During the Golden Age of Islam, the discovery of papermaking from China increased accessibility to writing. Scholars from around the world gathered in the "House of Wisdom" in Baghdad to translate literature and knowledge into Arabic. As the Abbasid Empire expanded under Islamic rule, Arabic became the dominant language across the diverse region as Islamic law was universally applied.

parchment or papyrus,
therefore writing was much
more accessible

continents. In the house of
wisdom they translated
literature and knowledge to
Arabic.

islam groups came under
Islamic control as the Abbasid
armies borders and Islamic
law was universal through the
empire.

5. Social
• During the golden age of
Islam Arabic was spreading.
More people learned Arabic as
the empire expanded. Arabic
was the official language of
the Muslim empire.
