2. VISUAL LINKS BETWEEN VIDEO AND
DIGIPAK
SETTING Another visual link created between the setting on the
digipak and in the music video is the houses of
parliament/Big Ben. As shown, we had filmed at
Southbank, along the Jubilee Bridge, which featured this in
the background. This is also shown in the motif I had
created of the London skyline on my digipak.
There’s a visual link created
between the setting on the digipak
and the music video as there are
aspects of an urban environment
such as tower blocks, alley ways
and lifts (generically linked to
council estates. This reflects the
UK Rap/Hip Hop genre, and
reflects the artists lifestyle.
3. VISUAL LINKS BETWEEN VIDEO AND
ANCILLARY
COSTUME
Another visual link between the
costume in the music video and
the ancillary is the black G-
Shock watch worn by the artist.
This watch brand is popular
amongst London teenagers in
the 13-18 age range. This fits
within the age range of our
target audience, therefore, they
would be attracted to this, and
they would notice the watch in
both the music video and
ancillary.
Noticeably, there is a clear visual link between the costume the artist is
wearing in the music video and in the ancillary.
This Chicago Bulls snapback hat is worn in two different settings in the
music video, and again for the ancillary shoot.
4. VISUAL LINKS BETWEEN VIDEO AND
ANCILLARY
LIGHTING&SHOT
TYPES
As shown, the visual link
between the lighting are all
extremely similar. They are
all of a darker scale, and
the music video shots have
been filmed using the dedo
lights so they are of the
same lighting.
The lighting on the
ancillary are all slightly
desaturated.
Another visual link is the
shot types. A music video
convention is to have as
much close ups as
possible, which we had
also used close up images
for our ancillary.

texts?
7. Would the target audience would be attracted
to them?
If so, why? If not, why?
The genre of our artist and music video is UK Rap/Grime/UK Hip-Hop. Our core
target audience is male teenagers aged between 14 and 19; it will appeal to
males from the UK, from a working class-middle class background just like the
artist himself. The wider target audience are young females aged between 17
and 25 and will also be interested in the genres UK Hip-Hop and UK rap.
Therefore, I think the target audiences will be attracted to the ancillary products
as it will relate to them in terms of featuring motifs of London and also tower
blocks in the fonts. As most of the target audience will be from a tower
block/estate upbringing, they would be relating to the target audience and
ancillary work. They’d also be attracted to it as the colours are dark and quite
dull, however it matches and co ordinates with the genre. The artists costume
(snapback) that is worn in both the images used for the digipak and magazine
cover, would attract the target audience as they are familiar with hat and will
probably own one similar.
