Argumentative Essay About Halloween
Christian's who ever said your Halloween has to be evil?
Most Christians I think it's fair to say cringe at the thought of Halloween? But, who ever said that it
has to be an evil time for them or those who visit there house for candy on that night? With the right
purpose and motive it can actually be a very fun and exciting night! Helping to take it back from
those who think it is just plain evil, at least for ourselves to begin with. Maybe, it's because
somehow so few have been educated on halloween's history. Or the history of witches and
witchcraft in our Country and around the world. Why, is it that so many attach or try to attach
witches with Halloween? Witches have been seen in books and movies as ugly, evil and cruel! They
were never suppose to be people that were role models to our childen. Or ones they wanted to dress
like or imitate in any way. "On Oct 31st most people will simply ignore the dark side of Halloween.
The vast majority of the population will dress up in costumes, go to parties and eat candy without
ever even considering where the holiday came from or what certain people are doing behind closed
doors on that night. " The history of Halloween can be traced back to the ancient Celtic pagan
celebration called Samhain (pronounced "sah–win"). Samhain, it 's origin's come from pagan
celebrations where witchcraft was performed and sacrifices were made that occurred on Halloween
night. The night before All

Short Story Endings In Short Stories
Closure and Endings found in Short Stories Every story must start somewhere, but not every story
has to have a complete ending, or even a clear one. With the development of the short story, the
variation between short story endings has gradually increased as time has gone on, like the
difference between a final ending in Flannery O'Connor's "A Good Man is Hard to Find" or John
Cheever's "The Swimmer." However, the endings of some short stories also depend on the style of
how the story is written, like Amy Tan's "Two Kinds," which is a part of a larger novel, and Kate
Chopin's "The Blind Man," which is a new branch of short fiction writing called microfiction. The
ending also comes about based on the subject matter found in the story. For example, Tan is a
second–generation Chinese–American like her character, June, in "Two Kinds." Cheever lived
through the Great Depression, and his family went through a similar fall from grace like his
character Neddy did in "The Swimmer." They say to write what you know, and these authors come
to their endings through their own experiences and the type of style that they write in. Flannery
O'Connor was a writer on rented time. Confined to her house throughout the final days of her
illness, critics theorize that she spent a good amount of time thinking about how her life was coming
to a close. Andre Bleikasten, author of "Beginnings and Endings in Flannery O'Connor," believes
that the reason why many of her stories end with such a finality

My Code Of Chivalry
I grew up with a great deal of respect for the people in my life. I was never the person to talk back to
elders or make fun of someone. Until one day I completely disregarded my own code of chivalry. I
was nine years old and pointed out someone's flaw...right in front of that person's friends...I laughed
while I said it and went off smiling as if life was good. Looking back I cannot believe I was so
callous in that instant. That's the only memory I remember of ever being mean to someone and in
that one instant karma back to me a few years later and I had the same flaw that he had. I was taught
very valuable lesson...be kind to everyone and anyone...the scars I have remind me of my mistake
and because of that I have not made that mistake again. I've grown to be very accepting to anyone
and everyone, I am kind to absolutely anyone, it's my nature and in my code of chivalry I live by
being very kind to others. I stand up for my values and do not disregard them. ... Show more content

If I have nothing else to offer in this world, at least I can be kind. Being kind Is simple, yet very
rewarding. If person carries a negative vibe with them wherever they go then they don't attract many
people. In the same way if someone has a positive outlook on life they attract many, and those
people feed of that energy and want to be around that person more. I always try to see the good in
everything, and am compassionate about always looking forward and knowing greater things are yet
to come. In knowing everything is going to be okay it's easier to be kind. My code of chivalry, be

Identify Types Of Unsuccessful Relationships
Had you ever had an unsuccessful relationship? Most people have been in a relationship in the past
and try working things out with the their love ones and it did not work out. One of these categories
would describe your ex and there would not be necessary for a fifth category. Relationship does not
work out for many reasons. Sometime we get lucky and find the perfect one. Most people would
describe there's ex's with one of these categories. People have different types of unsuccessful
relationship, because it did not work out, someone cheated, too much of a jerk and does not
commute. These kind of an unsuccessful relationship would be a toxic, first love, still friends', and
on and off relationships.

each other. They see each other with hope, because they have a feeling that they might go back
together and maybe work things out. Which in most cases it does not work out, because there is no
limit where these kind of unsuccessful relationship might lead to, either good or bad. For an
example; a on and off relationship are multiple breaks up, where they end up back together. Another
example would be a light bulb being broken, because the light bulb keeps turning on and off, where
you have to fix if you want it to stop flicking all day, which is the same thing as in on and off

My Experience With College
There have been a few places where I been uncomfortable and have noticed many people's mindsets
such as being a growth or fixed mindset. The two places I will talk about where I have been the most
uncomfortable are college and on the city bus. I will talk about what I've heard and I what I learned
about how people think and how that can affect what others think about that person. Starting off
with college, of course it is uncomfortable for everyone being their first time in college because you
really don't know anyone and the age range for the students are very different from the age range in
high school. It was that way for me for the first week or two of being at college, and with how my
schedule is I spend most of my days sitting in the cafeteria so I hear all kinds of things and different
conversations. For me sitting in the cafeteria is not really uncomfortable just it's a little awkward for
me. The one situation I want to talk about happened one day I was hanging out with a few of my
friends when at one point they had walked away for a few minutes that's when some guy who I will
not mention his name approached me and started talking, at first it wasn't bad it was a little awkward
because I didn't know him and he was talking quietly, then he started to talk about things that I don't
feel like mentioning so it was at that point I was really uncomfortable being in that conversation.
After a few minutes of talking he walked away and that's when my

Personal Essay: Life Is Like A Box A Chocolate?
My life has been a roller coaster, I've had some good times but I have also have had a lot of rough
times. Although my life has been tough and challenging, I have managed, so far anyways, to get
through it and move on. From the movie Forrest Gump, one of my favorite movies, there is a
famous line that is probably known to almost everyone who has seen the movie, "Life is like a box a
chocolate" This quote would represent my life because throughout my life, I have really no idea
what is going to happen or what I might get. When given a Russel Stovers box of chocolate, I never
know what kind of chocolate I am going to eat until I actually bite into it. In my life I have had
plenty of surprises that have affected the way I live but still till this day I never know for sure what
might happen. In June of 2013, my life had been affected dramatically. My only father figure I had
in my life continuously had been in a wreck that would affect his entire life from that day on. My
grandpa had taken care of me since I was born, along with my mother and grandmother. So seeing
my grandpa be unconscious and not able to move or breathe on his own was scary. But scary seems
like an understatement. The doctors had told us he had a brain aneurysm, which at the time I was too
young to really understand what that was. A ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Are Environmental Factors, Genetic Patterns, Or Previous
Are environmental factors, genetic patterns, or previous experiences responsible for every single
action people commit in life? Why bothering in telling the truth to others when everything is
justified by a certain response to some kind of stimuli? Many philosophers and psychologists around
the world have been studying the human behavior for several years. Most of them have agreed on
the way people react to things in life such as love, hate, truth, and lies. As a matter of fact, various
theories have been developed when it comes to justify human behavior. These theories happen to
explain the relationship between the body and mind of human beings from different perspectives.
Just to mention one, we have Behaviorism. Behaviorism, ethics, and ... Show more content on

So, what kind of human behavior that is?
Ethics, on the other hand, also defined as moral philosophy, encloses the meaning of what is wrong
and right in life. Questions arise from this term such as what's the best way for me to go through this
situation? How can I end up being the least damaged? What's the best way for me to live in this
world without being hurt? If I lie, only this time, would it be wrong or right? Everything goes
around one self. Then, we have the term psychological egoism where every person is being
motivated by self–interest and well–being, without caring about others. Therefore, lying to others in
order to achieve a certain benefit becomes a self–ethical psychological egoism, in other words, if I'm
going to be fine and won't get hurt after lying, then it's right for me to do it no matter what the
consequences will be. Philosophers like Kant condemned any kind of lying. They use to say that
lying, even if it was the only way possible to save oneself from some situation, was never ethically
permissible. How right is it to be admitted in a hospital almost dying from some kind of unknown
condition and lie about anything in your daily life that can be relevant to your doctor in order to
diagnose what you have going on inside you? Why would you lie to your mother when something
went wrong and you could not do things the way she told you to? Why to lie about pregnancy if it's
not illegal? What to lie about sex if you're

Benefits Of Thanksgiving
Thanksgiving was meant to be a feast at which we are grateful for what we have. The dinner that has
been a tradition to bring not only families, but people together has been tainted. I love my job and I
love shopping, but it is heartbreaking to see how people treat each other on this day of thanks. The
shoving in lines and the fighting over material possessions is something we learn not to do as
children. After working on "Black Friday" for the last few years I can tell you that most people are
not thankful for what they have. That scarf you were going to buy your grandma is not worth hurting
someone mentally of physically. Most shoppers are also buying for themselves which means that

How Did Schizophrenic Grandma Changed My Life?
Ironically, my Schizophrenic grandma has taught and challenged me the most throughout my life,
even though she has only an eighth grade education. Her mental illness has enabled my growth
although she is not able to. Although, my grandma did not educationally inform me she made me
understand what was important. According to Albert Einstein, " Everybody is a genius. But if you
judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid."
Throughout my childhood my grandma has had many ephemeral episodes. Distressed as a child I
watched my grandma being scrutinized by the public eye. I cannot let anything consume me, her
Schizophrenia has taught. I say this because, Schizophrenia often changed her personality. Some
days it would seem like we are starting over again having to teach a child not to do things that we
naturally know. No matter what my grandma has always been kind and generous. I could never
understand how my grandma has been so kind to those who would belittle her because of her
Schizophrenia. While climbing, the tree my grandma was judged How can a fish, climb a tree?

History Of The Oreo Cookies
Do you know that yummy treat that goes great with some cold, fresh milk? Well, that treat is the
Oreo! I have always kind of wanted to know information about who invented the cookie, how many
Oreos have been sold, what different names the cookie has had, how they got there name, and what
kind of a different Oreos there are. In the year of 1912, the food scientist created, " America's
favorite cookie". His name was Sam J. Porcello. He recently died at the age of 76. Sam was
employed at Nabisco for 34 years which was the industry of the Oreo cookie. Sam also had 2 kids
and would go home after work and tell them all about his day. What he would do, where he would

It was actually one of the last. Here is the order of the names it went through. First it was called the
Oreo Biscuit in 1912. Then, it was called the Oreo creme sandwich in 1948. In 1974, it was called
the Oreo chocolate sandwich cookie. And then last, in 2001 it became the Oreo cookie. The "Oreo"
cookie has quite a different name and your probably wondering why it's called that. Nabisco took
words that describe the Oreos from different languages and put them together. The French word for
gold which is "or". They took the word gold because in the 1900's, the packaging was gold. Nabisco
also took the Greek word for mountain which is "oros". They wanted the word "mountain" because
it is a "Mountain of yumminess" which used to be the old slogan. What they first came up with was
a saying O–cream–O. One fact about Oreos is that more than 450 billion Oreos have been sold over
its existence. The Oreo was first introduced on March 6, 1912. The invention of the first Oreo just
turned 104 years old. When it first hit the market in 1912, it practically marketed itself. But to help
this industry grow, there have been many ads to spread the

Narrative Essay On Health And Social Care
This week has been crazy busy. We have had all kinds of animals, with all kinds of issues. We've
been so busy that our appointments have been back to back, with little time between. This kind of
sucks for the patients since we only have two rooms, and usually one doctor on staff, but we are
pretty efficient and everyone gets in and out in a timely manner. Of course with the priority being
that everyone gets the treatment they need and their questions answered. This week had a lot of cool
cases, one of which was my first real emergency case. There was once previous one, but it turned

This was after we started to get some of the bleeding under control, but it ended up requiring a mini
tourniquet of sorts to go around the mass because it just wouldn't stop bleeding. We were stuck
between a rock and a hard place because Checkers' being such an old dog, had a much higher
chance of dying during any surgery to remove this mass, which is why it wasn't removed before, but
also the tourniquet wasn't a permanent fix, and if it started to bleed again checkers would most
likely bleed to death. So what do you do? Well the owners elected to proceed with surgery, but with
blood work first. The surgery was scheduled for the next day as long as the bloodwork came back
fine. Well, nothing in life is ever one hundred percent planned, and sometimes life throws you, or in
this case Checkers a curve ball. Her blood work came back as being anemic, and with signs of
possible cushings. Not good. Surgery was postponed one week and we are hoping the new blood

Argumentative Papers On Orthorexia
Orthorexia – when healthy eating turns against you Healthy eating has been on the lips of
everybody, at the end of the day, we all want to take care of ourselves and live without worrying
about our body. Therefore, living a heathy lifestyle is undoubtedly, a culture that is liked by many
people. However, there are a rising trend of people taking this to an extreme by turning their
obsession with healthy eating to an addiction, and it is ironically leading them to an unhealthy
lifestyle (Orthorexia. 2011). Orthorexia is a new kind of eating disorder which appeared recently in
this decade. In the beginning, patients start to be aware of what they eat, by e.g. looking at the
labels, checking the calories of their meal, etc. Later, they begin to restrict themselves to eating
certain kinds of food that they perceive as healthy, while seeing other food as unclean and impure.
In some extreme cases, patients fear going out with people as there are nothing they can eat in the
occasions, they become embarrassed to talk about their unusually eating habit with others or even
eat in front of others. Therefore, they tend to cover their disease by regarding themselves as vegan,
vegetarian or being allergic to certain kinds of food when they are actually not. Their mania with ...

Patients has to let go of the labelling and learn to focus on eating with flexibility and listen to what
their body needs. On a deeper level, they should break free from the social convention and ideology
advocating 'healthy eating'. Finally, it should be pointed out that although the effect of orthorexia is
long–lasting and has been affecting a large number of people, the disease is rather new and it has not
been clinically recorded as a kind of eating disorder. (Edelstein, D. 2002, 06). I strongly believe that
there is a need to officially name orthorexia as an eating disorder so the patient fixated on healthy
eating can get the help that they

Humble And Kind By Tim Mcgraw: Song Analysis
I choose the song "Humble and Kind" performed by Tim McGraw in 2015. You can find the song
here on YouTube at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=awzNHuGqoMc. "Humble and Kind" was

the song to reflect the life and way she wants her kids to grow up. Tim McGraw was asked to
perform the song for her, were he gladly accepted. Lori herself later performed the song next few
years. I would believe that this song would fall other the pop music form. As for country music is
not really "country" anymore; it is a mixture of almost every form of popular music in America. The

What Literature Teaches About Different Cultures
Our world is full of hundreds of cultures, scattered all over the place, but when we can't travel to
every country on earth, how can we find out about these cultures. We can learn a tremendous
amount about a culture, just through studying their literature. First of all, we can learn a great
amount about their basic culture; their everyday life. We can also learn what kind of society they
live in now, and what kind they did live in hundreds of years ago. And finally we can learn about
their history simply from studying their culture. Culture isn't only defined as a country's history or
what kind of society they live in, it's also about simple things like what you eat, or what kind of bed
you have, or what you believe in.

Korean culture believes that tradition is everything in literature, using the same metaphors or
subjects for writing and putting them into you're own poems is considered a very good thing to do.
We can see this in many poems; Koreans use symbols and imagery to represent different things in
their poems, a lot of poems talk about a river, a flower, or rolling hills, these all mean that time
continues, a chrysanthemum or an orchid in a poems means virtue. There are many symbols that are
in Korean poems that we see over and over again, this shows that in Korean culture tradition is
beautiful.
Korea is ruled under a Confucianist society, and has been for over five hundred years, it's a little
more relaxed now, but the ideas of Confucianism are still there. When you're in a Confucianist
society there is the idea of "Law vs. Ritual" this means that people have internalized the idea of not
breaking the law, up to 99% of Koreans don't even know what would happen if they broke the law
because they know you just "don't do it". This is present in the film "Joint Security Area" (JSA), the
Koreans have internalized the idea that you do not cross the line that separates North and South
Korea.
Relationships in Korea have been shaped around the idea of Confucianism. In Korea the Caste
System is still present to this day; however it is not as strong as it used to be. In the Caste System

A Birthday Cake Short Story
A young boy, Scotty, is involved in a hit and run car accident on his birthday as he walks to school
on a Monday morning. Scotty dies three days later as a result of occlusion, which doctors say would
have been prevented had it been recognized earlier. Scotty's mother, Ann Weiss, who is interactive
and loves making friends, had ordered a sixteen–dollar cake on Saturday for his son's eighth
birthday, which scheduled to take place on a Monday from a taciturn baker whom he left her
telephone number. The baker, oblivious of Scotty's accident and demise, makes harassing calls to
Scotty's home asking them to pick up their three–day–old cake. The story ends with the baker being
rueful and asking for forgiveness for how he treated the Weiss family stating that it was a result of
solitude and childlessness. Indeed, one needs to be kind to others as everyone we come across is
fighting their battle.
The story brings compassion and friendliness to the characters. At the beginning of the story when
ordering a birthday cake, Ann Weiss tries to engage the baker in a conversation, but his quiet nature
makes her wonder if he has ever had anything else to do in his life apart from baking. Because of his
quiet reaction, she gives up making friends with him. Her compassionate nature is also seen when

thinks that she is the nurse, asking about his condition. They narrate to her how he was

Vampires And Pop Culture
We have been living in the era of vampires and any other kinds of monsters for a while now.
Vampires have always been relatable creatures, which allows fans to connect with vampire
characters. They represent the attraction towards being a vampire and having eternal life and are
presented to popular culture in a way that is attractive and relatable to the evolution of vampires
(Del Toro and Hogan 37). Over the past years, vampires have jumped in popularity and pop culture
appeal, taking over our television sets, the movie theaters and box offices and books from around
the world. Around 2010, Hollywood released four vampire films along with a bunch of vampire
DVD's, and the immensely popular television series like the vampire diaries and true blood
continued to air due to how popular those shows are. One monster I'd like to put as an example
would be vampires "Blood Thirsty: Why are Vampires Ruling Pop Culture?" by Lindsay Bradshaw.
They are the latest trends to appear on pop–culture`s radar, but this is not the first time its caught the
publics eye. Vampires have been a constant presence in the literature and film world since the
1897`s publication of Bram Stoker`s "Dracula", arguably the best vampire text of all time. The idea
that vampires exist across the globe has been a subject of folk tale, superstition, and myth
throughout the history of man. Even before the famous Dracula, the word vampires was originated
in eastern European Folklore, terrorizing small communities in

should have been punished for doing it.
Dr. Gey, the doctor who had founded Hela, had used her cells to make money from it and made Hela
public. When Henrietta's family had found out about it, they were outraged and knew that they
wanted something from it. But Gey needed something from them, he needed more cells from her. So
that meant he needed to unbury her and get her cells. Her husband was not wanting that to happen at
all. He wanted her to be left alone. So Gey told him that if he would be able to get her cells there
would be a possibility that if her children had some kind of cancer in the future, he would be able to
cure it. Then Henrietta's other cousin was able to help Gey convince her husband. She knew it
would be for the right things. He finally agreed on it and allowed Gey to unbury her and get her
cells. But this is not right. Unburying someone should not happen. After burying them, that means
they are supposed to be at

Why Is Miss Havisham Important
I think all throughout great expectations, you learn that revenge is not sweet, and you should forgive
and forget. Not only through the lessons that Miss Havisham has learned through the years, but
through the things that Miss Havisham did to Estella and Pip. Although the two ended up good
people, they had to learn a lot of things the hard way. Pip was always a kind as a child, but when he
went to Miss Havisham's the first day, something broke in him. He suddenly became sullen, almost
heartless, like Estella was to him. The two were clouded by Miss Havisham's judgment, and
ultimately, it hurt Miss Havisham in the end. Now, we really learn a lot about how Pip changes
throughout the book, but what about Estella? Miss Havisham? Although we don't really learn about
what has happened to Estella until the very end, we learn a lot about Miss Havisham during ... Show

I think there is something to say when a woman of so much pride breaks down in front of Pip. It
shows us that Miss Havisham is starting to understand what all really mattered. It was not breaking
hearts through Estella; it was that she should have treated Estella in a way where she could love. She
shouldn't have pushed away Pip and Estella, and she should have been kinder to Pip. This is where I
learned that Miss Havisham isn't just a 'Proper Lady', she wanted to be kind, and I think she learned
that being kind is much more important than revenge. When Pip says that although Miss Havisham
has made mistakes, it is important to him that he forgives her, that also really made me reflect on
why Miss Havisham did what she did. She wasn't trying to hurt Estella or be rude to her, but trying
to help her. Miss Havisham's idea of 'well being' although different than others, makes her, well, her.
She of course has her own morals, so when we judge her, we have to know what she was doing was
for what she thought would be good for

Research Paper: a Good Man Is Hard to Find
Research Paper: A Good Man is Hard to Find
A good man really is hard to find. But what is the real definition of a real man? Maybe it is not just
the prince charming you see in fairy tales or the perfect guy walking down Sixth Ave. that you pass
by everyday to work. Maybe a good guy is simply someone that is good what they do. In this case
the relationship between the grandmother and the misfit is just that. The only thing is if the reader
sees it as clearly as the author would like them too or simply as she does. The setting of the story is
never really clear to the reader. The author never really comes out and says where and when the
story takes place, but with a few clues an idea is given on a pretty clear setting of "A Good Man is ...

This could have been the case between he misfit and the grandmother both. But it's never really
clearly said. The misfit could have been known as the evil villain of the story. The grandmother was
slowly beginning to turn into one but never made it all the way. "So take a chance, and take a look at
Flannery O'Connor. Prepare to laugh, to be shocked, and to think. But most of all, be prepared to
see." –Welborn. There are many symbols in A Good Man is Hard to Find. "A Symbol is something
that represents something else by association, resemblance, or convention, especially a material
object used to represent something invisible." –Symbol. The first most obvious symbol is the
Grandmother's hat. She wears the hat for one sole purpose; if she were to die she would want the
ones who found her body to be able to identify her as a lady. When she prepares for the car trip, she
prepares for any accident that may occur. For the grandmother the only thing that seems to matter to
her is that she is recognized as a lady, this reveals her selfishness and flimsy moral convention.
When the grandmother first gets ready for the trip, the hat is in perfect condition. No tears, no
nothing. When the grandmother gets involved in the car accident, just like her moral convictions,
her hat begins to fall apart. The rim of the hat begins to tear as she faces the misfit and is thrown
from the car. When the

George Saunders's Speech Analysis
Commencement Address
What do you regret in life? What will you regret later on in life? People regret a lot of things during
their lifetime, but what is the most critical thing to regret? I will tell you what. The answer is to find
in George Saunders' speech ''Commencement Address" delivered at Syracuse University in New
York State in May 2013. George Saunders is an American writer and university professor. In his
speech, George Saunders focuses on some moments in his life, but also bigger themes in life and
work. The need for kindness, the risk in focusing too much on success and the fact that we prioritize
our own needs over the needs of others, even though, deep down our heart we want to be less
selfish, more opening and loving. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first part is about the fact that we think we are central to the universe, our personal story is the
most interesting and important. The second part is that we are separate from the universe, the US
and then all the others. It is like we are not one gathered unite in this world and therefore we feel
unfamiliar and different from people we do not know. The third part is that we are permanent which
means that people only want to focus on what has importance for their own life.
George Saunders describes success as "a mountain that keeps growing ahead of you as you hike it"
This metaphor contributes to the understanding of his point that says that there is a real danger of
putting too much focus in succeeding because it will take up your whole life. This is the only target
people nowadays will focus on and therefore the big questions go untended.
The message in George Saunders speech is that people should be more kind to each other and start
being less selfish. Lack of kindness and love is the exact thing you are going to regret. As the last
part of the speech shows, Saunders is exaggerating the imagination of how kind and loving the
students are in the future. "[...] and we're both so kind and loving we're nearly unbearable, drop me a
line, let me know how your life has been. I hope you will say: It has been so

Love Is A Distinct Feeling
Love is very distinct feeling. However, the word love is difficult to define and understand. It is one
of the most important aspects in every human's life. In my opinion, love is utterly unconditional and
is between many people, pets, or even things. Love is very important feeling that everyone should
have. Everyone should show love and receive love, as it is one of the most powerful forces in the
world. Love can be felt for family members, friends, pets, lifeless objects, partners, and many more.
You know that bittersweet feeling you get when you are with someone special. When your heart is
beating out of your chest, and you get the butterflies in the bottom of your stomach when they reach
for your hand. That is what I consider love in a relationship between two unrelated people. Between
partners, love should be a relationship of understanding each other, showing respect to one another,
and being compassionate towards each other. True love for a couple should be unconditional. I
definitely believe in true love, as I have had many great experiences with love. For example, in
September of 2013 I met a handsome guy named Dillon and we started dating. He has shown me
what true love is. He loves me unconditionally whether I am sick, in a bad mood, in a great mood, or
having a horrible day. He makes me exceptionally happy and I love spending my time with him. He
always tells me, "If I'm not making you happy, then I'm not doing my job." He is what keeps me

Life In My Life
"Life is 10% what happens to is and 90% how we react to it" said Dennis p. Kimbro. The lives of
most people are not always perfect and probably never will be; and that's ok because having a life
with its ups and downs is absolutely normal and ok. My life has had all of its up and downs and still
does. I'm pretty sure most people or maybe just a few can relate to the kind of things that have
shaped me into the person I am today. Some may be bad or good experiences or people that have
made any person they are today. It might be surprising to some people how much in common we
have just by looking into our similar life changing experiences and encounters. These kind of events
or people can make you into the person you are today and give you the personality that you think
fits you best. Being in touch with God and my faith has really shaped me into the strong and
independent person I am today, also going through depression and having a child at a young age has
made me stronger as well.
Not many people seem to fully understand how real depression is and how serious these feelings can
be. But I do– in dealing with depression, medication, and surviving suicide attempts. I can discuss
my experiences truthfully and clearly. I remember the first time I thought of suicide. I thought of
different ways to do it, when and where. The days would be endless when I was depressed. I felt like
a piece of trash that was always getting stepped on or not seen. The mental institution I stayed at
was so cold and dull. Every day I would wake up and hear the screams and cries of other children,
some younger than me; They would beg to go home and cry saying "i want to go home...let me see
my mommy!" I was constantly reminded of this situation every time I looked down at my wrist and
arms. Cuts and bruises everywhere. Some from the doctors who constantly took out my blood or put
stuff inside me, and some caused by myself. I did not see this as getting help at first, i felt like i was
in prison. I felt like i was in trouble for what i had done. During my time of depression, i constantly
felt alone. I was scared all the time and feared the thoughts of being alone forever. This time in my
life has really shaped me into the kind or strong and

Only light in the mist and on the water.
And God said, "Let there be light," and there was light. God saw that the light was good, and he
separated the light from the darkness. God called the light day, and the darkness he called night. And
there was evening, and there was morning the first day."
The first day. The very beginning of everything, in this old world. The beginning of time, the
beginning of history. The beginning of all the happiness and sorrow of mankind. For it was on this
day that the great and loving creator, with a wonderful purpose in mind, drew near this blacked–out
planet, this dark little speck in space, and said.
"Let there be light."
Great Preparations
As the light of earths first day fades into night, something strange and wonderful begins to happen.
Silently, mysteriously, the heavy, moisture–laden mist that has held close to the ocean begins to rise.
All night and all the next morning it goes up, up, up until it becomes a beautiful fleecy white
covering high above the world. Between it and the water below there is clear, fresh air, forming the
atmosphere.. "And God said, "Let there be a vault between the waters to separate water from water."
So God made the vault and separated the water under the vault from the water above it. And it was
so. God called the vault "sky." And there was evening, and there was morning–the second day."
Perhaps you are wondering why God took one whole day of creation week

Defining Community Essay
What do you think about your neighbours? How do you feel about your schools? What do you think
about your community? Community has always been a big part of our lives and it has been here
since the day we were born. We might even live on the same street, but we grow up in different
households and this results in many different views on communities. The many definitions of our
community may include our home, our heritage, and even our religion. First, community is our
"home." We have been living in a community ever since we were just little babies and it has always
influenced us. Communities have played a big part in who we are today. We start off in school not

They go back to our ancestors that have originated our last names. There is background for almost
every last name in your community and that is the great thing about it. Long after you are deceased,
you will be remembered for the great things you have done. You will not just be remembered for
yourself, but for the things that you have accomplished in your community as well. You will always
be recognized and remembered for the things that you chose to do in your community. Community
is a big part of you and everything you do will be associated with it. Third, Community is your
religion. The day you begin to realize what community means to you is the day you begin to believe
in it. Anywhere you go, it will be an instinct for you to represent your community, whether it be
through sports or just leisure travels. You represent what means most to you and will always defend
it the best you can. Community is not an actual religion, but it is a personal religion. The best way to
define a community will never be clear. You have your own feelings on communities and our
thoughts on it will always be different from everyone else's. Everyone has a different perspective on
communities, it is endless. All of the definitions relate to what I think about a community.
Community to me means "home". A community is where I have grown up and learned important life
lessons. The things that matter most to me in my community are my family, my

The Sexual Assault Of Sex Offenders
Rough Draft
For many people the term sex offender brings up extreme emotions. However, it is the nature of the
crime that needs to be considered before the label. The laws and punishments that are enforced
during and after prison varies by where the offender lives and the severity of the crime. But, there is
much more that needs to be considered. First , the things that are considered sexual assault, if the
child is forced to have sex without consent, if the person is having sex with a minor, or sexually
assaulting a person that is over the age of 18. These are just a few of the issues that can be
considered Sexual Assault. But, not all sexual offences are convicted the same, the punishment

Their afterward registry amount varies as well if the person that was assaulted was over the age of
18 then the offender has to register for 10 years.
Next, is going to be about the punishments for sex offenders, juvenile sex offender's etc. When the
offender is placed in front of the judge the statuses will normally set a range of punishments. Some
judges will also "examine" the sex offenders and irritation and justifying issues when deciding on
the fully committed sentence. This is because if they have more justifying factors about them than
aggravating factors they could get lucky and get a more lenient sentence. If they have committed a
bad enough sexual assault then they can get 24, 36 or even 48 months in prison with a $10,000
bond. This kind of sentence with the bond being allowed is called the "determinant" this is basically
there to kind of let the offender know that the law is not kidding around about sexual abuse or sexual
assaults. This punishment also depends on the state of where this assault was convicted if the child
received any mental/physical damage to their body. In some states they have begun to make their
laws a little tougher with Florida making the number one spot they have started to consider the death
penalty. Also some states have slowed the death rate for sexual offenses and some states have made
a law with life without parole. There punishment can also be varied

Comparing The Road Not Taken And George Jones Choices
Robert Frost's The Road not Taken and George Jones Choices both describe the decision of life.
Frost's work is more upbeat and more promising; people can relate to his feeling slightly because it
is a life reminder that everyone deals with. While Jones is more sad and darker also more relatable
for how close to home it is to jones, and people who have ever experienced what he has. Modern
artist commonly convey Frost's message because of how much it is an everyday situation. Poetry
and music can kind of give an idea of what they were feeling at that time. Jones and Frost although
different in tone ,the idea is the same we are all given choices and the ones we pick are a stepping
stone to a better set of choices or worst set of choices.
Both portray the heartfelt confusion one can feel when the time comes, people often wonder if the
decision they made is the right one , thinking that maybe they would not be in this fork of the woods
if they were richer or if they married this guy or maybe even if they did not give in to something. ...

Cultures And Characteristics Of Cultural Imperialism In...
Cultural Imperialism in Pakistan
Cultural Imperialism is a term which got fame in late 1960s. It is basically about the cultural
characteristics of Imperialism. Imperialism means domination of something. Generally dominant
nations tend to invade other country's culture through media. In this way they not only manipulate
the ideology of targeted country but also changed their cultural values. If we look deep in history
then we came to know that third world countries are most influenced by this kind of media content.
Also these countries wants to enjoy global culture; so they adopt global culture by itself and thus
their own culture become extinct.
Pakistani society is also a prey of this feature of imperialism. We have a diverse and varied culture
throughout the country. We have our own festivals, dress code, food, literature; but everything is
now changed. This is due to cultural imperialism. Here we discuss cultural imperialism with the help
of its three indicators so can able to locate roots of this cultural domination in our society.

Cultural Imperialism also has effects on our intellectual. We have same media content to air as west.
There is now no difference between Pakistani drama and Turkish/Indian dramas. Characters
presented in drama have no relation with a common man. Costumes, set designs, make up, even
sound effects are same. Stories are far away from representing reality. Same is the case with our
music industry. "Rap" culture is now getting reputation among youth.
Our literature has also been changed. We have now a new kind of genre in literature which was not
appreciated or owned by classic and legend writers; that is suspense thrillers. We have now Imran
series and writers like Ibn e Safi who wrote about suspense. This is a mere following of west as in
their society these kind of novels are considered best

An Analysis Of George Saunders And David Foster Wallace Essay
Nichele Rascoe Rascoe 1
English 120
October 10, 2016
Often times, many forget to be kind to one another. When we are performing out our daily activities
we forget to think about other people. Individuals can be naturally selfish or self– centered. There
are multiple obstacles working against our being kind to one another. Our own success being one of
them. We must remember to put ourselves in the shoes of the other person, in order to understand
the issues in front of us. It is not easy to become detached ourselves from how we usually are nor
how we are born, but it is imperative that we try to ensure a brighter future. Why should we be more
kind, or in fact less self–centered? George Saunders and David Foster Wallace mention the
importance of being kind to one another and the steps necessary in graduation speeches. Both
writers state that acting in kindness, ultimately leads to new freedoms and creates an enlightened
human being. In the Commencement Speech, "This is Water: Some Thoughts, Delivered on a
Significant Occasion, about Living a Compassionate Life," Wallace claims that people are naturally
self– centered. (235) We only tend to see the world as it relates or pertains to us. Wallace's speech is
meant to change the graduate's perspective on the world. Wallace believes that the graduates should
heed his advice because it will eventually provide an important

How Did My Mother Impact My Life

How Do I Love Thee Poem Analysis Essay

Dr. Hebert
English Comp. II
28 March 2011
Poem Analysis In How do I love thee by Elizabeth Barrett Browning. I believe that the person
talking is professing about a kind of love that can stand the test of time. You know that kind of love.
Every day and moment is cherished by both. Each person knows almost everything about each other
and they have been together for what would seem like forever. It is very rare these days to see a
younger generation finding that love. And in a way it is understandable with all the new technology
that can help with relationships. Back then there was not a thing called therapy or a marriage

Suddenly they have to live their life like they may be gone the next day and the day they are living
in is their last day on this earth. There is a fire sparked in their life and everything that they do
suddenly matters to them. Even the little things they do for a daily routine, such as brushing their
hair in the morning or picking out an outfit the night before for the day to come. He could very well
be trying to express this kind of love for her by stating it in the poem. Maybe he already does that
and he wants to share it with the world. Like the fact that every little thing that she does may mean
something to him and may put him in a state of awe. Or in the same sense he could be showing the
world that he cares for her because he finds the little things in life that could make her happy.
Toward the end of the poem it also states that he loves this woman with his childhood's faith. I think
what he means is that he loves her like a child would. Looking back, as a child, nothing really
mattered. Everyone that you knew shared what they had with hardly any questions asked. Your
parents were the coolest people you that you knew. You could roam free with mismatched clothes
and shoes and no one would care and you could just play and everyone was nice to you no matter
the color of your skin, how much money your parents made or where you were from. I believe that
the author of this poem is trying to convey that the speaker has this kind of thinking

The Two Accounts of Creation in Genesis
"When God began to create heaven and earth, and the earth then was welter and waste and darkness
over the deep and God 's breath hovering er the waters, God said, "Let there be light""(The Hebrew
Bible 94). This is how readers have always started out studying the Bible. Little did they know there
was an entirely different account of creation just a little ways down from the first account they see in
Genesis. So, is there really two different accounts of God creating the Earth in the Bible? Some
people believe yes, others believe, no. Throughout this essay I will be taking a deeper look into the
two accounts of creation by comparing and contrasting the time periods, accounts of vegetation, and
the animal life that God created. The Bible can be a tricky piece of literature to read, but I am going
to break it down to view the accounts in a more in depth view.
In the beginning of Genesis we are introduced to God and he is beginning to make the Earth as we
know it today. The first book of Genesis discusses the way God just had to speak and his words
would bring life to the planet. Genesis 1 takes us on a journey through all six days of creation.
Throughout the six days God manages to create the heavens and the earth, the sky, land, stars, all the
creatures that live in the water, and all the creatures that inhabit the land. Genesis 2 starts out telling
us about what God

Supporting Evolution through God
"In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth." This Bible quote has created great
controversy throughout the years amongst Christians and the theory of evolution. I have heard
numerous times, "Believing evolution makes you an unbeliever of God." The reason for such belief
is because the Bible states in Genesis that God created the heavens, Earth, and all that resides on
Earth within seven days. Our society has whole–heartedly believed in these scriptures for over 2,000
years, so the development of the theory of evolution, which explained creation by gradual changes
through natural selection, was too radical and contradictory to accept. However, what if the Bible in
fact supported the idea of evolution? The Bible supports ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This would describe why the Bible described the land appearing.
By the time of land appearing, the Earth would have developed for over two billion years, and this is
where the interesting events occurred... the beginning of life. Research has shown that after a stable
atmosphere and water was developed, an unclear event of favorable conditions allowed simple
organisms such as bacteria to come into existence (Rosenberg). These organisms began to develop
and improve into several different types of complex organisms that went separate routes in the
evolutionary chain. Some bacteria developed into vegetation and covered the Earth more quickly
than the other types of bacteria (Heckman). This agrees with the Bible when it stated after creating
the land, "Let the land produce vegetation: plants and trees on the land that bear fruit with seed in it,
according to their various kinds." Vegetation may have developed from similar bacteria, but it was
different factors and mutations in their cellular structures that created the billions of plant–life we
have today. This could have occurred by chance again, or, God could have designed this
development. With land present and vegetation now covering, God finished what he saw as his third
day of work.
One main miscalculation the Bible held was its description of God's fourth day of work. It stated
that God created the sun, moon, and stars on the fourth day to govern the day and

Argumentative Essay About Halloween

  • 1. Argumentative Essay About Halloween Christian's who ever said your Halloween has to be evil? Most Christians I think it's fair to say cringe at the thought of Halloween? But, who ever said that it has to be an evil time for them or those who visit there house for candy on that night? With the right purpose and motive it can actually be a very fun and exciting night! Helping to take it back from those who think it is just plain evil, at least for ourselves to begin with. Maybe, it's because somehow so few have been educated on halloween's history. Or the history of witches and witchcraft in our Country and around the world. Why, is it that so many attach or try to attach witches with Halloween? Witches have been seen in books and movies as ugly, evil and cruel! They were never suppose to be people that were role models to our childen. Or ones they wanted to dress like or imitate in any way. "On Oct 31st most people will simply ignore the dark side of Halloween. The vast majority of the population will dress up in costumes, go to parties and eat candy without ever even considering where the holiday came from or what certain people are doing behind closed doors on that night. " The history of Halloween can be traced back to the ancient Celtic pagan celebration called Samhain (pronounced "sah–win"). Samhain, it 's origin's come from pagan celebrations where witchcraft was performed and sacrifices were made that occurred on Halloween night. The night before All ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 3. Short Story Endings In Short Stories Closure and Endings found in Short Stories Every story must start somewhere, but not every story has to have a complete ending, or even a clear one. With the development of the short story, the variation between short story endings has gradually increased as time has gone on, like the difference between a final ending in Flannery O'Connor's "A Good Man is Hard to Find" or John Cheever's "The Swimmer." However, the endings of some short stories also depend on the style of how the story is written, like Amy Tan's "Two Kinds," which is a part of a larger novel, and Kate Chopin's "The Blind Man," which is a new branch of short fiction writing called microfiction. The ending also comes about based on the subject matter found in the story. For example, Tan is a second–generation Chinese–American like her character, June, in "Two Kinds." Cheever lived through the Great Depression, and his family went through a similar fall from grace like his character Neddy did in "The Swimmer." They say to write what you know, and these authors come to their endings through their own experiences and the type of style that they write in. Flannery O'Connor was a writer on rented time. Confined to her house throughout the final days of her illness, critics theorize that she spent a good amount of time thinking about how her life was coming to a close. Andre Bleikasten, author of "Beginnings and Endings in Flannery O'Connor," believes that the reason why many of her stories end with such a finality ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Until one day I completely disregarded my own code of chivalry. I was nine years old and pointed out someone's flaw...right in front of that person's friends...I laughed while I said it and went off smiling as if life was good. Looking back I cannot believe I was so callous in that instant. That's the only memory I remember of ever being mean to someone and in that one instant karma back to me a few years later and I had the same flaw that he had. I was taught very valuable lesson...be kind to everyone and anyone...the scars I have remind me of my mistake and because of that I have not made that mistake again. The two places I will talk about where I have been the most uncomfortable are college and on the city bus. I will talk about what I've heard and I what I learned about how people think and how that can affect what others think about that person. Starting off with college, of course it is uncomfortable for everyone being their first time in college because you really don't know anyone and the age range for the students are very different from the age range in high school. It was that way for me for the first week or two of being at college, and with how my schedule is I spend most of my days sitting in the cafeteria so I hear all kinds of things and different conversations. For me sitting in the cafeteria is not really uncomfortable just it's a little awkward for me. The one situation I want to talk about happened one day I was hanging out with a few of my friends when at one point they had walked away for a few minutes that's when some guy who I will not mention his name approached me and started talking, at first it wasn't bad it was a little awkward because I didn't know him and he was talking quietly, then he started to talk about things that I don't feel like mentioning so it was at that point I was really uncomfortable being in that conversation. Although my life has been tough and challenging, I have managed, so far anyways, to get through it and move on. From the movie Forrest Gump, one of my favorite movies, there is a famous line that is probably known to almost everyone who has seen the movie, "Life is like a box a chocolate" This quote would represent my life because throughout my life, I have really no idea what is going to happen or what I might get. When given a Russel Stovers box of chocolate, I never know what kind of chocolate I am going to eat until I actually bite into it. In my life I have had plenty of surprises that have affected the way I live but still till this day I never know for sure what might happen. In June of 2013, my life had been affected dramatically. My only father figure I had in my life continuously had been in a wreck that would affect his entire life from that day on. My grandpa had taken care of me since I was born, along with my mother and grandmother. So seeing my grandpa be unconscious and not able to move or breathe on his own was scary. But scary seems like an understatement. The doctors had told us he had a brain aneurysm, which at the time I was too young to really understand what that was. A ... • 13. Are Environmental Factors, Genetic Patterns, Or Previous Are environmental factors, genetic patterns, or previous experiences responsible for every single action people commit in life? Why bothering in telling the truth to others when everything is justified by a certain response to some kind of stimuli? Many philosophers and psychologists around the world have been studying the human behavior for several years. Most of them have agreed on the way people react to things in life such as love, hate, truth, and lies. As a matter of fact, various theories have been developed when it comes to justify human behavior. These theories happen to explain the relationship between the body and mind of human beings from different perspectives. Just to mention one, we have Behaviorism. Behaviorism, ethics, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... So, what kind of human behavior that is? Ethics, on the other hand, also defined as moral philosophy, encloses the meaning of what is wrong and right in life. Questions arise from this term such as what's the best way for me to go through this situation? How can I end up being the least damaged? What's the best way for me to live in this world without being hurt? If I lie, only this time, would it be wrong or right? Everything goes around one self. Then, we have the term psychological egoism where every person is being motivated by self–interest and well–being, without caring about others. Therefore, lying to others in order to achieve a certain benefit becomes a self–ethical psychological egoism, in other words, if I'm going to be fine and won't get hurt after lying, then it's right for me to do it no matter what the consequences will be. Philosophers like Kant condemned any kind of lying. They use to say that lying, even if it was the only way possible to save oneself from some situation, was never ethically permissible. How right is it to be admitted in a hospital almost dying from some kind of unknown condition and lie about anything in your daily life that can be relevant to your doctor in order to diagnose what you have going on inside you? Why would you lie to your mother when something went wrong and you could not do things the way she told you to? Why to lie about pregnancy if it's not illegal? What to lie about sex if you're ... Ironically, my Schizophrenic grandma has taught and challenged me the most throughout my life, even though she has only an eighth grade education. Her mental illness has enabled my growth although she is not able to. Although, my grandma did not educationally inform me she made me understand what was important. According to Albert Einstein, " Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid." Throughout my childhood my grandma has had many ephemeral episodes. Distressed as a child I watched my grandma being scrutinized by the public eye. I cannot let anything consume me, her Schizophrenia has taught. I say this because, Schizophrenia often changed her personality. Some days it would seem like we are starting over again having to teach a child not to do things that we naturally know. No matter what my grandma has always been kind and generous. I have always kind of wanted to know information about who invented the cookie, how many Oreos have been sold, what different names the cookie has had, how they got there name, and what kind of a different Oreos there are. In the year of 1912, the food scientist created, " America's favorite cookie". His name was Sam J. Porcello. He recently died at the age of 76. Sam was employed at Nabisco for 34 years which was the industry of the Oreo cookie. Sam also had 2 kids and would go home after work and tell them all about his day. Here is the order of the names it went through. First it was called the Oreo Biscuit in 1912. Then, it was called the Oreo creme sandwich in 1948. In 1974, it was called the Oreo chocolate sandwich cookie. And then last, in 2001 it became the Oreo cookie. The "Oreo" cookie has quite a different name and your probably wondering why it's called that. Nabisco took words that describe the Oreos from different languages and put them together. The French word for gold which is "or". They took the word gold because in the 1900's, the packaging was gold. Nabisco also took the Greek word for mountain which is "oros". They wanted the word "mountain" because it is a "Mountain of yumminess" which used to be the old slogan. What they first came up with was a saying O–cream–O. One fact about Oreos is that more than 450 billion Oreos have been sold over its existence. The Oreo was first introduced on March 6, 1912. The invention of the first Oreo just turned 104 years old. When it first hit the market in 1912, it practically marketed itself. But to help this industry grow, there have been many ads to spread the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 21. Narrative Essay On Health And Social Care This week has been crazy busy. We have had all kinds of animals, with all kinds of issues. We've been so busy that our appointments have been back to back, with little time between. This kind of sucks for the patients since we only have two rooms, and usually one doctor on staff, but we are pretty efficient and everyone gets in and out in a timely manner. Of course with the priority being that everyone gets the treatment they need and their questions answered. This week had a lot of cool cases, one of which was my first real emergency case. There was once previous one, but it turned out to be less emergent and that's for another post. So, we got a call about an elderly dog who was bleeding profusely from the eye and no matter what the owners ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This was after we started to get some of the bleeding under control, but it ended up requiring a mini tourniquet of sorts to go around the mass because it just wouldn't stop bleeding. We were stuck between a rock and a hard place because Checkers' being such an old dog, had a much higher chance of dying during any surgery to remove this mass, which is why it wasn't removed before, but also the tourniquet wasn't a permanent fix, and if it started to bleed again checkers would most likely bleed to death. So what do you do? Well the owners elected to proceed with surgery, but with blood work first. The surgery was scheduled for the next day as long as the bloodwork came back fine. Well, nothing in life is ever one hundred percent planned, and sometimes life throws you, or in this case Checkers a curve ball. Her blood work came back as being anemic, and with signs of possible cushings. Not good. Surgery was postponed one week and we are hoping the new blood work in a week will be better and that the tourniquet made of sutures holds. • 23. Argumentative Papers On Orthorexia Orthorexia – when healthy eating turns against you Healthy eating has been on the lips of everybody, at the end of the day, we all want to take care of ourselves and live without worrying about our body. Therefore, living a heathy lifestyle is undoubtedly, a culture that is liked by many people. However, there are a rising trend of people taking this to an extreme by turning their obsession with healthy eating to an addiction, and it is ironically leading them to an unhealthy lifestyle (Orthorexia. 2011). Orthorexia is a new kind of eating disorder which appeared recently in this decade. In the beginning, patients start to be aware of what they eat, by e.g. looking at the labels, checking the calories of their meal, etc. Later, they begin to restrict themselves to eating certain kinds of food that they perceive as healthy, while seeing other food as unclean and impure. In some extreme cases, patients fear going out with people as there are nothing they can eat in the occasions, they become embarrassed to talk about their unusually eating habit with others or even eat in front of others. Therefore, they tend to cover their disease by regarding themselves as vegan, vegetarian or being allergic to certain kinds of food when they are actually not. Their mania with ... (Edelstein, D. 2002, 06). I strongly believe that there is a need to officially name orthorexia as an eating disorder so the patient fixated on healthy eating can get the help that they ... We can also learn what kind of society they live in now, and what kind they did live in hundreds of years ago. And finally we can learn about their history simply from studying their culture. Scotty dies three days later as a result of occlusion, which doctors say would have been prevented had it been recognized earlier. Scotty's mother, Ann Weiss, who is interactive and loves making friends, had ordered a sixteen–dollar cake on Saturday for his son's eighth birthday, which scheduled to take place on a Monday from a taciturn baker whom he left her telephone number. The baker, oblivious of Scotty's accident and demise, makes harassing calls to Scotty's home asking them to pick up their three–day–old cake. The story ends with the baker being rueful and asking for forgiveness for how he treated the Weiss family stating that it was a result of solitude and childlessness. Indeed, one needs to be kind to others as everyone we come across is fighting their battle. The story brings compassion and friendliness to the characters. At the beginning of the story when ordering a birthday cake, Ann Weiss tries to engage the baker in a conversation, but his quiet nature makes her wonder if he has ever had anything else to do in his life apart from baking. Because of his quiet reaction, she gives up making friends with him. Vampires have always been relatable creatures, which allows fans to connect with vampire characters. They represent the attraction towards being a vampire and having eternal life and are presented to popular culture in a way that is attractive and relatable to the evolution of vampires (Del Toro and Hogan 37). Over the past years, vampires have jumped in popularity and pop culture appeal, taking over our television sets, the movie theaters and box offices and books from around the world. Around 2010, Hollywood released four vampire films along with a bunch of vampire DVD's, and the immensely popular television series like the vampire diaries and true blood continued to air due to how popular those shows are. One monster I'd like to put as an example would be vampires "Blood Thirsty: Why are Vampires Ruling Pop Culture?" by Lindsay Bradshaw. They are the latest trends to appear on pop–culture`s radar, but this is not the first time its caught the publics eye. Vampires have been a constant presence in the literature and film world since the 1897`s publication of Bram Stoker`s "Dracula", arguably the best vampire text of all time. Not only through the lessons that Miss Havisham has learned through the years, but through the things that Miss Havisham did to Estella and Pip. She shouldn't have pushed away Pip and Estella, and she should have been kinder to Pip. This is where I learned that Miss Havisham isn't just a 'Proper Lady', she wanted to be kind, and I think she learned that being kind is much more important than revenge. When Pip says that although Miss Havisham has made mistakes, it is important to him that he forgives her, that also really made me reflect on why Miss Havisham did what she did. She wasn't trying to hurt Estella or be rude to her, but trying to help her. Miss Havisham's idea of 'well being' although different than others, makes her, well, her. People regret a lot of things during their lifetime, but what is the most critical thing to regret? I will tell you what. The answer is to find in George Saunders' speech ''Commencement Address" delivered at Syracuse University in New York State in May 2013. George Saunders is an American writer and university professor. In his speech, George Saunders focuses on some moments in his life, but also bigger themes in life and work. The need for kindness, the risk in focusing too much on success and the fact that we prioritize our own needs over the needs of others, even though, deep down our heart we want to be less selfish, more opening and loving. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The first part is about the fact that we think we are central to the universe, our personal story is the most interesting and important. The second part is that we are separate from the universe, the US and then all the others. It is like we are not one gathered unite in this world and therefore we feel unfamiliar and different from people we do not know. The third part is that we are permanent which means that people only want to focus on what has importance for their own life. George Saunders describes success as "a mountain that keeps growing ahead of you as you hike it" This metaphor contributes to the understanding of his point that says that there is a real danger of putting too much focus in succeeding because it will take up your whole life. This is the only target people nowadays will focus on and therefore the big questions go untended. The message in George Saunders speech is that people should be more kind to each other and start being less selfish. Lack of kindness and love is the exact thing you are going to regret. As the last part of the speech shows, Saunders is exaggerating the imagination of how kind and loving the students are in the future. • 47. Love Is A Distinct Feeling Love is very distinct feeling. However, the word love is difficult to define and understand. It is one of the most important aspects in every human's life. In my opinion, love is utterly unconditional and is between many people, pets, or even things. Love is very important feeling that everyone should have. Everyone should show love and receive love, as it is one of the most powerful forces in the world. Love can be felt for family members, friends, pets, lifeless objects, partners, and many more. You know that bittersweet feeling you get when you are with someone special. When your heart is beating out of your chest, and you get the butterflies in the bottom of your stomach when they reach for your hand. That is what I consider love in a relationship between two unrelated people. Between partners, love should be a relationship of understanding each other, showing respect to one another, and being compassionate towards each other. True love for a couple should be unconditional. I definitely believe in true love, as I have had many great experiences with love. For example, in September of 2013 I met a handsome guy named Dillon and we started dating. He has shown me what true love is. He loves me unconditionally whether I am sick, in a bad mood, in a great mood, or having a horrible day. He makes me exceptionally happy and I love spending my time with him. The lives of most people are not always perfect and probably never will be; and that's ok because having a life with its ups and downs is absolutely normal and ok. My life has had all of its up and downs and still does. I'm pretty sure most people or maybe just a few can relate to the kind of things that have shaped me into the person I am today. Some may be bad or good experiences or people that have made any person they are today. It might be surprising to some people how much in common we have just by looking into our similar life changing experiences and encounters. These kind of events or people can make you into the person you are today and give you the personality that you think fits you best. I was constantly reminded of this situation every time I looked down at my wrist and arms. Cuts and bruises everywhere. Some from the doctors who constantly took out my blood or put stuff inside me, and some caused by myself. I did not see this as getting help at first, i felt like i was in prison. You represent what means most to you and will always defend it the best you can. Community is not an actual religion, but it is a personal religion. Frost's work is more upbeat and more promising; people can relate to his feeling slightly because it is a life reminder that everyone deals with. While Jones is more sad and darker also more relatable for how close to home it is to jones, and people who have ever experienced what he has. Modern artist commonly convey Frost's message because of how much it is an everyday situation. Poetry and music can kind of give an idea of what they were feeling at that time. Jones and Frost although different in tone ,the idea is the same we are all given choices and the ones we pick are a stepping stone to a better set of choices or worst set of choices. Both portray the heartfelt confusion one can feel when the time comes, people often wonder if the decision they made is the right one , thinking that maybe they would not be in this fork of the woods if they were richer or if they married this guy or maybe even if they did not give in to something. ... When we are performing out our daily activities we forget to think about other people. Individuals can be naturally selfish or self– centered. There are multiple obstacles working against our being kind to one another. Our own success being one of them. We must remember to put ourselves in the shoes of the other person, in order to understand the issues in front of us. It is not easy to become detached ourselves from how we usually are nor how we are born, but it is imperative that we try to ensure a brighter future. Why should we be more kind, or in fact less self–centered? George Saunders and David Foster Wallace mention the importance of being kind to one another and the steps necessary in graduation speeches. Both writers state that acting in kindness, ultimately leads to new freedoms and creates an enlightened human being. In the Commencement Speech, "This is Water: Some Thoughts, Delivered on a Significant Occasion, about Living a Compassionate Life," Wallace claims that people are naturally self– centered. I believe that the person talking is professing about a kind of love that can stand the test of time. You know that kind of love. Every day and moment is cherished by both. Each person knows almost everything about each other and they have been together for what would seem like forever. It is very rare these days to see a younger generation finding that love. He could very well be trying to express this kind of love for her by stating it in the poem. Maybe he already does that and he wants to share it with the world. Like the fact that every little thing that she does may mean something to him and may put him in a state of awe. Or in the same sense he could be showing the world that he cares for her because he finds the little things in life that could make her happy. Toward the end of the poem it also states that he loves this woman with his childhood's faith. I think what he means is that he loves her like a child would. Looking back, as a child, nothing really mattered. Everyone that you knew shared what they had with hardly any questions asked. Your parents were the coolest people you that you knew. You could roam free with mismatched clothes and shoes and no one would care and you could just play and everyone was nice to you no matter the color of your skin, how much money your parents made or where you were from. The Two Accounts Of Creation Melodie Waddell Professor Lydia Postell English 2111–01 7 July 2015 The Two Accounts of Creation in Genesis "When God began to create heaven and earth, and the earth then was welter and waste and darkness over the deep and God 's breath hovering er the waters, God said, "Let there be light""(The Hebrew Bible 94). This is how readers have always started out studying the Bible. Little did they know there was an entirely different account of creation just a little ways down from the first account they see in Genesis. So, is there really two different accounts of God creating the Earth in the Bible? Some people believe yes, others believe, no. Throughout this essay I will be taking a deeper look into the two accounts of creation by comparing and contrasting the time periods, accounts of vegetation, and the animal life that God created. The Bible can be a tricky piece of literature to read, but I am going to break it down to view the accounts in a more in depth view. In the beginning of Genesis we are introduced to God and he is beginning to make the Earth as we know it today. The first book of Genesis discusses the way God just had to speak and his words would bring life to the planet. Genesis 1 takes us on a journey through all six days of creation. Throughout the six days God manages to create the heavens and the earth, the sky, land, stars, all the creatures that live in the water, and all the creatures that inhabit the land. Genesis 2 starts out telling us about what God ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 78. Supporting Evolution through God "In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth." This Bible quote has created great controversy throughout the years amongst Christians and the theory of evolution. I have heard numerous times, "Believing evolution makes you an unbeliever of God." The reason for such belief is because the Bible states in Genesis that God created the heavens, Earth, and all that resides on Earth within seven days. Our society has whole–heartedly believed in these scriptures for over 2,000 years, so the development of the theory of evolution, which explained creation by gradual changes through natural selection, was too radical and contradictory to accept. However, what if the Bible in fact supported the idea of evolution? The Bible supports ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This would describe why the Bible described the land appearing. By the time of land appearing, the Earth would have developed for over two billion years, and this is where the interesting events occurred... the beginning of life. Research has shown that after a stable atmosphere and water was developed, an unclear event of favorable conditions allowed simple organisms such as bacteria to come into existence (Rosenberg). These organisms began to develop and improve into several different types of complex organisms that went separate routes in the evolutionary chain. Some bacteria developed into vegetation and covered the Earth more quickly than the other types of bacteria (Heckman). This agrees with the Bible when it stated after creating the land, "Let the land produce vegetation: plants and trees on the land that bear fruit with seed in it, according to their various kinds." Vegetation may have developed from similar bacteria, but it was different factors and mutations in their cellular structures that created the billions of plant–life we have today. This could have occurred by chance again, or, God could have designed this development. With land present and vegetation now covering, God finished what he saw as his third day of work. One main miscalculation the Bible held was its description of God's fourth day of work. It stated that God created the sun, moon, and stars on the fourth day to govern the day and ...
