Lieutenant General Lewis B.
Lieutenant General Lewis B. "Chesty" Puller is a name that every marine knows for his heroic actions and his legacy left upon the Corps. This man
was and is still the most decorated Marine and is by far the greatest Marine to ever live, leading through countless engagements from the beaches of
Peleliu Island to the Chosin Reservoir in North Korea. He also brought an indistinguishable honor upon the United States by showing the world what a
fierce force the USMC (United States Marine Corps) can be through his numerous years fighting and bleeding for our great country.
The formidable force known throughout the world today for their courageous acts of bravery, started out from two battalions raised with the early
continental navy on November ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During the great war 30,000 Marines were sent to the war torn continent, more than a third were either wounded or didn't come home and many came
home as different people being the first of many to experience shell shock (USMC History Division Web).
Just before World War 2 the Marines and in general the United States armed forces saw a revamping of its war machine. After the surprise attack on
Pearl Harbor, the Marine Corps was sent with the Navy to capture key points in the Japanese Imperial Empire also known as the "Island Hopping
campaign." The Marines saw extensive combat during its amphibious landings throughout the Pacific on many islands such as Guadalcanal, Pelelui,
Tarawa, Okinawa and numerous others. On some of the landings, no other than the Lewis B "Chesty Puller" commanded these brave men to victory, he
would later lead countless men during the Korean war six years later (USMC History Division Web).
After the war many Marines were kept to occupy these islands creating numerous offshore bases in the Pacific, which many are being used to this day

Personal Narrative: My Marine Corps Transformation
With every organization comes a degree of change. The Marine Corps is no different. With a rapidly changing world, we must strive to sustain the
transformation and remain true to our ethos. Across the Marine Corps the culture of each unit is different, with sustaining the transformation as our
tool we can make each unit better for new generations of Marines. Marine Raider Training Center sustains the transformation by holding quarterly
promotion panels to ensure deserving promotions; however it fails to sustain the transformation by not welcoming new Marines to the unit
appropriately, I will build a Welcome Aboard package to sustain the transformation for my Marines. I am attached to Marine Raider Training Center
U.S. Marine Corps Forces, Special Operations Command. As with every unit in the Marine Corps, it does an outstanding in some areas of maintain the
transformation. One of the ways out unit achieves this is through carefully selected and vetted promotion boards for Lance Corporal (LCPL) through

My warrior mentality has been challenged more than once during my time at Marine Raider Training center and many times I have failed
allowing my leadership to reflect poor judgement and decision making. With Sergeants course and a few attitude changes I have been able to
bounce back and see the Marine Corps for what it is: a great organization that has enabled me to be a better person. However we still have a long
way to go as a community in order to perform at the highest level possible. I am grateful for the good things my unit does such as promotion panels.
However I am not blind that we as a unit have room for improvement, with me taking control of building the welcome aboard brief I believe we can be
on step closer to sustaining the

The Long Term Dispute Over Which Is Better, East Coast Vs....
The long term dispute over which is better, east coast vs. west coast, will undoubtedly continue until this country no longer exists. While both coasts
offer travelers and natives a variety of places to eat, things to do, and places to see, California, North Carolina, and South Carolina want to put their
states on the map with their interesting history and ways of living. Due to so much variety on each coast, there is something on each side for everyone.
More often than not, people picture California and the Carolinas to be polar opposites. This way of thinking comes from the idea that Hollywood, the
city of dreams, consumes California entirely. Consequently, travelers must dig deep to find the hidden gems throughout each state. There will always
be more than what meets the eye.
There are hundreds of military bases throughout the United States of America. California and the Carolinas contribute to that statistic. Home to almost
30 different bases, California boasts the most commonly known Marine Corps Air Station–Miramar, Camp Pendleton, Marine Corps Recruit
Depot–San Diego, and the Naval Amphibious Base Coronado, home to the Navy SEALS. One of the very prevalent military communities within
California is San Diego. There is an overwhelming sense of pride in the Armed Forces around every corner in what is a relatively large city. North
and South Carolina are very familiar with that same sense of pride.

Short Story
They arrived at the headquarters building which was really a six story business building located in downtown Dublin. The headquarters occupied the
lower floor only, this was because the first floor had a lot of window light which they needed because there was no electricity. There was further
evidence of the recent bombing by United States aircraft. General Grayston was a believer now with the recent close call he had with the P–51
Mustangs. The General hustled out of the Humvee and into the headquarters building, he asked the Private at the front desk where he could find
Major General Holcomb. The Private directed him the rear office on the far back of the building. Since General Grayston had no idea where that was

"It's worse than that I fret." General Holcomb told him. "They were able to drop an entire division onto Fort Gordon as you know. The 3rd Infantry
Division has been resupplied by airdrop. I received messages this morning that Fort Bragg has linked up with Camp Lejeune, the reports are hard to
believe. One Army Military Police Company came roaring to the rescue in a huge black armored train, of a Marine Company that was attempting to
link up with them. But, they ran into a well–armed Militia, together two companies wiped out an estimated five hundred Militia members." General
Grayston sat down with a thud, "This can't be true?" "I have no reason to believe it's not. The 3rd Infantry Division is in Savanah and clearing it
out, very effectively. These reports show an Aircraft Carrier and Battleship off the coast." "That's impossible!" General Grayston screamed. "Well
sir, maybe it is, I haven't seen them for myself." MG Holcomb responded. "We are being bombed or strafed at least once a day, we have no idea where
they are originating from." General Grayston sank deeper into his chair, he couldn't believe it, where did the Aircraft Carrier and Battleship come
from, how was it possible? "Any more good news General?" "Sir, moral is good, our Soldiers are prepared for the fight. I have a plan." General
Grayston perked up at that news, "Well let's hear it!" he said enthusiastically. Over the next hour MG Holcomb explained

Essay on The United States Military
The United states Military is made up of Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard branches, however the Army is the only branch
that has ever issued a conscription or draft and has done so many times during its wars. The Draft was abolished in 1973 in favor of an all volunteer
army, but men of draft age still to this day have to register to the Selective Service System so a draft can be readily applied if needed. The draft
system recruits and places men into the military during a time of need for soldiers. During the Vietnam War and Cold War many people found the draft
controversial and unfair, and chose to protest or completely disobey the draft system. Although the Vietnam War draft was thought by many Americans

In 1962 President John F. Kennedy re–instated the Presidents Committee on equal opportunity in the Armed Forces. This was known as the Gesell
Committee and was chaired by attorney Gerhard Gesell and was made to bring qualified African Americans into military service. At the time African
Americans made up 13% of the U.S population but only made up 9% of the Armed Forces. The committee aimed to make these numbers more equal
and bring more military interest and benefits to Blacks, however before the committee could act, the war in Vietnam solved the problems. The new
military expansions, discriminatory draft, and government programs brought increased African American participation and new forms of discrimination.
The new U.S. involvement in the Vietnam conflict overlapped the roaring Civil Rights movement bringing the misuse and mistreatment of African
Americans troops in the draft and in war itself. Many Civil Rights leaders not only saw discrimination in the war and war programs, but they also
used it as leverage for their movement. Dr. Martin Luther King described the Vietnam War as: "a white man's war, a black man's fight" and felt that
the number of black youths drafted was disproportionate to whites, and that African Americans faced a greater chance of being in combat or placed in
front lines.

Countries Come Together in the 100 Hour War Essay
It is very interesting how there are so many countries out there and most of them with very different beliefs, cultural backgrounds, ideals, laws,
customs, religion and living very different lifestyles, but, all of that is set aside and they are all able to come together and unite for a similar cause
in order to reach a common goal. This is the case the "100 Hour War", where coalition forces joined their military assets to fight a war against Iraqi
soldiers, under Saddam Hussein's orders, to stop them from overrunning and taking over Kuwait as well as stopping the abuse and murders Iraqi
soldiers had going on against Kuwaiti citizens. The conflict started because Saddam Hussein was accusing Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates of...

Iraqi soldiers immediately started to kill Kuwaiti citizen, abusing the women and taking hostages. Some of the first hostages the Iraqi army took were
the western expatriate workers when the Iraqis crossed the Kuwaiti border and taken back to Iraq. They used their tanks to destroy houses of Kuwaiti
citizens who showed any type of resistance to the Iraqis or simply storm in their houses, take over and doing or taking whatever it was they wanted.
Dr Fawzi al Khawari, a Kuwaiti citizen, stated "We are not dealing with human beings; we are dealing with people who came to Kuwait to destroy".
He also stated, "There were five Kuwaitis, young Kuwaitis, in their house and they killed all, not even killed, they were cut into pieces". Atrocities
committed by the Iraqi soldiers included removing infants from their incubators at hospitals and leaving them on the ground to die, according to
Nayirah, whom was a nurse working in Kuwaiti City hospital. Two days after the invasion, the Iraqi Republican Guard had already defeated the
Kuwaiti army, but some soldiers had escaped to Saudi Arabia. Upon the invasion, Saddam Hussein claimed Kuwait as the 19th province of Iraq,
controlling a very large portion of the world's oil reserves. These and other horrible acts led the United Nations to pass resolutions opposing the
invasion and demanding Iraq to withdraw. After several negotiations between Iraq and theUnited States, to include one of the

Municipal Drinking Water : The Natural Resources Defense...
Municipal Drinking Water in the U.S In the United States we often take our tap water for granted and we seriously shouldn't. In 2001 a study called
What's on Tap? was released by the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) , a carefully researched, well–documented, and peer–reviewed study
of 19 U.S cities. Alarming results found that pollution and deteriorating out–of–date plumbing are sometimes delivering unsafe drinking water to the
population. Many U.S cities depend on water delivery systems and treatment technology that were the same used before the First World War. Aging
pipes are old and can easily break, leaching contaminants into the water supply and can become a breeding ground for a wide variety of bacteria. While
a water treatment before WWI pretty efficiently filtered out the particles in the water and killed some parasites and bacteria, these systems generally
tend to fail to remove 21st century contaminants like industrial chemicals, pesticides, even arsenic.1 Although municipal water can contain a vast array
of contaminants, several continued to repeatedly show up in water of the cities studied. Among the most frequently found contaminants were Arsenic,
mentioned earlier, and other toxic chemicals such as radon, the rocket fuel perchlorate and other carcinogens, which may cause skin problems, birth
defects, reproductive problems and even cancer. High Volumes of Lead were found, which enters the drinking water supplies from the corrosion of old
pipes and

Marines of Montford Point Essay
The Marines of Montford point. The book I chose to do my book report on is the marines of montford point. This is a true story of the marines of
montford point, North Carolina. The first African American segment of the United States marine corps. In this book we find out the struggles they
went threw because of the racial barrier as well as the political implications that were going on at the time. This was a very inspiring book and it
reminds people of the cost of freedom. Nothing was easy for the black marines. All of the other service branches had allowed African Americans to
serve in their ranks. In 1941 president Franklin D. Roosevelt signed an executive order that prevented government agencies from refusing to hire

However, men in the ammunition and depot companies saw combat during the amphibious landings on the beaches of Iwo Jima, Saipan, Pelelui
and Okinawa. From these experiences, the Montford Point Marines earned the respect of their white counterparts, in spite of the general notion at
the time that blacks weren't ready for combat. Even the fact that black Marines were present at the landing on Iwo Jima was suppressed. Steven
Robinson comments on how the camera crews turned away when they saw black Marines. He also said we were fighting the war to liberate
people who had more liberty than we had." 60 veterans were interviewed threw out this story , so the author gets all of the experiences in their own
words. we learn about their reasons for enlisting; their arrival at Montford Point and the training they received there; their lives in a segregated
military. A very great bio of one of the characters was the one of Herman Darden Jr. He begins to talk about the reputation of the marines at the time
which was marines were rough and ready to go. He then talks about his reason for joining which was "because marines are supposed to be the first to
battle and the first ones home, so I don't want to stay out that long". Even though the racial barrier between the blacks and whites was big alot of these
black men still found it in them to join the marines and fight with honor.

The Genesis Of The Business Model Canvas
The genesis of the Business Model Canvas (BMC) consists of nine building blocks that describe a business model. They are: Customer Segments,
Value Propositions, Customer Relationships, Channels, Revenue Streams, Key Partners, Key Activities, Key Resources and Cost Structure.
(Osterwalder, A., Pigneur, Y, 2010) One of the unique features of the approach of the Business Model Canvas is that this tool allows for easy, visual
representation for decision makers to think about. The tool provides a dissection of the major concerns impacting the business and also represents the
direction the organization is taking through its business model. As author Dan Roam states, "visual thinking to solve complex problems" is what the
BMC is all about. The Business Model Generation does have it strengths and weaknesses. Perhaps the main asset of the BMC is the visual illustration.
One main drawback is the limited aim of an organization; that is, it targets profit generation and for non–profit purposes of an organization. The
benefits will be touched on below, but the Osterwalder/Pigneu business model leaves out one key ingredient. Omitting the basic fact that competition is
not mentioned in this theory seems to be a glaring omission. Advancement springs from competition and so does better customer service. In our
reading, the business model canvas is a great tool that fosters "understanding, discussions, creativity and analysis." The nine basic blocks demonstrate

6TH Marine Regiment Research Paper
LCPL Dubuisson, Bryce A. 20160922 The History of 6TH Marine Regiment The 6TH Marine Regiment is an infantry regiment of the United
States Marine Corps based at Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. The regiment falls under the command of the 2nd Marine
Division of the II Marine Expeditionary Force. In 1917, the 6TH Marine Regiment was ativated on 11 July at Marine Corps Base Quantico,
Virginia to fight in World War I1. In early 1918, 6TH Marine Regiment joined the 5TH Marine Regiment and the 6TH Machine Gun Battalion to
form the 4TH Brigade. In March of 1918 near Verdun the Marine Brigade entered th trenches of the Toulon Sector, where the regiment suffered its
first combat casualties1. Being forced to wear Army uniforms the only thing Marines had to to set themselves apart was a cover with an eagle
globe and ancore. This did not sit will ith the marines so they desiged a patch. It had a black shield white star and indian head with a full war
dress2. The black was to mourne and respect their fallen brothers, the shield stood for defense of each other and their country, the star was to show
respect for the marines commanding general Bridger Genral John A lejeune, and the indian head was to show the fighting spirte of the marines
themselves2. The Marines would wear this patch in battle and it was a sybole that the enemy feared, a symbole that the Germans gave the name
"shock troops" to those who wore it1. The 4th Brigade was ordered to reinforce crumbling French lines near ChГўteau–Thierry in late May 1918. The

on things since they will always have more experience that I do. I was fortunate to have NCO's that took their role seriously and strived to train
the Marines under them to the best of their effort. I was a junior Marine for a relatively short amount of time, I was promoted to Corporal at 19
years old and at the time I felt that I was nowhere near ready to assume the role of an NCO. I can honestly say I don't think any of the junior
Marines under my charge that were promoted felt the same way as I did, I didn't feel that they understood the gravity of the responsibilities that they

Living in Jacksonville, NC versus Living in San Diego, Ca
Compare and Contrast Final Draft
Samantha Deal As a military brat, I was born and raised in Jacksonville, North Carolina; and have lived here for most of my life. Recently our family
was stationed in San Diego, California, and the move was a great eye–opener for me. When I moved to San Diego, I was surprised by the diversity of
cultures, the abundance of activities, and how the crowds of people never stopped. It is an excellent place for people who enjoy being amongst other
people; there is never a lack of entertainment day or night. Jacksonville, North Carolina on the other hand, is more for people who like a relaxed and
quiet family oriented lifestyle. The city of Jacksonville, and Camp Lejeune Marine Corps base are home to 170,000 Marines, Sailors, retirees, and
civilians. There are plenty of things to do in Jacksonville, the only problem is you have to look for them. For example, on the Jacksonville website,
there are seafood festivals to attend, crab boils, and beach events among other things. We have deep sea fishing for blue marlin with a top prize of
$1,000,000 which attracts people from all over the country. People can join the "Clean and Green Jacksonville initiative" which entails improving, and
maintaining the parks, roadways, and landscapes. Also, the Sturgeon City Institute is focused on bringing back the endangered Sturgeon to the New

tremendously. In fact I have stated many times that I wished I would have kept a daily journal of all the things the Lord has done in my life since
I became a believer. But, as you will see as you read this paper, after becoming a Christian, and having now been saved for almost 13 years, I can
look back and see the sovereign hand of the Almighty working throughout my life. I did not come to know Christ until December of 2003 at the age
of 25 at First Baptist Church of Gordonsville Tennessee. As a young boy, I had a desire to know GOD, and had even made a profession of faith, but
never had anyone... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
My thinking was this: we could go to boot camp and if we did not like the Corps then, in the reserves, we would only have to serve one weekend a
month. I wanted to hang on to those old things and people in my life. But GOD had a better plan for me. When I introduced my idea to Scott, he
said, "no", "if we are going to do it, let's do it", and my exact response was, "then let's do it". And so we did. We signed the dotted line making a
commitment for 4 years of active duty service in the infantry of the USMC. We left our home town in November of 1997. Little did I know, even
in my lost state, the Sovereign hand of GOD was working in my life. The Lord knew that I not only needed to get out of my home town, and away
from my old friends, He knew I also needed to get away from Scott, and in just a matter of days I would be separated from him as well. Within a week
or so Scott would suffer a leg injury and eventually be separated from the Marine Corps. While at boot camp in Paris Island South Carolina I once
again started to desire GOD in my life. I began to read my Bible and pray. At that time I also began to think about what I would want in a wife. As I
did, I realized that a young lady that I had been dating prior to joining the Marine Corps was the woman I wanted to call my wife. When boot camp
graduation day finally came I immediately went home and asked that girl to marry me, she said YES! We set a date, and then just a few days later I
left and went off to the School of

The Marine Corps
[Credibility] Good afternoon ladies and gentlemen, I would like to introduce Gunnery Sergeant Kristi Bagley to speak with you about the Montford
Point Marines. Gunnery Sergeant Bagley has done extensive research on the Montford Point Marines, and had the privilege of attending the Montford
Marines' Congressional Gold Medal ceremony in June 2012. Ladies and gentlemen, Gunny Sergeant Bagley.
[Attention] On display at the Montford Point Marine Museum at Camp Johnson, North Carolina is a Marine Corps dress blues uniform. The uniform
is identical to any other set of dress blues worn by Marines through the mid–1940s. Just like any other set of dress blues, the Marine who wore them
went through a grueling period of training to earn the right to wear this uniform. However, this particular dress uniform bears a different legacy of
hardships and endurance than that of Marines who had come before.
[Motivation] These blues belonged to Edgar Huff, the first African American to reach the rank of Sergeant Major in the Marine Corps and one of the
first African Americans to be allowed to enlist in the Marine Corps. Sergeant Major Huff and nearly twenty–thousand other African Americans began a
new legacy of service in the United States Marine Corps.
[Purpose and Thesis] Despite the Marines Corps' acceptance of African American enlistees within its ranks, the newly installed Marines experienced a
great deal of opposition and racism from both the leadership of the Marine Corps, their

United States Marine Corps ( Usmc ) Base Of Military Bases...
Jacksonville, North Carolina, and the surrounding area is full of military bases. The biggest base is a United States Marine Corps (USMC) base
called Camp Lejeune. Some of the other bases: Air Station New River (USMC), Camp Geiger (USMC), Air Station Cherry Point, smaller adjacent
posts, and reserve stations (Google, n.d.). Every military personal that separates from their given branch is required to turn in their individual
issue gear. Camp Lejeune's Consolidated Issue Facility (CIF) states "Dirty, cracked, missing or broken gear is the last thing on the mind of a
Marine returning from Iraq" (Muth, 2006). This can be a challenging thing for Marines to accomplish the CIF department at Lejeune explains just
one of the challenges that they face "The only thing about cleaning the gear is that Marines are taking the flak jackets apart and drying them in a
dryer. The problem with that is that the outer shell will shrink so it's harder to get the SAPI (Small Arms Protective Inserts) plates back into them. If
you wash it you have to let the outer shell air dry" (Muth, 2006). This causes an extra amount of stress while trying to transition out of the military.
The gear has to be clean, undamaged and the correct generation that the service member was issued. A private origination that is dedicated to helping
with the military to civilian transition is USMC IIF they warn "Again there is no reason to have dirty gear. Take your time and take care of business.
I know we all want to go

Lieutenant General Lewis B.

  • 1. Lieutenant General Lewis B. Lieutenant General Lewis B. "Chesty" Puller is a name that every marine knows for his heroic actions and his legacy left upon the Corps. This man was and is still the most decorated Marine and is by far the greatest Marine to ever live, leading through countless engagements from the beaches of Peleliu Island to the Chosin Reservoir in North Korea. He also brought an indistinguishable honor upon the United States by showing the world what a fierce force the USMC (United States Marine Corps) can be through his numerous years fighting and bleeding for our great country. The formidable force known throughout the world today for their courageous acts of bravery, started out from two battalions raised with the early continental navy on November ... During the great war 30,000 Marines were sent to the war torn continent, more than a third were either wounded or didn't come home and many came home as different people being the first of many to experience shell shock (USMC History Division Web). Just before World War 2 the Marines and in general the United States armed forces saw a revamping of its war machine. After the surprise attack on Pearl Harbor, the Marine Corps was sent with the Navy to capture key points in the Japanese Imperial Empire also known as the "Island Hopping campaign." The Marines saw extensive combat during its amphibious landings throughout the Pacific on many islands such as Guadalcanal, Pelelui, Tarawa, Okinawa and numerous others. On some of the landings, no other than the Lewis B "Chesty Puller" commanded these brave men to victory, he would later lead countless men during the Korean war six years later (USMC History Division Web). After the war many Marines were kept to occupy these islands creating numerous offshore bases in the Pacific, which many are being used to this day by active duty ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 2. Personal Narrative: My Marine Corps Transformation With every organization comes a degree of change. The Marine Corps is no different. With a rapidly changing world, we must strive to sustain the transformation and remain true to our ethos. Across the Marine Corps the culture of each unit is different, with sustaining the transformation as our tool we can make each unit better for new generations of Marines. Marine Raider Training Center sustains the transformation by holding quarterly promotion panels to ensure deserving promotions; however it fails to sustain the transformation by not welcoming new Marines to the unit appropriately, I will build a Welcome Aboard package to sustain the transformation for my Marines. I am attached to Marine Raider Training Center U.S. Marine Corps Forces, Special Operations Command. As with every unit in the Marine Corps, it does an outstanding in some areas of maintain the transformation. One of the ways out unit achieves this is through carefully selected and vetted promotion boards for Lance Corporal (LCPL) through Sergeant (Sgt). The Command first designates... My warrior mentality has been challenged more than once during my time at Marine Raider Training center and many times I have failed allowing my leadership to reflect poor judgement and decision making. With Sergeants course and a few attitude changes I have been able to bounce back and see the Marine Corps for what it is: a great organization that has enabled me to be a better person. However we still have a long way to go as a community in order to perform at the highest level possible. I am grateful for the good things my unit does such as promotion panels. However I am not blind that we as a unit have room for improvement, with me taking control of building the welcome aboard brief I believe we can be on step closer to sustaining the ... • 3. The Long Term Dispute Over Which Is Better, East Coast Vs.... The long term dispute over which is better, east coast vs. west coast, will undoubtedly continue until this country no longer exists. While both coasts offer travelers and natives a variety of places to eat, things to do, and places to see, California, North Carolina, and South Carolina want to put their states on the map with their interesting history and ways of living. Due to so much variety on each coast, there is something on each side for everyone. More often than not, people picture California and the Carolinas to be polar opposites. This way of thinking comes from the idea that Hollywood, the city of dreams, consumes California entirely. Consequently, travelers must dig deep to find the hidden gems throughout each state. There will always be more than what meets the eye. There are hundreds of military bases throughout the United States of America. California and the Carolinas contribute to that statistic. Home to almost 30 different bases, California boasts the most commonly known Marine Corps Air Station–Miramar, Camp Pendleton, Marine Corps Recruit Depot–San Diego, and the Naval Amphibious Base Coronado, home to the Navy SEALS. One of the very prevalent military communities within California is San Diego. There is an overwhelming sense of pride in the Armed Forces around every corner in what is a relatively large city. North and South Carolina are very familiar with that same sense of pride. Marine Corps Recruit Depot– Parris Island, Camp Lejeune, Marine Corps ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. Short Story They arrived at the headquarters building which was really a six story business building located in downtown Dublin. The headquarters occupied the lower floor only, this was because the first floor had a lot of window light which they needed because there was no electricity. There was further evidence of the recent bombing by United States aircraft. General Grayston was a believer now with the recent close call he had with the P–51 Mustangs. The General hustled out of the Humvee and into the headquarters building, he asked the Private at the front desk where he could find Major General Holcomb. The Private directed him the rear office on the far back of the building. Since General Grayston had no idea where that was he ordered the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... "It's worse than that I fret." General Holcomb told him. "They were able to drop an entire division onto Fort Gordon as you know. The 3rd Infantry Division has been resupplied by airdrop. I received messages this morning that Fort Bragg has linked up with Camp Lejeune, the reports are hard to believe. One Army Military Police Company came roaring to the rescue in a huge black armored train, of a Marine Company that was attempting to link up with them. But, they ran into a well–armed Militia, together two companies wiped out an estimated five hundred Militia members." General Grayston sat down with a thud, "This can't be true?" "I have no reason to believe it's not. The 3rd Infantry Division is in Savanah and clearing it out, very effectively. These reports show an Aircraft Carrier and Battleship off the coast." "That's impossible!" General Grayston screamed. "Well sir, maybe it is, I haven't seen them for myself." MG Holcomb responded. "We are being bombed or strafed at least once a day, we have no idea where they are originating from." General Grayston sank deeper into his chair, he couldn't believe it, where did the Aircraft Carrier and Battleship come from, how was it possible? "Any more good news General?" "Sir, moral is good, our Soldiers are prepared for the fight. I have a plan." General Grayston perked up at that news, "Well let's hear it!" he said enthusiastically. • 7. Essay on The United States Military The United states Military is made up of Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard branches, however the Army is the only branch that has ever issued a conscription or draft and has done so many times during its wars. The Draft was abolished in 1973 in favor of an all volunteer army, but men of draft age still to this day have to register to the Selective Service System so a draft can be readily applied if needed. The draft system recruits and places men into the military during a time of need for soldiers. During the Vietnam War and Cold War many people found the draft controversial and unfair, and chose to protest or completely disobey the draft system. Although the Vietnam War draft was thought by many Americans to be an... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In 1962 President John F. Kennedy re–instated the Presidents Committee on equal opportunity in the Armed Forces. This was known as the Gesell Committee and was chaired by attorney Gerhard Gesell and was made to bring qualified African Americans into military service. At the time African Americans made up 13% of the U.S population but only made up 9% of the Armed Forces. The committee aimed to make these numbers more equal and bring more military interest and benefits to Blacks, however before the committee could act, the war in Vietnam solved the problems. The new military expansions, discriminatory draft, and government programs brought increased African American participation and new forms of discrimination. The new U.S. involvement in the Vietnam conflict overlapped the roaring Civil Rights movement bringing the misuse and mistreatment of African Americans troops in the draft and in war itself. Many Civil Rights leaders not only saw discrimination in the war and war programs, but they also used it as leverage for their movement. Dr. Martin Luther King described the Vietnam War as: "a white man's war, a black man's fight" and felt that the number of black youths drafted was disproportionate to whites, and that African Americans faced a greater chance of being in combat or placed in front lines. This is the case the "100 Hour War", where coalition forces joined their military assets to fight a war against Iraqi soldiers, under Saddam Hussein's orders, to stop them from overrunning and taking over Kuwait as well as stopping the abuse and murders Iraqi soldiers had going on against Kuwaiti citizens. Atrocities committed by the Iraqi soldiers included removing infants from their incubators at hospitals and leaving them on the ground to die, according to Nayirah, whom was a nurse working in Kuwaiti City hospital. Two days after the invasion, the Iraqi Republican Guard had already defeated the Kuwaiti army, but some soldiers had escaped to Saudi Arabia. Upon the invasion, Saddam Hussein claimed Kuwait as the 19th province of Iraq, controlling a very large portion of the world's oil reserves. • 9. Municipal Drinking Water : The Natural Resources Defense... Municipal Drinking Water in the U.S In the United States we often take our tap water for granted and we seriously shouldn't. In 2001 a study called What's on Tap? was released by the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) , a carefully researched, well–documented, and peer–reviewed study of 19 U.S cities. Alarming results found that pollution and deteriorating out–of–date plumbing are sometimes delivering unsafe drinking water to the population. Many U.S cities depend on water delivery systems and treatment technology that were the same used before the First World War. Aging pipes are old and can easily break, leaching contaminants into the water supply and can become a breeding ground for a wide variety of bacteria. While a water treatment before WWI pretty efficiently filtered out the particles in the water and killed some parasites and bacteria, these systems generally tend to fail to remove 21st century contaminants like industrial chemicals, pesticides, even arsenic.1 Although municipal water can contain a vast array of contaminants, several continued to repeatedly show up in water of the cities studied. Among the most frequently found contaminants were Arsenic, mentioned earlier, and other toxic chemicals such as radon, the rocket fuel perchlorate and other carcinogens, which may cause skin problems, birth defects, reproductive problems and even cancer. High Volumes of Lead were found, which enters the drinking water supplies from the corrosion of old pipes and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 16. The Genesis Of The Business Model Canvas The genesis of the Business Model Canvas (BMC) consists of nine building blocks that describe a business model. They are: Customer Segments, Value Propositions, Customer Relationships, Channels, Revenue Streams, Key Partners, Key Activities, Key Resources and Cost Structure. (Osterwalder, A., Pigneur, Y, 2010) One of the unique features of the approach of the Business Model Canvas is that this tool allows for easy, visual representation for decision makers to think about. The tool provides a dissection of the major concerns impacting the business and also represents the direction the organization is taking through its business model. As author Dan Roam states, "visual thinking to solve complex problems" is what the BMC is all about. The Business Model Generation does have it strengths and weaknesses. Perhaps the main asset of the BMC is the visual illustration. One main drawback is the limited aim of an organization; that is, it targets profit generation and for non–profit purposes of an organization. The benefits will be touched on below, but the Osterwalder/Pigneu business model leaves out one key ingredient. Omitting the basic fact that competition is not mentioned in this theory seems to be a glaring omission. Advancement springs from competition and so does better customer service. In our reading, the business model canvas is a great tool that fosters "understanding, discussions, creativity and analysis." The nine basic blocks demonstrate ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The regiment falls under the command of the 2nd Marine Division of the II Marine Expeditionary Force. In 1917, the 6TH Marine Regiment was ativated on 11 July at Marine Corps Base Quantico, Virginia to fight in World War I1. In early 1918, 6TH Marine Regiment joined the 5TH Marine Regiment and the 6TH Machine Gun Battalion to form the 4TH Brigade. In March of 1918 near Verdun the Marine Brigade entered th trenches of the Toulon Sector, where the regiment suffered its first combat casualties1. Being forced to wear Army uniforms the only thing Marines had to to set themselves apart was a cover with an eagle globe and ancore. This did not sit will ith the marines so they desiged a patch. Gunnery Sergeant Bagley has done extensive research on the Montford Point Marines, and had the privilege of attending the Montford Marines' Congressional Gold Medal ceremony in June 2012. Ladies and gentlemen, Gunny Sergeant Bagley. [Attention] On display at the Montford Point Marine Museum at Camp Johnson, North Carolina is a Marine Corps dress blues uniform. The uniform is identical to any other set of dress blues worn by Marines through the mid–1940s. Just like any other set of dress blues, the Marine who wore them went through a grueling period of training to earn the right to wear this uniform. However, this particular dress uniform bears a different legacy of hardships and endurance than that of Marines who had come before. [Motivation] These blues belonged to Edgar Huff, the first African American to reach the rank of Sergeant Major in the Marine Corps and one of the first African Americans to be allowed to enlist in the Marine Corps. Sergeant Major Huff and nearly twenty–thousand other African Americans began a new legacy of service in the United States Marine Corps.
