1. What kind of media institution
might distribute your media
product and why?
2. What is distribution ?
Distribution is the marketing of a film; involving the method in which the film is
displayed to an audience for viewing, either publically (cinema, theatre) or at
home (DVD, video, on demand, downloads and television programs, broadcast
syndication and Blu-ray. The distribution sector of the film industry is the part
that works to connect every new film with the largest possible audience.
Distribution companies
- 20th Century Fox
- PIXAR
- Metrodome
3. Are distributors likely to be interested
in your film?
Metrodome is a distribution company that has previously released a
film that is of a similar background to our own, therefore Metrodome
is the company that we feel would be interested in releasing our film.
Their previously released film ‘Shifty’ is also is British, Low budget
film.
4. Does the film appeal to the UK or
does it have a wider appeal?
I think the audience would be UK and British based only, because it is
a low budget film that was produced and directed in the UK. The film
is a thriller that would mainly appeal to teenagers and those of the
ages 15-23.
5. Possible marketing strategies
We are an independent company therefore our marketing strategies would include
promoting our film using social network sites such as, facebook and twitter .
By setting up a facebook page and a twitter account dedicated to the film; we could
inform and advertise the film to our target audience.
Another way of promoting our film would include placing posters on billboards
around the UK.
6. Our thoughts on release strategies
As our film is low budget we may not be able too air the film in a cinema,
therefore it would be originally be released on DVD.
Also our film would be put online firstly for a maximum of 48hours so that it
can become popular and well-known so that people then go and buy it once
it comes offline.
