Question 3 - What have you learnt about technologies from constructing your product?
1. Question 3: What have you
learnt about technologies from
constructing your product?
2. The different technologies I've used
are:
• Indesign
• Photoshop
• Camera
• Blogger
• PowerPoint
• Slideshare
• Prezzi
3. Indesign
On Indesign I learnt how to make a
magazine from scratch and how real it I
can make it look compared to a real
magazine. I also learnt that you could use
other programs as well as Indesign at the
same time. For example i could edit
pictures on Photoshop and place them on
to Indesign as well as making tittles for the
magazine on PowerPoint and placing
them on Indesign.
4. Photoshop:
I learnt how to remove the background from a
picture on Photoshop instead of just cropping
out as much of the background as possible
which was helpful for my magazine because
it made it look more real. I also learnt how to
cover spots, bags under the eyes etc with it
still looking natural and how to add things to
my model like lip colour but making the colour
of her lips the exact same colour as the top
she is wearing which added effect to the
picture as it made her look more like a real
model as her face was perfect and her lips
the same colours as something else in her
outfit.
5. Camera
I learnt how to use a professional camera and
the correct equipment for professional
photographs. I had never used a proper
camera before taking the pictures for my
magazine, only digital cameras so i learnt
how to use the basics including flash, light
changes. I also learnt how to use the
equipment that effect the lighting and where
and how they should be placed and the effect
it has on the look of the pictures, for example
if I placed them right the models face looked
brighter and I then didn't need to edit the
brightness as much on Photoshop.
6. Blogger
Blogger taught me how to be able to have
everything in one neat and organised place. It
also taught me that people from all over the
world can see my posts and I can see there's
and they can also comment as well. Blog
posts also come up in the Google search
engine when you type something in that
relates to the blog post or picture which I
didn't realize happened until I saw it on
Google from another student studying media.
7. PowerPoint
I used mainly PowerPoint word art for the titles
for my magazine. However before using
PowerPoint for my magazine I didn't know
you could have the word art different colours
on the outside and the inside. I also learnt
how to change the weight of the word art.
This was particularly good when I wanted the
same colour words but wanted one title to
look more important than the other so I made
the weight larger of the one that I wanted to
stand out more.
8. SlideShare
SlideShare taught me the same sort of
things blogger did. It taught me that I could
upload presentations and anyone could
view them and i could view there's. This
also helped when doing my magazine
because there was examples of
presentations on SlideShare that I looked
at to give me inspiration and help me have
a better idea of what to do.
9. Prezzi
Prezzi taught me how to do a neat and
different presentation. It was another
website, like SlideShare and blogger that I
had never used before starting my
magazine. I learnt about the different
presentation styles and how many things
you can do with Prezzi. Prezzi was easy to
use which surprised me as it looked
complicated when I started using it.
