2. Computer software definition
•Is a generic term for organized collections
of computer data and instructions, often broken into two
major categories: system software that provides the
basic non-task-specific functions of the computer, and
applicationsoftware which is used by users to
accomplish specific tasks.

4. System Software definition
• Is a type of computer program that is
designed to run a computer's hardware
and application programs. If we think of
the computer system as a layered model,
the system software is the interface
between the hardware and user
applications.

5. System Software Examples
• Microsoft Windows - is a metafamily of graphical
operating systems developed, marketed, and sold
by Microsoft.
• Linux - is a freely distributable, cross-
platform operating system based on Unix that can be
installed on PCs, laptops, netbooks, mobile and tablet
devices, video game consoles, servers and more.• Mac OSX - is version 10 of the Apple Macintosh operating
system . OS X was described by Apple as its first "complete
revision" of the OS since the previous version.
• MS-DOS - is a computer operating system
by MicrosoftCorporation. It stands for "Microsoft Disk
Operating System", and came from an operating
system Microsoftbought called QDOS.• BIOS Software - is the program a personal
computer's microprocessoruses to get the computer system
started after you turn it on.

6. Application Software definition
• Is a computer program designed to perform a
group of coordinated functions, tasks, or
activities for the benefit of the user. Examples
of an application include a word processor,
a spreadsheet, an accounting application,
a web browser, a media player, an
aeronautical flight simulator, a console
game or a photo editor.

7. Application Software Examples
• Opera - is known for being fast and stable.Opera is
available for a number of operating systems, including
BeOS, Symbian OS, Linux, Mac OS, OS/2, Solaris, and
Windows.• Microsoft Word - is a graphical word processing
program that users can type with.
• iTunes - is also used to purchase digital music files or
subscribe to podcasts through Apple's iTunes Music Store.
• Point Blank - is a game software that fast-paced online first-person
shooter, which is very similar in terms of gameplay to Counter-Strike. It
also features destructible and dynamic environments, as well as deeper
character and skill customisation options.
• Photoshop - An image editing software developed and
manufactured by Adobe Systems Inc. Photoshop is
considered one of the leaders in photo editing software.
