The Panorama Of A Lost Cause
"The Panorama of a Lost Cause " Through the eyes of Samuel Watkins, there are sights of horror,
dismay, and affirmations for one's beliefs. As sectional conflicts of the American Civil War, the
views of death in common soldiers, are transforming Watkins' accounts depict that most soldiers
were prideful and willing to die for their side's beliefs, however, at the end of the day these men are
still dying. As the war grew on, so did the realizations of the horrors of battle. For the soldiers who
were immersed with the realisms of battle day in and day out, there was a sense that death even
more inevitable than ever before. It is clear from Watkin's accounts that men were ready to die for
their country on both sides, but especially the Confederates in the South. There was a belief in the
rights of Southern states. Most of these men knew they would die in battle, and they were prepared
to do so. One account of this is Watkins' recollection of the Battle of Kennesaw Mountain. They
were just beginning to fight on June 27th, and Watkins said, "We all knew it was but the dead calm
that precedes the storm," (Watkins, 130). He mentioned that during the nights you could hear the
shrieks and screams of "poor fellows left on the field," (Watkins, 131). Those screams of pain
foreshadowed the official outcome for most soldiers. It was as if there was no chance they would
survive the war. Even before the battles began, some men would just surrcumb to the fact that they

Cow Cavalry Research Paper
The Cow Cavalry were small militia groups formed to protect the inner part of Florida. The small
groups were made up of ranchers and cowhands. Union soldiers would hold raids to capture the
cattle and the Navy union would conduct raids across the coast to destroy the salt works plants, and
eventually capture or force the abandonment of Fort Myers. The whole point of the Cow Cavalry
was to protect the cattle, salt works, and small towns in south Florida. By 1863 Florida had become
the primary source of beef for confederate troops defending Charleston. The fall of Vicksburg and
the closing of Mississippi had stopped the transporting of beef from the trans–Mississippi region
making it hard for them to find food. Florida was split into 5 districts all under the command of
Pleasant W. White of Quincy. White was charged with procuring foodstuffs for the Richmond
government. That had become difficult for him when enemy forces threatened cattle herds moving
northward to the armies and that's where the Cow ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Cow Cavalry consisted of 800 men and was from Fort Myers all the way to Georgia. They
patrolled 300 miles of dusty trails and open ranges and they enabled cattle drivers to be renewed. By
February of 1865 the Cow Cavalry was so successful that there was rumors that the union would
soon abandon Fort Myers. Major William Footman decided he wanted to give the 300 northerners a
push by planning a surprise attack on the fort. But earlier the Cow Cavalry had captured 5 of the
men in the fort and had told Major Footman that there were women and children in there, after
learning that Major Footman had decided to send a surrender demand. But of course the northerners
had refused the demand. Because they refused the demand it started the "southernmost" battle of the
Civil War. Unable to take the fort by force the rebels retreated into the bush but federals unilaterally
abandoned the place a few weeks

Theme Of Death Of The Moth By Virginia Woolf
The story by Virginia Wolf universally illustrates the struggle for life and death. It is a common
phrase that death is inevitable the story shows the struggles with life that are not won in the end. In
The Death of the Moth, Woolf observes a moth flying against a window pane, seemingly trying to
get to the outside world, and not aware that the window pane is blocking its way. There is truth in
saying the only commonality between lives is the inevitability of death. "The Death of the Moth" by
Virginia Woolf explores this theme. Although the thesis is never formally stated, it can be
interpreted to be that death is inescapable, and in spite of life being an uphill battle, it can never be
won as eventually death claims us all. Taking into account Woolf's personal life, which was plagued
with bouts of mental illnesses, ultimately resulting in her suicide; this essay could be considered a
comparison between her own life and the moth's. This essay is intended for the general public, but it
particularly resonates with women and minorities, this is because of Woolf's description of the
moth's battles. In retelling the moth's struggles the audience develops a certain bond with the moth,
this is amplified for people who have been repressed, as they can relate to the hardships this looked
down–upon moth has endured.
The author has a pessimistic view on life and death which is manifested in the tone. Woolf is clear
on her view that life is just one battle after another, and that

Now not all blacks were slaves there were free blacks in the south roughly a quarter million who had

Why? Just like pitchfork.com says, it's really simple– because Macklemore is white. Also, let's be
real, is Macklemore's song really justifiably a "song"? Macklemore converts between different

Considering the beat of the song and how the song is framed up, we can't really call it a song. Yes,
it's a political point on how a white feels on this news–bogging movement. But that doesn't mean
that automatically White Privelliege is a song because that's what it's meant to be. Being real,

Essay On Good Vs Evil Wuthering Heights
Wuthering Heights: Good vs. Evil Emily Bronte's classical literary masterpiece, Wuthering Heights,
can more or less be viewed as a struggle between conventional, civilized human behavior, as well as
the wild, anarchistic side that each of us humans possess, although subtly. Bronte's piece can be
summed up by the "good vs. evil" elements that include Wuthering Heights as opposed to
Thrushcross Grange, Heathcliff vs. Edgar, and much more. These elemental set points lead to the
conclusion that Wuthering Heights cannot be classified as a love story, as there is no 'happy' ending,
and the heroine dies at roughly the halfway point of the book. This aspect makes the masterpiece an
enduring Gothic classic, as Bronte is able to transform characters' feelings onto paper, unmatched by
any in the 'dark' literary realm. Bronte's inclusions of aspects such as ghosts, as well as the
tranquility in which the Grange brings are the set pieces that make the novel a battle between good
and evil, rather than simply a fictitious love account that ends in futility. Emily Bronte seemingly
uses the two estates as a means of setting the tone for the novel's continuous battle between good vs.
evil. In accordance, the two settings of Thrushcross Grange as well as Wuthering Heights establish
the key elements of culture and nature, which in many ways ties in to the Gothic elements of the
novel. The name given to the second dwelling, "Wuthering", meaning extremely windy and
turbulent, emphasizes the

Comparing Poems 'And Come Up From The Fields Father'
1. Compare and contrast the role of nature and the natural world in two poems from this unit: Walt
Whitman's "Come Up from the Fields Father" and Sara Teasdale's "There Will Come Soft Rains."
Be sure to use specific examples from both poems to support your response.
Answer: In the second stanza of "Come Up from the Fields Father," the images are of fullness and
health, and they evoke a sense of pleasant peacefulness. For example, it says, "Where the trees,
deeper green, yellower and redder/ Cool and sweeten Ohio's villages with leaves fluttering in the
moderate wind..." In the first few stanzas of "There Will Come soft Rains," the description of the
rains as "soft" sets a peaceful mood for the poem, as does the calling to mind the smell of wet soil.
The image of the swallows circling completes the tranquil mood. Teasdale continues to focus on the
natural world, unspoiled by human beings. The images here are all positive and the language is
filled with descriptions of a world that is both beautiful and untamed.

Aristotle Voluntary Or Involuntary
"Virtue, then, is about feelings and actions. These receive praise or blame when they are voluntary,
but pardon, sometimes even pity, when they are involuntary" (Nicomachean Ethics Book III 1109b).
Aristotle believed that every action one partakes in is considered to be either voluntary or
involuntary, and that for each circumstance an action is looked upon differently. Although, Aristotle
brings up an astounding point: some actions may have the ability to be "mixed", meaning they are
both voluntary and involuntary actions. "But now consider actions done because of fear of greater
evils, or because of something fine" ( Nichomachean Ethics Book III 1110a 4–5). Actions performed

Through defining what Aristotle thought to be involuntary, he was able to define the voluntary.
Finding that a voluntary act must be known by he/she performing the act, and must be originated by
him/her. For example, if one is to choose to take an action such as to eat a cookie, this action has
been processed in their own mind, and decided without any outside pressure causing it to be a
voluntary action. "...For, presumably, it is not correct to say that action caused by emotion or
appetite is involuntary. For, first of all, on this view none of the other animals will ever act
voluntarily; nor will children..." (Nicomachean Ethics Book III 1111a 24–27). He states a fact to say
that if every action done out of instinct was considered to be involuntary then many actions which
are considered voluntary would no longer be considered so. While involuntary actions are caused by
something that could cause pain, voluntary actions are said to be caused my pleasure. "Next, among
all the actions caused by appetite or emotion do we do none of them voluntarily? Or do we do the
fine actions voluntarily and the shameful involuntarily?"(Book III 1111a 28–30). Aristotle states that
it is absurd to think the things we want are involuntary. He states that this is because some

How The Church Has Been Neglected By The Community Essay
Within the African–American community, Christianity has manifest itself to be one of the
cornerstones of the community. Surprisingly enough however, the church was introduced to
African–Americans as a means of trying to control the thoughts and actions of the slaves. When
analyzing the church in its modern state, it would be hard to come to this realization. Since its
humble beginnings, many African–Americans have come to adopt the Christian faith as their own.
Even as slaves, African–Americans began starting their own churches to allow them to worship how
they wanted. Churches such as Greater Mount Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church (GMPMBC)
(which has been a part of the local community since 1939) are prime examples of how the church

Friday is the day to do rituals and spells for love, romance and sexual matters. Marriage, friendships,

What Is Australia's Journey To Gallipoli
The journey to Gallipoli for the young Australian boys was quite an adventure but it had diabolical
consequences for some of them. In Gallipoli, Peter Weir explores the hard journeys the young
Australians had to endure. Because the soldiers hadn't any idea what they were getting themselves
into, when they arrived the repercussions were tremendous. The journey through Australia, to Egypt
and then to Turkey was not pleasant for the young soldiers because they were all so far from the
places they knew and it was such a long, hard journey. In the film the young Australians had a lot of
new experiences being so far from home and they also lost a lot of their innocence from being so
exposed to death and destruction.
Firstly, The film "Gallipoli" by Peter Weir shows you the journeys of what the Australian soldiers
had to go through. Because they had never left the country or been on a long journey, the thought of

The voyage was hard, long, and tiring. The soldiers spent many days walking through desserts, hills
and trenches. It started with Archie and Frank catching the wrong train and then having to walk
through the Australian outback to get to Perth where the boats leave to Egypt. They walked under
the beating sun for days with only the packs they brought and a small amount of water. While they
were walking you could tell they were exhausted because every step they took they were rigid. Once
they arrived at Perth and joined the Australian troops they then went to Egypt. Egypt is mostly
dessert so when they arrived they had to endure more traveling on foot or horse back. Can you even
imagine carrying close to a 30 kg pack on your back for days on end? There wasn't much food and
water to go around for everyone so some people had to go a while without it. As the further they
went away from home the more exciting the escapade went on because they had no idea what to

hunter and warrior. When Chicksika was killed in an unsuccessful attack in Tennessee Tecumseh

The Battle of the Crater
Introduction The Battle of the Crater was supposed to be an unexpected attempt by
Union forces to break through the Confederate defenses south of a critical hub near Petersburg,
Virginia. The battle took place on the morning of July 30 1864, and consisted of 16,500 IX Corps
Union soldiers and approximately 9,500 Confederate soldiers.1 Ambrose E. Burnside lead the IX
Corps soldiers but overall command of the Union soldiers known as Grant's Army of the Potomac

order of Robert E. Lee. The Union decided to explode a mine under the Confederates and blow a
gap into their defensive lines. Petersburg, Virginia was an important location due to the railheads
that merged together there. The railhead then continued to Richmond the capital to deliver supplies
to the Confederate Army. 2

Rae Swent's The Red River Campaign
The historical play, "The Red River Campaign" written by Rae Swent was about ten thousand Union
soldiers invading a vulnerable Alexandria, Louisiana. The play's narrative was from the point of
view of Union generals, Confederate generals, and a teenage boy, who questions his father about the
Civil War. Duncan Graham, played by Ray Pence, begins asking his father, George Mason Graham,
about the Union occupation in Alexandria during the Civil War. While, there is the presences of an
adolescent son, the only other characters are older and middle–aged men. The play is the history of
the Red River campaign and written from those who planned its' strategy, but the lack of diversity in
gender, age, and characters that were not soliders made the production stale. Also, Duncan and
George Graham speaking to one another directly, and all the other characters directly address the
audience makes the narrative inconsistent and at times hard to understand. While the audience might
understand that Nathaniel Banks led the Union's army and David Dixon Porter led the Union's naval
fleet but the awkward narrative made it hard to understand details like battle plans and battle

Tecumseh Thesis
A brave and fearless man has finally fallen. The remarkable man was known as Tecumseh, son of
the Chief Pucksinwah. During the Battle of Thames, a stray bullet found its mark, embedding into
his hip. He was fighting for justice, against the oppression of Native Americans. It was his calling in
life to defend his homeland, land that "The Great Spirit gave to his Red children." He made it his
duty to protect his people from the Americans' ill intentions. He devoted his time toward this goal,
and even when he drew his last breath, his focus never wavered.
At the tender age of six, Tecumseh grieved the loss of his father. His father was a seasoned warrior,

for guns and other necessities to combat the invaders. He fought in many battles before he met his
demise, including the Battles of Brownstown, Fallen Timbers, Fort Stephenson, and Frenchtown.
Likewise, he participated in the Sieges of Detroit and Fort Meigs. During Tecumseh's War, he fought
for his homeland, which later carried over into the War of 1812. His mutual nemesis was William
Henry Harrison, who, when he was gone, attacked and burned Prophetstown.
In his final battle, Tecumseh fought alongside the Creeks. It was during this battle that a bullet hit
him, wounding him severely. He died soon after, at the age of 45. It is not certain who the bullet
belonged to, but many claim to have extinguished Tecumseh's light. Without Tecumseh, his people

The gains and losses of Gallipoli
Assess the gains and losses of Gallipoli
Gallipoli gave Australia its' identity as nation and built what our nation is today. Gallipoli was one
major fundamental factor in our culture. When you look back into the history of Australia at war
you'll hear Anzacs and diggers a lot. These names all came from one war and in fact one battle.
Anzac stands for the Australian New Zealand army corps. The term diggers comes from soldiers
continually digging trenches, holes and bunkers to sleep in and take cover during an artillery duel.
The term has remained with us for over 90 years. Our soldiers are still living in holes.

There were eight Victoria crosses handed out to Australian soldiers during the Gallipoli campaign.
One of the most famous VC award winners was Lance Corporal Albert Jacka. On the 19 May, the
Turkish launched an a attack to push the Australians into the sea. They seized ten metres of trench at
a place called Courtney's Post, but Australians at either end stopped them from continuing to
advance. At the northern end Jacka, with several of his mates, tried to get rid the Turkish at the post,
but were beaten back. It was then decided that while a feint attack was made from the one end,
Jacka would attack from behind. Jacka's mates waited long enough for Jacka to circle in behind and
then threw two bombs and gave covering fire. Jacka leapt over the parapet, shot five Turkish
soldiers with his rifle, bayonetted two others and forced the rest to flee the captured trench.
Members of Jacka's battalion, 14th Battalion, believed he should of won more VC's in France to.

An Age Of Informational Starvation
We are living in an age of informational starvation. People are seeking for something that is
attractive and glowing to see on their screens. Advertisers found that possibility as an opportunity to
shine and they had created many different works that promote their products. However, it is possible
to stop on one commercial, which is called Cristiano Ronaldo vs. Rafael Nadal, which is the

the leading industries that deliver sports equipment. Nike represents one of the main "players" in the

due to the fact that they are constantly doing different market examinations that concentrate on trend
analysis. That is their profit that is why their researches show them evident details about marketing
trends and they have enough money to adjust. Speaking of the logos of the article, it is important to

Who's For The Game Pope Analysis
In the two given sources, the poems have a strong intention on the reader. The authors of the two
poems use many similes and hyperboles. In the first poem, "Who's For The Game?," Pope has a
strong hook on the reader and uses imagery to describe the scene at which soldiers are at battle. In
the beginning of the poem, "Who's for the Game?", the author states that the poem was inteneded
for the reader to be convinved in joining the U.S. Army. The author shows point of view when she
goes on to describe the scene of many wars and battles. For example, she states, "Who'll give his

When the author states, "Who'll grip and tackle the job unafraid?" the author means that who will be
fearless to go and help their country fight in the war. The meaning of the second poem, Dulce et

convinces the reader not to go to war. In contrast, the second poem is an opposition to the poem
"Who's for the Game?" The poem tries to explain that war is not at all glorious, nor is the death of a
soldier sweet nor pleasant. In addition, the author says, "For there's only one course to pursue,"
meaning that our country has a goal to destroy another country in the war and the soldiers have to
pursue this goal. When the author says, "Your country is up to her neck in a fight, And she's looking

author describes the ranks of the soldiers, and says that soldiers resemble old beggars and hags. In

and northern Ohio (Fort Meigs). When William Henry Harrison invaded Upper Canada, Tecumseh
reluctantly accompanied the British retreat. He was killed by American forces at the Battle of the
Thames on October 5, 1813. Although they never found the body of Tecumseh the Americans nor
the british were sure of his death. Many believed that Colonel Richard M. Johnson had shot and
killed Tecumseh with his pistol. Colonel Johnson was wounded and as he lied there an Indian came
charging at him and all he could do was to fire at the Indian warrior and later soldiers went back to

The Panorama Of A Lost Cause

  • 1. The Panorama Of A Lost Cause "The Panorama of a Lost Cause " Through the eyes of Samuel Watkins, there are sights of horror, dismay, and affirmations for one's beliefs. As sectional conflicts of the American Civil War, the views of death in common soldiers, are transforming Watkins' accounts depict that most soldiers were prideful and willing to die for their side's beliefs, however, at the end of the day these men are still dying. As the war grew on, so did the realizations of the horrors of battle. For the soldiers who were immersed with the realisms of battle day in and day out, there was a sense that death even more inevitable than ever before. It is clear from Watkin's accounts that men were ready to die for their country on both sides, but especially the Confederates in the South. There was a belief in the rights of Southern states. Most of these men knew they would die in battle, and they were prepared to do so. One account of this is Watkins' recollection of the Battle of Kennesaw Mountain. They were just beginning to fight on June 27th, and Watkins said, "We all knew it was but the dead calm that precedes the storm," (Watkins, 130). He mentioned that during the nights you could hear the shrieks and screams of "poor fellows left on the field," (Watkins, 131). Those screams of pain foreshadowed the official outcome for most soldiers. It was as if there was no chance they would survive the war. Even before the battles began, some men would just surrcumb to the fact that they weren 't ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 3. Cow Cavalry Research Paper The Cow Cavalry were small militia groups formed to protect the inner part of Florida. The small groups were made up of ranchers and cowhands. Union soldiers would hold raids to capture the cattle and the Navy union would conduct raids across the coast to destroy the salt works plants, and eventually capture or force the abandonment of Fort Myers. The whole point of the Cow Cavalry was to protect the cattle, salt works, and small towns in south Florida. By 1863 Florida had become the primary source of beef for confederate troops defending Charleston. The fall of Vicksburg and the closing of Mississippi had stopped the transporting of beef from the trans–Mississippi region making it hard for them to find food. Florida was split into 5 districts all under the command of Pleasant W. White of Quincy. White was charged with procuring foodstuffs for the Richmond government. That had become difficult for him when enemy forces threatened cattle herds moving northward to the armies and that's where the Cow ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Cow Cavalry consisted of 800 men and was from Fort Myers all the way to Georgia. They patrolled 300 miles of dusty trails and open ranges and they enabled cattle drivers to be renewed. By February of 1865 the Cow Cavalry was so successful that there was rumors that the union would soon abandon Fort Myers. Major William Footman decided he wanted to give the 300 northerners a push by planning a surprise attack on the fort. But earlier the Cow Cavalry had captured 5 of the men in the fort and had told Major Footman that there were women and children in there, after learning that Major Footman had decided to send a surrender demand. But of course the northerners had refused the demand. Because they refused the demand it started the "southernmost" battle of the Civil War. Unable to take the fort by force the rebels retreated into the bush but federals unilaterally abandoned the place a few weeks ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The family, from which he was descended, was of ancient date, and is honorably spoken of in the history of early times. We read of Sir Walter De Rodeney, of Sir George De Rodeney, and Sir Henry De Rodeney, with several others of the same name, even earlier than the year 1234. Sir Richard De Rodeney accompanied the gallant Richard Coeur de Lion in his crusade to the Holy Land, where he fell, while fighting at the siege of Acre. Mr. Rodney inherited from his father a large landed estate, which was entailed upon him, according to the usages of distinguished families at that day. At the early age of twenty–eight years, such was his popularity, he was appointed high sheriff in the county in which he resided, and on the expiration of his term of service, he was created a justice of the peace, and a judge of the lower courts. In 1762, and perhaps at a still earlier date, he represented the county of Kent in the provincial legislature. • 13. Theme Of Death Of The Moth By Virginia Woolf The story by Virginia Wolf universally illustrates the struggle for life and death. It is a common phrase that death is inevitable the story shows the struggles with life that are not won in the end. In The Death of the Moth, Woolf observes a moth flying against a window pane, seemingly trying to get to the outside world, and not aware that the window pane is blocking its way. There is truth in saying the only commonality between lives is the inevitability of death. "The Death of the Moth" by Virginia Woolf explores this theme. Although the thesis is never formally stated, it can be interpreted to be that death is inescapable, and in spite of life being an uphill battle, it can never be won as eventually death claims us all. Taking into account Woolf's personal life, which was plagued with bouts of mental illnesses, ultimately resulting in her suicide; this essay could be considered a comparison between her own life and the moth's. This essay is intended for the general public, but it particularly resonates with women and minorities, this is because of Woolf's description of the moth's battles. In retelling the moth's struggles the audience develops a certain bond with the moth, this is amplified for people who have been repressed, as they can relate to the hardships this looked down–upon moth has endured. The author has a pessimistic view on life and death which is manifested in the tone. Woolf is clear on her view that life is just one battle after another, and that ... This was to be a evolving era for the military, society and how the two would affect each other. During this era, new tactics and strategies would be tried, changed and adopted throughout future wars while others would fail miserably. Your position in society would usually dictate your position on the battlefield. Even though your position in society did not qualify you as a leader or good decision maker as several outcomes of this Siege would prove. This may very well have affected the outcome of new strategies and tactics. Had better decisions been made on the battlefield ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Now not all blacks were slaves there were free blacks in the south roughly a quarter million who had bought their freedom and moved on to own their own land and slaves. The south was known for their large tobacco and cotton fields, which required daily excruciating backbreaking labor. Slave hands were what made this possible to complete and continue for too long. Not all slaves were out working the plantation or fields, there were also slaves doing everything from carpentry and masonry work to raising children and not necessarily their own children. This was a way of life in the south and without that amount of work; being completed that the slaves were responsible for, the ability to sustain life would be imaginable. As the civil war erupted all war worthy confederate males left their home to defend the southern states against the Union Army. At this time the minimal amount of personnel were left at home to support the family and continue to work the land while maintaining a positive outlook and forward progress. Times were rough for the south if the land was not worked then the crops could not be sold and the family had no income or means to sustain life. Teaming up with Ryan Lewis, Macklemore is an exceptional artist. One of their albums, The Heist, at one point reached number 2 of the week in October, selling over 78,000 copies. At one point in 2013, Macklemore was featured by Music Choice in a new series that was featuring emerging artists. Macklemore has been an extremely successful artist in general. A recent and appalling song from Macklemore is White Privilege. In this song, Macklemore describes his inner battle as a white activist in the Black Lives Matter Movement– Is it really worth him acting like he supports the movement? The intention of this song is, as we can all agree, amazing. Macklemore is putting his unique and personal view on this movement being white person, a view minorities don't often hear. We can all agree that his song in general is honest and amazing. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Why? Just like pitchfork.com says, it's really simple– because Macklemore is white. Also, let's be real, is Macklemore's song really justifiably a "song"? Macklemore converts between different people talking and different perspectives on the movement, to end with his views as the main point. Considering the beat of the song and how the song is framed up, we can't really call it a song. Yes, it's a political point on how a white feels on this news–bogging movement. But that doesn't mean that automatically White Privelliege is a song because that's what it's meant to be. Being real, considering the beat and the way the song is formed, we can't really say this is a song. It's a political call, sure, but not at the end of the day right to be in the music ... • 23. Essay On Good Vs Evil Wuthering Heights Wuthering Heights: Good vs. Evil Emily Bronte's classical literary masterpiece, Wuthering Heights, can more or less be viewed as a struggle between conventional, civilized human behavior, as well as the wild, anarchistic side that each of us humans possess, although subtly. Bronte's piece can be summed up by the "good vs. evil" elements that include Wuthering Heights as opposed to Thrushcross Grange, Heathcliff vs. Edgar, and much more. These elemental set points lead to the conclusion that Wuthering Heights cannot be classified as a love story, as there is no 'happy' ending, and the heroine dies at roughly the halfway point of the book. This aspect makes the masterpiece an enduring Gothic classic, as Bronte is able to transform characters' feelings onto paper, unmatched by any in the 'dark' literary realm. Bronte's inclusions of aspects such as ghosts, as well as the tranquility in which the Grange brings are the set pieces that make the novel a battle between good and evil, rather than simply a fictitious love account that ends in futility. Emily Bronte seemingly uses the two estates as a means of setting the tone for the novel's continuous battle between good vs. evil. In accordance, the two settings of Thrushcross Grange as well as Wuthering Heights establish the key elements of culture and nature, which in many ways ties in to the Gothic elements of the novel. The name given to the second dwelling, "Wuthering", meaning extremely windy and turbulent, emphasizes the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In A Farewell to Arms, it is revealed that before he joined the Italians, he lived in America (Hemingway 19). Before she met Frederic, she was engaged to marry a man that she grew up with (Hemingway 16). Gallipoli was one major fundamental factor in our culture. When you look back into the history of Australia at war you'll hear Anzacs and diggers a lot. These names all came from one war and in fact one battle. Anzac stands for the Australian New Zealand army corps. The term diggers comes from soldiers continually digging trenches, holes and bunkers to sleep in and take cover during an artillery duel. The term has remained with us for over 90 years. Our soldiers are still living in holes. The landing at Anzac cove, Gallipoli, is a significant part in the history of our identity in the war and the world. I ... One of the most famous VC award winners was Lance Corporal Albert Jacka. On the 19 May, the Turkish launched an a attack to push the Australians into the sea. They seized ten metres of trench at a place called Courtney's Post, but Australians at either end stopped them from continuing to advance. At the northern end Jacka, with several of his mates, tried to get rid the Turkish at the post, but were beaten back. It was then decided that while a feint attack was made from the one end, Jacka would attack from behind. Jacka's mates waited long enough for Jacka to circle in behind and then threw two bombs and gave covering fire. Jacka leapt over the parapet, shot five Turkish soldiers with his rifle, bayonetted two others and forced the rest to flee the captured trench. Members of Jacka's battalion, 14th Battalion, believed he should of won more VC's in France to. Another example of Australian courage was the charge of the 8th and 10th Light Horse regiments at The Nek. Advertisers found that possibility as an opportunity to shine and they had created many different works that promote their products. However, it is possible to stop on one commercial, which is called Cristiano Ronaldo vs. Rafael Nadal, which is the commercial by Nike, to understand the way they appeal to the audience. First of all, like any other piece of art, the narrator creates the specific theme that addresses the human eye. That theme provokes a specific response in human mind, and their thinking provokes the profit if the advertiser was successful. However, the ethos of the current commercial is obvious – Nike Company is one of the leading industries that deliver sports equipment. Nike represents one of the main "players" in the sports equipment market. They create rules, and they create trends. Their credibility is outstanding due to the fact that they are constantly doing different market examinations that concentrate on trend analysis. That is their profit that is why their researches show them evident details about marketing trends and they have enough money to adjust. Speaking of the logos of the article, it is important to mention that this commercial used the paradox as the rhetorical device so that it is complex to talk about the logical flow of arguments that they present. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When the author states, "Who'll grip and tackle the job unafraid?" the author means that who will be fearless to go and help their country fight in the war. The meaning of the second poem, Dulce et decorum est, means "It is sweet and fitting to die for one's country." The author portrays and convinces the reader not to go to war. In contrast, the second poem is an opposition to the poem "Who's for the Game?" The poem tries to explain that war is not at all glorious, nor is the death of a soldier sweet nor pleasant. In addition, the author says, "For there's only one course to pursue," meaning that our country has a goal to destroy another country in the war and the soldiers have to pursue this goal. When the author says, "Your country is up to her neck in a fight, And she's looking and calling for you," the author means that the United States is waiting for people to join the army and fight for our country and our country is "looking and calling for you." In this first paragraph, the author describes the ranks of the soldiers, and says that soldiers resemble old beggars and hags. In addition, the term "blood–shod" represents ...
