2. Research on our chosen band. Our band are called the Howl Project. They have a myspace which we used too listen to their songs before we e mailed them about the project. They were really helpful and thought the project was a great idea. We thought their song ‘Avoid the eyes’ was really amazing and brainstormed a few ideas for the video. We first met them at a music studio in Norwich where we watched them rehearse a number of songs. We filmed them doing this. They were very professional and we were blown away with how well they performed live. They were really friendly and after some discussion we decided too pick a more recent song of theirs and they were excited about the video and came up with many ideas. Their song is called “Calling Out”, which is also featured on their myspace. They have sent the lyrics and we are in the process of doing some storyboards for the video. When we next meet we will present them with some ideas. We are hoping they will be impressed as we want them to have lots of input with the video as they would like to promote the finished result on YouTube and possibly their myspace.
3. About the Band. They do lots of gigs in pubs such as the Queen Charlotte and also have a homepage on Google. Their music genre is Indie. They are very reliable and have lots of studio recordings of their tracks. They Performed Live at Hachfest 2009. They are based in Norwich, East Anglia, United Kingdom. They said their style of music is “A grudge fight between Wire and KC & The Sunshine Band in Patti Smith's loft.”
4. The band’s development. SPRING, 2007: Howl Project begins when KIRK-SPRIGGS (Chief Executive of Funk) and SPELACY enter the rehearsal cell together after years in the wilderness. Keeping eye contact and unnecessary prattle to a bare minimum, accompanied only by a drum machine and scratchy recordings of Anglo-Saxon poetry, they apply themselves to a rigorously pretentious schedule of sonic exploration. SUMMER, 2007: In due course GIBSON (Pope of Percussion) is lured to the rehearsal cell with the generous assurance that ‘we’ll let you leave if you don’t like it.’ In a matter of seconds he decides to pledge his powerful drumming style, his creative energies, his worldly possessions in their entirety, and indeed the rest of his natural span upon the surface of the earth, to Howl Project. SUMMER/AUTUMN, 2007: Each week, over post-rehearsal drinks at THE SHED, a vision of what Howl might become takes shape. Most importantly, towards the end of this period the band is joined by Ms HANCY (The Voice of Howl). Bracing herself for the long task ahead, she begins the vital work of refining sonic potential in order to reveal the FORM AND MEANING of The Project. WINTER, 2007/2008: An intensely productive phase. The fully operational Howl Project construct their first set of songs and embark upon their concert career, playing several engagements at THE QUEEN CHARLOTTE, THE BRICKMAKERS and A BARN SOMEWHERE IN SUFFOLK. In addition, they make their recording debut with the self-financed vanity demo, ‘All The Rest Is Propaganda’. SPRING, 2008: The band continues to arrange its own live performances in consequence of the possibly illegal lack of interest from LOCAL PROMOTERS. The Howl Stage Act - professional, as those who have been privileged enough to witness it will testify - is enhanced by the introduction of Super 8 film projection at selected venues. QUITE RECENTLY: – New material develops at alarming pace. SPRING 2009 - The EP is recorded with help from MARK. HOWL PROJECT sign to TWEET WOOF TWEET RECORDS (no advance!!)
