Opening Prayer
Let us have an ecumenical
prayer first.
Greetings
Good afternoon, class!
Collection of assignment
Please pass your assignment
to the front then from the front to the
center.
1. Review
Class, let’s have a short recall on our
previous topic.
What have we discussed last
meeting?
Very good, anybody from the class
who will share about what you have
learned from our last topic?
Yes! Mr__________
I’m glad that you still remember our
previous lesson
Prayer
Good afternoon sir Mabubay
(Submission of Assignment)
Sir we discussed about resistors
Answer may vary
2. 2. Motivation
Direction: Study the traffic light on the
board and identify its color based on
the traffic lights color code.
3. Presentation of the lesson
Our topic for today has something to
do with the traffic lights color code
At the end of the lesson you are
expected to:
1. Identify resistor color coding
2. Understand the use of resistor color
coding table
3. Calculate the value of resistor using
resistor color coding table.
A. Developmental Activity
1. Activity
Before we discuss our topic I will
divide the class into four groups and
each group will be given 4 pieces of
¼ watt resistors .
Direction. Write the color of each
resistor on a piece of paper and identify
what color would be the first bond or
comes first up to fourth bond.
1. RED- STOP
2. GREEN-GO
3. YELLOW-SLOW DOWN
3. 2. Discussion
what are the three most
characteristics of a resistors?
How the Resistance of the
Resistors Measured?
How do we know which color
corresponds to which number?
What is resistor color code?
4- Band Resistors
1.
Tolerance will have 4-bands
2. Convert nominal value to
3. 1st digit (from left to right) of
nominal value = 1st color band
4. 2nd digit of nominal value =
2nd band
5. Number of zeros remaining =
3rd (multiplier) band
6. Tolerance = 4th band
5-Band Resistors
1.
Tolerance will have 5-bands
1. Resistance Nominal Value
2. Tolerance
3. Power Rating
Trough it’s color bands
By using the Resistor Color Code.
Resistor color code uses color bonds to
easily identify a resistors resistive value
and its percentage tolerance.
4. 2. Convert nominal value to
3. 1st digit (from left to right) of
nominal value = 1st color band
4. 2nd digit of nominal value =
2nd band
5. 3rd digit of nominal value =
3rd band
6. Number of zeros remaining =
4th (multiplier) band
7. Tolerance = 5th band
Tolerance Bands
To calculate tolerance range
1. Determine the resistors stated
resistance
2. Multiply the stated resistance
times (x) the tolerance percentage.
3. Add and Subtract your
tolerance figure from the stated
resistance to identify the acceptable
range.
3. Analysis
2,200 Ω x .05 (or 5%)
= +/- 110 Ohms
tolerance Maximum
2,200 Ω + 110 Ω = 2310 Ω
Minimum
2,200 Ω – 110 Ω = 2090 Ω

4. Abstraction
Class, what have you learned about
our topic this day?
Okay very good, in your opinion
what is the essence of knowing on
how to read the resistors color code?
5. Application
The teacher will group the student into
three. The teacher will provide the colored
resistors.
Each group will get five colored resistor.
They will calculate the resistance and get
the maximum and minimum tolerance of
the colored resistors.
They will write their answer with solution
to one whole sheet of paper.
IV.ASSESSSMENT
1.
1000 ohm x 0.2
=+/- 20% tolerance
Maximum 1000+ 20=1020 ohms
Minimum 1000-20=980 ohms
Students answers may vary.
