1. FORCE 14 – 15 March 2013
From the Desk of the Reserve FORCE Master Chief:
The 98th Anniversary celebration was a complete success. The Chief of Navy
Reserve recognized 10 Chief Petty Officers who reflect the spirit and drive of our
force. As CNR said, “By their actions, they have excelled and motivated others to
excel”. VADM Braun also reflected on the Navy Reserve as a “determined and
responsive force known for flexibility and innovation”.
MCPON Stevens was the ceremony’s guest speaker. During his remarks, MCPON
recalled his time as a Navy Reservist and how those experiences helped prepare
him as he progressed through his career to his current role as MCPON. He also
recognized the flexibility and fortitude of the Navy Reserve, coupled with their
vast capacity and commitment to the total force. Thank You MCPON for honoring
us with your remarks and your continued support to our Reserve Force Sailors and
their families.
The Navy Reserve was established March 3, 1915 by the Naval Appropriations Act,
in support of World War I. Since 9/11, more than 65,000 Reserve Sailors have
been mobilized. Thank You to all of those that have served, who are currently
serving and to the families that support them.
