IN WHAT WAYS DOES YOUR MEDIA PRODUCT USE, DEVELOP OR

3. INSPIRATIONS
THIRTY SECONDS TO MARS –
THIS IS WAR
MY FRONT COVER
For my front cover I used
the idea of a tiger from
the album “this is war by
thirty seconds to mars” as
it shows that the band
are intimidating and
fierce but for my front
cover the tiger doesn’t
seem as fierce which if I
were to do again I would
change by making the
tiger look more up and
grimace.

4. I used the album “BEFORE THE
WAVES by MAGIC MAN” to
decide on what colours to
use on my album cover as
they used colours to contrast
with the darkness instead of
just the traditional standard
black and white contrast
which bands such as arctic
monkeys used in their album
covers.

5. Why did I use a tunnel?
I used this tunnel as we knew that it was a space that people used to express themselves through
graffiti and as bleached blonde express themselves through their music it was a suitable place
I then edited them so that it
removed the rawness of the
graffiti and also that there
was more of a focus on the
art to show that the band are
focused on their music to
suggest that their music
comes first.
For part of my digipak I used photos from our shoot in a tunnel near the millennium
eye for the lyrics page

6. Artist website
 Conventions used:
 Title, videos, photos, songs, gig dates, photos of artist, albums, news,
merch
 Conventions not used:
 Prominent picture of artist

7. For my website I decided to uses similar
colours to my front cover by using bold
contrasting colours other than black and
white like Arctic monkeys use . This was done
so that the website was better to look at and
more visually interesting.
On my website the album and social media takes
the most prominent place as the bands values are
that the music and fans come first and so the
prominence of the music and social media is key
- Star theory

8. For the photos on the
website I decided to
make the photos from the
shoot stylised and in a sort
of Instagram style by
playing around with the
saturation

9. Music video
 Conventions of a music video used:
 Performance, narrative, features artist, name of song/ band fit the
genre, shows artists values and beliefs

10.  In the video I decided to use mostly performance as through my
research I found that music videos from the indie rock genre have
mostly performance but I did decided to put some narrative in to
make it different and challenge the conventions slightly.
