Kalidasa Was a Classical SanskritWriter, Widely Regarded as
the greatest poet and dramatist in the Sanskrit langague.
7. After Samudragupta the Gupta Empire was enlarged by
Chandragupta II. He transferred the capital from Pataliputra to
Ujjain. During this period, Chineese travellor Fa-Hsien visited
India. A large number of gold coins were in circulation during
the time of Samudragupta and Chandragupta II. These coins
are specimens of the artistic skills of that time. Kumaragupta
and Skandagupta were the successors of ChandraguptaII.
8. FA-HSIEN
Fa-Hsien visited India in the early fifth century. He was a
Chineese Buddhist monk who travelled by foot from China to
India.His journey is described in his important travelogue, A
Record of Buddhist Kingdoms, Being an account by the
Chineese monk Fa-Hsien of his travels in India and Ceylon in
search of the Buddhist Books of Discipline.
