1. What have you learnt about
technologies from the process of
constructing this product?

2. Different Technologies
During the construction and process of my
magazine, I used many different types of
technologies. Here are a few:
3. To create my magazine I used Adobe
Photoshop CS5 and CS6. I used it to
produce the structure, layout and to input
and edit my images and texts. At first I
didn’t have any experience with Photoshop
so I found it difficult and challenging,
however I used online tutorials which
helped a lot.

4. I have learnt a lot from Photoshop in the
construction of this product. I learnt how the
quality of images can be improved by adding little
adjustments and by changing the brightness and
contrasts of them. Another thing I learnt would be
how to make the background disappear so that it is
only the model on the image. This is useful for
magazines as the backgrounds are usually already
there especially on front covers. I learnt how to do
this through watching YouTube tutorials which were
extremely useful.
5. I also wanted certain aspects such as the some of the
sell lines on my Front cover to have a certain effect,
therefore I added the ‘Drop Shadow Effect’ on it to make
it stand out more. Here is the example of where I added
it on my front cover:
Where it says ’13 songs’ I had
to create a square shape first
using the shape tool, and then
add the typography and edit it
further. This is where I used the
‘Drop Shadow Effect’ tool in
order to make it look more eye
catching and also look 3D. I
believe that this pull line will
attract my audience, especially
if there is two colours
contrasting on top of each
other there.
6. Microsoft word was useful to me especially for when I
created my double page spread as I was able to use it to
type up my script. It allowed me to identify any errors
with spelling and grammar and helped my magazine to
look more professional.
Microsoft word allowed me to type up most of my
evaluation questions in the end in order to then convert
them into a slide-share. It allowed me to be more
organised with my work. It also allowed me to save
screenshots of my progression throughout.
I used Prezi to answer one of my questions for the
evaluation. This was something that I had never used
before therefore I was able to learn how to use this
form of media and insert images into my Prezi to
make it look more interesting.
I used iMovie in order to create some of my vlogs for my
evaluation. This allowed me to record my voice over
images in order to allow audiences to understand the
choices I made throughout my process.
7. Photography and Images
For my images of my magazine, I decided to
use a Canon Camera as the quality of these
cameras are very high and good. My
pictures came out clear with these and I
was able to use aspects of the camera such
as Flash in order to make them look even
more better. For my shots, I decided to use
a variety of different shots such as some
close-up, mid-shots and also some long-
shots. I ended up taking many different
camera angle shots and then decided
which one I preferred the best in the end
and used them for my front cover, contents
page and double page spread.
