2. Chinese Paper Making Process
The “Chinese paper making process” was an economic
achievement of the empire. It spread throughout the
empire because of how much faster the process was then
making parchment or papyrus. Therefore the new process
was very popular. First government offices used them;
next, the rest of society. Stores sold books and paper
while businesses used paper as money similar to today's
checks.
3. Zero is my Hero!
Did you know that without zero algebra would be
impossible!? Arabic numerals adapted from
Hindu also take a big part in Algebra. Thanks to a
man named Al-Khwarizmi, we have algebra
concepts. The algebra textbook he created
(during the Islamic Golden Age) was the
standard for centuries. Therefore math was an
intellectual achievement from the Golden age.
4. Four Rightly
Califs
The “Four Rightly Califs” were four
caliphs who were close to
Muhammed. They were chosen to
rule after Muhammad's death in 632
AD, since he gave no instruction on
how Arabia should be ruled. This
was a political achievement because,
they set a government system that
would be passed on to today.
5. Forced conversion
Although the empire would like to appear as though they didn’t push Islam on its
citizens. However, due to a tax called jizya, they still had many conversions from Jews
and Christians. Since the tax was for specifically for non-Muslims. This was a Social
achievement from the Golden Age of Islam.
