2. Analysing existing Digipaks
To gain an understanding of what a digipak is I will need to look at artists digipaks to see what I have to
compete with. We will be getting our inspiration from ones that have already been made that is the
same genre of ‘Aluna George- You know you like it’ so we can relate some of the features that are
used.
I am going to analysis my favourite digipak next – LOUD by Rihanna.
4. Outside 3 panels
The outside panels are very intriguing to her target audience as it is her as the front cover, even her
target audience would know who she is because she is such a big artist. Her music is original and her
voice is very unique no one else can sing like her. I chose this as she has made it vibrant, therefore It
will standout from the rest of the digipaks on the shelves. The colour red can be linked to passion,
desire and courage, Rihanna has all of that. It is also a very emotional colour, it fits with her music
genre.
The inside panels are creative and ‘sassy’ she attracts men and younger girls as they like her music
and her appearance. She is seen as a role model to some people.
The disk is original as it is a pink rose, it is all linked together well. Red can be shown as love and so can
roses.
5. Research on Digipaks
◦ They began in 2000 and became very popular, millions are
released every year and everyone will come in one. The packaging
is very similar to a DVD case they are just smaller and the case is a
harder plastic- logo/pictures are printed onto cardboard and are
placed into the inside of the digipaks. The disk will then have
something that relates to the pictures printed on it.
◦ It is a very quick process, electronic and CD stores buy them in bulk
and store them on their shelves. As it is a new product within the
store they will try and promote it in a place where all of the
customers that come into the store will see it, it will also be
advertised on TV so the audience know they are selling that certain
product.
◦ We will have to create a digipak for our music video, our inspiration
will come from others albums that are similar to ours but our group
will make it unique so it stands our from the other people’s in our
media A2 class. Front, back and inside panels will need to be
created and of a similar style so it makes sense of what music it is.
