Braydon Vaughan wrote a final reflection on the importance of the 5 C's of writing in the business world based on experiences in a new job and internship. Specifically, sending properly formatted emails and ensuring clarity and correctness. Outlining was also deemed important for organizing information learned. Important topics from subsequent chapters included utilizing workplace technology like instant messaging, writing for global audiences, properly formatting reports and progress reports, and developing skills for meetings, presentations, and dealing with presentation anxiety.
2. The 5 C’s of writing are extremely important in the
business world as I've learned in my new job
Specifically confirming that inter-office memos and
emails are properly written and formatted to show
professionalism.
For example recently I had to send an email out to
multiple highly placed recipients and had my immediate
supervisor QA (Quality Assurance) check my email to
confirm its clarity and correctness.
THE 5 C’S
3. Also Outlining can be considered extremely important in the business world
For example, in my newly started internship I had to sit down with my direct supervisor
and learn the information technology programs and take notes and outline information in
a readable format for myself. If I had not learned about proper outlining techniques I
could be drowning in useless bits of information on tons of different papers.

4. Some of the most important parts of chapter 2 include :
Utilizing blogs, forums, and emails in a professional organizational
setting
Use of an instant messaging system as I have been newly
introduced to one in my newly started internship
Leaving proper voicemails as I work in an Information Technology
department answering calls from customers, as well as from my
fellow colleagues.
CHAPTER 2
WORKPLACE
TECHNOLOGY
5. As previously stated on the midterm, it was once again difficult for me to find
anything new in the Technology chapter of this book
I ended up carefully rereading the entire chapter and discovered new information under
“Writing for a Global Audience” on page 67. I will now be writing emails to customers in
India and other European countries for which I need to be mindful of things such as clock
times, and measurements.

6. Some of the most important parts of chapter 5 include :
Reports that I may need to compose and send to my supervisor, I
now know how to properly format and write them to ensure
professionalism.
In my internship I more than likely will not need to create any
proposals, but I know that in the future I may need the skills
associated with writing proposals. Especially if I hope to be in any
sort of management level position.
CHAPTER 5
DOCUMENTS AND
ELEMENTS
7. The most important type of report for me to learn about would be:
Progress report
This report is necessary for me to report to my immediate supervisor, and department manager on
my progress so far in my internship. Including number of work orders and projects complete, as well
as probably letting them know what I’ve been learning as the point of my internship is to gain as
much knowledge as possible.

8. Some of the most important parts of chapter 8 include :
Learning about listening skills, as well as meeting planning and presentation skills
This chapter also covers note taking which is a necessary skill during school as well as
workplace seminars
The most important thing from this chapter was most likely dealing with presentation
anxiety on page 250
CHAPTER 8
PRESENTATIONS AND
MEETINGS
9. A useful and interesting thing learned during this chapter was planning and
organizing meetings.
Specifically “Dealing with conflict” on page 239, and “Minutes of Meetings” taking on
page 240 as I have always heard of meeting minutes while working at my previous job but
never really known about them.

10. These chapters have most important to me in the form of learning about
presentations as I usually have issues presenting, my voice stutters and my
hand shakes.
I learned from chapter 8 that the best way to deal with this is to study my
presentation, and know the material extremely well to reduce anxiety issues as stated on
page 250, chapter 8
