Мета:
Практична: повторити вивчену за тему лексику, назви типів
шкіл, формувати навички читання з повним розумінням
прочитаного та аналізувати прочитане;
Освітня: поглибити знання учнів про систему навчання шкіл
інших країн;
Розвиваюча: розвивати мовну здогадку та мовленнєву реакцію,
уяву, монологічне мовлення, навички аудіювання, діалогічне
мовлення;
Виховна : виховувати культуру спілкування , прищеплювати
прагнення використовувати здобуті знання як засобу
інтелектуального самоствердження.
Обладнання: проектні роботи учнів, тексти для аудіювання, тексти з
діалогами, тексти для читання.
Тип уроку: урок узагальнення і систематизації знань.

1. Вступ. Warming up.
Вчитель: Good morning everybody. Glad to see you! Today we’ll have a final
lesson on our topic about school and education. Let’s read this quotation:
If education passes from one generation to another it is the soul of a society.
Do you agree with it? So where do people usually get their education?

attitude to it. Do you remember that at the beginning of this theme I asked you

Japanese school. Now Joshua, what time do you go to school?
Joshua: Eight o'clock.
Randall: Eight o'clock. And do you go by yourself, or on a school bus?
Joshua: No, I have a group that goes with me.
Randall: So you go with a group?
Joshua: Uh-huh.
Randall: Now what kinds of things do you take to school?
Joshua: I take my taiso fuku, that is gym clothes, and I take my backpack and my
books [ Oh, okay. ] and stuff like that.
Randall: Okay and what is the first thing you do when you get to school?
Joshua: We do "kiritsu, rei."
Randall: "Kiritsu" and "rei." Now what are those?
Joshua: It means "stand up, bow."
Randall: Stand up and bow.
Joshua: Uh-huh.
Randall: And what do you study at school?
Joshua: We study kokugo, that is writing and reading and stuff like that [ Okay ],
and sansu, that's math. [ Okay. ]. And, let's see . . . , we do gym too.
Randall: Okay, and where do you eat lunch? Do you have a lunchroom or
cafeteria?
Joshua: No, we eat in our classroom.
Randall: You eat in your classroom! [ Yeah. ]. Oh wow. That is very interesting.
Now what time do you come home from school?
Joshua: We come home sometimes at 3:00 and sometimes at 2:00.
Randall: Okay, well thank you very much Joshua.
Joshua: You're welcome.

Some facts about Japanese schools
*The Japanese school year extends for 210 or so days—
compared to 180 in the United States, 251 in China, 220 in
South Korea, and 214 in Israel. The Japanese school year
starts in April and is divided into three terms:
1) April to July
2) September to December
3) January to March.
There is a six week vacation in the summer, two weeks in winter and two weeks in
spring.
*Kindergarten usually starts at age 3.
*Children start elementary school in April after their sixth birthday.
*A typical Japanese elementary school class has around 30 to 40 students.
*Students have homework over summer and winter vacations.
*The five-day school week was introduced in 2002.
*Almost all schools, even public schools, require students to wear uniforms.
*The school day goes from around 8:30am to 3:00pm.
*Students study subjects such as social studies , Japanese, English, math,
science/technology, history, healthy living, computer science, music, art, physical
education, and home economics, as well as learning traditional arts such as shodo
(calligraphy) and haiku (17-syllable poem with 3 lines of 5, 7 and 5 syllables).
*In March 2010, about 56,000 public schools in Japan were using electronic
blackboards.
*Every day students have "Daily Duties" they do, including
cleaning the classrooms, halls, and yards of their schools.
Students in elementary school, middle school, and high school
sweep the hall floors after lunch and before they go home at the
end of the day. They also clean the windows, scrub the toilets
and empty the trash cans under the supervision of student
leaders. Souji ("honorable cleaning") is a period of about 15 minutes each day
when all activities stops, mops and buckets appears and everyone goes for cleaning
up.
*Almost all students take part in an extracurricular club activity such as a
sports team, cultural club, a musical or arts group, or a science club.
Examples include Baseball, Soccer (Football), American Football, Judo,
Tennis, Basketball, Volleyball, Choir, Cooking, Student Government,
Chadou (Tea Ceremony), Photography, Kyuudou (Archery), Fencing,
English, Computer, Cheerleading, Newspaper, Manga (Comics), Theater.
*School events include sports day, arts and culture festivals and more.
*Students who have been caught cheating have had their heads shaved and have
been expelled from school.
*Japanese schools do not have proms (school balls).
