1. Question 1- Section 2
In what way does your media product, use, develop or
challenge forms of real media products?
2. For my digipak I used the conventions of the four panel layout, this is because it is
also a convention of the indie rock digipak I researched into. This can be seen with
artists such as The 1975, Florence and the Machine, Lorde and Marina and the
Diamonds. These digipaks are typically black and white which is a convention I used
with my own digipak to attract the same audience.
3. Panel 1
With my panel 1 I used the
conventions of a typical indie rock
digipak front panel. The main
conventions are to have a black
background with a white clean cut
font. I used this convention because it
attracts the audience demographic we
were trying to reach with our video
and digipak. Another convention I used
was to have the name of the artist and
the name of the album on the front
cover so that the prospective audience
will know the name of the artist and
the album name.

4. Panel 2 and 3
With my panels two and three I used the conventions
of digipaks. Panel three is where the CD is placed, I
chose the photo I did so that when the CD was placed
over panel 3 it wouldn't cover my album artwork, the
image itself is from my video and the panel 2 used the
continuing motif of the blindfold. Another convention
which we used was to include the photo of the actor
from the video (which is usually the artist themselves)
in the digipak.

5. Panel 4
My panel 4 links to my music video, this is
because I used a screenshot from my video for
this panel. I chose this for my panel 4, not only
because of its visual links to my video but also
because of the way it keeps to conventions of
indie rock digipak back panels. The conventional
layout of the 4th panel typically includes a
barcode presented at the border of the panel,
with the tracklist either presented at the side of
the main image, or as part of the image itself (as
with the lowermost research panel, of The 1975's
eponymous album)

6. Conventions of magazine adverts
My magazine advert adheres to some key principles
of those in the indie /indie rock genre; the
minimalist approach to the quantity of text and
information is one that is consistently used
throughout the genre, from Lana Del Rey, to Biffy
Clyro (the former more representative of Indie pop,
but still applicable under the wider ‘indie’ macro-
genre). The tendency of the adverts of the genre to
utilize the imagery as a key pulling point Is one I
stuck to in the formation of my advert; the main
image is rather out of place, and draw attention to
it’s unusual key part, that being the shirtless figure
in the center, while keeping the fonts relatively
small and thus maintaining an uncluttered and
clean feeling to the advert.
