How did you use media technologies
in the construction and research,
planning and evaluation stages?

 I used through every process of my media
coursework. I used it for my research planning
and production to keep a log of what I have
been doing over the course of the year.
 I found it very straightforward using Blogger
because of last years experience. The only thing
I struggled on was finding an appropriate
image to fit the theme of a music video blog,
and one that was also the right size.
 I had no trouble changing the fonts, titles and
generally navigating my way around blogger.
 I used Youtube very frequently during my
research phase. I was constantly searching for
music videos/film clips that would help us
during our music videos. I have used YouTube
for years so have no trouble with it.
 However I did learn new skill, I learned how to
embed a video from YouTube on to Blogger.
This may be helpful to know in the future.
 The camera we used was different to the one we
had last year, but because of last years experience
with cameras and the disasters we had with
battery life and filming shots we went into filming
with the correct knowledge and skills.
 I feel filming in general was a different experience
to last year because there were so many more shots
to film for the music video.
 The time lapse for the chorus took an hour and a
half to film, we were mainly worried about the
battery life going or the memory filling up on the
SD card, thankfully nothing happened and we did
not have to re-film anything.
 Editing on iMovie was simple, our knowledge as a group
combined from last year made the editing process so quick and
easy.
 Putting shots together was very enjoyable because we knew what
we were doing.
 With the correct feedback from teachers our music video was very
easy to edit.
 However timing shots to the music was a new skill that I acquired
because we didn't have to know anything nearly as complex as
this for the thriller film we did last year.
 We did have to film more montage shots to make the verse last
longer until the chorus but we had many ideas so it all went
smoothly.
 Finding the correct audio to import onto the movie itself proved a
challenge because it was either very distorted and cheap or not the
correct version.
 I only have basic knowledge of Photoshop, so
when completing my ancillary tasks it was
quite difficult to obtain what I wanted mainly
because I didn’t know what I was doing.
 I found this part of the coursework most
difficult because it’s the area I have the least
experience in.
 Luckily from the help of teachers and peers I
gained new knowledge of Photoshop, for
example how to manipulate the colour of two
layered images at one time.
 I used both of these multimedia techniques last
year so have no problem with them. They are
straightforward to use and easy to import to
Blogger.
 I learned how to back up a document onto an
external hardrive onto another computer.
 I also learned how to export images from a
camera SD card to a Mac book. This skill will
be very useful because it is a common
occurrence to need to back up things and
import and export files to other sources.
 Due to last years experience the researching
process was better. I do find researching for the
relevant information a need a challenge but i
used skills from last year to know what to look
for and know what to type into Google
 The only major difficulty we had with
technology was at the start of the year when
Blogger wouldn’t work in school because it
was blocked by the school system.
 This prevented us from completing any
research in school for a short while.

Evaluation question 4

  • 1. How did you use media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages?
  • 2.  Blogger  Youtube  Cameras  iMovie  Photoshop  Prezi  Slideshare  External Hardrive  Websites used to collect music  Websites for research
  • 3.  I used through every process of my media coursework. I used it for my research planning and production to keep a log of what I have been doing over the course of the year.  I found it very straightforward using Blogger because of last years experience. The only thing I struggled on was finding an appropriate image to fit the theme of a music video blog, and one that was also the right size.  I had no trouble changing the fonts, titles and generally navigating my way around blogger.
  • 4.  I used Youtube very frequently during my research phase. I was constantly searching for music videos/film clips that would help us during our music videos. I have used YouTube for years so have no trouble with it.  However I did learn new skill, I learned how to embed a video from YouTube on to Blogger. This may be helpful to know in the future.
  • 5.  The camera we used was different to the one we had last year, but because of last years experience with cameras and the disasters we had with battery life and filming shots we went into filming with the correct knowledge and skills.  I feel filming in general was a different experience to last year because there were so many more shots to film for the music video.  The time lapse for the chorus took an hour and a half to film, we were mainly worried about the battery life going or the memory filling up on the SD card, thankfully nothing happened and we did not have to re-film anything.
  • 6.  Editing on iMovie was simple, our knowledge as a group combined from last year made the editing process so quick and easy.  Putting shots together was very enjoyable because we knew what we were doing.  With the correct feedback from teachers our music video was very easy to edit.  However timing shots to the music was a new skill that I acquired because we didn't have to know anything nearly as complex as this for the thriller film we did last year.  We did have to film more montage shots to make the verse last longer until the chorus but we had many ideas so it all went smoothly.  Finding the correct audio to import onto the movie itself proved a challenge because it was either very distorted and cheap or not the correct version.
  • 7.  I only have basic knowledge of Photoshop, so when completing my ancillary tasks it was quite difficult to obtain what I wanted mainly because I didn’t know what I was doing.  I found this part of the coursework most difficult because it’s the area I have the least experience in.  Luckily from the help of teachers and peers I gained new knowledge of Photoshop, for example how to manipulate the colour of two layered images at one time.
  • 8.  I used both of these multimedia techniques last year so have no problem with them. They are straightforward to use and easy to import to Blogger.
  • 9.  I learned how to back up a document onto an external hardrive onto another computer.  I also learned how to export images from a camera SD card to a Mac book. This skill will be very useful because it is a common occurrence to need to back up things and import and export files to other sources.
  • 10.  Due to last years experience the researching process was better. I do find researching for the relevant information a need a challenge but i used skills from last year to know what to look for and know what to type into Google
  • 11.  The only major difficulty we had with technology was at the start of the year when Blogger wouldn’t work in school because it was blocked by the school system.  This prevented us from completing any research in school for a short while.
