Fatal Frost
I have the great privilege of bringing you a book review today: Fatal Frost [http://bakerpublishinggroup.com/books/fatal–frost/379480] by Nancy Mehl
[http://bakerpublishinggroup.com/authors/nancy–mehl/1518]. This gorgeous paperback landed on my doorstep a little over a month ago, a Christian
Fiction book about a woman U.S. Marshall who becomes the target of a local gang, unbeknownst to her. The book strongly advocates for respect for our
police force, faith in God, and healing. It's labeled Defenders of Justice 01, so I'm assuming this is the first of a series that is in the works.
First off, the good stuff: I love a strong female protagonist, and Mercy Brennan fits the bill. She's tough (but can be squishy on the inside when you're

There are places where the author relied on a conversation to reveal a lot of backstory, even though the conversation didn't seem like one that those
characters would necessarily have with one another. There are also bits of prose that don't seem to fit with the overall tone of the surrounding text.
For example, "One false move... and the cartel would order hits as easily as Mark ordered fries at McDonalds" (Mehl, 60). This sounds like the
punchline of a joke, but it's in the middle of a serious section of text dealing with the main character, Mercy, potentially being on the cartel's hit list, or
possibly being a dirty cop. In the context, it seems like an odd choice.
Lastly, I assumed that there would be a strong environmental theme to the book due to the title, Fatal Frost, but the big ice storm doesn't hit until right
before page 100 –awfully far into the book for something that is tied into the title. One of the reasons I picked this book was for the wintery
atmosphere that I assumed would seep through the pages and wrap me in an icy world where I could hold my breath in suspense as I waited for the
plot twists. Sadly, that's not quite what I got out of

What is the Best Treatment for Autism Spectrum Disorder?
"Autism Therapies and Support." Autism Speaks. N.p., 24 July 2012. Web. 18 May 2017.
"What is autism" is an article I found on the Autism Speaks website, an organization founded in Feb 2005 by Rob and Suzanne Right, the grandparents
of an autist individuals. This website is dedicated to advancing research into causes and better treatments option for individual on the autism spectrum
disorder. In this article, they cover many different treatments and support options for those on the spectrum. Autism Speaks stated that the autism
spectrum disorder affects everyone differently and that treatment should be based on their challenges and strengths. Autism Speaks identified

Bryna Siegel is well respected in the autism community she holds a PhD in Child Development and a MA in Education from Stanford University
and is author of four books on diagnosing and treating autism spectrum disorders. Her credentials alone established trustworthiness and creditability
appealing to the ethos appeal she knows what she is talking about and I can trust exactly what is stating based on her educational and experience in
the field. This book covers fundamentals of learning for individuals diagnosed on the autism spectrum disorder. In this book, she discussed the
challenges individual on the Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) face. The intended audience for this book was the parents and professionals seeking
to find the best treatment for an individual on the spectrum based on learning styles. This book was easy to read and could be easily understood by
whomever reads it. Bryna stated that effective treatment was based on individual's needs. She claimed that, "in order to help individuals on the
spectrum that we must identify social autistic learning disabilities" (Bryna). Which were identified as Autist learning disabilities of communication
and autism learning disability and skills of daily living. Bryna mentioned methods such as Applied Behavioral Analysis Therapy which utilized
discreet trials and training methods. I was quite impressed with the amount of knowledge this author expressed. This book had a lot of the logos
appeal, she had a lot of facts and evidence which backed her claims. The book itself was very informative and effective with a serious educated

For this assignment I read the book reviews Limits of Endurance 'Defiant,' by Alvin Townley; He Accused 'An Officer and a Spy,' by Robert Harris;
Breaking In 'The Burglary,' by Betty Medsger. For the book review Limits of Endurance 'Defiant,' by Alvin Townley the reviewer seem to have thought
fondly of this book while writing majority positive things about this novel. The review He Accused which went over the novel 'An Officer and a Spy,'
by Robert Harris seemed to be majority mixed to the point where there are good and bad things through out this review. Lastly the review Breaking In

sitting terrified in a basement waiting for the bombs to fall around them, A snowball fight in a basement, and Mama arriving at school to "yell" at
Liesel. Some of the events in this book have made many people love this book. People love have this book because of the hope, the advancement
of characters, and the complexity of the read. For the book The Maze Runner (Maze Runner Series #1) the reviews are mostly negative. People

Example of Book Review
The Ka, a novel
An example of book review writing can be found listed with most books sold on the Net and on the writer's Web sites.
A good sample book review would pertain to writing your personal feelings about a book that you've read.
Writing a book review is not to be confused with writing a summary of a book. Writing a summary is a totally different matter and that will be covered
eventually in my Articles section.
In my opinion, no real format exists for writing book reviews. Writing help may not be needed. An example of book review variations is shown below.
Some rules do apply, however, and you will see that they are loose and easy to apply.

This was his entire review:
The Ka is a book for all tastes. This skillfully craft novel contains history, science, mysticism, mystery, intrigue, humor and romance in a neat package
that is not just entertaining but challenges your mind and imagination.
Mary Deal has created word images so vivid it is almost like watching a movie. She takes you for a romp through ancient Egyptian history as an
archaeological team finds and opens a tomb in Valley of the Queens.
An archaeological student has the mystical ability to communicate with the ancient Egyptians, and this keeps the story moving at a breathtaking pace.
The Ka is a delight to read. One can only hope that from a writer of this talent, there will be many more books to come.

Fortunately, lots of people write much more, as you can see in this example of book review data that I've put together. Doing so gives the author a
more detailed sense of how their book is be accepted.
A lengthy review – good or bad – can help an author improve their writing.
Hopefully, if it's a review that leans toward something negative, it comes as a pre–review, before the book goes to publication. Then things can be
corrected or changed.

IR Book Review: Find Me By Romily Bernard
IR Book Review I picked the book called "Find Me" by Romily Bernard, because my favorite genre of books are mystery. I liked how the cover had a
face in the background of it, you could tell it was a girl face because of the hair. The cover also had "Find Me" written all over it, so it made the book
stand out a lot. My first impression on the book was that it was going to be a good mystery book just by the cover of it. After I looked at the cover, I
read the summary inside of the book and it just grabbed my attention it was really good, well written, and it didn't spoil the book. I also liked the
quotes on the back of the book, I thought that was a cool idea. This book keeps you engaged and wanting to know more.
Wick's life is going good living with her foster parents, but when her sister Lily tells her friend Tally about Wick's hacking, Wick gets involved in a

how she know about her hacking she told her that Lily told her. "My sister? I didn't even know Lily and Tally were friends, and even if they were,
how could Lily have betrayed me?" (Bernard 91). Wick was telling Tally that's she didn't want to get involved and then she found out who's next, "You

Book Review: The Definition Of Literature Review
1.0: The Definition of Literature Review According to Shuttleworth (2016), a literature review can be a forerunner or a guide in the introduction
of a research paper, it likewise can be a whole paper in itself, regularly will place on the first stage of large research projects, this will allow the
supervisor to find out that the student is on the correct path. A literature review can be portrayed as a report of what has been distributed on a theme
by qualified and credited by scholars and researchers (Taylor, 2015). The literature review likewise could be depicted as the system, procedure, and
improvement by researchers for reading, evaluating, assessing, and summarising scholarly materials about a particular topic. (Nordquist, 2016). There

According to Taylor (2007), the purpose for doing a literature review is want to become an expert and understand your field comprehensively.
Besides, literature review also could show that researcher has done analyzed and wrote a critique the theories or methodologies in the field and know
the point of view related to the certain topic which is stated by University of Arizona Libraries original website (2015). The third purpose of a
literature review is basically to arouse research ideas by researchers to evaluate and determine research questions or hypotheses, which was written by
Cronin, et. al (2008, p.1). So, it could be shown that the purpose and why scholars need to do literature review was almost same for one reason, which
is evaluated and do much of research in the certain field for further acknowledgeable and understanding. It believes that purpose of literature review
could establish the importance and provide a background information about a research topic.

Book Review: Bold Tricks By Karina Halle
After putting off reading this book for over a year, I decided it was time (plus it was just sitting there on my shelf, waiting to be read so I HAD to.)
Bold Tricks just wasn't as good as its predecessors. I am not one for angsty novels but if there is anyone who can make me enjoy one, it's Karina
Halle. She knows how to make angsty situations come off as realistic rather than annoying and bothersome. It's what sold this series to me in the first
place.
Camden, Ellie and Javier have always been complex character. There is no black and white when it comes to them, only the grey. And for some
readers that won't work. I didn't think it would work for me! But Halle has a way of making it work which was why I gobbled up the first two books in

Book Review: The Graveyard Book, By Neil Gaiman
What's this? Oh, it's just the best book in the world. The Graveyard book, written by Neil Gaiman is a stupendously well–crafted book detailing the life
of Nobody Owens, or Bod, a boy whose family has been ruthlessly slaughtered. Bod crawls to the graveyard next to his house, where the inhabitant
ghosts take him in and adopt him, where he lives until Bod decides that he wants to live with his own kind: the living. While it is true that all books
open up worlds of literature, no book does it better than the Graveyard book of leaving you with an utterly unforgettable experience you will never find
in any other book. The Graveyard book accomplishes this task through it's exhilarating, hard–to–put–down nature, it's age appropriate writing style, it's
inspirational plotline, and lastly, it's extremely creative ideas and various concepts found throughout the book.
A book, no matter what kind of book, always has an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There's no other way to put the innovative style of the Graveyard book into words. It's concepts are simple, but to the point and terrifyingly clever.
For example, Fade: An ability that is used to become invisible, only works when no one is looking. As well as this, despite the fact that the Graveyard
book is derived from another book, the Jungle Book, The Graveyard book still manages to be at his absolute best, creating something original from a
derived plotline. The Jungle Book has many characters, problems, resolutions, all adding up to an excellent story, but the Graveyard Book takes it to a
whole new level, by adding all sorts of exceedingly exemplary writing, such as tension, and sophisticated stimulus.
Furthermore, with all the adventures and exploits the Graveyard book, it will have you thinking for days about it, potentially opening up new thinking
ways. The Graveyard book is creative, and it eloquently directs and explains the concepts and ideas found in the

Analysis Of A Man Called Ove
Have you ever had to send away a beloved one to heaven? If so, what did you experience? Were you able to continue your daily life in pretty decent
amount of time, or were you trapped in your emotions and couldn't move on from it? If not so, what would you imagine yourself being or feeling? A
Man Called Ove, a fascinating work of literature by Fredrik Backman, portraits a cranky, grumpy, old man, Ove's journey of meeting life–changing
new neighbor, opening his heart to them, and overcoming the grief and pain from a loss. After losing his beloved wife, Ove succeedingly loses his
happiness and a purpose to live. He tries to commit suicide several times, however, fortunately, they are always interrupted by his new next–door
neighbor. They always look out for him and care deeply about him which leads him out of the depression and remembers again how it feels like to
be truly loved and cared. A Man Called Ove is definitely an astonishing work of literature that has to be read by St. Andrew's 10th grade students
because it has been rapturously reviewed by prominent critics, it has been well–produced as a film, and it depicts the issue our society is going through
with human grief and sorrow after a loss, while assisting the students to form their own standpoint about the issue. A Man Called Ove has received
countless enthusiastic reviews by prominent critics, distinctly by New York TimesBook Review, People, and Publishers Weekly. The New York Times

Book Review : A Review Of A Book Review
Book reviews are just that: a review of a book. They can be used for news articles, blogs, or academic journals. A book review is more than just a
book report. It can give the reader more of an insight into not just the book, but the author as well. Most authors write of what they know. For
example, some authors have backgrounds in law enforcement so they write about cases they know or have worked. Other authors research groups of
people, for example the Knights Templar, and write of what they have learned. Others yet develop a hypothesis and write of what they discovered,
proving or disproving their hypothesis. It is important to remember which genre you are interested in when reading a book review. You may find that

During my research of her, I learned that she has written several other books other than the alphabet murder series. She also has written screen plays, a
fact that was new to me. This shows her diverse background in writing. In an interview with The Guardian about Grafton's book "Kinsey and Me",
Crace describes that "Kinsey Millhone, then, is Grafton by another name. Grafton in a parallel universe.". Crace explains that Kinsey often resembles
Grafton. Kinsey is Grafton's alter ego; saying and doing things that Grafton would not normally do in her everyday life.
Believing in the what the author writes is an important fact for fictional books. Grafton creates well developed characters and places that are
believable and real; even if they are complete fiction. Thompson Writing Program at Duke University explains that believing in the author's world is an
important fact (Writing Studio, 2018).
Duke University continues to explain that you should "[f]inish the book before forming your conclusions about it" (Writing Studio, 2018). This is
especially true. I found that while reading the book, I kept changing my opinion of who the true murderer was, only to have my world turned upside
down with the truth. The end of a fictional book can completely be a twist from what you believe, or want to believe.
The University of North Carolina says that "a review makes an argument" (Center, 2018). In reading the following book review of "A

The discipline that results from those forces, and how that affects all levels of management, does not naturally exist in government. The book has done a
good job of offering the different perspectives to date, but I hope to see more discussion on how to combine the best of both worlds. It is telling
that the essays discussing the role of the private sector in delivering public services are NOT part of this discussion, but found in a separate section
of the book. My only comment on those chapters would be to suggest that our procurement processes need to evolve to better understand what is
being asked for in terms of private delivery of services, why, and what limits there need to be. I hope to see more analysis comparing both theory and
practice in this regard.
As an MP, I particularly enjoyed the chapters addressing questions such as "Do Politicians Control Government?", "Should the Bureaucracy be
Politically Neutral?" and "Is Ministerial Responsibility a Dead Concept?" These go to the core of the relationship between, on the one side, the
politicians and the policies they are mandated to implement by the people who elected them, and on the other side, the civil service, representing the
need for a consistent, effective, efficient, reliable provision of the various services that over time we have deemed to be part of the public service.

(A) Overall the book is well written, and has a lot of good information, but it
tries to find that elusive gap between a very detailed how–to book (which

(B) In addition, Company Command: The Bottom Line, has a somewhat
moral high–mindedness to it which seems to ignore a lot of the realities in

"The One Minute Manager"
Group Process in Supervision EDAD 511October, 23 2008 I chose "The One Minute Manage" because it looked like a short read and it appeared that
it was going to generalize hundreds of different type of management theories into a few pages. This is a short, well written book explaining the
fundamentals of management: make sure your staff member knows what they are to do, praise them if they do it, reprimand them if they don 't, and to
have a training plan to make sure they develop into better, more productive employees. The story is of a young man seeking the answer to the question,

In their mission for a happy working environment and a positive, friendly working relationship with their staff they are afraid and unwilling to
make any objective and constructive criticism. The One Minute Manager points out that it is just as important for staff to get clear messages
about the attitudes and behaviors that you don't want them to repeat as the ones that you do. The secret, of course, is the way in which you do it.
A very useful tip is their idea of "feed forward" rather than "feed back". In other words, don't dwell on what was wrong with their past work or
efforts but focus on what you would like them to do and to be confident that they can do so in the future. In many aspects of business and personal
life there's no such thing as a given or a sure thing. It's a given that organizations should be helpful when dealing with customers, but they don't always
do it. It's a given that employees should be adequately trained to do their job, but it doesn't always happen. Of course it's a really basic management
principle that employees' desirable behavior should be re–enforced through recognition and praise. Where as work or attitudes less desirable to the
organization should be pointed out and corrected. Fundamental yes. Generally implemented? No! As a School Business Administrator I can easily
refer to this book as a simplified resource manual for managing. It takes into consideration the needs of both the

Mankind Divided: Play Analysis
Reviews are meant to show a person's judgment on a specific topic. People make reviews to help the audience decide if they should buy a product
or not. They list various criteria and state the pros and cons of the subject. Regardless of if the subject is good or bad, a review gives suggestions
on how the topic could be improved. Most reviews have strengths and weaknesses depending on how well they know the topic or their experience
in reviewing. Liz begins by talking about how Deus Ex: Mankind Divided was announced at E3 and people's concerns with how the game was
described. She then begins to give a brief summary of what the game is about while trying not to spoil the game for people. Afterwards, Liz starts
to talk about some of the key aspects of the game (being choice based and stealth heavy) and her opinions on them. It is clear that Liz was proud of
how the game turned out and even goes as far to say, "The industry feels a little bit better now that this game is a part of it" (pg.3 paragraph 2). Even
though she says this, she admits that there are a few cons to the game. These cons are: the second half being rushed (which left an unanswered

Life Of Pi : Book Review Of The Novel By Yann Martel
Life of Pi Book Review Life of Pi, a bestselling novel by Yann Martel was published back in 2003 by Random House of Canada. It is always good
for the reader to learn about the authors background to see any connections made to the book. Yann Martel is a Canadian citizen born in Spain who
lived most of his childhood years in several different countries. He lived in places like Mexico, France, Turkey, America etc. and discovered that
writing in English rather than his original language (French) was a better way to express the exquisiteness of life. One connection between the main
character Pi that we see in Martel's real life is that they are both religious, but both have many doubts. Pi believes in three different faiths, Christian,
Muslim, and Hindu, stating that all of them have some truth to them. Similarly, Martel stated in an interview that all religions have some truths to
them, but on the other hand, they all have their faults. The main theme in the narrative is the "survival of the fittest" concept. This is shown through
the intense, extreme situations Piscine will endure to be alive, whether they are horrific things, or heroic actions of bravery and courage. Pi goes far
out of his comfort zone in many situations, putting his morals and values to the test. "It is simple and brutal: a person can get used to anything, even to
killing." (Martel 185) In this situation Pi is brutally murdering an innocent flying fish for food, completely abandoning all his principles. He

Maus Book Review
All i gotta say is, this book is awesome!! I would rate maus a 4.5 out of 5. The book i'm reading is maus by Art, Spiegelman. This book is revolving
around the author's father and his family's experiences in the days of the holocaust. The way the author drags you in by introducing you with a little
family comedy is amazing i didn't really expect much out this book because for many years i've learned a lot about the holocaust and thought that i
knew it all. The author goes his way explaining a different view that i never thought of. The spigelman family are jewish and the way the author
goes about telling their story is by through their memories. I would always try to think what it would've been like as a jew during that time but the
author opened my eyes as i was reading this book it was like learning every tragedy all over again. I reason i rated this book so high ... Show more

This one review made me question myself about my own opinion because i couldn't have disagreed more with the reviewer. He said "it was difficult
to relate to the book and the holocaust because the author made the characters as pigs, cats, mice."(mouse#1). So basically the reviewer is saying that
he couldn't see the connections that were trying to be made with the use of the animals as the characters throughout the text. I would have to say that i
disagree with the point that the reviewer is trying to say, because the author used these animals as characters to show symbolism between the
characters and humans. The cover of the book is a great expamle from the book to show how these characters symbolize humans.(spieglemen Cover.)
The picture shows a nazi symbol with a cat (germans) in the middle and two mice scared down below, it symbolizes that during the holocaust the jews

Also, individuals on this forum often reply to original threads started years ago. Unlike some forums, this is actually encouraged by the staff members,
but it makes following a thread difficult at times.
Compared to Traditional Reviews The reviews I read on the forum were less concerned with a succinct, comprehensive overview of the book like one
would expect in a professional review on a site like Kirkus. Rather, they focused on an emotional attachment to the book as a reason to review or
recommend it to others. For example, in a discussion on Charlotte's Web, one individual explains that she hated the book because she was forced to
read it several times in elementary school (evie, 2004). Although the opinions on the forum were hardly reviews in the professional sense of the word,
I was surprised that they so frequently included some sort of visceral reaction to the book. Often there was little explanation concerning the particulars
of the story and the author chose to focus instead on the fact that a main character made them angry or that the ending was unexpected or happy. It is
difficult to determine which review has the greater authority. If an individual were simply trying to discern whether the plot would be interesting, then
certainly a professional review would be more authoritative. However, the conversational reviews I read between friends reminded me of the power of
a personal opinion. While

Case Study : Situational Analysis Of Carolina Pad
Problem Identification Carolina Pad, a maker and distributor of school supplies, had limited promotional budget but wanted to boost its marketing by
having bloggers write reviews on its website about its products. As the company's first director of brand management, April Whitlock received requests
from mommy bloggers for financial support to cover their travel expenses to attend the Type–A Mom Conference. In return, these mommy bloggers
would commit to promote Carolina Pad's products at the conference and through blogs. Whitlock wonders if she should request additional funding to
pay the bloggers or if she should refused the requests. In the next section, the author will apply the SWOT model to assess the strength, weakness,
opportunities, as well as threat that Carolina Pad is facing. Situational Analysis of Case Data Strength Bloggers' promotion encourage the potential
consumers to try the promoted products Bloggers' promotion brings more visibility of the products Bloggers' promotion is cost–effectiveWeakness
Consumers' trust of the company would be impaired The company would hurt its reputation if the bloggers disclose how much they were paid The

writing comparative reviews for competitors In summary, by having these bloggers writing reviews, Carolina Pad would be able to gain more media
exposure for its products. Because of the influences of these bloggers on their followers, the followers trust the bloggers and would likely to try the
products they promote. Hence the increasing visibility of Carolina Pad's products led to the rise of its sales. In addition, this promotion process is
highly cost effective comparing to marketing through traditional media. The weakness being that some of the bloggers would possibly write negative

Book Review A thesis can be defined as something an author tries to prove to their audience. A History of the World in Six Glasses by Tom Standage
provides a very brilliant thesis. Tom Standage's thesis is to inform the audience reading the book about the six vital drinks that helped make up history.
He explains this by showing how the drink influenced major events around the globe. He begins with beer which the oldest from the six drinks and
ends with the youngest drink Coca–Cola. Standage explains how beer was important in the adoption in agriculture and the beginnings of civilizations.

In the Arab world coffeehouses were hotbeds of gossip, rumor, political debate, and satirical discussion. Europe's coffeehouses later functioned as a
place for information exchanges for scientists, businessmen, writers, and politicians. It also later became a mailing address. Coffeehouses were the
centers of self–education, literary and philosophical speculation, and commercial innovation and in some cases, political fermentation. Coffee

helped encourage discussion, speculation, and exchange of ideas. Such discussions also allowed scientist to attempts and try out half–formed theories

Alexander Hamilton As A Political Prophet Essay
Alexander Hamilton as a Political Prophet
January 11th, 1757, the supposed day that a founding father, an American statesman, and the creator of the nation's financial system was born; his
name, Alexander Hamilton. But, before all of those things came to be true, Hamilton was just a boy with an unexciting background. Mr. Hamilton
was born in the Caribbean Islands of Nevis to James Hamilton and Rachel Fawcett. He had a normal childhood, spending most of his youth on the
island of St. Croix where his mom died when he was only about 11 years old. After his mom passed away, Hamilton took his first job as a clerk for
the Cruger's business. As a clerk, he would track the business records, and coordinate business efforts between the merchant ship captains, government
officials, and planters. Here, is where Hamilton would find his big break. Cruger and the local minister recognized how smart he was and pushed and
pulled to get him to leave St. Croix and off to New York City. Not taking too much time to agree, Hamilton left his hometown in the year of 1772, to
never return again.
Arriving in New York, Hamilton attended many schools, but eventually accepted and attended King's College where he stayed for a brief amount of
time before he joined a local New York militia to fight in the American Revolution. A starting point to a solid military career. After serving as an
artillery captain, he began to move up the ranks until he landed the position of General George Washington's military

Book Review: The Book Thief
"Liesel stood up and also raised her arm. With absolute misery, she repeated it. "Heil Hitler". It was quite a sight–an eleven–year–old girl, trying not to
cry on the church steps... "(Zusak, 2005, p.40). "The Book Thief" fixates on the life of a young girl named Liesel. Throughout the book, communication
, cultural awareness, and empathy are concepts that are stained across the pages. The conversations and language of the characters captivate the reader.
Communication is a polysemy. Language, symbols, and objects are mediums of communicating. Language conveys the thoughts, feelings, and
interests of the speaker. Vernacular can be formal or informal. The audience is a factor when communicating. We need to ask ourselves, "How will my
audience best understand my message"? Being able to converse with others is a wonderful occurrence, however, one's speech can be misconstrued.
Words can have multiple meanings, and confusion can arise. How an individual conveys the words can alter their meaning. Tone, or how one conveys
the words, is crucial. Did your emotions coincide with the words you spoke? Words have consequences. The words that escape from our mouth can
have a negative or positive impact. How one speaks, not only influences the receiver, but it also reveals something about the sender. Communication
may not entail vocal projection. "Communication involves nonverbal messages, which include touch, facial expressions, eye behavior, body posture, and

CP English 10– P5 13 October 2017 The Book Thief Summer Reading Essay In The Book Thief ,by Markus Zusak, Death explores the world of
Liesel Meminger and how she interprets the troubles of her time. In the book Death roams around Germany and is intrigued by Liesel's story. Liesel is
a young girl from Germany with a passion of reading books, and she has just moved and is getting used to her new town. Death is a caring character
that shows his affection for people, he shows an opinion on the pain of war and killing, and also shows an opinion on the change of children in
Germany. Although Death is not the most pleasant name in the book he cares for people, he is never happy to take a body. Whenever Death is taking a
soul he tells a story of why he does not enjoy to take souls. Or what he feels when he is taking a soul from it's body "When their fingernails had
scratched at the wood and in some cases were nailed into the sheer force of desperation, their spirits came toward me, into my arms, and we climbed
out of those shower facilities, onto the roof and up, into eternity's certain breadth." (Zusak 349). This show's Deaths thoughts to the reader. He is able
to show what he is feeling as he swoops the souls out of the people's body's. Having Death as the narrator gives you much more knowledge on the

The animals communicated both externally and internally. Communication channels such as word of mouth was utilized to transfer information and
messages, for example Mr. Whymper acts as an intermediary between Animal Farm and the outside world, he receives and pass on communication
from Napoleon to the other humans and spread rumors about the activities on the farm, as well as collect and sell eggs. Also, the pigeons were used as
messengers to spread news about the rebellion to the other animals on farms across England, which caused animals on the other farms to lash out and
rebel against their human masters. Napoleon and Snowball conducted meetings every Sunday with all the animals where the work for the upcoming
week was planned out and resolutions were put forward and debated by the pigs, and everyone voted for the resolution symbolizing equality among the

were playing a game. Wes caught her and not knowing what to do, punched her in the face. Joy, Wes'mother was very upset because Wes had hit a
"girl", and set him to his room. Wes' father calmed Joy down by saying that Wes didn 't know what punching a girl like that meant. Wes ' father
came up to speak to Wes about his behavior, as he knocked on the door and entered he call Wes his Main Man. The author went on to say that the
memory of his father named Westley speaking to him after he had punched his sister was only one of two memories he had of him. The other was
him watching his dad die. Westley had not been feeling well, and eventually drove himself to the hospital. The hospital staff did not know what to
make of his symptoms, so for his sore throat they numbed it for him to relieve the pain and sent him home to rest. Later he collapsed and passed away
from an acute epiglottitis. His death affected his entire family.
Wes spoke about how his mother had emigrated to the U.S from Jamaica and had to learn how to fit in with the other kids and society. We were given

Gone into History What distinguishes a good read from great literature? James Patterson and Michael Ledwidge wrote a novel together named Gone, it
was published in 2013 by the Hachette Book Group. Gone is an important piece of American Literature with their short, attention grabbing storylines.
They use a colloquial style of writing that will have you feeling as if the story could be real, and their short chapters give an impression of it being
fast paced and keeps your attention, lastly their choice of crime thrillers gives us heart racing suspense with all the action in their story line. James
Patterson and Michael Ledwidge's, Gone, is the sixth novel in the Michael Bennett series. The first book series, Step on a Crack, Michael Bennett
must free the celebrities and billionaires held hostage and the first lady's funeral. The second book series, Run for Your Life is about a serial killer

Review Of Elaine Pagels The Christian Revelation To John:...
The Christian Revelation to John, The Book of Revelation, reveals the world coming to an end through a variety of spiritual visions. Revelations,
written by Elaine Pagels summarizes the events taken place during John's revelation and relates it to ancient history. Elaine Pagels highlights main
content from the messages, the seals, to the trumpets, while providing historical background. The main argument of Pagels analysis is that The Book of
Revelation clearly portrays the war between the Jews against the Roman Empire. This is evident because Pagels explains that the visions John had
embodies events that represent the corrupted Roman Empire. Furthermore, Pagels' analysis provides clear historical evidence from the past and is
able to properly cover questions readers are concerned about in The Book of Revelation. However, Pagels lacks in variety, as she only uses historical

uses to prove her argument were the signs John witnessed of a woman clothed in sun, being intimidated by a dragon with seven heads, followed by

numbers six hundred sixty–six, representing Caesar Nero, a Roman Emperor. These beasts brainwashed the minds of the people to praise them and

The reaction of the curators' fellow academics largely ranged from mixed to positive, with criticism being much more nuanced and muted than the
comment books and national press. Former Librarian of the United States Congress and Historian, Daniel Boorstin, was a notable exception, who led
the charge against the exhibit commenting in the first guestbook that it was "perverse, historically inaccurate [and] destructive." Most academic
reviews were positive, especially praising the catalogue which provided considerably more nuanced and detailed analysis that the wall texts. Some
historians found it hard to see what all the fuss was about, with Byron Pierce remarking that the ideas expressed in the exhibit were "hardly

Similarly, in the introduction, Broun stated that the show dealt with issues that "America still struggles with today" while Truettner stated "Today, a
century after America's creation myth was ushered into the world, we struggle with its inadequacies and insensitivities," indicating that the exhibition
was indeed making a comment on contemporary society. This opened up a powerful line of attack against the curators in the comment book with one
guest writing, "It is ironic that an exhibit which accuses all American frontier art as being the lowest form of false propaganda should itself resort to
propaganda of the most obvious, most popular kind." (in footnotes another accused the curators of doig exactly what they accused the artists of doing)
The historian Thomas Vale mounted a similar criticism, wondering "what 'hidden agenda's' lurk in conscious or subconscious minds of the writers" if
one were to apply the same scepticism TWAA applied to Western artists. Vale concludes that, much like the artists, the writers were simply reflecting
the social concerns of their times. As displayed throughout this dissertation, this was very much the case and had the curators acknowledged this, they
may have staved off some of the criticism,

Book Review Of The Movie 'The Jungle Book'
The Jungle Book is a movie based on the story of a young boy named Mowgli who was found in the Jungle by a panther named Bagheera. Bagheera
found the boy the day his father lost his life to a tiger named Shere Khan but before the tiger ended the man's life he was burned by the Red Flower,
man's' creation known as fire. Bagheera had taken Mowgli to the animals he knew would raise the young boy like their own and that was the wolves.
Akeila was their Alpha and Raksha was the only mother Mowgli knew. They raised the young boy to be a fine "wolf" he learned the morals of the
wolves and one of the biggest was "The Law of the Jungle" he also learned to hunt with them. Although Mowgli was raised to be a "wolf" no one
could ever take away his true identity which was being a man. Mowgli went to his first water truce at Peace Rock which meant all the animals in
the jungle were not allowed to hunt or kill anyone and everyone had to get along but as soon as Shere Khan showed up that all went out the door,
he threatened the wolves saying "how many lives is a man cub really worth" meaning man was forbidden in the jungle. Shere Khan began to hunt
Mowgli because he wanted him dead so Bagheera made a decision to take him to the man village and Mowgli will leave behind the only home and
family he ever knew but before arriving to the man village he goes through a series of events. He meets a brown bear named Baloo who saved him

Review of: The Book Thief by Markus Zusak
It seems sometimes like the market for young adult literature is written down to the readers, almost in a condescending manner. That is why a
book like The Book Thief by Markus Zusak is so refreshing in this sea of cookie cutter romances and fantasies. While classified as a young adult
novel, it deals with very serious themes. The book's cover comes printed with this label: "It is 1939. Nazi Germany. The country is holding its breath.
Death has never been busier, and will become busier still." It is a dark allusion to what is to come. But Zusak makes this story more accessible to the
audience he is writing to and does this by creating identifiable characters, by bringing humor into ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hans is a passionate, caring man who earns his living as a house painter by day and an accordion player by night. Liesel believes his eyes show
kindness, and is closer to him from the beginning than to her foster mother. He is one of a few in their village who is not a registered member of
the Nazi party, which comes to have serious repercussions on the family as the book progresses. Rosa Hubermann is a stern, strong woman who
looks like a "wardrobe with a coat thrown over it" and would be "cute," but appears perpetually annoyed. She peppers her language with epithets
like "Saumensch" and "Saukerl" and "Arschloch". "Sau" refers to "pig" and mensch is girl and kerl is man, arschloch sounds pretty close to its

mean more money for the family. But by the end, it has become a term of true endearment. Liesel's best friend in the village is a little boy named

Have you ever had to send away a beloved one to heaven? If so, what did you experience? Were you able to continue your daily life in pretty decent
amount of time, or were you trapped in your emotions and couldn't move on from it? If not so, what would you imagine yourself being or feeling? A
Man Called Ove, a fascinating work of literature by Fredrik Backman, portraits a cranky, grumpy, old man, Ove's journey of meeting life–changing

happiness and a purpose to live.

In The Dark Side Of Science Book Review
In The Dark Side of science by Heather E. Douglas that published in the November (2011) issue of The Scientist, promotes the use of forethought on
studies done by scientists. Dr. Douglas focuses on the great need for the studies done to include the negative outcome on life vs just the positive. In a
closer reading Dr. Douglas is humanizing the situation to connect with scientists explaining why we need to take responsibility for our actions.
Dr. Douglas feels it is in the scientist of who discovers the work are responsible for future uses. She goes to talk about how gene science is important
and has done great things to advance humanity. She also states that is it not perfect as a result of there being people that will always do harm; Dr.
Douglas says, "Scientist are responsible for both the impacts they intend and any of the impacts they do not intend, if they are readily foreseeable in

Book Review: I Am A SEAL Team Six Warrior
The book I read was I am a SEAL Team Six Warrior: Memoirs of an American Soldier by Howard E. Wasdin and Stephen Templin. My favorite passage
came from the middle of the story when Howard and some of his buddies helped a younger boy out. It states:
"That evening, the boy next door groaned like he was dying. I knew what it was like to be a child in pain. Screw this. Casanova, a SIGINT medic
named Rick, and I did a hard entry on the boy's house...We gave hime intravenous antibiotics, bandaged his wounds, and injected each butt cheek to
stop the infection. Then we vanished" (Wasdin & Templin 97).
This shows that Howard went against the CIA's orders of leaving the boy alone to help him out. He knew what it was like to be in pain from his
own childhood. He was willing to blow his own cover to make sure that this boy was going to be okay. This shows the more sensitive side of Howard.
From the beginning of the novel, Howard comes across as someone who is hard and doesn't necessarily have many feelings do to what happened in his
childhood. In this scene we can see that he still has these feelings of sorrow, and maybe even understands them more because of ... Show more content

CRITICAL ANALYSIS AND THEORITICAL FRAMEWORKS
DURYODHANA'S ENVY
"What man of mettle will stand to see his rivals prosper and himself decline"
'If envy were a fever the whole world would be ill.'
Envy is an emotion basic to all human beings. Arising from need for self–esteem (Maslow's Need Hierarchy), envy finds its roots in the distress the
envier feels when he sees the good fortune of others. Envy is a strong emotion with high negative effect that overwhelms the envier with mental stress,
tension and depression, making him mentally ill.
Duryodhana is a classic example of how envy in its extreme has the potential to consume a lead to a calamity like the Mahabharata. His envy arises
when he goes low on self–esteem (Maslow's Need Hierarchy) but has a high need for power and achievement (McClelland's theory). Unable to bear
the prosperity and fortune of his Pandavas cousins he indulges in surface–acting and invites Duryodhana for a 'friendly game of dice' and cheats him
under the conspiracy. Also, the perception (cognitive component) that the Pandavas are more accomplished than him leads to the feeling (affective
component) of envy and combined with his Machiavellianism results in his multiple plots to kill the Pandavas (behavioural component).Duryodhan
also suffers

Fatal Frost

  • 1. Fatal Frost I have the great privilege of bringing you a book review today: Fatal Frost [http://bakerpublishinggroup.com/books/fatal–frost/379480] by Nancy Mehl [http://bakerpublishinggroup.com/authors/nancy–mehl/1518]. This gorgeous paperback landed on my doorstep a little over a month ago, a Christian Fiction book about a woman U.S. Marshall who becomes the target of a local gang, unbeknownst to her. The book strongly advocates for respect for our police force, faith in God, and healing. It's labeled Defenders of Justice 01, so I'm assuming this is the first of a series that is in the works. First off, the good stuff: I love a strong female protagonist, and Mercy Brennan fits the bill. She's tough (but can be squishy on the inside when you're privy ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There are places where the author relied on a conversation to reveal a lot of backstory, even though the conversation didn't seem like one that those characters would necessarily have with one another. There are also bits of prose that don't seem to fit with the overall tone of the surrounding text. For example, "One false move... and the cartel would order hits as easily as Mark ordered fries at McDonalds" (Mehl, 60). This sounds like the punchline of a joke, but it's in the middle of a serious section of text dealing with the main character, Mercy, potentially being on the cartel's hit list, or possibly being a dirty cop. In the context, it seems like an odd choice. Lastly, I assumed that there would be a strong environmental theme to the book due to the title, Fatal Frost, but the big ice storm doesn't hit until right before page 100 –awfully far into the book for something that is tied into the title. One of the reasons I picked this book was for the wintery atmosphere that I assumed would seep through the pages and wrap me in an icy world where I could hold my breath in suspense as I waited for the plot twists. Sadly, that's not quite what I got out of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

She claimed that, "in order to help individuals on the spectrum that we must identify social autistic learning disabilities" (Bryna). Which were identified as Autist learning disabilities of communication and autism learning disability and skills of daily living. Bryna mentioned methods such as Applied Behavioral Analysis Therapy which utilized discreet trials and training methods. I was quite impressed with the amount of knowledge this author expressed. For this assignment I read the book reviews Limits of Endurance 'Defiant,' by Alvin Townley; He Accused 'An Officer and a Spy,' by Robert Harris; Breaking In 'The Burglary,' by Betty Medsger. For the book review Limits of Endurance 'Defiant,' by Alvin Townley the reviewer seem to have thought fondly of this book while writing majority positive things about this novel. • 4. Examples of Book Review Example of Book Review The Ka, a novel An example of book review writing can be found listed with most books sold on the Net and on the writer's Web sites. A good sample book review would pertain to writing your personal feelings about a book that you've read. Writing a book review is not to be confused with writing a summary of a book. Writing a summary is a totally different matter and that will be covered eventually in my Articles section. In my opinion, no real format exists for writing book reviews. Writing help may not be needed. An example of book review variations is shown below. Some rules do apply, however, and you will see that they are loose and easy to apply. On this page, you will find reviews pertaining to my ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... ~~ Joseph J. Ursprung, Phoenix, AZ This was his entire review: The Ka is a book for all tastes. This skillfully craft novel contains history, science, mysticism, mystery, intrigue, humor and romance in a neat package that is not just entertaining but challenges your mind and imagination. Mary Deal has created word images so vivid it is almost like watching a movie. She takes you for a romp through ancient Egyptian history as an archaeological team finds and opens a tomb in Valley of the Queens. An archaeological student has the mystical ability to communicate with the ancient Egyptians, and this keeps the story moving at a breathtaking pace. The Ka is a delight to read. One can only hope that from a writer of this talent, there will be many more books to come. ~~ Joseph J. Ursprung, Phoenix, Arizona _______________ Fortunately, lots of people write much more, as you can see in this example of book review data that I've put together. Doing so gives the author a more detailed sense of how their book is be accepted. A lengthy review – good or bad – can help an author improve their writing. Hopefully, if it's a review that leans toward something negative, it comes as a pre–review, before the book goes to publication. Then things can be corrected or changed.

I liked how the cover had a face in the background of it, you could tell it was a girl face because of the hair. The cover also had "Find Me" written all over it, so it made the book stand out a lot. My first impression on the book was that it was going to be a good mystery book just by the cover of it. After I looked at the cover, I read the summary inside of the book and it just grabbed my attention it was really good, well written, and it didn't spoil the book. I also liked the quotes on the back of the book, I thought that was a cool idea. This book keeps you engaged and wanting to know more. Wick's life is going good living with her foster parents, but when her sister Lily tells her friend Tally about Wick's hacking, Wick gets involved in a huge problem. Book Review: Bold Tricks By Karina Halle After putting off reading this book for over a year, I decided it was time (plus it was just sitting there on my shelf, waiting to be read so I HAD to.) Bold Tricks just wasn't as good as its predecessors. I am not one for angsty novels but if there is anyone who can make me enjoy one, it's Karina Halle. She knows how to make angsty situations come off as realistic rather than annoying and bothersome. It's what sold this series to me in the first place. Camden, Ellie and Javier have always been complex character. There is no black and white when it comes to them, only the grey. And for some readers that won't work. The Graveyard book accomplishes this task through it's exhilarating, hard–to–put–down nature, it's age appropriate writing style, it's inspirational plotline, and lastly, it's extremely creative ideas and various concepts found throughout the book. The Jungle Book has many characters, problems, resolutions, all adding up to an excellent story, but the Graveyard Book takes it to a whole new level, by adding all sorts of exceedingly exemplary writing, such as tension, and sophisticated stimulus. • 11. Book Review : A Review Of A Book Review Book reviews are just that: a review of a book. They can be used for news articles, blogs, or academic journals. A book review is more than just a book report. It can give the reader more of an insight into not just the book, but the author as well. Most authors write of what they know. For example, some authors have backgrounds in law enforcement so they write about cases they know or have worked. Other authors research groups of people, for example the Knights Templar, and write of what they have learned. Others yet develop a hypothesis and write of what they discovered, proving or disproving their hypothesis. It is important to remember which genre you are interested in when reading a book review. She also has written screen plays, a fact that was new to me. This shows her diverse background in writing. In an interview with The Guardian about Grafton's book "Kinsey and Me", Crace describes that "Kinsey Millhone, then, is Grafton by another name. Grafton in a parallel universe.". Crace explains that Kinsey often resembles Grafton. Kinsey is Grafton's alter ego; saying and doing things that Grafton would not normally do in her everyday life. Believing in the what the author writes is an important fact for fictional books. Grafton creates well developed characters and places that are believable and real; even if they are complete fiction. Thompson Writing Program at Duke University explains that believing in the author's world is an important fact (Writing Studio, 2018). Duke University continues to explain that you should "[f]inish the book before forming your conclusions about it" (Writing Studio, 2018). This is especially true. I found that while reading the book, I kept changing my opinion of who the true murderer was, only to have my world turned upside down with the truth. The end of a fictional book can completely be a twist from what you believe, or want to believe. The University of North Carolina says that "a review makes an argument" (Center, 2018). I will go further, and suggest that it should be mandatory reading for all Ministers. As an MP, I was very pleased to be asked to read it and to provide my thoughts. The discipline that results from those forces, and how that affects all levels of management, does not naturally exist in government. The book has done a good job of offering the different perspectives to date, but I hope to see more discussion on how to combine the best of both worlds. It is telling that the essays discussing the role of the private sector in delivering public services are NOT part of this discussion, but found in a separate section of the book. My only comment on those chapters would be to suggest that our procurement processes need to evolve to better understand what is being asked for in terms of private delivery of services, why, and what limits there need to be. I hope to see more analysis comparing both theory and practice in this regard. As an MP, I particularly enjoyed the chapters addressing questions such as "Do Politicians Control Government?", "Should the Bureaucracy be Politically Neutral?" and "Is Ministerial Responsibility a Dead Concept?" These go to the core of the relationship between, on the one side, the politicians and the policies they are mandated to implement by the people who elected them, and on the other side, the civil service, representing the need for a consistent, effective, efficient, reliable provision of the various services that over time we have deemed to be part of the public service. GRAY AREAS (A) Overall the book is well written, and has a lot of good information, but it tries to find that elusive gap between a very detailed how–to book (which will inevitably date) and a more philosophical tome which provides few useful details which can be put in the practice immediatel. Alas, it falls short of this goal and does not provide much of either. Book Review and Reflection Book Review and Reflection on "The One Minute Manager" Group Process in Supervision EDAD 511October, 23 2008 I chose "The One Minute Manage" because it looked like a short read and it appeared that it was going to generalize hundreds of different type of management theories into a few pages. This is a short, well written book explaining the fundamentals of management: make sure your staff member knows what they are to do, praise them if they do it, reprimand them if they don 't, and to have a training plan to make sure they develop into better, more productive employees. The story is of a young man seeking the answer to the question, "what is the one minute manager?" Also, the interviewer wants to know why is this region of ... In their mission for a happy working environment and a positive, friendly working relationship with their staff they are afraid and unwilling to make any objective and constructive criticism. The One Minute Manager points out that it is just as important for staff to get clear messages about the attitudes and behaviors that you don't want them to repeat as the ones that you do. The secret, of course, is the way in which you do it. A very useful tip is their idea of "feed forward" rather than "feed back". In other words, don't dwell on what was wrong with their past work or efforts but focus on what you would like them to do and to be confident that they can do so in the future. In many aspects of business and personal life there's no such thing as a given or a sure thing. It's a given that organizations should be helpful when dealing with customers, but they don't always do it. It's a given that employees should be adequately trained to do their job, but it doesn't always happen. Of course it's a really basic management principle that employees' desirable behavior should be re–enforced through recognition and praise. Where as work or attitudes less desirable to the organization should be pointed out and corrected. Fundamental yes. Generally implemented? No! • 17. Mankind Divided: Play Analysis Reviews are meant to show a person's judgment on a specific topic. People make reviews to help the audience decide if they should buy a product or not. They list various criteria and state the pros and cons of the subject. Regardless of if the subject is good or bad, a review gives suggestions on how the topic could be improved. Most reviews have strengths and weaknesses depending on how well they know the topic or their experience in reviewing. Liz begins by talking about how Deus Ex: Mankind Divided was announced at E3 and people's concerns with how the game was described. She then begins to give a brief summary of what the game is about while trying not to spoil the game for people. Afterwards, Liz starts to talk about some of the key aspects of the game (being choice based and stealth heavy) and her opinions on them. It is clear that Liz was proud of how the game turned out and even goes as far to say, "The industry feels a little bit better now that this game is a part of it" (pg.3 paragraph 2). Even though she says this, she admits that there are a few cons to the game. • 18. Life Of Pi : Book Review Of The Novel By Yann Martel Life of Pi Book Review Life of Pi, a bestselling novel by Yann Martel was published back in 2003 by Random House of Canada. It is always good for the reader to learn about the authors background to see any connections made to the book. Yann Martel is a Canadian citizen born in Spain who lived most of his childhood years in several different countries. He lived in places like Mexico, France, Turkey, America etc. and discovered that writing in English rather than his original language (French) was a better way to express the exquisiteness of life. One connection between the main character Pi that we see in Martel's real life is that they are both religious, but both have many doubts. Pi believes in three different faiths, Christian, Muslim, and Hindu, stating that all of them have some truth to them. Similarly, Martel stated in an interview that all religions have some truths to them, but on the other hand, they all have their faults. The main theme in the narrative is the "survival of the fittest" concept. This is shown through the intense, extreme situations Piscine will endure to be alive, whether they are horrific things, or heroic actions of bravery and courage. Pi goes far out of his comfort zone in many situations, putting his morals and values to the test. "It is simple and brutal: a person can get used to anything, even to killing." (Martel 185) In this situation Pi is brutally murdering an innocent flying fish for food, completely abandoning all his principles. He ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The way the author drags you in by introducing you with a little family comedy is amazing i didn't really expect much out this book because for many years i've learned a lot about the holocaust and thought that i knew it all. The author goes his way explaining a different view that i never thought of. The spigelman family are jewish and the way the author goes about telling their story is by through their memories. So basically the reviewer is saying that he couldn't see the connections that were trying to be made with the use of the animals as the characters throughout the text. I would have to say that i disagree with the point that the reviewer is trying to say, because the author used these animals as characters to show symbolism between the characters and humans. Compared to Traditional Reviews The reviews I read on the forum were less concerned with a succinct, comprehensive overview of the book like one would expect in a professional review on a site like Kirkus. Rather, they focused on an emotional attachment to the book as a reason to review or recommend it to others. For example, in a discussion on Charlotte's Web, one individual explains that she hated the book because she was forced to read it several times in elementary school (evie, 2004). Although the opinions on the forum were hardly reviews in the professional sense of the word, I was surprised that they so frequently included some sort of visceral reaction to the book. Often there was little explanation concerning the particulars of the story and the author chose to focus instead on the fact that a main character made them angry or that the ending was unexpected or happy. It is difficult to determine which review has the greater authority. If an individual were simply trying to discern whether the plot would be interesting, then certainly a professional review would be more authoritative. However, the conversational reviews I read between friends reminded me of the power of a personal opinion. While ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Wes caught her and not knowing what to do, punched her in the face. Joy, Wes'mother was very upset because Wes had hit a "girl", and set him to his room. Wes' father calmed Joy down by saying that Wes didn 't know what punching a girl like that meant. The other was him watching his dad die. Westley had not been feeling well, and eventually drove himself to the hospital. The hospital staff did not know what to make of his symptoms, so for his sore throat they numbed it for him to relieve the pain and sent him home to rest. James Patterson and Michael Ledwidge wrote a novel together named Gone, it was published in 2013 by the Hachette Book Group. Gone is an important piece of American Literature with their short, attention grabbing storylines. They use a colloquial style of writing that will have you feeling as if the story could be real, and their short chapters give an impression of it being fast paced and keeps your attention, lastly their choice of crime thrillers gives us heart racing suspense with all the action in their story line. The Christian Revelation to John, The Book of Revelation, reveals the world coming to an end through a variety of spiritual visions. Revelations, written by Elaine Pagels summarizes the events taken place during John's revelation and relates it to ancient history. Elaine Pagels highlights main content from the messages, the seals, to the trumpets, while providing historical background. The main argument of Pagels analysis is that The Book of Revelation clearly portrays the war between the Jews against the Roman Empire. This is evident because Pagels explains that the visions John had embodies events that represent the corrupted Roman Empire. Former Librarian of the United States Congress and Historian, Daniel Boorstin, was a notable exception, who led the charge against the exhibit commenting in the first guestbook that it was "perverse, historically inaccurate [and] destructive." Most academic reviews were positive, especially praising the catalogue which provided considerably more nuanced and detailed analysis that the wall texts. Some historians found it hard to see what all the fuss was about, with Byron Pierce remarking that the ideas expressed in the exhibit were "hardly controversial to ... Similarly, in the introduction, Broun stated that the show dealt with issues that "America still struggles with today" while Truettner stated "Today, a century after America's creation myth was ushered into the world, we struggle with its inadequacies and insensitivities," indicating that the exhibition was indeed making a comment on contemporary society. This opened up a powerful line of attack against the curators in the comment book with one guest writing, "It is ironic that an exhibit which accuses all American frontier art as being the lowest form of false propaganda should itself resort to propaganda of the most obvious, most popular kind." (in footnotes another accused the curators of doig exactly what they accused the artists of doing) The historian Thomas Vale mounted a similar criticism, wondering "what 'hidden agenda's' lurk in conscious or subconscious minds of the writers" if one were to apply the same scepticism TWAA applied to Western artists. Vale concludes that, much like the artists, the writers were simply reflecting the social concerns of their times. As displayed throughout this dissertation, this was very much the case and had the curators acknowledged this, they may have staved off some of the criticism, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 33. Book Review Of The Movie 'The Jungle Book' The Jungle Book is a movie based on the story of a young boy named Mowgli who was found in the Jungle by a panther named Bagheera. Bagheera found the boy the day his father lost his life to a tiger named Shere Khan but before the tiger ended the man's life he was burned by the Red Flower, man's' creation known as fire. Bagheera had taken Mowgli to the animals he knew would raise the young boy like their own and that was the wolves. Akeila was their Alpha and Raksha was the only mother Mowgli knew. They raised the young boy to be a fine "wolf" he learned the morals of the wolves and one of the biggest was "The Law of the Jungle" he also learned to hunt with them. Although Mowgli was raised to be a "wolf" no one could ever take away his true identity which was being a man. Mowgli went to his first water truce at Peace Rock which meant all the animals in the jungle were not allowed to hunt or kill anyone and everyone had to get along but as soon as Shere Khan showed up that all went out the door, he threatened the wolves saying "how many lives is a man cub really worth" meaning man was forbidden in the jungle. Shere Khan began to hunt Mowgli because he wanted him dead so Bagheera made a decision to take him to the man village and Mowgli will leave behind the only home and family he ever knew but before arriving to the man village he goes through a series of events. He meets a brown bear named Baloo who saved him from the jaws of Kaa a very large snake, he is kidnapped ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 34. Review Of 'The Book Thief' Essays Review of: The Book Thief by Markus Zusak It seems sometimes like the market for young adult literature is written down to the readers, almost in a condescending manner. That is why a book like The Book Thief by Markus Zusak is so refreshing in this sea of cookie cutter romances and fantasies. While classified as a young adult novel, it deals with very serious themes. The book's cover comes printed with this label: "It is 1939. Nazi Germany. The country is holding its breath. Death has never been busier, and will become busier still." It is a dark allusion to what is to come. But Zusak makes this story more accessible to the audience he is writing to and does this by creating identifiable characters, by bringing humor into ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Hans is a passionate, caring man who earns his living as a house painter by day and an accordion player by night. Liesel believes his eyes show kindness, and is closer to him from the beginning than to her foster mother. He is one of a few in their village who is not a registered member of the Nazi party, which comes to have serious repercussions on the family as the book progresses. Rosa Hubermann is a stern, strong woman who looks like a "wardrobe with a coat thrown over it" and would be "cute," but appears perpetually annoyed. She peppers her language with epithets like "Saumensch" and "Saukerl" and "Arschloch". "Sau" refers to "pig" and mensch is girl and kerl is man, arschloch sounds pretty close to its English equivalent. From the beginning Liesel is "saumensch," which at first refers to Rosa's annoyance at taking this girl in, even though it does mean more money for the family. But by the end, it has become a term of true endearment. Liesel's best friend in the village is a little boy named Rudy, "the boy next door who was obsessed with the black American athleteJesse Owens." Rudy is in love with Liesel and always pesters her for a kiss, which he does finally receive, after some pretty serious turns in the story. This anecdote is effective in the introduction because it establishes that the author has a great respect and interest in China, and that the book must have something to do with China. By establishing his vast interest in China, the reader knows that Winchester is capable of credibly critiquing a novel on China's history. Winchester also establishes credibility through showing that he has had a first–hand experience with Chinese culture. Asyndeton: When describing the episodes of Baker's novel, Winchester omits conjunctions between descriptors, creating an energetic and enthusiastic tone. He states three descriptors consecutively: "tightly wound," "intensely wrought," and fantastically exciting". The exclusion of conjunctions pushes the pace of the text and, in a way, reawakens the reader from the tiresome details of the previous paragraphs. In addition, Winchester's enthusiastic tone persuades the reader to read this book because if an experienced critic can get excited about this book, then it may have some value to ... • 37. In The Dark Side Of Science Book Review In The Dark Side of science by Heather E. Douglas that published in the November (2011) issue of The Scientist, promotes the use of forethought on studies done by scientists. Dr. Douglas focuses on the great need for the studies done to include the negative outcome on life vs just the positive. In a closer reading Dr. Douglas is humanizing the situation to connect with scientists explaining why we need to take responsibility for our actions. Dr. Douglas feels it is in the scientist of who discovers the work are responsible for future uses. She goes to talk about how gene science is important and has done great things to advance humanity. She also states that is it not perfect as a result of there being people that will always do harm; Dr. Douglas says, "Scientist are responsible for both the impacts they intend and any of the impacts they do not intend, if they are readily foreseeable in specific detail." Here, the author is calling out to the scientist that it is up to them to prevent their work from causing harm. She does not expect the responsibility on just the scientist, she later ... The words pathogenic, as well as, organism. Both are not words that the average American uses and I'm sure majority does not even know what they are. The only time I hear those words is in a doctor's office. Another is where she goes deeper into the details of "knowledge of how to generate by providing particular and accurate DNA sequences with which scientist develop ways to generate sequences of base–pairs." Again, not how I talk to my friends, although that is what I would use if I were to talk to colleagues in my field, or people looking to be in the field. • 38. Book Review: I Am A SEAL Team Six Warrior The book I read was I am a SEAL Team Six Warrior: Memoirs of an American Soldier by Howard E. Wasdin and Stephen Templin. My favorite passage came from the middle of the story when Howard and some of his buddies helped a younger boy out. It states: "That evening, the boy next door groaned like he was dying. I knew what it was like to be a child in pain. Screw this. Casanova, a SIGINT medic named Rick, and I did a hard entry on the boy's house...We gave hime intravenous antibiotics, bandaged his wounds, and injected each butt cheek to stop the infection. Then we vanished" (Wasdin & Templin 97). This shows that Howard went against the CIA's orders of leaving the boy alone to help him out. He knew what it was like to be in pain from his own childhood. He was willing to blow his own cover to make sure that this boy was going to be okay. This shows the more sensitive side of Howard. From the beginning of the novel, Howard comes across as someone who is hard and doesn't necessarily have many feelings do to what happened in his childhood. In this scene we can see that he still has these feelings of sorrow, and maybe even understands them more because of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This was stated by Howard's stepdad Leon. Leon had never shown this kind of attitude toward Howard before, so it was a big step in not only Howard's relationship with Debbie, but also in Howard's relationship with Leon. • 41. DURYODHANA'S ENVY "What man of mettle will stand to see his rivals prosper and himself decline" 'If envy were a fever the whole world would be ill.' Envy is an emotion basic to all human beings. Arising from need for self–esteem (Maslow's Need Hierarchy), envy finds its roots in the distress the envier feels when he sees the good fortune of others. Envy is a strong emotion with high negative effect that overwhelms the envier with mental stress, tension and depression, making him mentally ill. Duryodhana is a classic example of how envy in its extreme has the potential to consume a lead to a calamity like the Mahabharata. His envy arises when he goes low on self–esteem (Maslow's Need Hierarchy) but has a high need for power and achievement (McClelland's theory). Unable to bear the prosperity and fortune of his Pandavas cousins he indulges in surface–acting and invites Duryodhana for a 'friendly game of dice' and cheats him under the conspiracy. Also, the perception (cognitive component) that the Pandavas are more accomplished than him leads to the feeling (affective component) of envy and combined with his Machiavellianism results in his multiple plots to kill the Pandavas (behavioural component).Duryodhan also suffers ...
