our own production we hope to utilise the montage techniques
demonstrated. It should enable us to establish the different settings
of our interviewees as well as provided a more gradual visually
pleasing transition from one idea to the next. Furthermore a
montage using the talking heads specifying brief individual ideas
could be either a simple way to introduce the documentary or a
way to summarise the thoughts suggested towards the end of the
production.
