It is a specialty of Almeirim and it is said that the first man to do it was a monk and
smart-ass.
Thus, says the legend:
A friar was walking in the pedestal. He arrived at the door of a farmer, but they
did not wantto give him anything. The friar was starving andsaid, "I'll see if I make
a little stone." And he picked up a stone from the floor, shook the earth, and looked
at it, as if to see if it was good for a broth. The people in the house laughed at the
friar and that memory. Says the friar: "So you never ate starch soup?" Just tell
them it's a very good thing. "They said," Do we always want to see this? "That's
what the friar wanted to hear. After he had washed the stone, he asked: "If you
could lend me some sugar?" They gave him a clay pot. He filled it with water and
threw the stone in. "Now, if I could be the little clique there, at the foot of the
embers ..." They left. As soon as the pot began to sizzle, he
said, "With a little taste of it, the broth is ready!"
They went to fetch a piece of it. It boiled, it boiled, and the
people in the house stunned at what I saw. "The friar, tasting the broth: Well you
need a little salt pebble. "They also gave him the salt. He tasted it, tasted it, and
said, "Now, with some little cabbage eyes, it was as if the angels would eat it." The
owner of the house went to the vegetable garden and brought her two cabbages.
The friar cleaned them and ripped them with his fingers and laid the leaves in the
pot. When his eyes were already frayed, he ventured: "Oh, a little slice of chorizo,
you gave him a favor! ..." They brought him a piece of chorizo. He put it in the pan
and, while cooking, took bread from the bag and arranged to eat slowly. The broth
smelled like a treat. "He licked and licked his lips." When the pot was poured, the
stone lay in the background. "The people in the house, who had eyes on him, asked
him," Brother, then the stone?"
" The stone ... I wash it and take it with me for another time.
