2. How does your group use or challenge conventions and how does it
represent social groups or issues?
Our product challenges conventions from typical rap videos. Not
many hip-hop/rap music videos show racing or have the whole video
racing like ours. It uses conventions because our video is exciting and
fast paced like many videos in our genres, compared to slow sad
music videos for R&B for example. Our product represents a social
issue of driving safer. Many people die in car accidents yearly and our
product shows even though we are yes “racing” we did it in a smart
responsible manner by racing around no other cars and putting no
one else at risk.
3. How does your product engage with audiences and how would it be
distributed as a real media text?
Our product engages with audiences by being a fast paced action
packed video that doesn’t get boring. The viewer would want to watch
the video till the end and see who won. Since our video is not the
typical lip sung video and actually has some action in it the audience
would be engaged. Out product would be released as a real media
text on to youtube and iTunes for purchase.
4. How did your production skills develop throughout this project?
Before starting this project I only filmed and edited one other project
and it was not a music video. My production skills developed greatly
throughout this project. I now understand more on how to make a
video more entertaining and not long and boring. I also am more
familiar with editing compared to before. I am becoming more and
more comfortable with filming and editing a task then before.
5. How did you integrate technologies- software hardware and online in
this project?
Our group integrated hardware and software while creating our final
product. We used hardware to actually film the video. We used a Go-
Pro Hero 3, a iPhone 6s, and a iPhone 5s to film all of our shots. The
Go Pro was used on the drivers head mostly to get POV shots, and
shots from a low angle on the ground. The iPhone 6s was used to get
a very high angle of the cars driving and the 5s captured few video
but one important one was the capturing of the drift. The software we
used to edit was Adobe Premier Pro to create our rough draft and the
app video star for our final.
