walks 2.5 km/h.They meet in 2 hours. How fast is Joe walking?
Solution
let the speed of Joe = x km/h
distance traveled by Jill in 2 hrs = speed * time = (2.5)(2) = 5
distance traveled by Joe = 2x
since total distance traveled is equal to distance between them
5 + 2x = 11
2x = 6
x = 3
Joe is walking at the rate of 3 km /h
