of Wisdom was actually a social improvement to the Islamic society
because it brought together scholars from different continents and
beyond to work in the same Arabic language.

Did you know that Arabic numbers and the idea of the number zero made Algebra possible? Al-
Khwarizmi, a Persian mathematician during the Abbasid caliphate, wrote a textbook that was the
standard for Algebra for centuries. This was an important achievement because basic algebra is
commonly used in everyday life.
Medicine
The most well known doctor of the Golden Age was Al-Razi (864-930 CE). He wrote about 200
medical books, including those written about diseases such as smallpox and chickenpox. Al-Razi was
also a talented surgeon, and an experimenter of potential cures for ailments. Through many great
doctors such as Al-Razi, hundreds of hospitals came to be established throughout the Islamic Empire.
