3. Masthead – my masthead appeals to the
target audience because of the size, font and
colour scheme. It is white on a black
background which makes it stand out more.
The font is bold which draws the eye contact
of the reader towards that. It is called “BEAT”.
This have relations to music because it is like
the “beat” of the music.
4. Colour Scheme – my colour scheme for the
front cover is mainly black and white. This
makes the cover lines stand out and anchors
them to the main image. I also chose to have
a yellow circle with a promotion inside it, this
emphasises the promotion and draws eye
contact towards the offer. As well as this I
have a red menu strip, this breaks up the
page and also draws attention to it so it
doesn’t fade into the background.
5. Font Styles & size – The hierarchy of text is
very important because it shows the reader
which is the most important section of the
magazines. It also helps to anchor the image
that the cover line is related to. The font I
chose for the masthead was a graffiti style.
This is to keep with the genre and style of the
magazine.
6.
7. Font – I chose to use the same masthead font
as on the front cover to try and show
continuity. The font I used for the cover lines
was small but not so small that the reader
would have to look close to read it. For the
font of the cover lines I chose to have a
simple font so that it didn’t detract to much
attention from the images and also to give it
a sense of formality.
8. Colour Scheme – I chose to go with the usual
convention with the colour scheme which is
red, white and black. I chose this because I
have seen several popular music magazines
such as The Word, Q and NME.
9.
10. Watermark – the watermark is a large central
piece of my double page spread. It makes it
stand out more and relates to the artist
because his name is “O-Bee”. It also breaks
the page up so there isn’t just an interview on
the right hand page.
11. Images – I chose to have two images of the
artist who is being interviewed with one
overlapping the other. In one of the images
he is laughing and in the other he looks
upset, these are contrasting and might make
the reader want to find out why his emotions
are changing during the course of the
interview.
12. Pull Quotes – I chose to have the pull quotes
on the same page as the images, this is so
that when the reader is looking at the images
they will read the pull quotes as well. This
means they will read the best sections of the
interview first and then be intrigued by it so
hopefully read the whole thing.
