Essay 2 Outline
Internet dating has taken the world by storm. It has both disappointed and amazed us. It has
revolutionized our modern society by shortening the distance between people far apart, and creating
a connection between people in different households. Internet Dating has greatly contributed to the
easiness of dating for all who use them. With the rise of dating apps and online websites, people are
able to access more and more potential mates than they could ever meet at work or in the
neighborhood before.
Unless you're single, you might not be familiar with dating apps such as Tinder or Grindr, where
users can quickly swipe through prospective dates. Even though these apps are made for adults
eighteen or older for both casual hookups or scouting out someone more suitable for a long–term
relationship, they're mostly used by teens and other younger generations. Witt Mentions in "Love
Me Tinder" that "Katherine liked that he was younger." Katherine's attraction to a younger man on a
dating site provides just the smallest of insights into the average ages of Tinder and Grindr users.
According to the Huffington Post, "Tinder co–founder Justin Mateen disclosed this stat in February
during a conversation with The Guardian about the app's changing demographics. "Early on, over 90
percent of our user base was aged between 18 and 24," Mateen said. "Today, that number is about 51
percent. 13–17 year–olds are now over 7 percent, 25–32 year–olds are about 32 percent, 35–44 is
about 6.5 percent and the remainder are older than 4." With such a great majority of kids using these
apps, It has changed the dating game greatly. The fact that kids are typically more tech savy than
older generations, this gives them much easier access and availability to these types of apps and
websites. However, The fact that kids ages 13–17 are on dating apps and websites is raising many
concerns.
With so many people out on the internet, and more specifically dating cites, you never know who
you may be talking to. That person may be an average joe just looking for a connection as well, or a
possible sex offender or anyone with bad intentions. According to an anonymous author from

Dating Vs Internet Dating
The internet has changed to a greater or lesser extent the way people interact with one another in
terms of social relationships. More so, it has altered the manner in which people find love. Before
the invention of the internet the traditional form of dating was dating in person or what has now
come to be known as offline dating. The use of internet as a preferred means of finding a partner has
become prevalent over the years (Hogan, Bernie & William 10). In other words, online dating is on
the rise and the majority of the population that use this means is the youth. It is therefore no doubt
that online dating has become socially acceptable in the twenty first century ((Fang 5). This is
because the youth are the majority users of the internet and also they are more likely to be looking
for partners in life. The various platforms that are used by singles looking for partners through
online dating are; dating websites, chat rooms as well as social networks such as Facebook (Hogan
et al. 16). This implies that people have now embraced the internet as a platform where one can find
a partner in addition to social places such as bars/clubs, churches, hobby groups as well as parties.
This essay argues that online dating is better than dating in person by providing advantages of online
dating which include; increased variety of singles who are romantically available, reduction of fear
of rejection, partners get to know each other well before meeting, boosts one confidence of

A Brief History of Courtship and Dating in America
A Brief History of Courtship and Dating in America, Part 1 [pic]by The Rev'd Skip Burzumato [pic]
Whenever possible, I love to use the word "courtship" in everyday conversation with young and old
alike.
It's one of those words with which most people are familiar, but have vastly differing opinions of
what it means. For many, courtship is an old–fashioned word. It summons visions of men wooing
women with small tokens of affection and asking their hand in marriage on bended knee. For social
scientists, studies of courtship usually look at the process of "mate selection." (Social scientists,
among whom I number myself from time to time, will never be accused of being romantics.)
For the purpose of this article the preparation for and proposal ... Show more content on

They knew what was "normal." Prior to the 20th century, "normal" was determined within families
and local communities, but now a "higher authority," with wide–spread circulation and readership,
began to form a national consciousness.
Thirdly, we see a change in sexual norms in the West. With the onset of the sexual revolution the
question arose, "Why would a man court and woo a woman when he could gain a chief benefit of
marriage, namely sexual gratification, for free with no commitment?" (Friendship "with benefits" is
a contemporary example.)
Closely related to this is the invention of birth control. There is too much that could be said here, so
I'll be brief. Simply put, with the onset of the widespread use of chemical and other means of birth
control, the language of procreation – of having children – was separated from the language of
marriage. As U. of Chicago ethicist Leon Kass argues in his chapter on courtship in Building a
Healthy Culture: Strategies for an American Renaissance, under the old system of courtship,
marriage and bringing a child into the world were inextricably linked. But no longer. With the ever
decreasing risk of pregnancy, having sex and being married were no longer tied together.
Fourthly, we find a change in the models and metaphors used to describe the home and family. Prior

Online Dating Online dating is one of the most over–hyped and probably one of the worst places to
find someone to have a romantic relationship with. But, with social networking becoming all the
rage, online dating has become a huge phenomenon that has caught trend nationwide. In todays
society it is considered the norm for human connections to be initiated by internet connections. We
live in a century of emails, text messages, and Facebook friending that has become established as a
real relationship bond. While connecting with friends, family, coworkers, etc. can be easily
completed by the use of the internet, while it is convenient and sometimes the best way, establishing
a romantic connection with someone through the internet seems a bit interpersonal and dangerous.
Judging by the massive amounts of dating apps and websites available, we are desperate to find "the
one", and fast. Dating online takes the intimacy out of getting to know someone and its just not
natural. Many people get lost in the idea that on this dating app could be their special one that they
will spend the rest of their life with but they forget that at the same time it presents a grave danger to
women and men alike. Through a profile you can only learn what that person wants you to know
and we have no choice to believe what they are saying is true. Like the MTV show Catfish, this is
not always the case. People use fake profiles all the time,

The Mobile Love Industry : An Analysis Of Sexuality
The Mobile Love Industry: An Analysis of Sexuality Through the employment of modern
technology and social media platforms, countless aspects of our everyday rituals, customs, and
behaviors, have been unquestionably redefined. No other area is more apparent than in matters of
love and sex. The Mobile Love Industry, a documentary short from VICE, explores this
phenomenon as it relates to various mobile apps.
Sexual scripts specify with whom people have sex, when and where they should have sex, what they
should do sexually, and why they should do sexual things (Laumann et al., 1994). Over the past
hundred years, there have been three distinct scripts guiding young men and women's intimate lives,
each emerging during a period of transition. The first script occurred during the calling era of the
first decade of the twentieth century. This would involve young men "calling" on young women at
their homes, with the intent to spend time with her and her family, especially her mother. Part I of
the dating era emerged shortly after. The young people wanted to go out on dates away from the
watchful eye of their parents. There were a few caveats that existed, however. Both men and women
refused to date a person who did not "rank". As a result, people went to great lengths to rate high on
the dating scale. The final script occurred during part II of the dating era during the mid–twentieth
century. This script involved "going steady." Men and women felt comfortable in their relationships

Title : Internet Dating: Should or Should Not? Stand : Should Not Specific purpose : To convince
my audience that internet dating brings lots of danger. In the world we live in today some people
rely on the internet in order to find love. But online dating isn't all that it's cracked up to be. In fact,
you should stay away from it. Dating online is not safe. Sure there are some dating sites that are
legitimate and a little less dangerous, but some people rely on facebook, myspace, and instant
messaging for dating which is just plain wrong. Not only is it unpersonal, but you can never tell who
you're really seeing. The picture you're looking at could be years old or be a different all together.
And if you finally decide to meet ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is so addictive. – So, in essence, it does something it does something for your ego that is very
false. We have seen how internet dating can be so addictive, and now let's take a look how it can
also rise almost all fake and false profile. People do not always tell you the truth. – People may give
you a photograph that is ten years old when they take the best photograph that they ever have, or a
touched up photograph which is not really them. – Not all sites require a photo, and even those that
do cannot guarantee that the photo is a real one. Clear signs that the photo may be a fake are strange
backgrounds that might indicate a stock image, photos that appear professionally taken (unless the
person is a model or actor) and photos that seem old rather than current. – Profiles can be false or
partially false as some people attempt to make themselves sound as appealing to others and take it
too extremes. Last but not least, the other disadvantage of internet dating is expensive fees.
Expensive fees. – While online dating may at first seem cheaper than "real world" dating (no need to
pay for drinks or cab rides), the truth is that most matchmaking sites charge a fee. – Some Internet
dating sites charge far too much money and some will not allow us to view the profiles of other
people until we become a member and pay the fees. – This fee may not be all inclusive, and extras
sometimes add up. Some websites

Penny Was A Girl And Her Parents Pride And Joy
Penny was a lovely girl and her parents pride and joy. She was loved by everyone in her small town
because not only was she beautiful to look at, but Penny was also very talented and extremely
intelligent. So everyone was puzzled when she, showed no interest in love or romantic relationships.
And though there were many suitors she rejected them all.
It wasn't just because she was picky, although she was. But Penny had a plan. For as long as she
could remember, she'd wanted to leave her small town to live in the "big" city and knew that she had
to make sure not to let herself become distracted or allow a boyfriend to interfere with those plans.
After years of hard work and dedication, Penny achieved her goal, she was accepted to a university
and graduated with honors, after that she started working at a firm and was working her way through
the ranks. But she still avoided love and rejected all who showed a romantic interest in her. At this
point her mother started to become concerned with her daughters love life. Though she was proud of
Penny for her achievements and her ambition, Penny's mom did not want her daughter to be lonely
or alone and she wanted to "get some grandkids" while she was still able to enjoy them. No matter
how she tried to explain things, Penny could not get her mother to understand that she was happy
with her life and her decision to be focused on her career and she did not feel like she was lacking

How to Tell That You Are in a Non–Date Kind of Date
In this modern world, it is somehow difficult to determine if you are on a romantic date or a non–
date date.
A lot of women have a hard time in defining if they are going out with a guy on a romantic way or if
the date that they are having is just a purely platonic date.
Sometimes, dates are actually a non–date, and if you are expecting to get swept off of your feet as
the night ends, then you are in for a huge disappointment.
A typical non–date situation is when that smart and hunky accountant in your office whom you have
been crushing on for as long as you remember invited you out for drinks only to realize that he
invited everyone in your department.
A group date where you do not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is, instead, a group partying at a new bar.
Moreover, if the group date is turning into an actual group party, then your chances for it to become
a romantic date is close to zero. Remember that a group date can still be a date if he singles you out
from the crowd and talks to you and will not leave you alone for the whole night.
It can still be a romantic date if he stays close to you the whole time and will not let any guy steal
your attention from him. But sadly, when you go out in groups, there is really little chance for you to
make him know that you are someone he can date romantically.
When He Tells You that You Are Going Out as Friends
Was there ever a time when your crush asked you to go out with him for coffee as friends? That
sucks big time right? However, the best and surest way to know that you are going out on a non–
date is when he tells you that you are only going out on a date as friends.
Remember that a non–date date is all face time with no commitment. Sometimes it is really difficult
to know if he is into you or not, but when he starts telling you out loud during your date how you
should finally meet "The One," it is definitely a clear sign that you are on a non–date date.
Another way to tell that you are having coffee in a non–romantic way is when he starts giving his
eye view on dating and

Dating And Relating In The Internet Age Summary
T. Sawchuk in his essay "Dating and Relating in the Internet Age" tells us about the psychological
need of gathering and enjoying information about the other person through social media. For
example – Facebook is the biggest social medium that helps to anonymously (most of the cases) find
out pictures, thoughts, friends and interests of other people. My reaction isn't as skeptical as the
previous one, but still, psycho–Facebook–addiction isn't really for me. I'm not interested in this topic
and as well I'm not addicted to any social media, especially Facebook. Situation, showed by the

Paper Pills: The Cure for Doctor Reefy
"Paper Pills" is a short story written by Sherwood Anderson in his most recognized book,
Winesburg, Ohio, which has several interrelated stories (Belasco 859). The story is about an older
physician, named Dr. Reefy, who is distanced from society, and only expresses his thoughts on
pieces of paper, which he stuffs into his pockets (Bort). Eventually, he meets a younger woman who
he marries and shares those crumbled pieces of paper with for a brief period before her death. The
story is recounted by an unknown narrator, which is the same narrator throughout the book–using
several instances of imagery and symbolism to describe Dr. Reefy's hands, truths, and his courtship
and relationship with the younger woman. The description of Dr. ... Show more content on

Therefore, once the papers–or thoughts–become hard and overflowing in Doctor Reefy's pocket they
become synonymous to the creation of a "pyramid of truth" (867). And once a "pyramid" is created,
Doctor Reefy destroys it (867). The manner in which he destroys the "pyramid" is when he dumps
the hardened paper balls out of his coat pocket on to the floor (867).
Symbolism and imagery is also used to describe the relationship Doctor Reefy has with his only
friend John Spaniard, "who owned a tree nursery" (867). The narrator says, "...in Doctor Reefy there
were the seeds of something very fine," which the seeds could be interpreted as thoughts since
Doctor Reefy's hands are described as "gnarled apples" (867). Furthermore, John's occupation could
have deeper meaning, and be construed as John being a tree since he is called a "sentimentalist" by
Doctor Reefy (857). And when he calls John a "sentimentalist" he means John has become someone
who "lives his life by" a truth, and, therefore, a grotesque as described in the aforementioned story
(862). Thus, when Doctor Reefy throws the hardened paper balls at John, and says, "'That is to
confound you, you blithering old sentimentalist,'" he is trying to suggest John detach himself from
whatever truth he has adopted.
Another relationship of Doctor Reefy's that also uses

The Censorship Of The Digital Age
Are people's information online truly private? Do people know that privacy is no longer guaranteed?
Technological updates in digital spaces make our private information easily accessible for anyone
who is looking for it. There have been plenty of instances of people's personal information being
hacked. When a person buys an item online or fills out a personal account, is their information safe?
The Ashley Madison hacking sandal was one of the biggest media controversies of 2015. The
hacking of the adult website leaked personal information of high profiled celebrities, politicians, and
athletes. Information such as credit card numbers, phone numbers, and addresses were leaked for
everyone to see. Hackers can obtain private information from any communication technology.
Privacy in the digital age is relevant because no one is safe online. Invasion of privacy is only
getting worse with new technology advances. The internet has millions of networks and websites
that require one's personal information. Each personal account holds a privacy setting that should
guarantee confidentiality but that is not always the case. The advances of technology leads to
situations that people are unprepared for such as hacking personal data. Some may believe their
information is secure online because companies are always improving security. However, society
will always be faced with individuals who will want to steal information. Hackers use private
information for monetary value and

Teenage Dating in the 1950s Essay examples
Teenage Dating in the 1950s
Teenagers in the 1950's are so iconic that, for some, they represent the last generation of innocence
before it is "lost" in the sixties. When asked to imagine this lost group, images of bobbysoxers,
letterman jackets, malt shops and sock hops come instantly to mind. Images like these are so classic,
they, for a number of people, are "as American as apple pie." They are produced and perpetuated by
the media, through films like Grease and Pleasantville and television shows like Happy Days, The
Donna Reed Show, and Leave It to Beaver. Because of these entertainment forums, these images
will continue to be a pop cultural symbol of the 1950's. After the second World War, teenagers

She then is given the option of accepting his call by letting him in or rejecting it by making up an
excuse as to why she cannot see him. Refreshments were often served (though not always), and the
entertainment was primarily piano playing in the parlor. But because the lower classes were not so
well–endowed so that they own pianos or even parlors, they started their own form of "courtship"
which soon became known as dating. This practice was soon picked up by the upper classes, and
from there it progressed into the middle class, with which it is still inherently associated today
(Bailey 17).
Calling and dating are so intrinsically different it is hard to imagine how the transition from one to
another was even made. Firstly, calling was practiced with the intention of finding a suitable
husband for a young lady; whereas, in dating, this was, and still is, not the primary goal. People date
because it is "enjoyable, pleasant, and valuable" (Merrill 62), and they thought that they could gain
rewarding experiences from it. In the fifties and surrounding decades, handbooks and other books
exploring relationships described dating as a fun activity in which teens are allowed to meet and
mingle with many members of the opposite sex. Besides, dating allowed young people to be with
each other without their parents interfering. Secondly,

Online Dating Vs. Internet Dating
Being brought up in a traditional family, where my parents will be married forty nine years next
year, it is hard for me to understand married people going frequenting online dating sites. I now
realize after Googling "married people online dating" that married people using online dating
services is not only a very common practice, there appear to be online dating service that target
married people looking for a date or more. Many married people are finding the temptation of online
dating irritable. On e website is stating that 150,000 married people join online dating sites each
month and these sites are doing there best to increase their member enrollment. What is it that
makes these sites so attractive? Experts say it is the anonymity of it all. Online you can be anybody
you want, you can be any age and you can look like anyone that you desire. In other words, you can
leave your true self behind and exist in a fantasy world for the time being. This fantasy world is very
appealing to a person that may be bored or experiencing problems in their real life relationship.
Married online dating is a way of leaving those problems behind, at least for the time being. You do
not have to sneak out and go to hotel. You perfect date is as close as your mouse and in most cases,
online dating is relatively easy to conceal, at least for a short time. Most people who participate in
online dating do not consider it cheating, because there was no touching involved. I guess it all

Historical Significance Of Mate Selection
Everyone who has ever lived, has an idea of certain things they would like to accomplish. For those
people who live in the United States, these accomplishment seem common: Earn an education, find
a mate, marry the mate, and have kids. Alongside these are the jobs, homes, cars, etc. However, one
of the hardest accomplishments that face the generations of today is the mate selection process. With
times that are changing and becoming fast–paced, the idea of individual sexuality, and the evolution
of social media, mate selection is a tough task. The goal of this (paper) is to identify the historical
significance of mate selection and how social media is affecting one's ability to select a mate (good

These parental arrangements have been more popular by way of the number of societies who
participate in mate selection processes. Surviving throughout time, the idea and concept of arranged
marriages have dealt with the test of time. It is only recent, claims Balswick and Balswick, mate
selection is and individual matter, only depending on the two individuals involved. Thus creating a
new idea and wave of mate selection. With this idea of individual selection of mate; it involves a
more romantic and pre–marital status. The idea of love and meeting suitable mate has been changing
over the years. Beginning with arranged marriages between two families' then pivoting to an idea of
working for the suitable mate (Jacob and Rachel), the idea of courtship and chivalry in the medieval
times, and now a romantic view on seeking and finding suitable mates. With the ever–changing idea
of the search, note each change is due, in large part, to the society/culture it is surrounded by. The
idea of romanticism playing part in the mate selection process is not new. Societies have been
practicing this idea, but in cooperation with its own "arrangements". Many families allowed the
arranged couple to "court" before "pulling the trigger" on the marriage. Romantic love searches are
more popularized by the western culture, mainly America.

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Online Dating
Every new beginning starts because some other beginning ended. Before the internet, one of the
ways communication was done was via hand written letters that would travel far and near through
messengers to get to its final destination, communication was only as fast as the messenger could
go, so to people living back in the day, it can be said that the radio, letters, and telegraphs were
social media platforms. Relationships were formed through mutual friends, at work places, in bars,
at school and even through newspaper ads. Nowadays technology has evolved and the internet has
become increasingly popular, things are so much different and means of communication has become
less stressful. Thousands of people all over the world can be accessed just by sitting on your couch
and browsing the internet and despite being relatively young, online dating has become one of the
most popular and profitable businesses on the internet. Online dating provides an easier way for
people to find their prospective soul mates, this can be done through websites or the different apps
that have been created solely for that purpose. This paper will start out by giving a brief overview of
the online dating industry, then we will look at the advantages and disadvantages of this form of
dating, and finally the paper will conclude on the demographic population that is most active with
online dating. From a historical perspective, online dating can be tracked back in the 90's when
computers were used to match people by having them fill out a questionnaire and using the
information and their photo to find potential partners. The only difference with that and modern day
is that you don't have to go to an agency to do this, you can log in and fill out these questionnaires
all by yourself, this gives room for individuals to take control of their dating lives and eventually
find a soul mate. Some of the dating apps that have been created for people to meet include Tinder
which is the most popular, Match, E harmony, plenty of fish, bumble, just to name a few. Dating
sites provide access to more potential partners than the traditional face to face method, and the
general public has become much more receptive and positive towards this form

Functionalist Perspective on Dating, Courting, and Other...
Dating, courting, and other pre–marriage arrangements are practices that are influenced by the time
period, social conditions and constructs, biology, cultural norms, and institutional structures that
surround people. Dating has changed a lot in the past century. In the 1920's to 1940's, dating
involved a more informal dating. For the first time there were no chaperones on dates between
males and females. The dates required no formal commitment to each other and there was more
freedom. Previously the community and church established the dating rules, but now peers institute
the rules. Instead of the man coming to the women's house, They went "out" where it required

To understand dating, courting, and other pre–marriage arrangements we must look at a particular
time and place to understand the ways in which a society works and therefore how the people in that
society go about activities like dating. In modern America, dating has emerged as an activity that is
not often regulated by adults as it once had been. There are many explanations for this change
including the change in lifestyle that industry and technological advances have brought about.
Sociologists point out that the idea of romantic love did not even exist prior to the industrial
revolution. Marriage was an institution that allowed a man and woman to enhance their chances of
survival and quality of life with one another. Romantic love as we now know it did not exist as a
concept. After the industrial revolution when people did not depend on each other as much to
survive, the idea of romantic love first appeared. After this time some feminists and sociologists
point out that marriage and motherhood was used to subjugate women to men and to keep them out
of the work force. Dating at a young age is characterized as fun and is done for companionship
rather than as a serious activity for the purpose of finding a lifelong mate. Group dating is a way in
which students have been able to move away from traditional, two–person dating which implies
intimacy to them. Doing things in groups saves

playing baseball. The man is said to reach "first base" if the woman accepts his proposal to go out

teens wanting to pursue a relationship should first consult their parents especially for girls. They

Online Dating And The Internet Essay
At this day in age, technology gives us the opportunity to complete countless tasks through the
internet. The internet allows us to obtain information within a matter of seconds, go shopping

Another popular thing the internet is used for is online dating. Online dating allows you to carefully
choose who you would like to interact with. You are provided with all sorts of filters that you can
use to determine what traits and qualities others possess before pursuing them. You are able to
search for characteristics that matter to you and you have the ability to easily filter out the people
who do not have what you are looking for. There are couples who were lucky enough to meet
through mutual friends, high school, church, co–workers, neighbors, bars, and even parties. But for
those less lucky ones who have yet to find a special someone through all of those social connections,

How College Dating Has Changed My Life
College dating has changed a lot since my parents went to school. Courtship and chivalry are dead,
or extremely hard to find, and a majority of college students are involved in the 'hookup culture.' "A
'hookup' is a nonromantic encounter with a friend or acquaintance that involves an unspecified
degree of sexual interaction," (Carpenter and DeLamater 129). When I first started college, I had a
very nice relationship that lasted about 3 months. When we both decided to just be friends, it
dawned on me that I could sleep with whomever I wanted to. During my second semester in college,
I more than doubled the amount of guys I slept with in high school and I know why I did it. I let
myself engage in hookup culture because I wanted to rebel against my parents, have some sense of
intimacy without commitment, experience new things, and it was so much fun to brag about with
my girlfriends. However, after a while I began to miss what I had during my first semester, someone
who actually cared about me and wanted to be with me for more than just sex. I often hear numerous
complaints in college about not being able to find a significant other. This new style of dating, or
hookup culture, lacks a sense of respect and doesn't allow for an emotional closeness with those
students find attractive. It encourages college students to suppress their emotions in order to gain
sexual intimacy and that wanting a committed relationship is a thing of the past. Why has courtship

Relationships 2.0: Dating And Relating In The Internet Age
"Relationships 2.0: Dating and Relating in the Internet Age" by Ted Sawchuck, is an article about
dating and Facebook. Facebook is a social media web site which throughout the year has become
very popular. In this specific site its members can keep in touch with friends and family all over the
world, and also meet new people and interact with the ones with similar interest via groups. Also,
users can send and receive messages, post text, pictures, videos, and links and share their
information. Ted Sawchuck explains how the process of dating is influenced by Facebook on his
campus at the University of Maryland. He describes the process as the following: you get the
person's name, look them up on Facebook, whether to continue or not depends on the information
that the person shared. He ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He continues to say that he sees what the girl values enough to show him through pictures, as well
as check the links she has posted because like this is another way in seeing who she is. He says after
looking her up on Facebook, his next step is to google her. He searches using her email address,
name, and/or nickname, which results in message boards, maybe blogs or a Flickr site which can
give him more details about his new attraction. "The dating process works well online initially, but
real connections are only formed by spending substantial time together in person." (Sawchuck,
2015, para 6) Online chats, or video chats are only a portion of the actual experience. Relationships
can be built or strengthen when spending time communicating online. Facebook can also give
someone a chance to cheat, one way of doing this is chatting online. When you are chatting online

Wise Tips Dating Single Moms Need to Know Before Introducing the Kids to the New Guy
Dating when you have children can be very exasperating. You don't only think about how to go on
with the date, you also think about what is going to be good for the children. After all, it is no longer
just about you and him alone. It's also whether or not the kids will be cool enough to like your guy
and vice versa. It is often worth any single parent's trouble to note what it is their children might be
thinking about the entire dating process. But it is also not to say that a single parent should just put
any hopes for a real romantic date to rest. At any rate, the idea of meeting someone else should not
be crippled by the fact that you have had kids who ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Slow down and do not make the mistake of forcing it out on the children. It is better to take it slow
and be successful later than to make haste and fail afterwards.
2. Reassure your children.
It is important to stress out to the children that they will only have one mom and one dad. No one
needs to replace anyone. This creates a win–win situation for everyone. The children will slowly
understand the role your new boyfriend will play in their lives and it should not include replacing
their daddy. It is good enough if your children like your new boyfriend so much to even recognize
him as their step dad and starts calling him "daddy". That's not so bad if that is what you want to
achieve at the end of the day. But you might want to avoid further hassle by confusing your child
eventually when things do not go in that direction. Just reassure your children about having one
mom and one dad.
3. Do not expect.
Consider this rule of thumb. You can't force anyone to like anyone. Asking your children to be nice
or to like someone is definitely going to spoil everything you have planned in mind. Allow everyone
to meet and form their own opinions.
4. Come in groups.
You might want to avoid going for uptight and formal meetings. This could potentially dismantle
any positive vibe that could exist if you go for friendly and less formal scenarios. Try some
gimmicks like having some BBQ party or a pool party. Introduce him as a friend and give the
children the chance

Online Dating And The Internet Essay
The Case
The internet has become very popular since 1990, and it plays an important role in everyone's life.
People like to connect with their friends, family and society through social media like Facebook,
Snapchat and Twitter. Many websites on the internet offer online dating or match making services.
Despite being a relatively young industry, online dating has already become one of the most
profitable types of business found on the internet. Online dating services now attract millions of
users every day, and the industry is making hundreds of millions of dollars each year. Online dating
provides an efficient way for people to meet with partners and to get to know them through e–mails
and chats.
Of the many online dating sites, PlentyofFish claims to have more dates, more relationships, and
more visits than any other dating site. PlentyofFish allows you to specify exactly which type of
relationship you're looking for, from a hookup, to friends, to casual dating, to a long–term
relationship, to marriage. The site matches you up based on a variety of factors, such as location,
interests, and even your browsing history. PlentyofFish also offers a personality test to better match
you with others. You can describe your personality in one word or phrase, and you can also search
for matches by personality type. On PlentyofFish you can chat for free, as well as send and receive
emails. You can even set the parameters for who can email you.

Is Dating Dead?
Dating is one of the many things in life that will help better prepare ourselves for what is to come in
the future. In being specific, marriage. When looking up the definition of "dating" it is defined as,
"Go out with (someone in whom one is romantically interested)". In this century young single adults
tend to identify dating as a form of hanging out, when in actuality they are two different things
(Hewett, D., 2013). At times it can be difficult to determine what is or isn't considered dating. That
in itself is much like a comparison between a pizza and a pie, sure they are the same shape and are
cut the same way but they taste entirely different. Being asked on an official date is far better than

Dating is a primary step used in the progression of likely relationships. The old cycle of dating, (first
dates, hand holding, kissing, making things official, etc.) has now accelerated so that all the steps
(and/or more) may be covered in a single night (Childley, J., & DeMont, J. (1995)). Back in the day,
couples were far more passionate about each other and were mainly focused on spending time
together. Nowadays it seems as if men are more prone to putting forth more effort into finding a
movie to watch on Netflix rather than composing an ambitious message to ask a woman out (Doyne,
S., 2013). Another problem we are facing nowadays is that we are expecting more and yet we are
settling for less. What we are lacking is the drive to follow through on going out. That happens
simply because saying, "Let's hang out!" is much

Traditional and Internet Dating Essay
Traditional and Internet Dating
At some point in our lives where we are searching for that special someone. The methods of going
about dating have changed quite dramatically over the years. Going out has grown from traditional
dating, to internet 'dating', to group dating.
Traditional Dating has changed over the years. In my generation the girls can ask the guys, there is
no telling where they might go on a date, or they might just hang out at home, which did not happen
as much 25 years ago. My generation's moral values are changing too: sex on the first date happens
more frequently now. Many Years ago a guy would go pick the girl up at her house, was introduced

They say internet connecting is safe, anonymous, less visually oriented, and gives people a chance
to share many views and ideas without investing large amounts of time, money, and emotions. Like
traditional dating, the variables are pretty much the same. The only thing that is different is the
approach and the ease at being able to find a large number of potential mates without actually dating
them first. Granted, some people did find true love via this medium, but I think that a lot of people
need to be smart enough to stick with dating real people instead of virtual personalities.
Group Dating has recently taken on new meaning. Group or speed Dating is not all about flirting;
however, it's about getting to know a set of new people quickly and efficiently. In general, focuses
on topics appropriate for a first date. It utilizes a round–robin format to help daters meet several
people one–on–one at the same event. Each date typically lasts ten minutes or less before you move
onto the next potential mate. You may not know in ten minutes or less if you want to marry the
person, but you can often tell if you at least want to see him or her again. Plus, if you know right

What Is The Theme Of Isang Tikbalang Ka Lang
Kristine Louise V. Moral

"Isang Tikbalang Ka Lang" By Eros Atalia is a story which provided a short narrative that explains
the unrevealed attitude of one of the variables in the story. Once, a tikbalang fell in love with a
woman which at the end, gave him a comprehension that makes him think of his unconsciousness
because of a possessive woman knowing him well, on the other hand, he doesn't know the actual
character of hers.
Specifically, there was tikbalang, who is an openhanded lover. Moreover, the loved one is the
attractive, engaging woman. They both have the capabilities to love, but in different ways and
principles. The duwende, as an extra variable, is described as an old, wealthy man which is a

There is a lot of lesson can be learned in this Atalio's story. Although tikbalang is known to be the
hopeless one, the purpose of the author in creating this character is to give advice and remind
people, both of the men and women. Maybe, the reason of the author in conveying the messages is:
first; to present the uniqueness and importance in the human history of the different ways of Filipino
courtships; to give lesson that love isn't about wealth; and of course, the importance and unlikeness
of the Philippine Mythology. I conclude that maybe there are really some other girls like the mortal

Online Dating Social Media
When it comes to dating certain individual never dealt with the awful feelings of unreciprocated
affection; either they have never been rejected or have never been disappointed after meeting a
person after another. As a result, others never had to experience turning away a suitor. As technology
evolves, our current lifestyle makes it incredibly challenging to meet people. The lack of time and
lack of self–assurance is roughly the reasons why individuals used the Internet as an alternative to
dating. In order to find their acquaintances, they use various social media platforms to engage in a
mass communication. Consequently, since the majority of people have access to the Internet, online
dating such as eHarmony is used for a variety of purposes: meeting new people, sharing an interest,

It has become today's method of communication, the wave of the future. The necessity to leave the

conducted more frequently from the home. Students will soon be able to interact with their teachers

The telephone cut off the absolute need for face–to face discussions, yet society thinks nothing of
this today. Rather the telephone is one of the most important forms of communication in our daily
lives. After the telephone came the television. Children would come home from school excited
because it was time for their favorite show. Parents were worried. Their children were no longer
playing with their neighborhood friends. The "Power Rangers" replaced Andy next door, Saturday
morning was for "The Smurfs" or "Saved By the Bell," not Jenny and Tammy down the street.
Television was 'rotting the brain,' it was 'replacing' socialization. Now the same can be said for
computers. Those same kids are racing home to the Internet. They are logging on to their favorite
chat rooms and talking to their friends from Australia or South Africa.
With the telephone there was still the ability to engage in personal conversations, but the value of
talking face–to–face was diminished. Television is an idle medium. There is no direct interaction,
rather children and adults sit and stare at a screen. The Internet brings back interaction, but at the
cost of intimacy. The person at the other end of the conversation is a screen, a typed sentence, a
random name. There is no voice, no human qualities. Nothing to indicate this is actually a living,
breathing being. The progression is there;

Online Dating And The Internet
In society today, you frequently see advertisements for online dating. Online dating is
communicating with others through the internet with the objective of beginning a romantic
relationship. You can join the online dating community through websites or apps. It is very common
for individuals to take part in this method of dating. While some experiences with the service
conclude with happy endings, you can't be guaranteed one. There are dangerous factors when it
comes to using online dating. The first online dating website was established in 1995. In the United
States 49,250,000 people have tried online dating (Statistic Brain Research Institute). While most
dating sites are for everyone, there are also different sites for people of specific ages, races, and
religions. Most of the time you are required to fill out a survey of questions. This is so the site can
evaluate your answers to find people they think you would be compatible with. You can then talk
online and also make plans to meet in person. People use these dating sites hoping to find true love.
It is true that online dating services can lead you to true love and happiness. However there are
many dangerous factors as well. One of those being people pretending to be someone they aren't.
Since this particular type of dating is online, people can pretend to be whoever they want to be. It is
very easy to be deceived when using online dating. Whether someone is using a fake profile picture

Art of Love
The Art of Love, written by Ovid, was a set of three books, the first being a guide or rule book on
how to "pick–up" women and the second book a rule book on how to keep the woman you have or
"caught" satisfied and interested in you. The third and final book that he wrote was written for
women on what to do to catch and keep a man, since he felt it was only fair for women to also be
"armed" when it comes to picking– up men. The rules that Ovid describes in The Art of Love are
similar to the rules that most people follow in the "cruising and catching" game because they are
effective and produce results, although not all the rules described in Ovid's book are still used, a

Comparing what he wrote to experiences I have had, I would say they are very similar because I
have gone to clubs with friends so that they could "cast their nets" and "catch" women. Being in a
relationship for five years and going, I am able to relate more to Ovid's book two which sets the
"rules" to keeping the women that one has "caught". I can relate more to that book because all the
rules that he explained, I have done. All of the rules that h went over, such as letting her win at
games, going to her whenever she needs you and if you have no transportation walk to where she is
no matter what the weather is like. The similarities and differences between the "ways of the hunt"
from now and then exist because throughout time, things have changed with society and how they
view sex. I believe that the similarities exist because men and women have not changed since the
time that he wrote the poem. The relationship between men and women has stayed the same
throughout time in which no matter what men and women are still "wired" the same way and
experience the same things every women or man will experience. An example of that would be from
book three in which he tells women to fake their orgasm if the man can't please them. That is an
excellent example because in today's time, women still fake orgasms to give their man a confidence

The Issue Of Internet Dating
You 're newly single (whether it be a divorce or breakup) and are looking for love. Now let 's say
that you 've ultimately decided to join one of those Internet dating sites. There are a number (and
growing by the minute it seems) so you have unlimited choices. I myself found my wife on one that
I would not dare mention. Others haven 't had as much success for one reason or the other. Which
Internet dating site you choose is entirely up to you. There have been countless horror stories
recounted here and there. Here are two safety tips (ones I consider crucial) to keeping yourself safe.
Rule number one: NEVER, EVER give out your personal information. I made the mistake one time
of giving out my phone number. When she first called, things seemed pretty normal. We had a lot in
common, made each other comfortable, and genuinely were attracted. So we met for dinner and I
kindly told her it wasn 't going to work. Obviously she took this the wrong way. Days later the
woman called and left a very nasty voice message. Mind you I sort of deserved it, but still she had
no right to do this. I called her back, and said not to call. Well she didn 't answer. Day after day she
would call, apologizing about how she 'd overreacted. This went on for two weeks (her calling every
day) and finally I had to put a block on my phone number. Lesson learned. There are other criteria,
which make up personal information such as a home address. I have never done this. But have heard

The appropriate age to start dating is always a debate. People have diverse views on the age which

feelings seriously and be very sensitive when dealing with them. Moms and dads could do a number
of things to help their child through heartbreak. First, they could acknowledge that their child is in
pain and they will be happy again. Second, they should let their child feel sad and to cry about their

When the child is ready to socialize, they will without hesitation. Lastly, the parent should share a

Argumentative Essay On Online Dating
Over the past decade, online dating popularity has increase drastically. Even though the younger
generation of society is in the transition from traditional to modern dating, people of all ages are
beginning to test the modern way of communicating: online dating. Many people are curious if
online dating is the best way to search for a partner in today's society. Is online dating actually the
most successful way to find "the one"? Many people do not feel comfortable admitting that they
participate in online dating simple because they are unsure of how society will judge them. Society
is gradually becoming aware of the idea and accepting the newest form of dating and courting. How
successful is this modern dating and how does it compare to traditional dating techniques? The
world is such an enormous place, making traditional dating difficult to meet the number of people
which online dating sites provide (Nicholson, 2014). Individuals may access partners with specific
interests that may include lifestyle, personality, and orientation (Nicholson, 2014). A variety of
dating sites offer matching tests, which theoretically help connect two individuals quicker than if
they searched with the traditional method (Nicholson, 2014). People realize how effortless it is to
search for a partner and immediately fall in love with the process. Online dating provides the
opportunity for individuals to gain more personal information about the person prior to meeting face

Online dating is more and more convenient for a lot of people with the development of technology.

age of the internet has quietly arrived. I read two articles which about online dating with the

stronger than "You Can't Find Real Love Online" which is written by Zaron Burnett III, because she

"Hooking up" is a no–strings–attached way that people interact. It is seen as appealing because it
gives pleasure, it is cheaper than dating, and it has little to no long–term commitment. Some of the
disadvantages of hooking up are, women are often shamed and called inappropriate words if they
engage in it. Also, "hooking–up" will most likely lead to the couple not knowing much about each
other, which would hinder formation of a real relationship. It is also mentioned in the text that
woman tend not to be as satisfied from these encounters as men are. Personally, I am of the opinion
that men and woman should date for a few a while and get to know each other well before doing

Online Dating: The Negative Side of Finding Significant Others Over the Internet Before the birth
of technology and social media, people approached their significant others face–to face. They
encountered their future wives or husbands at schools, malls, markets, libraries or at any physical
places. Everyone came to know others by recognizing their real faces, hearing their real voice, and
understanding their real personalities. However, as the trend of using technological devices and

Furthermore, cyber security is a huge problem with online dating that users should be considered.
According to Danielle Couch, Pranee Liamputtong, and Marian Pitts, public health researchers at La
Trobe University, people may approach strangers who have criminal or fake backgrounds, which
exposes them to rape, violent behavior, or physical as well as emotional abuse (Couch,
Liamputtong, and Pitts). Additionally, a professor in the Department of Communication at Stanford
University, Jeffrey Hancock, states that social media also has the capability to enhance self–
presentation by editing photos and personal information for the purpose of creating a better version
of individuals as far as their physical appearances, personalities and their personal life (Hancock and
Toma 367). Thus, social media is not a perfect intermediary to seek for romantic partners among
adults because there is a high risk of exposing individuals to dangerous situations as well as meeting
mismatched partners whose online and real–life personal profiles do not correspond to each other.
Obviously, online dating not only saves people time, but it also saves large amount of individuals'
financial resource. In the article "Online Dating Doesn 't Just Save You Time, It Saves You at Least

In all aspects of life, you will form relationships with others that may range from romantic to
platonic. Today, you see all sorts of relationship types. I use to only see heterosexual couples as
"normal." After looking into other relationship types in greater depth, I have begun to see that
homosexual relationships may be just as "normal." I think societal norms plays a strong role in
telling us what being "normal" is, and if you don't fit into the tight little box, then there's something
wrong with you. Why is it that when we see heterosexual people kiss people say are in awe, but if
you see homosexuals kiss, people are in disgust? I think it has a lot to do with social media's
influence on what is "right and wrong." Social media creates ... Show more content on

Try to imagine feeling like your whole life is wrong. How would you feel? In the movie "Trans,"
transgender people revealed the hardship that they experience day to day. Most transgender people
feel like they were put in the wrong body, and they have known about it since they were very young.
They may have trouble finding something to identify with in fear of being an outcast. I think
transgender people are some of the bravest people in the world. They are able to transform into the
person they know they are. It disgusts me how many people hate on them. Just because someone is
transgendered does not mean there is something wrong with them. These people are tortured for
showing their true identity. They are labeled as "weird" or "wrong," when they are actually the same
as you and me. I think it is unethical to ask someone to change who they are, so why can you ask
someone who is transgender to pretend to feel comfortable in their body if they know they are
supposed to be the opposite gender? Transgendered people should not be shunned by society for
their bravery to speak up and create a new life for themselves. It is not your business or my own. It
is only the person who wants to change. As a society, we should embrace them because change is
vulnerable. We should be proud of them and we should not hate one them. Everyone truly deserves
to feel accepted. The movie "The Mask You Live In" has shown me that we should not ever
discriminate against people just because they may be different. Men in particular get a lot of
discrimination in this movie. We all define masculinity differently. I think of superman or prince
charming when I think of a man. However, other people see other versions of being a man. We
should not put so much pressure on boys to "become a man" because that will create stress on their
development. Why is it only ok for men to show their emotions when they are drinking alcohol?
They should be

Outline Of Internet Dating: The Pros and Cons

  • 1. Outline Of Internet Dating Matthew Zukoski France English 1A October 4th, 2017 Essay 2 Outline Internet dating has taken the world by storm. It has both disappointed and amazed us. It has revolutionized our modern society by shortening the distance between people far apart, and creating a connection between people in different households. Internet Dating has greatly contributed to the easiness of dating for all who use them. With the rise of dating apps and online websites, people are able to access more and more potential mates than they could ever meet at work or in the neighborhood before. Unless you're single, you might not be familiar with dating apps such as Tinder or Grindr, where users can quickly swipe through prospective dates. Even though these apps are made for adults eighteen or older for both casual hookups or scouting out someone more suitable for a long–term relationship, they're mostly used by teens and other younger generations. Witt Mentions in "Love Me Tinder" that "Katherine liked that he was younger." Katherine's attraction to a younger man on a dating site provides just the smallest of insights into the average ages of Tinder and Grindr users. According to the Huffington Post, "Tinder co–founder Justin Mateen disclosed this stat in February during a conversation with The Guardian about the app's changing demographics. "Early on, over 90 percent of our user base was aged between 18 and 24," Mateen said. "Today, that number is about 51 percent. 13–17 year–olds are now over 7 percent, 25–32 year–olds are about 32 percent, 35–44 is about 6.5 percent and the remainder are older than 4." With such a great majority of kids using these apps, It has changed the dating game greatly. The fact that kids are typically more tech savy than older generations, this gives them much easier access and availability to these types of apps and websites. However, The fact that kids ages 13–17 are on dating apps and websites is raising many concerns. With so many people out on the internet, and more specifically dating cites, you never know who you may be talking to. That person may be an average joe just looking for a connection as well, or a possible sex offender or anyone with bad intentions. According to an anonymous author from ... • 2. Dating Vs Internet Dating The internet has changed to a greater or lesser extent the way people interact with one another in terms of social relationships. More so, it has altered the manner in which people find love. Before the invention of the internet the traditional form of dating was dating in person or what has now come to be known as offline dating. The use of internet as a preferred means of finding a partner has become prevalent over the years (Hogan, Bernie & William 10). In other words, online dating is on the rise and the majority of the population that use this means is the youth. It is therefore no doubt that online dating has become socially acceptable in the twenty first century ((Fang 5). This is because the youth are the majority users of the internet and also they are more likely to be looking for partners in life. The various platforms that are used by singles looking for partners through online dating are; dating websites, chat rooms as well as social networks such as Facebook (Hogan et al. 16). This implies that people have now embraced the internet as a platform where one can find a partner in addition to social places such as bars/clubs, churches, hobby groups as well as parties. This essay argues that online dating is better than dating in person by providing advantages of online dating which include; increased variety of singles who are romantically available, reduction of fear of rejection, partners get to know each other well before meeting, boosts one confidence of ... • 3. A Brief History of Courtship and Dating in America A Brief History of Courtship and Dating in America, Part 1 [pic]by The Rev'd Skip Burzumato [pic] Whenever possible, I love to use the word "courtship" in everyday conversation with young and old alike. It's one of those words with which most people are familiar, but have vastly differing opinions of what it means. For many, courtship is an old–fashioned word. It summons visions of men wooing women with small tokens of affection and asking their hand in marriage on bended knee. For social scientists, studies of courtship usually look at the process of "mate selection." (Social scientists, among whom I number myself from time to time, will never be accused of being romantics.) For the purpose of this article the preparation for and proposal ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They knew what was "normal." Prior to the 20th century, "normal" was determined within families and local communities, but now a "higher authority," with wide–spread circulation and readership, began to form a national consciousness. Thirdly, we see a change in sexual norms in the West. With the onset of the sexual revolution the question arose, "Why would a man court and woo a woman when he could gain a chief benefit of marriage, namely sexual gratification, for free with no commitment?" (Friendship "with benefits" is a contemporary example.) Closely related to this is the invention of birth control. There is too much that could be said here, so I'll be brief. Simply put, with the onset of the widespread use of chemical and other means of birth control, the language of procreation – of having children – was separated from the language of marriage. As U. of Chicago ethicist Leon Kass argues in his chapter on courtship in Building a Healthy Culture: Strategies for an American Renaissance, under the old system of courtship, marriage and bringing a child into the world were inextricably linked. But no longer. With the ever decreasing risk of pregnancy, having sex and being married were no longer tied together. Fourthly, we find a change in the models and metaphors used to describe the home and family. Prior ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Online Dating Vs. Internet Jessica Gardner Professor Minnis English 1D March 9, 2015 Online Dating Online dating is one of the most over–hyped and probably one of the worst places to find someone to have a romantic relationship with. But, with social networking becoming all the rage, online dating has become a huge phenomenon that has caught trend nationwide. In todays society it is considered the norm for human connections to be initiated by internet connections. We live in a century of emails, text messages, and Facebook friending that has become established as a real relationship bond. While connecting with friends, family, coworkers, etc. can be easily completed by the use of the internet, while it is convenient and sometimes the best way, establishing a romantic connection with someone through the internet seems a bit interpersonal and dangerous. Judging by the massive amounts of dating apps and websites available, we are desperate to find "the one", and fast. Dating online takes the intimacy out of getting to know someone and its just not natural. Many people get lost in the idea that on this dating app could be their special one that they will spend the rest of their life with but they forget that at the same time it presents a grave danger to women and men alike. Through a profile you can only learn what that person wants you to know and we have no choice to believe what they are saying is true. Like the MTV show Catfish, this is not always the case. People use fake profiles all the time, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Mobile Love Industry : An Analysis Of Sexuality The Mobile Love Industry: An Analysis of Sexuality Through the employment of modern technology and social media platforms, countless aspects of our everyday rituals, customs, and behaviors, have been unquestionably redefined. No other area is more apparent than in matters of love and sex. The Mobile Love Industry, a documentary short from VICE, explores this phenomenon as it relates to various mobile apps. Sexual scripts specify with whom people have sex, when and where they should have sex, what they should do sexually, and why they should do sexual things (Laumann et al., 1994). Over the past hundred years, there have been three distinct scripts guiding young men and women's intimate lives, each emerging during a period of transition. The first script occurred during the calling era of the first decade of the twentieth century. This would involve young men "calling" on young women at their homes, with the intent to spend time with her and her family, especially her mother. Part I of the dating era emerged shortly after. The young people wanted to go out on dates away from the watchful eye of their parents. There were a few caveats that existed, however. Both men and women refused to date a person who did not "rank". As a result, people went to great lengths to rate high on the dating scale. The final script occurred during part II of the dating era during the mid–twentieth century. This script involved "going steady." Men and women felt comfortable in their relationships ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Internet Dating Essay Title : Internet Dating: Should or Should Not? Stand : Should Not Specific purpose : To convince my audience that internet dating brings lots of danger. In the world we live in today some people rely on the internet in order to find love. But online dating isn't all that it's cracked up to be. In fact, you should stay away from it. Dating online is not safe. Sure there are some dating sites that are legitimate and a little less dangerous, but some people rely on facebook, myspace, and instant messaging for dating which is just plain wrong. Not only is it unpersonal, but you can never tell who you're really seeing. The picture you're looking at could be years old or be a different all together. And if you finally decide to meet ... We have seen how internet dating can be so addictive, and now let's take a look how it can also rise almost all fake and false profile. People do not always tell you the truth. – People may give you a photograph that is ten years old when they take the best photograph that they ever have, or a touched up photograph which is not really them. – Not all sites require a photo, and even those that do cannot guarantee that the photo is a real one. Clear signs that the photo may be a fake are strange backgrounds that might indicate a stock image, photos that appear professionally taken (unless the person is a model or actor) and photos that seem old rather than current. – Profiles can be false or partially false as some people attempt to make themselves sound as appealing to others and take it too extremes. She was loved by everyone in her small town because not only was she beautiful to look at, but Penny was also very talented and extremely intelligent. So everyone was puzzled when she, showed no interest in love or romantic relationships. And though there were many suitors she rejected them all. It wasn't just because she was picky, although she was. But Penny had a plan. For as long as she could remember, she'd wanted to leave her small town to live in the "big" city and knew that she had to make sure not to let herself become distracted or allow a boyfriend to interfere with those plans. After years of hard work and dedication, Penny achieved her goal, she was accepted to a university and graduated with honors, after that she started working at a firm and was working her way through the ranks. But she still avoided love and rejected all who showed a romantic interest in her. At this point her mother started to become concerned with her daughters love life. Though she was proud of Penny for her achievements and her ambition, Penny's mom did not want her daughter to be lonely or alone and she wanted to "get some grandkids" while she was still able to enjoy them. No matter how she tried to explain things, Penny could not get her mother to understand that she was happy with her life and her decision to be focused on her career and she did not feel like she was lacking anything in her life because she was not married or ... How to Tell That You Are in a Non–Date Kind of Date In this modern world, it is somehow difficult to determine if you are on a romantic date or a non– date date. A lot of women have a hard time in defining if they are going out with a guy on a romantic way or if the date that they are having is just a purely platonic date. Sometimes, dates are actually a non–date, and if you are expecting to get swept off of your feet as the night ends, then you are in for a huge disappointment. A typical non–date situation is when that smart and hunky accountant in your office whom you have been crushing on for as long as you remember invited you out for drinks only to realize that he invited everyone in your department. It can still be a romantic date if he stays close to you the whole time and will not let any guy steal your attention from him. But sadly, when you go out in groups, there is really little chance for you to make him know that you are someone he can date romantically. When He Tells You that You Are Going Out as Friends Was there ever a time when your crush asked you to go out with him for coffee as friends? That sucks big time right? However, the best and surest way to know that you are going out on a non– date is when he tells you that you are only going out on a date as friends. Remember that a non–date date is all face time with no commitment. Sometimes it is really difficult to know if he is into you or not, but when he starts telling you out loud during your date how you should finally meet "The One," it is definitely a clear sign that you are on a non–date date. Paper Pills: The Cure for Doctor Reefy "Paper Pills" is a short story written by Sherwood Anderson in his most recognized book, Winesburg, Ohio, which has several interrelated stories (Belasco 859). The story is about an older physician, named Dr. Reefy, who is distanced from society, and only expresses his thoughts on pieces of paper, which he stuffs into his pockets (Bort). Eventually, he meets a younger woman who he marries and shares those crumbled pieces of paper with for a brief period before her death. The story is recounted by an unknown narrator, which is the same narrator throughout the book–using several instances of imagery and symbolism to describe Dr. Reefy's hands, truths, and his courtship and relationship with the younger woman. Therefore, once the papers–or thoughts–become hard and overflowing in Doctor Reefy's pocket they become synonymous to the creation of a "pyramid of truth" (867). And once a "pyramid" is created, Doctor Reefy destroys it (867). The manner in which he destroys the "pyramid" is when he dumps the hardened paper balls out of his coat pocket on to the floor (867). Symbolism and imagery is also used to describe the relationship Doctor Reefy has with his only friend John Spaniard, "who owned a tree nursery" (867). The narrator says, "...in Doctor Reefy there were the seeds of something very fine," which the seeds could be interpreted as thoughts since Doctor Reefy's hands are described as "gnarled apples" (867). Furthermore, John's occupation could have deeper meaning, and be construed as John being a tree since he is called a "sentimentalist" by Doctor Reefy (857). And when he calls John a "sentimentalist" he means John has become someone who "lives his life by" a truth, and, therefore, a grotesque as described in the aforementioned story (862). Thus, when Doctor Reefy throws the hardened paper balls at John, and says, "'That is to confound you, you blithering old sentimentalist,'" he is trying to suggest John detach himself from whatever truth he has adopted. In modern America, dating has emerged as an activity that is not often regulated by adults as it once had been. There are many explanations for this change including the change in lifestyle that industry and technological advances have brought about. Marriage was an institution that allowed a man and woman to enhance their chances of survival and quality of life with one another. Romantic love as we now know it did not exist as a concept. After the industrial revolution when people did not depend on each other as much to survive, the idea of romantic love first appeared. After this time some feminists and sociologists point out that marriage and motherhood was used to subjugate women to men and to keep them out of the work force. When I first started college, I had a very nice relationship that lasted about 3 months. When we both decided to just be friends, it dawned on me that I could sleep with whomever I wanted to. Moral ABM 11 "Isang Tikbalang Ka Lang" By Eros Atalia is a story which provided a short narrative that explains the unrevealed attitude of one of the variables in the story. Once, a tikbalang fell in love with a woman which at the end, gave him a comprehension that makes him think of his unconsciousness because of a possessive woman knowing him well, on the other hand, he doesn't know the actual character of hers. Specifically, there was tikbalang, who is an openhanded lover. Moreover, the loved one is the attractive, engaging woman. Although tikbalang is known to be the hopeless one, the purpose of the author in creating this character is to give advice and remind people, both of the men and women. Maybe, the reason of the author in conveying the messages is: first; to present the uniqueness and importance in the human history of the different ways of Filipino courtships; to give lesson that love isn't about wealth; and of course, the importance and unlikeness of the Philippine Mythology. Online Dating Social Media When it comes to dating certain individual never dealt with the awful feelings of unreciprocated affection; either they have never been rejected or have never been disappointed after meeting a person after another. As a result, others never had to experience turning away a suitor. As technology evolves, our current lifestyle makes it incredibly challenging to meet people. The lack of time and lack of self–assurance is roughly the reasons why individuals used the Internet as an alternative to dating. In order to find their acquaintances, they use various social media platforms to engage in a mass communication. Consequently, since the majority of people have access to the Internet, online dating such as eHarmony is used for a variety of purposes: meeting new people, sharing an interest, exchanging information, among others. Students will soon be able to interact with their teachers and fellow students while sitting in their bedrooms. The Internet will overtake all forms of personal interaction, and it stands to reason that this includes dating. The telephone cut off the absolute need for face–to face discussions, yet society thinks nothing of this today. Rather the telephone is one of the most important forms of communication in our daily lives. After the telephone came the television. Children would come home from school excited because it was time for their favorite show. Parents were worried. Their children were no longer playing with their neighborhood friends. The "Power Rangers" replaced Andy next door, Saturday morning was for "The Smurfs" or "Saved By the Bell," not Jenny and Tammy down the street. Television was 'rotting the brain,' it was 'replacing' socialization. Now the same can be said for computers. Those same kids are racing home to the Internet. They are logging on to their favorite chat rooms and talking to their friends from Australia or South Africa. With the telephone there was still the ability to engage in personal conversations, but the value of talking face–to–face was diminished. Television is an idle medium. There is no direct interaction, rather children and adults sit and stare at a screen. The Internet brings back interaction, but at the cost of intimacy. The person at the other end of the conversation is a screen, a typed sentence, a random name. There is no voice, no human qualities. Nothing to indicate this is actually a living, breathing being. Art of Love The Art of Love, written by Ovid, was a set of three books, the first being a guide or rule book on how to "pick–up" women and the second book a rule book on how to keep the woman you have or "caught" satisfied and interested in you. The third and final book that he wrote was written for women on what to do to catch and keep a man, since he felt it was only fair for women to also be "armed" when it comes to picking– up men. The rules that Ovid describes in The Art of Love are similar to the rules that most people follow in the "cruising and catching" game because they are effective and produce results, although not all the rules described in Ovid's book are still used, a great majority of them are and have not changed after so many years. ... Comparing what he wrote to experiences I have had, I would say they are very similar because I have gone to clubs with friends so that they could "cast their nets" and "catch" women. Being in a relationship for five years and going, I am able to relate more to Ovid's book two which sets the "rules" to keeping the women that one has "caught". I can relate more to that book because all the rules that he explained, I have done. All of the rules that h went over, such as letting her win at games, going to her whenever she needs you and if you have no transportation walk to where she is no matter what the weather is like. The similarities and differences between the "ways of the hunt" from now and then exist because throughout time, things have changed with society and how they view sex. I believe that the similarities exist because men and women have not changed since the time that he wrote the poem. The relationship between men and women has stayed the same throughout time in which no matter what men and women are still "wired" the same way and experience the same things every women or man will experience. An example of that would be from book three in which he tells women to fake their orgasm if the man can't please them. That is an excellent example because in today's time, women still fake orgasms to give their man a confidence boost and make ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Now let 's say that you 've ultimately decided to join one of those Internet dating sites. There are a number (and growing by the minute it seems) so you have unlimited choices. I myself found my wife on one that I would not dare mention. Others haven 't had as much success for one reason or the other. Which Internet dating site you choose is entirely up to you. There have been countless horror stories recounted here and there. Here are two safety tips (ones I consider crucial) to keeping yourself safe. Rule number one: NEVER, EVER give out your personal information. I made the mistake one time of giving out my phone number. When she first called, things seemed pretty normal. We had a lot in common, made each other comfortable, and genuinely were attracted. So we met for dinner and I kindly told her it wasn 't going to work. Obviously she took this the wrong way. Days later the woman called and left a very nasty voice message. Mind you I sort of deserved it, but still she had no right to do this. I called her back, and said not to call. Well she didn 't answer. Day after day she would call, apologizing about how she 'd overreacted. This went on for two weeks (her calling every day) and finally I had to put a block on my phone number. Lesson learned. There are other criteria, which make up personal information such as a home address. I have never done this. But have heard from others who ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Additionally, a professor in the Department of Communication at Stanford University, Jeffrey Hancock, states that social media also has the capability to enhance self– presentation by editing photos and personal information for the purpose of creating a better version of individuals as far as their physical appearances, personalities and their personal life (Hancock and Toma 367). Most transgender people feel like they were put in the wrong body, and they have known about it since they were very young. They may have trouble finding something to identify with in fear of being an outcast. I think transgender people are some of the bravest people in the world. They are able to transform into the person they know they are. It disgusts me how many people hate on them. Just because someone is transgendered does not mean there is something wrong with them. These people are tortured for showing their true identity. They are labeled as "weird" or "wrong," when they are actually the same as you and me. I think it is unethical to ask someone to change who they are, so why can you ask someone who is transgender to pretend to feel comfortable in their body if they know they are supposed to be the opposite gender? Transgendered people should not be shunned by society for their bravery to speak up and create a new life for themselves. It is not your business or my own. It is only the person who wants to change.
