Question 6
1. Q6. What have you learnt about
technologies from the process
of constructing this product?
2. Camera
I used a high quality Canon camera for my images.
Not having much experience using cameras I have learnt a lot from the
process of constructing my product.
When creating my student magazine, the white balance was too strong
leaving a bright effect on my images.
With the experience I have gotten from using the cameras, I ensured
that this didn’t happen the second time around.
Viewing the images on the LCD screen allowed me to view the quality
of my images immediately, and ensure that no more images needed to
be taken.
The picture in the bottom right hand
corner was used as the image for
my double page spread.
3. Photoshop
Photoshop was the main editing programme I
used during the construction of both my
student magazine and music magazine.
I had previous experience with photoshop at
GCSE ICT but I have learnt much more about
it since then.
Using a lower character to bring the writing
together on my magazine made it look more
professional and provided me with more room
on my magazine, I did not know how to do this
beforehand.
I also had to crop the background out of some
of my images, using the magic wand tool.
Many different filters and tools used helped
me to achieve the originality of my magazine.
4. InDesign
I used InDesign for the first time ever in order to create my double
page spread.
One of the things I learnt was how to include a drop-cap (This is where
the first letter is bigger, in comparison to the rest of the article). This
helped to give my magazine a professional look.
I also used this software to split my double page spread into 3 equal
columns to create a clean, tidy look and make my magazine look more
aesthetic.
I also used a quote in larger font to stand out. This is a quote that I
believe will appeal to my target audience.
5. DaFont
This was the first time I had used this site.
It has a wide range of different fonts to fit in with any chosen genre.
I used DaFont to create my masthead.
It was screenshotted, and pasted onto photoshop. I also cropped out
the background to give it a tidy look. Also to make the magazine look
like a real, professional one.
I used DaFont because it has a better quality than that of any
text/font pre-installed into photoshop.
6. Blogger
Another technology I used was blogger. I have been using this to
keep a track of all my work.
I post all my work on here so it is all in order and organization, to
prevent us from getting confused.
I had no problems with blogger, as it was simple and very easy to
use.
I had never used Blogger before.
Now I can use it in embed my
work, show presentations,
slideshares, images, etc…
7. Prezi and Emaze
Both Prezi and Emaze were used to show the production of my
magazine.
I had used both programmes before at GCSE at a low level.
I have developed my skills in both programmes but using both of
them numerous time to insert images, YouTube videos, etc…
