Christian Bao Biography
In the film Batman, Bale had bulk up after losing weight, for the role in the movie. Aside from that, he has been so called "difficult" with his mom and
sister, his mom and sister said that they were not going to watch him when he is on the red carpet because they had an argument on the night of his
London premiere of his last Batman film from four years ago."The real reason for the confrontation has never been revealed. But now Bale's
biographer reveals that it was caused by a previous row between his mother Jenny and his wife Sibi."(Dailymail.co.uk) There has been reports from
friends and family of his bad temper. "Christian felt like he was being treated like a child and would just lose it. His dad's biggest worry was that he

Bale's says that the moving has had a major influence on his acting career. Bale met his wife, Sibi, through Winona Ryder. He has a wife and two
children. Christian Bale was the first non–american actor for the role of Bruce Wayne/Batman. "Bale has resided in Los Angeles since 1992, when he
moved to the city with his father following his parents' divorce." " Believe it or not, Bale was originally cast to play George W. Bush in Oliver Stone's
biopic "W." –– even spending months learning the former president's mannerisms –– but ultimately dropped out due to issues with the prosthetics
involved" (Moviefone.com ) Bale's mother was a circus performer. "His stepmother is distinguished feminist Gloria Steinem, who married Bale's father
in 2000. It was Steinem's first marriage. Sadly, Bale's father passed away in 2003" (Moviefone.com ) Bale's first acting job was when he was eight
years old and it was acommercial for the fabric sofenter Lenor, a year later Bale appeared in a Pac–Man British commercial. Bale also beat Jake

Hairspray The Musical
Hairspray the musical was based out of the 1960's, and dealt with current issues for the time, like race, women's rights, religion and pop culture, and
the rise of technology. Dance was used in the film and musical performance, as most musicals have dance numbers. Hairspray used the dance
performances mostly in the show on the film. In some cases, the cast danced as a rebellion, or to show how the character was changing their point of
view. Quite a few of the dance moves involved hips, and shoulders, the dances also had quite interesting names like mashed potato, and the twist.
Those two dance moves were created to "liberate and recreate the way the world danced" (Dance Style of the 60s). This film is important to our
culture and society, because ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It was nominated for Best Motion Picture in the comedy genre of the Golden Globes, and did win Movies for Grownups award for best grownup
love story. That was John Travolta and Christopher Walken's part, as it was odd and quite very real. Nikki Blonski won best young actress for the
film, and the movie won Top Box Office Film at the ASCAP Awards. Hairspray had more nominations than anything, and compared to the wins, it
was quite low. The music, to be fair, is not that spectacular, but still entertaining none the less. Good Morning Baltimore is one of the more
memorable songs, as it is the opening number, and gives the audience a pretty good idea of the scene, and where it takes place. You also get a
good look at how the characters are going to be perceived by how they act in the first number. Most of the music in the film have a sort of blues
vibe, but also pop, so kind of an alternative genre. In one song in particular, "Ladies Choice," it sexualizes the main male lead, Link, as he calls
himself the ladies choice. It seems as if no matter what the main purpose of a film is, there is always going to be a romance, and an attractive male
role who makes all the girls swoon over. "Welcome to the Sixties" is a prime example of how the 60's were a turning point for technology. Tracy was

his only child to keep Glass sane, he combats first nationers as they intend to exact revenge upon the men that stole their land and a chief's daughter.
While scouting the land, Glass is attacked by a bear, left badly injured, Glass is taken care of by his company, for a while, that is. As soon as Glass

Necessity Is The Root Of Assimilation
Necessity is the root of assimilation. The need for safety through societal acceptance instills fear in individuals and families, causing them to fend
for themselves by conforming. Once there is a change in identity, one begins to move further away from their old self and almost immediately
begins to despise it; as though the attributes of the previous identity was a virus causing harm, and that needed to be renounced completely in order
to be protected from fully. In the 1999 film Sunshine, a single boy in an orphanage in Korczak questions his entire identity when he falls for a
German girl who can in no way like him back, solely because of his Jewish heritage. The boy begins to resent his roots, and distances himself from
Judaism and his Hebrew background. The director of the film, Istvan Szabo, has a close connection with the theme of the dissociation from one's
heritage. His film provides insight into the causes and purpose of the dissociation, as well as the root emotions and fears that are enhanced by such a
dissociation. Istvan Szabo's familial history and firsthand encounters with those who have dissociated themselves from their Jewish backgrounds
places him in a position of expertise on the topic, allowing him to create a remarkably accurate portrayal of what such a dissociation looks like from
inside a familial unit. To begin with, we should address the title of the film. The title Sunshine, creates an illusion of something warm, happy, and
necessary. It helps

Research Paper on the Fine Arts (Film): Shakespeare in Love
Fine art can be distinguished from applied arts due to its primary use for aesthetics and ever since the 17th century the term has been referred to art
forms. Five main forms of fine arts include sculpture, architecture, music, painting and poetry. In modern times, fine art has encompassed several other
forms such as photography, printmaking, and film. Fine arts in terms of film often refer to motion pictures, and the concept of film as a type of fine art
form. The process of producing films can be done by the recording of images with cameras, or by constructing images using different animation
techniques or different special effects. One of the reasons why film can be considered as a significant art form is due to the being a source of popular
entertainment, and this includes the ability of being able to educate the masses.
An example of a film delving the fine arts form is Shakespeare in Love. Shakespeare in Love is a film that was produced in 1988, and is classified as a
British romance–comedy–drama. This film is written by the playwright Tom Stoppard, and writer Marc Norman while the director of the film is
John Madden. The star lineups for the cast of Shakespeare in Love are Joseph Fiennes playing Will Shakespeare, Gwyneth Paltrow as Viola de

Elizabeth I of England. The setting of this film is basically set in the late

Passion on Screen and Real Life: Ava Gardner in Mogambo
Cinema fans love to expound on the lives and careers of their favorite classic film stars. Though few young people in the current day and age have a
true understanding of the difficulties that came with being a young starlet, in particular being taken seriously as a performer. This is particularly true of
Ava Gardner, who was regarded as just a pretty face for a majority of her career. Gardner really only gained respect after her performance as Honey

I was just a pretty little girl." This led to her getting interesting roles where she said few lines. She finally got a lucky break when she was cast as
femme fatale Kitty Collins in 1946's The Killers along side Burt Lancaster's Ole 'Swede" Anderson. The Killers was wildly successful in its time
racking up two and a half million and sealing its place in film noir history. This is the film that established Gardner as a star, but it really only
solidified her as a pretty face. A majority of her roles following The Killers were femme fatale characters or boring loving interests for her male costars,
such as East Side, West Side (1949) and The Bribe (1949). Despite her success she was still not thought of as an actress. Her roles were one
dimensional and as David Meuel points out in his book Women in the Films of John Ford she was "far better known for her sex appeal that her
acting ability." In fact, Gardner was a source of wild gossip due to her hard drinking, swearing, and public love life. Her three marriages were the
primary source of gossip, particular her relationship with singer Frank Sinatra. At twenty four, she was already divorced from Mickey Rooney,
married unhappily to Artie Shaw, and rejecting proposals from eccentric Howard Hughes. Grobel points out that "It was Mickey Rooney and Howard
Hughes and Artie Shaw and Frank Sinatra and most of the men who caught a whiff of Ava and became intoxicated." Her

Obsessive Compulsive Disorders: A Case Study
"Mental health professionals make the diagnosis of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder based on three criteria: 1. Do you have obsessions? 2. Do you
have compulsions? 3. Do these obsessions and compulsions significantly interfere with your day–to–day functioning?" (Thomas 36). Many people live
their day–to–day life dealing with OCD. Leonardo Dicaprio is one of those people.
OCD is an anxiety disorder that causes a discomfort that cannot be controlled (Thomas 10). Ordinarily, people who suffer from OCD have obsessions

are afraid of seeking help or telling others about their OCD (133). On top of that, two to three percent of people have been diagnosed with OCD
(Watkins 41). Although it is a chronic disorder and has higher rates than schizophrenia, no two people ever have the same symptoms due to the fact
everyone is different (Thomas 79). Despite the fact that people already had OCD, it truly became famous because of Leonardo Dicaprio. Being an

Marilyn started off being in movies but she was never really the "star" of the film until 1953 when the movie Niagara came out. This movie is a

Polly and Ray. Once they get to know each other Polly thinks Ray and Rose have something going on between them. In the end Ray and Rose
were planning on killing Rose's husband George. This was Marilyn's biggest movie that made her popular. In the same year Marilyn starred in a

Rocky 1976
Sports films are one of the most common genres in the movie industry. They usually have a simple plot leading to a huge sporting event. There are
several different ways to write a sports story: sports, biography, comedy, drama, or even family movies. The 1976 film Rocky is an excellent example
of a sports drama. "A sports drama incorporates dramatic elements into a sports storyline."1 Rocky is a classic sports–drama. It influenced the film
industry through its success, cinematography, and plot. Rocky changed the film industry through its success. The movie won a Golden Globe award

This created a sense of realism that filmmakers try to copy to this day. With such a low budget, Alvidsen had to make do with what he had so he was
forced to film a small group of people crowded together multiple times to create the feeling of a large crowd. He also had to ask Stallone to re–write
some scenes because of their lack of funds for extras and equipment. This acted as a way to show how gritty and raw this story really was. Due to
the low budget of the film; Alvidsen had to make do with the resources they had and then incorporated the situation into the plot of the film. It made
the film very realistic and believable. For example, the ice rink scene was supposed to have a crowded rink. But, they couldn't afford all the extras
so they had to change the script, and it became a closed rink in which the camera stayed focused on only Rocky and Adrian the whole time. Rocky
influenced the film industry through its plot. The main plot of Rocky is the main character's desire to make his or her life better. This theme is one of
the most common themes in films. Rocky's effect on this type of theme was monumental though because it was one of the first of its kind to be made
with a small budget, unknown cast, and limited resources. This proves that this film is unique by showing how differently the director and actors

Musical Music Vs Musical Movies
Musical films are those that involve singing and dancing as the main elements by combining performances of songs and dances. They are usually
performed by the main characters, but they can also bring multiples characters into one musical scene. Movies that bring occasional musical scenes,
such as Dooley Wilson's rendition of "As Time Goes By" in Casablanca (1943) movie, are most likely not to be considered a musicalfilm. Musical
movies are known for combine movement and sound as the two basic but most important elements of the film medium. In these type of movies, the
characters communicate or express emotions through songs and dance, allowing viewers to experience powerful and heart touching scenes through
beautiful and meaningful lyrics. Dancing can also bring a wide variety of emotions even in sad scenes because characters can put an emotional
message behind their physical movements (http://www.filmreference.com). Choosing films that have similarities and share the same genre was not
an easy task but selecting musical movies became an easy choice. Choosing two films of similar nature and cultural importance was the main goal.
Therefore, Singin' in the Rain (1952) and La La Land (2016) is the perfect matches since they share more than their fair share of striking similarities
and differences. Singin' in the Rain was directed by Stanley Donen and Gene Kelly who was one the main characters along Debbie Reynolds and

Especially in a scene where Bickle saves a manВЎВЇs life from a robbery where he gets away with murder as the clerk would beat up the dead
manВЎВЇs body. Though it might have seem gruesome at the time, Scorsese doesnВЎВЇt pull back where he doesnВЎВЇt give any clear answer of
Bickle, in the terms of becoming normal. This is by far some top–notch directing from one of NYCВЎВЇs greatest visionaries.
In TaxiDriver, Scorsese manages his camera angles and editing to emphasize Travis seeing the world through glass or mirrors, especially the
windshield and rear–view mirror of the taxi, through which all major characters enter Taxi Driver: Betsy through the panes of an all–– glass office;

Analysis Of The Sound Of Music
A girl named Maria is trying to become a nun at an abbey in Salzburg, Austria. However, she leaves the abbey to take care of a Navy Captain's
seven children. Ever since the Captain's wife died, he became very strict with his children. The children have already chased away many governesses
with their misbehavior and it isn't until later that they begin to treat Maria with the same kindness she treats them with. When a thunderstorm scares
the children, Maria sings the song "My Favorite Things" to comfort them. Through music and dancing, Maria brings joy back into the household.
Meanwhile, the Captain becomes engaged to a Baroness even though he is falling in love with Maria. In spite of that, the Captain does not approve of
Maria's behavior and fires her. However, the Captain realizes his mistake when he hears his children singing and apologizes to Maria. During a party,
the Baroness convinces Maria to return to the abbey. At the convent, Mother Abbess finds out what happened and sends Maria to go back to the
Captain. The Captain breaks his engagement with the Baroness and marries Maria instead. When Maria and the Captain return from their honeymoon,
they find out that the Captain has been requested to serve in the German navy. The movie ends with the whole family escaping Nazi officers and
leaving Austria. The Sound of Music is the most successful film of the 1960s because of its financial success, amazing soundtrack, and beautiful
scenery.

Summary Of The Film 'The Graduate'
The iconic film The Graduate, directed by Mike Nichols shows the common struggle of a quarter–life crisis that most graduates face. Even though this
film was released in 1967, its message is still very relevant today and revolutionary for its time. This Drama/Romance film was groundbreaking due to
its use of sex and coming–of–age politics. The film won an Academy Award for best director and A Golden Globe for best director, best motion
picture and best actress. All these awards were made possible due to the film's choice of screenplay, editing/ cinematographic choices, and secondary
narrative.
The Graduates screenplay was based on the 1963 novel by Charles Webb where he really put himself in his character's shoes so that authenticity would

The use of screenplay in the film gave the story multiple layers that only watching the film more than once will expose. The film's editing and
cinematography also helped the film gain the reputation it has today. The use of long scenes, transitions and symbolic zooms helped give the
viewer a sense of time and emotions that took place throughout the film. Lastly The Graduate's secondary narrative added an extra depth to the film
by its use of allegories and symbols. Even though The Graduate was released in 1967 the film will remain a legacy due to topic, it depicts an entire
nation feeling's after graduation or even after getting married. It shows uncertainty which for most films at this time was unheard of and for most
films today as well. It gives an insight to the real emotions of the world once University is complete causing people to be captivated with the story for

Stars By Richard Dyer Summary And Analysis
Stars are the faces we see and admire on television. We as a society see stars and immediately want to experience what they experience and we want
to understand them. We see stars as superficial beings. We see the roles they play in movies and television and only the major things that producers
want us to see. Richard Dyer, film critic and author of "Stars" asserts that stars are constructed to an audience so they can relate to them and easily
identify with them.We connect to the star based on a feature that we admire or share. This development from an admiration to an idolization pushes an
attempt to replicate what society admires in the star. This can either be a positive role or negative role. For example, for someone who admires
Leonardo DiCaprio, they might want to donate to his foundation supporting the economy and climate change. While others may idolize and want
to behave like Lindsay Lohan and experiment with drugs. This skews what teenagers and kids see as 'cool'. Many of the reasons why young
women want to appear thin is because of the stars we see on television. Many female stars have an hourglass shape to them, large breasts, flat
stomach, and wide hips. If one were to google the perfect body, studies about how we view the perfect body arise, as well as an article about the
perfect Kardashian body and how to get one are the first links that appear. Richard Dyer presents an idea in his book "Stars" that examines the
social types of stars. He analyzes their indigenous role in how society functions through the history of film production. Dyer describes the
characteristics of stardom as ordinariness, success, love, and consumption. Ordinariness is sought for in the eyes of stars because that is necessary to
relate to the public. If society viewed stars as another species or not human, no one would have the desire to be a star and they would become
unrelatable. High school students have been utilizing the idea of '#relatable' or '#me' for years because generally, people have the aspiration to relate to
others. Neil Patrick Harris got married three years ago to David Burtka, and three years later he made a post expressing his joy and gratitude that he
was able to marry the love of his life. The

Billy Wilder Research Paper
Billy Wilder (1906– 2002), Austrian–born American filmmaker, screenwriter, producer, artist and journalist, was one of those remarkable and highly
talented directors that could create dramas and comedies with ease, influential and versatile with a career spanning fifty years, Wilder left an indelible
mark during Hollywood's Golden Era of filmmaking. "With The Apartment, Wilder became the first person to win Academy Awards as producer,
director and screenwriter for the same film" (Wikipedia). He was born Samuel Wilder, in the 1920s he took an interest in writing and filmmaking, but
left Germany when Adolf Hitler rose to power. Wilder moved to Paris and made his directorial debut with the French film Mauvaise graine (Bad
Seed) in 1934. Most of Wilder's family all died during the Holocaust. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Wilder teamed up with writing partner, Charles Brackett, and together they wrote some of Hollywood's best classic comedies like Ninotchka (1939)
starring Greta Garbo and Melvyn Douglas, and he was able to weave melodramatic films as well. Wilder's directing style is most comfortable with
cynical humor matched with witty dialogue, that made him perfect for creating satirical films based on the absurd, and easily blended these with his
approach on film noirs. "Wilder consistently pushed the limits of the U.S. censorship of the day with his provocative choice of subject matter that
include adultery, Double Indemnity (1944), alcoholism, The Lost Weekend (1945), and the younger, kept man, Sunset Boulevard (1950)" (Schneider

Concepts In Inception
Inception Inception was released in 2010, and the film was given a slightly futuristic atmosphere, but a specific date was not clarified. The main
character, Dom Cobb (Leonardo DiCaprio), possesses a skill that allows him to access the subconscious minds of sleeping people to observe their
dreams and acquire information found only there. His behavior and practices are deviant in that they are abnormal, illegal in that world, and generally
frowned upon; he also teaches others to do what he does– extraction. His partner, Arthur (Joseph Gordon–Levitt), is also an extractor, as well as his
only student at the time, Ariadne (Ellen Page) (IMDB.com). In Inception, the film displays the apparent reality of the Thomas Theorem– "If men define
situations as real, they are real in their consequences" (Thomas, W.I., Thomas, D.S.) (Thomas). Cobb and his team create realities so as to collect vital,
secret information they would not otherwise have access to, and in those realities, are levels. More dreams, dreams within dreams. ... Show more

Every action made has consequences in multiple realities. A good example of this is when Saito (Ken Watanabe) (IMDB.com) is shot in the second
level of three dreams, and he eventually starts bleeding in the outside world, where a dream is just a dream, not a subconscious to be exploited.
Eventually, Saito dies from his injuries, and is sent into Limbo, a place where the subconscious is never–ending, and itself is unaware of the difference
of this reality and the real world, thus the person in Limbo is indefinitely

The Blind Side Movie Analysis
The movie The Blind Side came out in 2009, written and directed by John Lee Hancock. This movie is based off a true story that has a lot of great
lessons with in its. There are quite a few famous people within the movie starting off with one of the main charters Sandra Bullock, and even the likes
of Tim McGraw and Kathy Bates. The movie deals with several different issues including race and parental involvement to point out two. This movie
has a great deal of football and family which is why it helped Sandra Bullock win so many awards including an Oscar for Best Performance by and
Actress in a Leading Role, a Golden Globe for Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture, and even as a whole movie in 2010 won the
Teen Choice Award for Choice Movie: Drama. This was my first time seeing The Blind Side, it was always talked highly about, but I just never
seemed to get a chance to watch it. I believe I enjoyed waiting it out now even more. When this first came out I wouldn't be able to connect to it as
much as I can now, seeing the struggle, the racial issues, and unofficial parental support really made this interesting. College really opened my eyes
into this world and showed me how culturally unaware I was. I now work with a lot of underprivileged kids and hear stories from some of the
young kids and how they really don't have any plans for the future, or how they basically feel as if they are rising themselves. I now feel more
motivated to step up and help them like

The Matchmaker Analysis
The golden age of the big–budget musical may remain lost to the annals of old Hollywood, some may argue that classics will always be better than
their reimagined counterparts, but this is hardly the case in all circumstances. The 1969 big screen adaptation of Hello, Dolly! proves that sometimes
the original star power of a cast can be overridden decades later. The 2017 Broadway revival ofHello Dolly! supports the idea that while people may
become accustomed to hearing a song a certain way, a new interpretation of the materials can lead to blockbuster success. Despite the glitter and
grandeur of the on–screen film adaptation's costuming and set design, the 2017 iteration of the musical, based on Thornton Wilder's play The
Matchmaker, shows that big budgets and sweeping landscapes are not needed; opting to go with garishly bright pastels and impeccable choreography
to stir the imaginations and win the hearts of millions of theatergoers.
Starring Barbra Streisand and Walter Matthau, the 1969 film certainly attempted to bring the star power but "hostility that developed between Walter
Matthau and Barbra Streisand" (TCM) turned into anything but a love story when presented on the big screen. Both actors shared a mutual dislike
that caused a very clear disconnect onset, where Matthau "refused to be in the same room as Streisand unless they were filming" (TCM). In front of
the camera, Mathau comes across as a crass old businessman who cares for no one but himself, while

The Revenant Themes
The genre I chose to review for the month of October was an American Movie, The Revenant. Directed by Alejandro GonzГЎlez IГ±ГЎrritu this film
is set in 1823 in Montana and South Dakota and the main character is Hugh Glass played by Leonardo DiCaprio. Hugh Glass is a frontiersman who is
half Native–American and has a Native American son named Hawk. The movie revolves around his struggles as a father and his comeback after
being attacked by a bear and almost dying, losing his son, and being left behind by his own men. In the end a Native American chief kills the man
who killed Glass's son. The last scene show Glass falling to his knees and seeing a vision of his dead wife walking into the light and then Glass's eyes

The movie also has merit because of the emotion that is displayed by the main characters during their long and difficult journey throughout the movie.
Overall, The Revenant was an emotional and suspenseful journey through Hugh Glass's struggles as an American Frontiersman.
The connection to American culture is strong in this movie because of its setting and the characters involved. The setting is in South Dakota and
Montana. The time period is the winter of 1823, a popular time for the American Frontier. Many of the scenes in the movie show extreme cold and
lots of snow. For example, when Hugh Glass is wounded and running from an Indian Tribe on a horse, he jumps off a cliff with the horse. He then
precedes to open the horse and gut it. Then he goes inside of the horse and falls asleep. This horse's bodies saved him from the hearse cold that ended
up freezing the whole outside of the horse. Tofilm this obscene cold, the movie was actually filmed in Calgary and Alberta, Canada because their is
more frontier–like land up north in less developed and less traveled land. Watching the movie, there was no distinctive difference between current

The beginnings and ends of what we choose to call centuries are almost invariably years of little significance. But there is little agreement over when
the twentieth century c.e. arrived, and there were several points both before the year 2000 (the collapse of the Soviet Union, the reunification of
Germany, the surge of globalization from the mid–1990s) and afterward (9/11, or the global recession of 2008) when one could quite plausibly argue
that a new era had begun. A compelling case can be made for viewing the decades of the global scramble for colonies after 1870 as a predictable
culmination of the long nineteenth century, which was ushered in by the industrial and political revolutions of the late 1700s. But at the same time,
without serious attention to the processes and misguided policies that led to decades of agrarian and industrial depression from the late 1860s to the
1890s, as well as the social tensions and political rivalries that generated and were in turn fed by imperialist expansionism, one cannot begin to
comprehend the causes and consequences of the Great War that began in 1914. That conflict determined the contours of the twentieth century in
myriad ways. On the one hand, the war set in motion transformative processes that were clearly major departures from those that defined the
nineteenth–century world order. On the other, it perversely unleashed forces

The Life Of Audrey Hepburn
One of Hollywood's greatest style icons Audrey Hepburn finished the last five years of her life as an ambassador for United Nations Children's
Fund (UNICEF). Her commitment to helping children was influenced by her adolescent years. This point of view arose from her time in
Netherlands during World War II. Hepburn's slender figure unlike most actresses was due to malnutrition during this time. As a result of the Nazis
taking control of the food supply her mother and her struggled to survive. (Biography.com Editors) A majority of their food came from eating tulip
bulbs. After the war she pursued her dancing career and landed spots in musicals and plays in 1948. (Bibel, S) Just a little later she made her film
debut and her acting career... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(ahepburn.com) When meeting with government officials her knowledge of the areas proved to the men and women she was conversing with that
she was not just a pretty figure head but that she truly cared and was devoted to making a change. This idea of making an impression correlates to
the theory of self presentation. Self presentation theory is where "everyday setting are viewed as a stage and people are considered actors who use
performances to make an impression on an audience." (Page #) Jack Glattback said that "she spoke four minutes to camera and covered every point
from the discussion she didn't understand...it got seven minutes on ABC primetime news and incredible TV pickup around the world." (ahepburn.com)
Hepburn's experience as an actress helped her through her career with UNICEF in situations such as this one. She was able to act comfortable and
position herself with confidence to talk about this topic and be able to give off the impression that she was knowledgeable about the

Why Is Audrey Hepburn Important To The World
"The best thing to hold onto in life is each other" (Audrey Hepburn, n.d.). This quote by Audrey Hepburn shows that she cared very deeply about
working together. Audrey Hepburn created many movies, used thinking flexibly to overcome World War II, and illuminated the world by using
kindness to help others as a UNICEF ambassador. Audrey Hepburn created more than 20 movies. Four of her most popular include Roman Holiday,
My Fair Lady, Breakfast at Tiffany's, and Funny Face ("Audrey Hepburn," 1998). She was awarded an Academy Award and an Oscar for Best Actress
in Roman Holiday ("Audrey Hepburn," 1998). Audrey also received Best Actress nominations for Breakfast at Tiffany's, The Nun's Story, and Wait

such a beautiful and talented actress. Audrey Hepburn took a difficult childhood and effortlessly turned it into a gilded fairytale.
Early in life Audrey was faced with both social and family oriented conflicts. Her parents fought and in 1938 her father left Audrey and her mother.
Audrey recalls the leaving of her father as "'the most traumatic event in my life.'" As a young child it is difficult to cope with parents
arguing and even more emotional damage was brought upon Audrey with the leaving of her father. As a result of her father's absence Audrey had
problems socially. Audrey was teased for her size, the way she spoke, andhershyness. She drowned her emotions in food and as a result she was larger
than most children.("Audrey Hepburn Biography" 1). Many would see Audrey's emotional problems as

The Diverse Roles of Women in Movies Essay
The Diverse Roles of Women in Movies
In society we have a lot of women actresses. Some tend to play the motherly type, some play the manipulator type and some even play the victims of
abusive relationships. No matter what women seem to be coming up in the industry of movies in more ways than before. The three movies I have
chosen to analyze in my critique are Heartbreakers, Baby Boy and Stepmom. These three movies all have women in them that either play a major role
or the main role. All their roles are very different in character and none of the women in these three movies play a similar role.
In the movie Heartbreakers the two main women are Jennifer Love Hewitt (the daughter) and Sigourney Weaver (the mother). These two ... Show more

The second movie in which a woman plays a major role in is Baby Boy. This movie, I believe did not do too much damage to the box offices when
it first came out, but it sure portrayed women in a very negative way. The main character is actually a man by the name of Tyrese Gibson. He plays
a boy who is struggling to grow up and become not only an independent adult, but also a responsible father (to more than one child). The main
female role in the movie is Tyrese's baby's mother. She is in love with him and would do anything to keep him happy. She let's him use her car and
she let's him stay at her place at any time with her and their son. He cheats on her a lot and at one point even hits her. This was a major part in the
movie. He had promised her he would never lay his hands on her and he did. She stopped talking to him for quite some time, and that whole time you
could sense they were both miserable without eachother. Some men tend to hurt women for the simple facts that they just don't know how to control
their anger or because they were never taught good communication skills. They end up telling one another that they can't live without each other and
they get back together. She ends up getting pregnant by him again and they get married and live happily ever after. Moral of the story: Teens trying to

Auntie Mame Irreverent Escapade
Based on the best–selling novel Auntie Mame: An Irreverent Escapade by Edward Everett Tanner III, turned to a popular Broadway musical,
Auntie Mame finally graced hopeful audiences in theaters during the late fifties (Krebs). Directed by Morton DaCosta, whose previous experiences
consisted of several other Broadway hits as of The Music Man and No Time for Sergeants, the claimed musical film of Auntie Mame was in fact no
musical due to its lack of any melodic scenes (Shepard). Relating more to a mixture of comedy, drama, and romance genres, Auntie Mame was a
sensation for its time, winning a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress and Motion Picture ("Auntie Mame Awards"). Auntie Mame today remains as
an obscured gem of the past; despite its age,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Appealing to an older audience, the movie often gives bolstering sections of humor that may draw attention from children audience members, however,
several puns can be lost on the audience if they are ignorant of the subject. Compensating for the misguided audience members, the actors themselves
provide for entertaining and striking performances. Emotional and seemingly genuine personalities produced by the actors embody the characters
which causes connection with the audience. Yet another fine feature of Auntie Mame is the movie's settings. Just as unique and colorful as Auntie
Mame herself, the settings accurately depict a wide array of places and provides subtle details which could give the audience a longing to re–watch the
movie. Despite the comical aspects, excellent performances, and distinct settings, the movie isn't flawless. Due to Auntie Mame's age, modern
audiences may dislike the hazy video quality that the movie possesses. Otherwise than the poor picture qualities, the movie's 'graphic effects' are also
inferior to today's films. In scenes of dangerous actions an observant audience may be able to locate the use of stunt doubles which detracts from the
audiences' experience. However, with numerous superb characteristics the movie has, audiences are likely to overlook these measly deficient

Hairspray The Musical Hairspray the musical was based out of the 1960's, and dealt with current issues for the time, like race, women's rights, religion and pop culture, and the rise of technology. Dance was used in the film and musical performance, as most musicals have dance numbers. Hairspray used the dance performances mostly in the show on the film. In some cases, the cast danced as a rebellion, or to show how the character was changing their point of view. Quite a few of the dance moves involved hips, and shoulders, the dances also had quite interesting names like mashed potato, and the twist. Those two dance moves were created to "liberate and recreate the way the world danced" (Dance Style of the 60s). This film is important to our culture and society, because ... That was John Travolta and Christopher Walken's part, as it was odd and quite very real. Nikki Blonski won best young actress for the film, and the movie won Top Box Office Film at the ASCAP Awards. Hairspray had more nominations than anything, and compared to the wins, it was quite low. The music, to be fair, is not that spectacular, but still entertaining none the less. Good Morning Baltimore is one of the more memorable songs, as it is the opening number, and gives the audience a pretty good idea of the scene, and where it takes place. You also get a good look at how the characters are going to be perceived by how they act in the first number. Most of the music in the film have a sort of blues vibe, but also pop, so kind of an alternative genre. In one song in particular, "Ladies Choice," it sexualizes the main male lead, Link, as he calls himself the ladies choice. It seems as if no matter what the main purpose of a film is, there is always going to be a romance, and an attractive male role who makes all the girls swoon over. "Welcome to the Sixties" is a prime example of how the 60's were a turning point for technology. Tracy was trying to get her mother into the trends and fads of the new ... • 11. Necessity Is The Root Of Assimilation Necessity is the root of assimilation. The need for safety through societal acceptance instills fear in individuals and families, causing them to fend for themselves by conforming. Once there is a change in identity, one begins to move further away from their old self and almost immediately begins to despise it; as though the attributes of the previous identity was a virus causing harm, and that needed to be renounced completely in order to be protected from fully. In the 1999 film Sunshine, a single boy in an orphanage in Korczak questions his entire identity when he falls for a German girl who can in no way like him back, solely because of his Jewish heritage. The boy begins to resent his roots, and distances himself from Judaism and his Hebrew background. The director of the film, Istvan Szabo, has a close connection with the theme of the dissociation from one's heritage. His film provides insight into the causes and purpose of the dissociation, as well as the root emotions and fears that are enhanced by such a dissociation. Istvan Szabo's familial history and firsthand encounters with those who have dissociated themselves from their Jewish backgrounds places him in a position of expertise on the topic, allowing him to create a remarkably accurate portrayal of what such a dissociation looks like from inside a familial unit. To begin with, we should address the title of the film. The title Sunshine, creates an illusion of something warm, happy, and necessary. It helps ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Research Paper on the Fine Arts (Film): Shakespeare in Love Fine art can be distinguished from applied arts due to its primary use for aesthetics and ever since the 17th century the term has been referred to art forms. An example of a film delving the fine arts form is Shakespeare in Love. Shakespeare in Love is a film that was produced in 1988, and is classified as a British romance–comedy–drama. This is particularly true of Ava Gardner, who was regarded as just a pretty face for a majority of her career. She finally got a lucky break when she was cast as femme fatale Kitty Collins in 1946's The Killers along side Burt Lancaster's Ole 'Swede" Anderson. The Killers was wildly successful in its time racking up two and a half million and sealing its place in film noir history. This is the film that established Gardner as a star, but it really only solidified her as a pretty face. A majority of her roles following The Killers were femme fatale characters or boring loving interests for her male costars, such as East Side, West Side (1949) and The Bribe (1949). Despite her success she was still not thought of as an actress. Her roles were one dimensional and as David Meuel points out in his book Women in the Films of John Ford she was "far better known for her sex appeal that her acting ability." In fact, Gardner was a source of wild gossip due to her hard drinking, swearing, and public love life. Her three marriages were the primary source of gossip, particular her relationship with singer Frank Sinatra. At twenty four, she was already divorced from Mickey Rooney, married unhappily to Artie Shaw, and rejecting proposals from eccentric Howard Hughes. He also had to ask Stallone to re–write some scenes because of their lack of funds for extras and equipment. This acted as a way to show how gritty and raw this story really was. Due to the low budget of the film; Alvidsen had to make do with the resources they had and then incorporated the situation into the plot of the film. It made the film very realistic and believable. For example, the ice rink scene was supposed to have a crowded rink. • 18. Musical Music Vs Musical Movies Musical films are those that involve singing and dancing as the main elements by combining performances of songs and dances. They are usually performed by the main characters, but they can also bring multiples characters into one musical scene. Movies that bring occasional musical scenes, such as Dooley Wilson's rendition of "As Time Goes By" in Casablanca (1943) movie, are most likely not to be considered a musicalfilm. Musical movies are known for combine movement and sound as the two basic but most important elements of the film medium. In these type of movies, the characters communicate or express emotions through songs and dance, allowing viewers to experience powerful and heart touching scenes through beautiful and meaningful lyrics. • 22. Stars By Richard Dyer Summary And Analysis Stars are the faces we see and admire on television. We as a society see stars and immediately want to experience what they experience and we want to understand them. We see stars as superficial beings. We see the roles they play in movies and television and only the major things that producers want us to see. Richard Dyer, film critic and author of "Stars" asserts that stars are constructed to an audience so they can relate to them and easily identify with them.We connect to the star based on a feature that we admire or share. This development from an admiration to an idolization pushes an attempt to replicate what society admires in the star. This can either be a positive role or negative role. For example, for someone who admires Leonardo DiCaprio, they might want to donate to his foundation supporting the economy and climate change. While others may idolize and want to behave like Lindsay Lohan and experiment with drugs. This skews what teenagers and kids see as 'cool'. Many of the reasons why young women want to appear thin is because of the stars we see on television. Many female stars have an hourglass shape to them, large breasts, flat stomach, and wide hips. If one were to google the perfect body, studies about how we view the perfect body arise, as well as an article about the perfect Kardashian body and how to get one are the first links that appear. Richard Dyer presents an idea in his book "Stars" that examines the social types of stars. He analyzes their indigenous role in how society functions through the history of film production. Dyer describes the characteristics of stardom as ordinariness, success, love, and consumption. Ordinariness is sought for in the eyes of stars because that is necessary to relate to the public. If society viewed stars as another species or not human, no one would have the desire to be a star and they would become unrelatable. High school students have been utilizing the idea of '#relatable' or '#me' for years because generally, people have the aspiration to relate to others. The Matchmaker Analysis The golden age of the big–budget musical may remain lost to the annals of old Hollywood, some may argue that classics will always be better than their reimagined counterparts, but this is hardly the case in all circumstances. The 1969 big screen adaptation of Hello, Dolly! proves that sometimes the original star power of a cast can be overridden decades later. The 2017 Broadway revival ofHello Dolly! supports the idea that while people may become accustomed to hearing a song a certain way, a new interpretation of the materials can lead to blockbuster success. Despite the glitter and grandeur of the on–screen film adaptation's costuming and set design, the 2017 iteration of the musical, based on Thornton Wilder's play The Matchmaker, shows that big budgets and sweeping landscapes are not needed; opting to go with garishly bright pastels and impeccable choreography to stir the imaginations and win the hearts of millions of theatergoers. Starring Barbra Streisand and Walter Matthau, the 1969 film certainly attempted to bring the star power but "hostility that developed between Walter Matthau and Barbra Streisand" (TCM) turned into anything but a love story when presented on the big screen. Both actors shared a mutual dislike that caused a very clear disconnect onset, where Matthau "refused to be in the same room as Streisand unless they were filming" (TCM).
