Poor management regarding the quality of the product has been evident by the 64 roll $100, 000 error. If Portland branch is to remain operational,
extensive retraining of management and employees regarding business expectations, quality and process management in order for the plant's poor
quality approach on its product continue to affect and will likely result of loss of reputation by REXAM corporate office which affect them financially.
Clear instructions and objectives must be directed to the Portland plant management. Poorly maintained equipment and uninformed staff along with
poor management process has all contributed to the low morale of the employees. Procedures, quality management has been some of the failure so
far. In the interest of quality, a new or refurbished machinery will be in place at the Portland plant and along with it will be proper Re–education of all
employees regarding the importance of quality, proper business approach, production process and procedure should be in place
Proper recording of maintenance of equipment should also be observed religiously and periodically, either beginning of the job and after or what the
manufacturer suggest. Proper maintenance would dramatically reduce errors and will improve overhead costs.

Thankfully, the Baldrige principles changed my perspective on quality. As such, I now use a few of the principles to grade an organization. The main
principles I find myself grading an organization with are visionary leadership, customer–centered excellence, valuing workforce members and partners
and societal responsibility. All eleven of the principles are important. However, these tend to be the most important to me when defining the quality of
an organization.
For instance, I now purchase many products from the Newman's Own brand based on the principles I have mentioned. They have a strong sense
of societal responsibility and ensure "100% of profits to charity" is an underlying theme in all they do (Newman 's Own, n.d.). This drew me
towards them as a company, then I noticed how much they value their employees and how their core values tend to line up with the 11 Baldrige
principles (Newman 's Own, n.d.). After looking into this company and seeing how they operate, I decided to purchase as many products as I could
from them and ensure other people were aware of their mission. This is something that would never have been in my realm of possibilities prior to

Quality assurance can be defined as a system to monitor to and evaluate a product or a service. It identifying and recommending measures to make

Even though Deming, Juran, and Crosby all have similarities between their key principles in quality management there are several aspects that are
different to the approaches. They all recognize the importance of measurement to improve quality; however, the level of importance each emphasizes
is different. Crosby and Juran view the cost of quality as the focus of measurement whereas Deming does not use the cost of quality as a focus
(Suarez, 1992, p.18). To Deming, meeting the customers' needs and expectations about a product or service is of higher importance to quality. He also
considers unknown costs such as the impact of lost customers to be more significant than visible costs (Suarez, 1992, p.18).
Deming, Juran, and Crosby all define quality in different ways. Deming defines quality as a continuous improvement and the ultimate goal is zero
defects; however, he realizes an error free product may not be economically feasible or practical (Kerzner, 2009, p. 880). Deming also states a product
or service is defined by the customer and quality is a relative term and will change based on the customer's needs (Suarez, 1992, p.3)
Juran's definition of quality focuses 100% of the customer's satisfaction of the product. He stresses a balance between product features and products
