I watched people just do nothing (episode1 season2), it’s a comedy
mockumentary based in west London around the lives of 6 main characters. in
this show they show the lower class and under class and there stereotypes.
The show starts off medium shot of four of the main characters rapping near
some steps, while in the back round there is the shot of a council estate, the
director has done this to show that they are poor and or a lower class.
the shots then turn in to a montage, to show the
audience that they rap artist from London. The
camera then cutting to hand held footage of two of
the main characters talking to keep with the style
that this is a mockumentary.
Just from the first couple of shots the director has
already established that they come from lower class
and are stereotypically trying to be a white rappers from London.
The episode is mainly about grinders daughter angel getting christening and
beats and decoy trying to win the affection from grinder to become the
godfather of his daughter angel. Also the michelle is getting chabuddy to print
some t-shirts for her daughters christening.
Through out the full episode the full cast are shot to seem of a lower class.
Grinder is a pirate raido ‘’rapper’’, a job of a very low to no income. Michelle
income it not stated. But the way they are dressed and acted shows they are not
in a family of high income. Even the way they talk is stereotypical ‘lower class’
they do not pronounce words correctly and have changed words in to slang.
The way they have been dressed is very fitting for the character they are trying
to be. Through out this full episode there is a lot of stereotypes that the actors
do to make their role seem more believable such as the way they dress, drug
habits, slang and where they live.
2. INDUCTION ASSESSMENT2015
The camera angles through out the episode are mostly handheld and some fitted
shots. At the end of the episode there is a medium close up with a shallow focus
of two of the main characters talking. Grinder the leader of the group one of the
main characters is centre shot with beats slightly out of the centre of the shot.
the director has done this to show that grinder is in charge and beats is not
equal to him. Behind grinder and beats in the last shot is a shallow focus of
council estate, this shows grinder and beats in focus and the estate out of focus.
The shot is also very high up above the other buildings; I believe the director
has done this to show decoy is trying to be above everyone else in that estate.
The director has used a lot of different shot and angles to set the stage and
make the mockudocumentary seem believable and that the actor’s roles are
real. The director also uses a lot of different stereotypes to make the charterer
seem as much like the real person it is trying to be.
