2. Similarities
All three components of the magazine all carry a link to the main model, Dizzie rascal. Both
the front cover and the double page spread contain a main image of the artist however the
contents page doesn’t not, it links to the model in a different way as he is mentioned
throughout the context on the contents page. However this is unusual as in a typical
magazines all three elements of the magazine usually include an image of their main model.
This is an example of how the NME magazine has gone against the normal code and
conventions of a magazine by not including an image of the model in all three elements.
All three components of the magazine follow a red, black and white colour scheme as well
as having bold font for headlines/mastheads and smaller fonts for other content. However
the NME masthead Is not included in all the elements of the magazine. We see the NME
masthead on the front cover as well as the contents page but it is not included in
the double page spread. This is once again unusual and typical magazines will include the
their logo/masthead in all three elements of the magazine to try a build brand recognition
however from the fact that the magazine hasn’t done this we can draw that the magazine is
more focused on including their model in all three elements rather than their brand as they
feel that their main selling point is the model (Dizzie Rascal) rather than their brand.
