In pre-production, the group decided to use Celtx to write a script and plan their storyline. They also learned about Final Cut Express for future post-production editing. During production, they chose to use a Panasonic HDC Hs80 camera for its HD recording capabilities. In post-production, they edited the film together using Final Cut Express and added music. They presented their work on Blogger, embedding files, videos, and links from other sites.
2. WHAT KEY DECISIONS WERE MADE ABOUT
TECHNOLOGY IN PRE-PRODUCTION/PRODUCTION AND
POST-PRODUCTION AND HOW DID YOU USE THEM?
Pre-Production
In pre-production we decided to use then learnt how to
use Celtx to devise a script for our storyline. This
helped us as it allowed to write out a clear script
and add stage directions in the appropriate place, Production
clearly. We also had a taster at of Final Cut
Express in our preliminary exercise which we In Production we decided that the camera we would use would
would later use in the post-production of our film. be Panasonic HDC Hs80. We decided to use this camera
as it is able to record in HD and would be suitable for the
kind of amateur film we were making.
Post-production
In post production, we decided to use Final Cut Express
to edit our films together and add and line up appropriate
music in the right place in the film. We also decided to
use Blogger to present our work as a group where we
embedded files and posted links to websites such as
Prezi and SlideShare. We also used YouTube to share
our film onto Blogger.
Why were these decisions made?
We made these decisions so that everyone knew what they
were doing and could assign tasks to each member of the
group and reach our deadline in time by organising our
activities.
3. WHAT WERE SUCCESSFUL USES OF NEW
TECHNOLOGIES IN YOUR PRODUCTION?
Most of the new technologies that we used were successful during all
processes of production. The camera we used created HD recording
for the all the shots we used and we didn’t have any trouble filming
the shots we wanted with the camera used. Such as the ability to
zoom clearly and pan with the tripod were successful in our
production.
Most of the post production technology was successful too. Apart from
some trouble with continuity at the start which was later fixed, the
editing process of our film was successful and we were happy with
the end product.
4. WHAT HAVE I LEARNT?
I have learnt how to use new programs such as
Final Cut Express and the features in it
such as sound editing and how to make
things such as sound bridges and cuts
effective. I have learnt how to use Blogger
and how to do things such as embed files
and videos. Also through the use of Google
questionnaires, I have learnt how to gain
feedback on a product before releasing it to
a varied audience. And finally I have learnt
the different ways to interact with possible
audiences and get in touch with them
through social website such as Facebook.
