Turban Monologue
Prologue: Vibrant hues of orange and yellow were smeared together and they played with violent
shades of red. The rising sun rested in a bed of golden rose, cotton clouds. Its rays of light spilling
over the hills like pale orange paint. At least, that's what I imagined this sunrise would look like in a
world without skyscrapers and other assorted buildings suffocating the horizon, sucking the life out
of the beauty that nature gives us, and replacing it with smoke, oil, and the stench of our ever
growing need to expand. Our need, humanity's need to leave no blade of grass behind, to cover
every inch of the earth with pollution and man made roads and structures, is what is destroying the
beauty that nature provides. So maybe it's time ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I had stayed up past my bedtime, as usual, and been awake to hear the sound. Or rather, the lack of
sound. There wasn't a large explosion of smoke and flames, there was no loud, booming sound. The
world didn't end with the rise of a lethal virus that killed off all of humanity or turned them into
zombies. The world ended in silence. Silence that replaced the usual sounds of cars racing on the
nearby streets and airplanes flying overhead. There was just silence and darkness. The world outside
my window seemed frozen and immovable, like everything had been put on hold. A soft, warm
breeze brought the smell of rain and wet dirt through my open window. The wind carried summer
and spring and winter and fall with it, filling my lungs with the purest air I'd ever breathed. The
wind carried no pollution, no smoke, only pure, clean air, untainted by human influence. The breeze
seemed to come up from the depths of the earth. Everything was silent, and beautiful. I imagined
rolling fields of grass that went on for miles, and when I opened my eyes, I looked down at the
black, oily concrete and saw grass, pushing its way through faster than I ever thought possible. The
concrete shattered and crumbled to dust as the grass overcame the cement streets and sidewalks. In a
matter of minutes, all of the streets were gone, replaced by vibrant green grass that looked soft to the

Descriptive Essay On New Mexico
The suns rays, blazing down onto the sand of New Mexico. Mirages appearing appearing on the
horizon in such fine detail, you could reach and grab onto them. The sand slowly blowing across the
harsh landscape, the bushes swaying slightly, trees were sparse, and life was all buried away. The
gigantic mountains covered the backdrop of the landscape, they seemed to be reaching straight for
the sky. A small group of 11; slowly is making their way across this treacherous landscape.
Backpacks loaded up with enough food for a week, seven liters of water, tents, cooking device were
just the tip of the icebergs. Thirty four pounds might not seem that heavy, but to carry that for over a
hundred miles through the cruel sun, wet marshes, and rocky cliffs could quite possibly break a
man. As the 80°F 98% humidity weather starts to pull you down, this group made sure to keep the
backpacks on their backs, and their eyes upon the mountains they were going to tackle. Some would

Just me, my backpack, some of my best friends, and 12 days worth of food would head out into that
savage desert to tackle one of the most perilous adventures of my life. I would end up cracking
under the pressure of the trek, falling along the way. I would end up nearly passing out from the lack
of oxygen at the top of the 11,000ft high peak that I had just climbed too. Nevertheless, I would be
raised up by my friends and continue to trek mile after mile to get to camp and eat some of the most
delicious chicken and rice you could ever imagine. I would also have to yank my fellow comrades to
rejoin everyone else on the trail. Whether someone needed water of it was simply saying "You're
doing great! Let's Keep Going.", I would try my best to keep the group on a positive foundation
even in the midst of the most irksome

Creative Writing Green Field
The grass was more vibrant than usual. Each individual blade was cut to perfection, none stood out.
The white stripes seemed to glow against the fresh, green grass. The black asphalt still felt tepid
beneath our feet. The unpigmented lines almost vibrated with the daytime heat that was beating
down only an hour before. The shining benches were drenched in all colors of the rainbow. The
bodies underneath that rainbow where continuously shifting and swelling like the sea. The
anticipation could be seen rolling away from those benches as everyone seemed to take a breath.
The lights above casted down a blinding white that left shadows fifty feet long. The brightness only
seemed to be turned up as we took our first step onto the grass.
The field ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
That green field now looks brown. The perfectly cut grass is demolished and clumps of mud are
visible. The lines are torn to shreds; not a single one remains straight. A lone hat remains on a pile of
mud as the owner rushes back for the fallen one. The once beautiful field, appears as if a war swept
through. Nothing remained. The asphalt beneath our feet is frozen even though the unforgiving
surface was burning ten minutes before. The lights above have lost their blinding quality and are
quickly dulling. The faces to my left and right are grimly looking about. Sweat pours down the faces
closest to me. Hats are removed as cheers rise up among the group. Clicks sound across the asphalt
as cases are opened. Instruments are taken apart and laid inside.
A flash of light makes me glance towards the audience. My parents stand in the middle waving at
me down below with their camera out. One last picture. The rainbow of colors has dulled. Instead of
bright colors, the only colors remaining are white, grey, and black. The original insult of sounds is
just a mouse squeaking. I blink in surprise as the perfect night reveals itself to be a lie. Our last time
performing on this field is no different than the time before. Silence falls around me as everyone
else realizes this as well. Tonight was our last night together, but it was not

Analysis Of Sunsets And Sunsets
In the poems, "She sweeps with many Colored Brooms", by Emily Dickenson, and "Sunsets", by
Carl Sandburg; the authors compare sunset to women. The beauty of sunset is the central in both
poems however, they each contain different ideas about sunset. For example, Dickenson, focuses
more on the beauty of sunset while, Sandburg, compares a sunset to a woman's demeanor, and
brings out the different kinds of ways the sun sets. In the poem, by Emily Dickenson she compares
sunset to a housewife. The poem cites "She sweeps with many–colored brooms" [line 1–2], the
quote is portraying the true beauty of a housewife's chores. It is also indirectly referring to the rays
of a sunset. A diligent woman sews her own beautiful garments. She uses all different colors and
types of thread to sew each of her garments. The colorfulness of the thread can compare to a
magnificent sunset. The poem quotes, "And now you've littered all the East, with duds of emerald!"
[line 7–8]. Literarily, this is referring to the threads and clothes that litter a woman's home.
However, Dickenson is referring to the sun setting east, and shining its' glow onto the world. The
author, uses emerald to portray this beautiful scene since, emerald is a considered a beautiful stone.
In the poem "Sunsets", by Carl Sandburg, he compares a woman's demeanor to sunset. A woman
naturally carries a major role in life, and is also considered a symbol of beauty and elegance. The
poem states "Ribbon at the ears, sashes at

A Story Of Liesel Meminger
Another perspective
The story of Liesel Meminger was told to you by Death. But how about another perspective; a
perspective that provides more hope. No, we're not going to be hopeful, we are going to be
sanguine. Just like Liesel was.
*A quick definition*
Sanguine: optimistic or positive, especially in an apparently bad or difficult situation
But first, shall I introduce myself. As you might have noticed, Death and I share similar writing
styles, meaning we might be related. We are. I am life. Don't get me confused with your lifetime. I
am not your whole "lifetime". I am simply the one that carries one soul into the world. While, Death
on the other hand, carries the soul out the world. We are siblings, actually twins. But we are as ...

Everything was white, right? That's what you thought and my brother thought. The sky was blank, it
was empty, everything was just colourless. White is too pure and hopeful to describe the atmosphere

It is not often that you get to wake up to a perfectly painted peach, pink and purple coated sky,

Walden Pond Analysis
Today I awoke at the early hours of dawn. Upon stepping out of my tent, I was taken back at the
beautiful scenery that lies at my very own feet. The nature of Walden Pond is a blessing to one's eye.
The landscape surrounding me is full of massive trees and innocent wildlife. The smell of the fresh
morning air is soothing to one's soul. As I walk from my tent to the edge of the pond, I can feel the
morning dew beneath my feet and see drops of it tricking down the plants around me. Standing by
the pond, I can see the sun rising, its rays reflecting off the water making it sparkle. I enjoy relaxing

I would say it was probably around thirteen to fourteen inches long. Once the fish was reeled in, I
scooped up some water in my pot and headed back towards the tent. After setting everything down, I
arranged a spot to build a fire. I placed the logs and sticks within a circle of rocks; then I used my
flint to strike and start a fire. One of my main concerns of living in the wild is having purified water.
I placed the pot of water over the fire. And while I waited for it to boil, I used my knife to fillet the
fish. After the water starts to boil, I always pour some into my cup and then begin cooking my meal
that way I do not have to make two trips to the water and so that it gives it time to cool. Shortly after
eating, I begin my daily tasks. Although I have a tent, it will not last forever and there is no telling
how long it could endure the weather and provide me the accurate shelter, so I have been gradually
building myself a cabin each day. I go into the woods and use my machete to chop down trees sturdy
enough to withstand its use. Once I chopped enough for the day, I hauled them back to the site to

Analysis Of The Sun By Emily Dickinson
Remember viewing the world through of the lens of adolescence? That all–encompassing innocence
which drives headfirst into all of life's experiences with passionate optimism. Emily Dickinson
definitely remembered that youthful spirit, as it's something she carried with her long into her adult
years; not only in her personal life, but in her poetry as well. Even though the standards of verse
were quite set in stone at the time, Dickinson followed in the footsteps of Isaac Watts and wrote
what she wanted, how she wanted. It's this unique sense of free verse that is acutely visible within
her poem "The Sun", and that's not the only childish attribute to be found within it. In the same way,
it's structure contains a youthful sense of freedom from regulations, the poems content is centered
around the view of the sun and nature in general, from the perspective of a young child. Powerfully
using this ingenious idea, Dickinson adeptly manages to spread the childlike infectious admiration
of the sun, while maintaining a stunning imagery that immerses the reader in the experience of
viewing the sky in all it's magnificence.
Once the poem begins, Dickinson immediately displays the excited, inquisitive nature fitting for the
speaker of the whole poem: an observant child. Bursting with energy, and assuming everyone shares
in this sentiment, the child begins the first stanza with the statement, "I'll tell you how the sun rose"
as if the reader is not only equally excited about the sun rising, but also is asking for details about
the topic. Of course, this is rudimentary, youthful naivety, but Dickinson masterfully wields that
strong tone, to encourage the reader to enter the poem with eager anticipation, as if they really did
ask how the sun rises. Upon describing the sun's appearance in the sky, the speaker quickly
compares it to "A ribbon" which is precisely the kind of simple vanity that would fill the child's day
to day life, hence it being the first thing they think to compare it too. After, the stanza then continues
to describe how the sun's rays are present over everything as it spreads rapidly throughout the
morning sky. Again, continuing this concept of a child being the one looking at the sun, Dickinson

Marine View With A Sunset
The painting "marine view with a sunset", also known as "Argenteuil basin at sunset" , was created
by Claude Monet in 1875, when he lived in Argenteuil, France. During that period, Monet
experimented new painting concepts and techniques. In order to create dynamic natural landscapes,
he tried to concern more about compositional elements, such as position of forms and focal point.
And this painting provides a special color combination. Monet depicted a warm sunset over the river
surrounding by clouds, in which the spreading orange sunset, cloudy blue sky and dark green bush
blended together. This painting gives a strong settled background with pleasure boating scene.
In 1870s, when Monet at his middle age, he was an indefatigable traveler ... Show more content on

He gave us a strike contrast, of subject, of scale, of hue and of course of facture. When the viewer
look at the upper part of this image, they will be attracted by a marvelous warm sunset and shocked
by how Monet depicted the fleet sunset, the moment that the sun went down to the skyline. It is
undeniable that the whole scene is a harmony of natural color. The viewers could roughly see the
transition of warm color, in which the purple light at the very edge slowly change to light orange in
the central point. All the movements of the color are captured by Monet in a short period of time,
which is the goal of impressionist. Meanwhile, people could even see several details that dark–color
strokes jump over the light–color strokes, in which illustrates the different thickness of clouds in the
sky. In the Monet's Impression sunrise, everything look serine and he didn't spend much time on
shape the clouds. He used long thick stroke with mixing color to fill the sky to create a foggy
morning, in which people can barely identify the depth of the sky. However, in the "marine view
with sunset", which was drawn at a clear nightfall, the clouds are pretty dynamic. There are different
length and thickness of brush strokes on this painting. At the top left of the sky, the overlapping
purple strokes are intensive, which shows how the sunlight shoots through the cloud and reflects on
the sky. And these curving grey strokes around the warm color looks like the shadow of

The Meaning Of Modernism And Post-Impressionism In Western...

Summary Of Early Morning Rocky Mountains

A Formal Analysis of J.EH MacDonald's Early Morning, Rocky Mountains
J.E.H MacDonald created his painting Early Morning, Rocky Mountains using oil paint on canvas.
As suggested through the title, the subject of the painting is the rocky mountains with the early
morning sun rising above them. This painting was donated to and is currently being displayed at the
Art Gallery of Ontario in Toronto, Ontario. It is not a very large painting at 76.2 x 89.2 cm; just
short of being 1 x 1 m which, in comparison to other paintings in the gallery, is considerably
smaller. It's size, however, makes it easy to view in its entirety regardless of where you stand to it.

image is still able to present the scene in complete clarity. As far as these lines helping to balance the

The Light Monologue
Yin and Yang I look at my camera. I notice warm hues first. These hues are in the bright copper
trestles that fall upon either side of my shoulders and my rosy cheeks and lips that give my face life.
The light from beyond the windows close by cascade and resonate throughout the kitchen and into
the alcove I reside in. The dazzling lights that dance down from the chandelier that hangs over my
head gives just enough light to soften the wood frame of the glass panes that sit just out of reach.
However, as I write this, the sun is quickly retreating behind the trees that once carried beautiful
leaves. Soon again, as will the sun's beaming rays. Now, in the reflection of the window, I see the six
lights that give the alcove its personality and illuminate the room with sheer brilliance. Without the
brilliance of these bulbs, much detail would go unnoticed– detail that I consider crucial. These

Personal Narrative Essay: My Journey In The Colorado Road
The blazing sun was just breaking over the horizon on this particular July day between my freshman
and sophomore year. It bathed me in golden rays that warmed my skin. Despite this, a chill dripped
down my spine, and my heart jittered about in my chest as my mom drove me toward the unknown
and uncertain future. I was about to embark on a treacherous journey: a backpacking trip through the
Colorado mountains. The car hurdled over the wandering asphalt until I arrived in a parking lot
where an ominous white van waited to carry me toward my destiny. After playing a game of Tetris
to cram my provisions into the back of the overflowing vehicle, I met some of my travelling
partners. My palms were slick with perspiration as each introduced him or herself. Everyone seemed
friendly enough; some of the tension within my back was released. Besides, there were problems of

Describe a place or environment where you are perfectly content. What do you do or experience

The thundering sound of hooves echoes in my ears as my horse comes barreling down the hill
toward me. My whistle had caused him to go crashing through the tall grass and Queen Ann's Lace
in search of me once again. Coming to a sliding stop in front of me, I gently stroke his muzzle.
Letting my hands glide over his fuzzy neck and into his jet black mane, I grab ahold and throw
myself onto his strong back. We go running through the pasture, scattering wild rabbits and sending
sparrows a flight. I watch them fly overhead, their brown wings leading them to rest in the big oak

The Sun By Emily Dickinson Literary Devices
Remember viewing the world through of the lens of adolenscence? That all–encompassing
innocence that drove headfirst into all of lifes experiences with passionate optimism. Emily
DIckinson definitely remembered that youthful spirit, as it's something she carried with her long into
her adult years; not only in her personal life, but in her poetry as well. Despite the standards of verse
being quite set in stone at the time of its publication, Dickinsn followed in the footsteps of ?? and
wrote what she wanted, how she wanted. This unique sense of free verse is applied in her poem
"The Sun", and that's not the only bold quality of the poem. In the same way it's structure contains a
ingenuous sense of freedom from regulations, the poems content is centered around the view of the
sun and narure in general, from the perspective of a young child. Powerfully using this expanded
metaphor, Dickinson adeptly manages to spread the childlike infectous admiration of the sun, while
boasting a stuning imagery that immerses the reader in the experience of viewing the morning sky.
From the first line of the poem, Dickinson displays the feverish, inquisitive nature fitting for the
speaker of the whole poem: an observant child. Bursting with energy, and assuming everyone shares

From the first line of the poem, Dickinson displays the excited inquisitive nature fitting for the
speaker of the whole poem: an observant child. Bursting with energy, and assuming everyone shares
in this sentiment, the speaker begins the first stanza with the statement, "I'll tell you how the sun
rose" as if the reader is not only equally excited about the sun rising, but also is asking for details
about the topic. Of course, this is simple youthful naivety, but Dickinson masterfully uses the strong
tone, to encourage the reader to enter the poem with excited anticipation, as if they really did ask
how the sun rises. Upon describing the suns appearance in the sky, the speaker quickly compares it
to "A ribbon" which is the kind of simple vanity that would fill the childs day to day life, hence it
being the first thing they think to compare it too. The stanza then continues to describe how the suns
rays are present over everything as it spreads rapidly throughout the morning sky.
Moving into the second stanza, the speaker begins to pick up steam, expressing profound admiration

The Hero's Journey-Original Writing
It was the middle of the day when the man had left his group to travel on his own. It was abnormally
windy for the desert, but that fact did not worry the him. The Sahara was an unpredictable place. It
could be gusty one second, and completely still the next. Looking back at the way he had come, he
saw only barren desert, with a few rocks here and there. The same was ahead of him: miles and
miles of sand. This did not scare the man, and that was the problem with him. He was without
imagination. He knew of the facts, but not their meanings. The man had been traveling for quite
some time now. He stopped to check his watch, and saw that he had been walking for almost two
hours now. Deciding he could use a break, he dropped his sack and sat down. The man felt ... Show

could have escaped much quicker. Albeit a little flustered, the man continued his journey instead of
going back to his group. After all, if anyone could survive in the desert alone it would be him. The
man thinks about the fame he would receive if he completed the journey across the Sahara. Not only
would he be the first person to ever cross all 2,983 miles, but he would have done it alone. He
thought of all the newspapers he would be in, and all the interviews he would give. The thoughts of
becoming famous and of boasting to his old group members were what pushed him to keep
traveling, even when immense tiredness threatened to overtake him. He needed to cover as much

Sun Observation Grid Report
Purpose
This study recorded the position of the Sun over the course of a day, on three different occasions
each one month apart. Then compare how the daily motion of the Sun changes throughout the
course of a year. To measure the course of the Sun a roofing nail is placed on a paper and the end of
the shadow is recoded over the length of the day. Starting the recording at approximately 10am and
ending around 6pm. Methodology The site choosing was a lot near my apartment. It was chosen
because it had a lot of open area, flat land, and there were not a lot of trees or people around to
obstruct the view of the sky. The open area made it easier to find a flat area to lay my paper on. The
flat land helped so that there would be fewer variations ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is represents the shortening of the daylight and the early setting of the Sun as it gets closer to
winter.
1. How do the tracks observed for the three different days compare?
a. They all have a similar pattern, but the length of the observations between hours gets shorter
through the months.
2. From what you know about the path of the Sun across the sky, can you explain the differences
between the paths of the Sun on the horizontal sundial for the three observations?
a. When the Sun is directly above the nail it makes a smaller shadow. When the Sun is low in the
sky shadows become longer. Since winter is coming the shadows recorded become farther away
from the nail and shorter in length from hour to hour because of the loss of daylight and the time its
recorded.
3. How would changing of the location where the observations are made (for example Caracas,
Venezuela) affect the path of the Sun on the horizontal plane Sundial?
a. Caracas, Venezuela is near the equator. The daylight time does not change near the equator. All
year round the amount of daylight, and night time are the same. This would make every observation
nearly the same instead of mine which are different from each

Emily Dickinson's 'ILl Tell You How The Sun Rose'
In a body, nerves run underneath the layers of skin and grant a body the ability to feel. Without skin,
the slightest touch would cause a piercing pain, no matter what surface a person touched. If a body
had more layers of skin, it would be harder to feel the details of the surfaces, and everything would
lose its meaning. By missing a layer of skin, this enhances a person's ability to feel his or her
surroundings, which makes a person more sensitive to their surroundings. Emily Dickinson's
sensitivity, once compared to "missing a layer of skin," is reflected in her poetry.
Emily Dickinson expresses her sensitivity by writing details that most people would not notice.
Emily Dickinson shows her sensitivity in her poem, "I'll Tell You How the Sun Rose." She writes
"I'll tell you how the sun rose,– / a ribbon at a time. / The steeples swam in amethyst /... The hill
untied their bonnets" ("I'll Tell You How the Sun Rose" lines 1,2,3,5). An insensitive person might
describe the sunrise as a "transition from a dark night into bright day." Emily Dickinson, on the
other hand, describes the sunrise by the way the colors come across the sky. An example of this is
the second line, "a ribbon at a time" ("I'll Tell You How the Sun Rose" line 2). This line illustrates
how the sun slowly unravels colors into the sky, extending the process so it can be enjoyed longer.
Also, when Emily Dickinson writes "The steeples swam in amethyst," she paints a picture for the
reader to depict a church's

The Wonderlands By John Foreman Analysis
Jon Foreman's haunting melodies are sung throughout the world as the lead singer and songwriter of
Switchfoot, but the San Diego native knows how to do more than just deliver an exceptional rock
tune. Sunlight is the first EP in his series of four to be released this year, under the title The
Wonderlands. Detailing the transition between 24 hours in a day, the first in the series painting the
colors of the dawn breaking, birds chirping, and drops of dew on the grass.
Opening with "Terminal," you will be struck by how carefully each layer of this song is crafted. The
acoustic guitar is balanced with the light touch of the keys, and the unassuming sound of percussion
keeps the melody moving forward before Foreman's vocals are added. The poetry within the lyrics is
rich in themes of life and death, and we see the singer wrestle with the concept of humanity as
"living souls with terminal hearts."

Predominantly created using the picking of the guitar, Foreman's vocals carry a weight that seems to
chronicle the beauty and depravity of the human existence. As they speak of longing and he says,
"Oh I've been waiting for love to give birth, for new life to show pain it's worth. Oh I've been
waiting for peace on earth, like a newborn child," this track stands in stark contrast to the previous
song which was an ode about hypocrisy in the church. Instead, "All of God's Children" uses simple
instrumentation to emphasize that truth and love are truly shown in the most unknown and un–
flashy circumstances. It recounts the promises of the Bible, and discusses a unity within the church
that is the polar opposite to the absurdity of "The Patron Saint of Rock and

"It's here!!" Vernon shot up in bed and was expecting something to come creeping out of the
shadows. The city always seemed to push the stars farther away from the world in the dead of night.
Rain had begun to sprinkle downtown and it began to trickle across the top of the parked cars in the

falling on a tin roof, still thinking about the dreams his been having. The Coffee Cup was like any

"Ok...ok, so let me think. The dreams started eight days ago, and I've been coming to this diner for

from Vernon pressing his pen down too hard. "On Sunday I slept for three hours, Monday I did the
same, and on Tuesday it seemed like I never closed my eyes." Across the street, a liquor store clerk
was pulling down an aluminum shutter tagged with names and abbreviations. The next block over,
the lights on a street cleaner lit–up the alley in front of the diner for a moment as it drove by
sweeping the gutters. His mind had stopped when she had swung around from behind him, sliding
herself into the booth and throwing her bag onto the table. "Counting the days till Christmas," asked
Gabby. She had crushed her cigarette butt out in the ashtray at the end of the counter, but the smoke
still seemed to follow her across the diner. "You can say that," replied Vernon, who looked sideways
at a couple of empty prescription bottles that were sticking out of the top of her purse, then back at
her eyes which were beginning to turn black. "Don't worry, it's nothing that won't kill me." She had
reached under the table and lifted herself up, pulling off the stockings that she was wearing. Vernon

Gray. The muted color was the only feature the boy could see; surrounding him in an aura of

But his focus was no longer on the sunset; rather, it was on two faint shapes beginning to form in the
sky as they came closer to the town. It soon became apparent that they were small airplanes. The
people in the planes were lying almost flat; held in place by a sturdy leather sling. The frame was
not very large, and was just thick enough to be able to hold the sling safely. Two long wings spread
out horizontally from each side of the frame, one pair adjacent to the top part and the other set

Summary Of The Thoreau Experiment
The Thoreau Experiment; Applying Thoreau's Ideas to a Modern World, was designed to show
students what reliance of technology combined with near rejection of observations to the world
around them and their inner world results in an imbalance much in the way Thoreau shared in the
1800's. The whole point of this experiment was said to help students acknowledge that the "old
ways" of spending time in nature or with themselves is crucial to their lives and well–being. The
experiment contains eight different things you can choose from and the initial goal is "to live life
more simply, to get in touch with what truly important." This essay will be covered over my
experience with waking up with the dawn. I will be supporting and explaining how to related to
Theories statement, "Rise free from care before the dawn, and seek adventures." Seeking adventures
and rising free from care before the dawn helped me decide that I wanted to try this experiment out.
I chose this to see what it was really like to experience the sunrise. I have watched it before with a
group of friends but experiencing it alone was very different. I thought this was neat, because you
had no idea what was in store for each morning. I sat in my tree stand for this for three different
days; Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. The sun rose at three different times as well,
aproxamlentialy a minute difference each day. All three days I was in the tree stand by seven forty

One can agree that during the day, the beach can be a noisy place: music, kids, and talkative

Bahamas it is quite loud due to the numerous tourists in the area who want to party and have a good
time, but at dusk, it stops. Little by little the beach gets less populated with clamorous people and
feels more like your own oasis. You begin to hone in on the sounds: the rave music is now more
calming; it is maybe playing reggae or something else soothing. The seagulls seem to chirp less, and
you are suddenly all alone. As you walk down the beach waiting for the sun to set you feel the
softness of the sand, and look back to see how your feet have been molded to become one with the
beach. When the sun sets and the sky radiates comforting colors, you begin to feel different: the
beach resonates the warmth of the sky through your feet, up into your heart. You look around and
see the landscape of the beach has been made lively by the colors of the sky. The rocks blush from
the sky's red tint, and the palm trees look to be slow dancing in the warming breeze. Your body is

CHAPTER1: THE STORM.
The fresh air flushed into my lungs, as I took a deep breath of the soothing, calm air...
The mountains towered over us threateningly. The only reason I joined the research group was to
escape normal life. The same everyday routines were torture to me. The grass around me fluttered
gently, creating this enchanting illusion of a grassy, green wave of greatness. The sky was filled with

We gathered up all the remaining things we could scavenge: some of our daypacks, shredded tarp

Sunrise Is A City Of Sunrise
Sunrise, Florida is a delightful city with a comical beginning. In 1961, developer Norman Johnson
constructed an upside–down house to attract homebuyers to the then rural area. It worked, bringing
in thousands, and earning him a Life Magazine spread. His 2,650–acre golf course community
became the City of Sunrise in 1971. Today, Sunrise is a lot more than an architectural oddity. It 's
home to premier shopping and entertainment venues and the BB&T Center, where the Florida
Panthers play.
Best Time to Visit Sunrise, FL
Sunrise enjoys a tropical climate. While there isn 't an off–time for visiting Florida, there are some
times of the year that are less expensive and slightly less crowded than others. On the Atlantic side
of Florida, you 'll see the deepest discounts during hurricane season, which runs from June first
through November 30th.
The summer is steamy with temps averaging in the low 90s. Humidity is often between 80 and 90
percent, and localized showers in the late afternoons are fairly common in June and July. But the
storms quickly pass and the sun returns. While temps don 't begin to drop out of the 90s until
October, a visit in September can be ideal. Students are back in school and the snow birds have not
yet descended on Florida. The crowds are minimal, the pools and ocean are warm, and hotels offer
discounts to attract visitors.

Triptych, A Short Story Essay: The Vietnam War
Triptych He surveys the vast fields of dull brown corn plants. The skin of his hands is as aged and
dry as the denim that he wears. The porch and his hat are fighting a losing battle against the sun that
still blinds him. Sweat drips down his brow as he sits in his chair, taking in the scenery. The
scorched, cracked earth which cannot support the dying corn plants. Almost everything is dead.
Everything else is dying. High above him the sky is almost clear, with one pure white cloud which
only serves to taunt him. The 1973 Ford F–150 stands guard over the field. The old truck has not
moved in weeks. The man does not need to go in to town anymore. What could he sell? What could
he buy? All of the money he had saved was spent on food for the year. Weeks and ... Show more

The stillness and quiet of the air terrifies this man, though his face stays still. The last breeze blew
away long ago. The birds followed. They knew that food was elsewhere, and they charged toward
their bounty. But through this, the man stayed. And at this very moment, he could not remember
why. Far in the distance, rain is falling. The water crashes into the window like enemy soldiers at the
gates. Inside the station, tears are streaming down her face. Her clothes are soaked in blood, mud,
and water. She can feel the water holding her down while the blood takes away any sense of safety.
The detective sits quietly across from her. He has not said anything for the past thirty minutes. He
has nothing to say, and on the rare occasion that a question comes to his mind, it is answered by
either weeping of silence. The blood, mud, and water are drying on her blouse. With every lightning
strike, she hears the piercing crack of the slugs breaking through the sound barrier and into her
husband's stomach. She feels a pain shoot through her chest. She sobs harder. She cannot bring
herself to say anything more. The blood has seeped through her shirt and clings to her, like he used
to. His final

Personal Narrative: A Warm Day In Arizona
It was a warm summer day in Arizona when me and Robert my friend went hiking to the Grand
Canyon because it was a special place to relax and forget about things. I was all ready prepared to
go on a hike with Robert I packed my things last night and made sure to not forget anything from
my packing list. The sun was starting to come up so I got in my car and went to go pick up Robert
before it started getting hot. Once we got to the Grand Canyon the parking lot was so empty like a
can of soda.
The temperature felt warm with a little of breeze when we started hiking. It felt so nice just to enjoy
the beautiful nature and letting out everything. While the temperature get warmer I started to get
dehydrated, so I took out my water and took a long

Turban Monologue

  • 1. Turban Monologue Prologue: Vibrant hues of orange and yellow were smeared together and they played with violent shades of red. The rising sun rested in a bed of golden rose, cotton clouds. Its rays of light spilling over the hills like pale orange paint. At least, that's what I imagined this sunrise would look like in a world without skyscrapers and other assorted buildings suffocating the horizon, sucking the life out of the beauty that nature gives us, and replacing it with smoke, oil, and the stench of our ever growing need to expand. Our need, humanity's need to leave no blade of grass behind, to cover every inch of the earth with pollution and man made roads and structures, is what is destroying the beauty that nature provides. So maybe it's time ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I had stayed up past my bedtime, as usual, and been awake to hear the sound. Or rather, the lack of sound. There wasn't a large explosion of smoke and flames, there was no loud, booming sound. The world didn't end with the rise of a lethal virus that killed off all of humanity or turned them into zombies. The world ended in silence. Silence that replaced the usual sounds of cars racing on the nearby streets and airplanes flying overhead. There was just silence and darkness. The world outside my window seemed frozen and immovable, like everything had been put on hold. A soft, warm breeze brought the smell of rain and wet dirt through my open window. The wind carried summer and spring and winter and fall with it, filling my lungs with the purest air I'd ever breathed. The wind carried no pollution, no smoke, only pure, clean air, untainted by human influence. The breeze seemed to come up from the depths of the earth. Everything was silent, and beautiful. I imagined rolling fields of grass that went on for miles, and when I opened my eyes, I looked down at the black, oily concrete and saw grass, pushing its way through faster than I ever thought possible. The concrete shattered and crumbled to dust as the grass overcame the cement streets and sidewalks. In a matter of minutes, all of the streets were gone, replaced by vibrant green grass that looked soft to the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The sand slowly blowing across the harsh landscape, the bushes swaying slightly, trees were sparse, and life was all buried away. The gigantic mountains covered the backdrop of the landscape, they seemed to be reaching straight for the sky. A small group of 11; slowly is making their way across this treacherous landscape. Backpacks loaded up with enough food for a week, seven liters of water, tents, cooking device were just the tip of the icebergs. Thirty four pounds might not seem that heavy, but to carry that for over a hundred miles through the cruel sun, wet marshes, and rocky cliffs could quite possibly break a man. As the 80°F 98% humidity weather starts to pull you down, this group made sure to keep the backpacks on their backs, and their eyes upon the mountains they were going to tackle. Some would fall to the lack of oxygen in the cliffs, others would fall to simply the pain of having so much weight on their back for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Just me, my backpack, some of my best friends, and 12 days worth of food would head out into that savage desert to tackle one of the most perilous adventures of my life. I would end up cracking under the pressure of the trek, falling along the way. I would end up nearly passing out from the lack of oxygen at the top of the 11,000ft high peak that I had just climbed too. Nevertheless, I would be raised up by my friends and continue to trek mile after mile to get to camp and eat some of the most delicious chicken and rice you could ever imagine. I would also have to yank my fellow comrades to rejoin everyone else on the trail. Whether someone needed water of it was simply saying "You're doing great! • 9. Creative Writing Green Field The grass was more vibrant than usual. Each individual blade was cut to perfection, none stood out. The white stripes seemed to glow against the fresh, green grass. The black asphalt still felt tepid beneath our feet. The unpigmented lines almost vibrated with the daytime heat that was beating down only an hour before. The shining benches were drenched in all colors of the rainbow. The bodies underneath that rainbow where continuously shifting and swelling like the sea. The anticipation could be seen rolling away from those benches as everyone seemed to take a breath. The lights above casted down a blinding white that left shadows fifty feet long. The brightness only seemed to be turned up as we took our first step onto the grass. The field ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... That green field now looks brown. The perfectly cut grass is demolished and clumps of mud are visible. The lines are torn to shreds; not a single one remains straight. A lone hat remains on a pile of mud as the owner rushes back for the fallen one. The once beautiful field, appears as if a war swept through. Nothing remained. The asphalt beneath our feet is frozen even though the unforgiving surface was burning ten minutes before. The lights above have lost their blinding quality and are quickly dulling. The faces to my left and right are grimly looking about. Sweat pours down the faces closest to me. Hats are removed as cheers rise up among the group. Clicks sound across the asphalt as cases are opened. Instruments are taken apart and laid inside. A flash of light makes me glance towards the audience. My parents stand in the middle waving at me down below with their camera out. One last picture. The rainbow of colors has dulled. Instead of bright colors, the only colors remaining are white, grey, and black. The original insult of sounds is just a mouse squeaking. I blink in surprise as the perfect night reveals itself to be a lie. Our last time performing on this field is no different than the time before. Silence falls around me as everyone else realizes this as well. Tonight was our last night together, but it was not ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 13. Analysis Of Sunsets And Sunsets In the poems, "She sweeps with many Colored Brooms", by Emily Dickenson, and "Sunsets", by Carl Sandburg; the authors compare sunset to women. The beauty of sunset is the central in both poems however, they each contain different ideas about sunset. For example, Dickenson, focuses more on the beauty of sunset while, Sandburg, compares a sunset to a woman's demeanor, and brings out the different kinds of ways the sun sets. In the poem, by Emily Dickenson she compares sunset to a housewife. The poem cites "She sweeps with many–colored brooms" [line 1–2], the quote is portraying the true beauty of a housewife's chores. It is also indirectly referring to the rays of a sunset. A diligent woman sews her own beautiful garments. She uses all different colors and types of thread to sew each of her garments. The colorfulness of the thread can compare to a magnificent sunset. The poem quotes, "And now you've littered all the East, with duds of emerald!" [line 7–8]. Literarily, this is referring to the threads and clothes that litter a woman's home. However, Dickenson is referring to the sun setting east, and shining its' glow onto the world. The author, uses emerald to portray this beautiful scene since, emerald is a considered a beautiful stone. In the poem "Sunsets", by Carl Sandburg, he compares a woman's demeanor to sunset. A woman naturally carries a major role in life, and is also considered a symbol of beauty and elegance. The poem states "Ribbon at the ears, sashes at ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

No, we're not going to be hopeful, we are going to be sanguine. Just like Liesel was. *A quick definition* Sanguine: optimistic or positive, especially in an apparently bad or difficult situation But first, shall I introduce myself. As you might have noticed, Death and I share similar writing styles, meaning we might be related. We are. I am life. Don't get me confused with your lifetime. I am not your whole "lifetime". Listening to her first heartbeats, I knew she was someone special. She knew that she deserved to be in this world, and she would make the best life she can out of what she had, but she never believed that she was more worthy of this world than others. Years would pass on and Liesel's father would be taken away and her mother would take her and her brother onto the train. When Werner died on that train, the colour of the sky was. The colour of the snow was white. Everything was white, right? That's what you thought and my brother thought. The sky was blank, it was empty, everything was just colourless. White is too pure and hopeful to describe the atmosphere that Liesel was in, when her brother died. Even her heartbeat was irregularly rapid. Each beat going at a different rhythm and tempo. It was like her heart didn't know what to do and was so confused, it couldn 't beat properly. *Liesel 's heart * Does that make you think that her heart gave up? That she gave up? • 33. Analysis Of The Sun By Emily Dickinson Remember viewing the world through of the lens of adolescence? That all–encompassing innocence which drives headfirst into all of life's experiences with passionate optimism. Emily Dickinson definitely remembered that youthful spirit, as it's something she carried with her long into her adult years; not only in her personal life, but in her poetry as well. Even though the standards of verse were quite set in stone at the time, Dickinson followed in the footsteps of Isaac Watts and wrote what she wanted, how she wanted. It's this unique sense of free verse that is acutely visible within her poem "The Sun", and that's not the only childish attribute to be found within it. In the same way, it's structure contains a youthful sense of freedom from regulations, the poems content is centered around the view of the sun and nature in general, from the perspective of a young child. Powerfully using this ingenious idea, Dickinson adeptly manages to spread the childlike infectious admiration of the sun, while maintaining a stunning imagery that immerses the reader in the experience of viewing the sky in all it's magnificence. Once the poem begins, Dickinson immediately displays the excited, inquisitive nature fitting for the speaker of the whole poem: an observant child. Bursting with energy, and assuming everyone shares in this sentiment, the child begins the first stanza with the statement, "I'll tell you how the sun rose" as if the reader is not only equally excited about the sun rising, but also is asking for details about the topic. Of course, this is rudimentary, youthful naivety, but Dickinson masterfully wields that strong tone, to encourage the reader to enter the poem with eager anticipation, as if they really did ask how the sun rises. Upon describing the sun's appearance in the sky, the speaker quickly compares it to "A ribbon" which is precisely the kind of simple vanity that would fill the child's day to day life, hence it being the first thing they think to compare it too. After, the stanza then continues to describe how the sun's rays are present over everything as it spreads rapidly throughout the morning sky. Again, continuing this concept of a child being the one looking at the sun, Dickinson ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

During that period, Monet experimented new painting concepts and techniques. In order to create dynamic natural landscapes, he tried to concern more about compositional elements, such as position of forms and focal point. And this painting provides a special color combination. Monet depicted a warm sunset over the river surrounding by clouds, in which the spreading orange sunset, cloudy blue sky and dark green bush blended together. This painting gives a strong settled background with pleasure boating scene. In 1870s, when Monet at his middle age, he was an indefatigable traveler ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When the viewer look at the upper part of this image, they will be attracted by a marvelous warm sunset and shocked by how Monet depicted the fleet sunset, the moment that the sun went down to the skyline. It is undeniable that the whole scene is a harmony of natural color. The viewers could roughly see the transition of warm color, in which the purple light at the very edge slowly change to light orange in the central point. All the movements of the color are captured by Monet in a short period of time, which is the goal of impressionist. Meanwhile, people could even see several details that dark–color strokes jump over the light–color strokes, in which illustrates the different thickness of clouds in the sky. In the Monet's Impression sunrise, everything look serine and he didn't spend much time on shape the clouds. He used long thick stroke with mixing color to fill the sky to create a foggy morning, in which people can barely identify the depth of the sky. However, in the "marine view with sunset", which was drawn at a clear nightfall, the clouds are pretty dynamic. There are different length and thickness of brush strokes on this painting. At the top left of the sky, the overlapping purple strokes are intensive, which shows how the sunlight shoots through the cloud and reflects on the sky. Without skin, the slightest touch would cause a piercing pain, no matter what surface a person touched. By missing a layer of skin, this enhances a person's ability to feel his or her surroundings, which makes a person more sensitive to their surroundings. Emily Dickinson's sensitivity, once compared to "missing a layer of skin," is reflected in her poetry. Emily Dickinson expresses her sensitivity by writing details that most people would not notice. Emily Dickinson shows her sensitivity in her poem, "I'll Tell You How the Sun Rose." She writes "I'll tell you how the sun rose,– / a ribbon at a time. / The steeples swam in amethyst /... The hill untied their bonnets" ("I'll Tell You How the Sun Rose" lines 1,2,3,5). An insensitive person might describe the sunrise as a "transition from a dark night into bright day." Emily Dickinson, on the other hand, describes the sunrise by the way the colors come across the sky. An example of this is the second line, "a ribbon at a time" ("I'll Tell You How the Sun Rose" line 2). This line illustrates how the sun slowly unravels colors into the sky, extending the process so it can be enjoyed longer. Also, when Emily Dickinson writes "The steeples swam in amethyst," she paints a picture for the reader to depict a church's ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Wonderlands By John Foreman Analysis Jon Foreman's haunting melodies are sung throughout the world as the lead singer and songwriter of Switchfoot, but the San Diego native knows how to do more than just deliver an exceptional rock tune. Sunlight is the first EP in his series of four to be released this year, under the title The Wonderlands. Detailing the transition between 24 hours in a day, the first in the series painting the colors of the dawn breaking, birds chirping, and drops of dew on the grass. Opening with "Terminal," you will be struck by how carefully each layer of this song is crafted. The acoustic guitar is balanced with the light touch of the keys, and the unassuming sound of percussion keeps the melody moving forward before Foreman's vocals are added. The poetry within the lyrics is rich in themes of life and death, and we see the singer wrestle with the concept of humanity as "living souls with terminal hearts." Pulling back in places to add to the ambiance of the morning sky, cymbals come in and enable you to see streaks of pink and orange ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Predominantly created using the picking of the guitar, Foreman's vocals carry a weight that seems to chronicle the beauty and depravity of the human existence. As they speak of longing and he says, "Oh I've been waiting for love to give birth, for new life to show pain it's worth. Oh I've been waiting for peace on earth, like a newborn child," this track stands in stark contrast to the previous song which was an ode about hypocrisy in the church. Instead, "All of God's Children" uses simple instrumentation to emphasize that truth and love are truly shown in the most unknown and un– flashy circumstances. It recounts the promises of the Bible, and discusses a unity within the church that is the polar opposite to the absurdity of "The Patron Saint of Rock and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The city always seemed to push the stars farther away from the world in the dead of night. Rain had begun to sprinkle downtown and it began to trickle across the top of the parked cars in the street. Vernon was sitting there silently listening to the drizzle outside that sounded like pebbles falling on a tin roof, still thinking about the dreams his been having. The Coffee Cup was like any other diner nestled between apartments and liquor stores. There was seven cut–up stools and behind them against the wall sat a cigarette machine and no smoking sign. The counter was worn from years of service. Two booths sat facing the storefront windows ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It's moving, but how?" Vernon had pulled out a pen and was scribbling his thoughts over a napkin. "Ok...ok, so let me think. The dreams started eight days ago, and I've been coming to this diner for the last four weeks." He had drawn a small calendar on the paper napkin, which was tearing apart from Vernon pressing his pen down too hard. "On Sunday I slept for three hours, Monday I did the same, and on Tuesday it seemed like I never closed my eyes." Across the street, a liquor store clerk was pulling down an aluminum shutter tagged with names and abbreviations. The next block over, the lights on a street cleaner lit–up the alley in front of the diner for a moment as it drove by sweeping the gutters. His mind had stopped when she had swung around from behind him, sliding herself into the booth and throwing her bag onto the table. "Counting the days till Christmas," asked Gabby. She had crushed her cigarette butt out in the ashtray at the end of the counter, but the smoke still seemed to follow her across the diner. "You can say that," replied Vernon, who looked sideways at a couple of empty prescription bottles that were sticking out of the top of her purse, then back at her eyes which were beginning to turn black. "Don't worry, it's nothing that won't kill me." She had reached under the table and lifted herself up, pulling off the stockings that she was wearing. Everything was washed in the neutral tone, and not even the hint of another color entered his field of vision. The trees were gray, as were all of the houses. Even the little puppy down the way was a deep ashen hue. The boy gave a soft sigh as he viewed his surroundings, and then shifted his gaze towards the distant horizon. The sun was setting, turning the sky behind the mountains into a myriad of gray shades. It was beautiful, in its own way. But the boy still found it lacking something important –– the color that was supposed to be there. What would the sunset look like with color? The thought wandered idly through his mind as he let ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... But his focus was no longer on the sunset; rather, it was on two faint shapes beginning to form in the sky as they came closer to the town. It soon became apparent that they were small airplanes. The people in the planes were lying almost flat; held in place by a sturdy leather sling. The frame was not very large, and was just thick enough to be able to hold the sling safely. Two long wings spread out horizontally from each side of the frame, one pair adjacent to the top part and the other set bracing the bottom. Towards the back, a smaller set of wings served as rudders. Three propellers were positioned on the craft, a large one at the nose of the plane and two smaller ones on the tips of the large wings of the plane. An adjustable rod was placed towards the front in order to give the flier a way to maneuver their small craft. But Jaden wasn't interested in the aerialists, nor the layout of their machines. He was interested only in how the vessels had been decorated. Both had been given a simple design to make it appear more interesting. Summary Of The Thoreau Experiment The Thoreau Experiment; Applying Thoreau's Ideas to a Modern World, was designed to show students what reliance of technology combined with near rejection of observations to the world around them and their inner world results in an imbalance much in the way Thoreau shared in the 1800's. The whole point of this experiment was said to help students acknowledge that the "old ways" of spending time in nature or with themselves is crucial to their lives and well–being. The experiment contains eight different things you can choose from and the initial goal is "to live life more simply, to get in touch with what truly important." This essay will be covered over my experience with waking up with the dawn. I have watched it before with a group of friends but experiencing it alone was very different. I thought this was neat, because you had no idea what was in store for each morning. One can agree that during the day, the beach can be a noisy place: music, kids, and talkative individuals can all make a difference in the pleasantness of your beach day. During the day in the Bahamas it is quite loud due to the numerous tourists in the area who want to party and have a good time, but at dusk, it stops. Little by little the beach gets less populated with clamorous people and feels more like your own oasis. You begin to hone in on the sounds: the rave music is now more calming; it is maybe playing reggae or something else soothing. The seagulls seem to chirp less, and you are suddenly all alone. As you walk down the beach waiting for the sun to set you feel the softness of the sand, and look back to see how your feet have been molded to become one with the beach. When the sun sets and the sky radiates comforting colors, you begin to feel different: the beach resonates the warmth of the sky through your feet, up into your heart. You look around and see the landscape of the beach has been made lively by the colors of the sky. • 129. Analysis Of The Sun By Emily Dickinson Explication Remember viewing the world through of the lens of adolenscence? That all–encompassing innocence that drove headfirst into all of lifes experiences with passionate optimism. Emily DIckinson definitely remembered that youthful spirit, as it's something she carried with her long into her adult years; not only in her personal life, but in her poetry as well. Despite the standards of verse being quite set in stone at the time of its publication, Dickinsn followed in the footsteps of ?? and wrote what she wanted, how she wanted. This unique sense of free verse is applied in her poem "The Sun", and that's not the only childish quality of the poem. In the same way it's structure contains a youthful sense of freedom from regulations, the poems content is centered around the view of the sun and narure in general, from the perspective of a young child. Powerfully using this expanded metaphor, Dickinson adeptly manages to spread the childlike infectous admiration of the sun, while maintaining a stuning imagery that immerses the reader in the experience of viewing the morning sky. From the first line of the poem, Dickinson displays the excited inquisitive nature fitting for the speaker of the whole poem: an observant child. Bursting with energy, and assuming everyone shares in this sentiment, the speaker begins the first stanza with the statement, "I'll tell you how the sun rose" as if the reader is not only equally excited about the sun rising, but also is asking for details about the topic. Of course, this is simple youthful naivety, but Dickinson masterfully uses the strong tone, to encourage the reader to enter the poem with excited anticipation, as if they really did ask how the sun rises. Upon describing the suns appearance in the sky, the speaker quickly compares it to "A ribbon" which is the kind of simple vanity that would fill the childs day to day life, hence it being the first thing they think to compare it too. The stanza then continues to describe how the suns rays are present over everything as it spreads rapidly throughout the morning sky. Moving into the second stanza, the speaker begins to pick up steam, expressing profound admiration of the sun. In fact, the speaker goes so far as to end ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In 1961, developer Norman Johnson constructed an upside–down house to attract homebuyers to the then rural area. It worked, bringing in thousands, and earning him a Life Magazine spread. Humidity is often between 80 and 90 percent, and localized showers in the late afternoons are fairly common in June and July. But the storms quickly pass and the sun returns. While temps don 't begin to drop out of the 90s until October, a visit in September can be ideal. Students are back in school and the snow birds have not yet descended on Florida.
