6. This here is one of the calf barns
that I am approaching to help do
chores.
7. As we approached the barn all
the little calves came running
out.
8. They were trying to investigate
but my camera was kind of
hurting their eyes.
9. A couple of the calves tried to
suck on it thinking it was a
bottle.
10. As I step inside a bunch of the
youngest calves stick their heads
out waiting for the milk pails.
11. To start off I visited one of my friends from college’s dairy farms for spring break. So in the first
five pictures is as I am walking up to his barn. In the first picture I am walking up to the milking barn and
I see this array of artificial flowers around the family farm sign with the massive white structure in the
back ground. Then as I get closer to the building I took another photo because it is such a massive
structure with a ton of engineering but at the same time is just so plain. As I walked into the building I
took a picture of this shiny tank just massive in size but placed perfectly in the little room. So when I
entered the hallway and saw all the stalls and the length it was just almost abstract and stretched
looking to me. So when I saw all the cows that could fit in there I took a picture and it is hard to believe
how much can fit in such a narrow looking space. After that my friends dad told us to go feed the baby
claves in their own barn. So as I walked up to it I snapped a picture of it and as we walked up to the barn
I could not help but snap a bunch of the little calves that were so funny and play full. It was neat that
even though they are all crammed in a small barn they still have the time of their lives.
This was probably one of my more fun spring breaks, even though to most people working on a
dairy farm would not seem all that much fun I had a blast. The whole kind of culture is just so much
different from where I come from and the idea that you are married to the cattle and can never really
leave to get away is just crazy in my eyes. I also kind of like how even though the landscape was, the
grass is green but everything else is gray and white, and still you could pull out such fun almost liveliness
just from the cattle themselves. This was one experience that I will probably never for get.
