1. This article is about the pop artist miley cyrus. It is a question and answer type of
article with lots of information about her. Half of the article is about her and half is a
question and answer, I like this style of article as it is good for those people that like
both types of articles. The questions are also in a different colour, which shows that
it is easy to identify and makes it clearer the style of the magazine. The article isn’t
about her music although she is about to ‘drop a fourth album’ it is mostly about her
personal life, relationships and her past. The article is also small as one side of the
double page spread is with a large photo of her, which is a common theme in the
pop music genre, although leaves less space for more questions. This could be part
of a lifestyle/celebrity magazine as it doesn’t really talk about her music, which is a
large part of why she may be included in a magazine. Although, this type of article
fits in with my chosen target audience as it features a similar aged female and is not
too girly. The article also gives some insight into what she is like as a person and her
surroundings and gives details on where the interview took place. This would be
appealing to the audience as it gives more depth to the type of conversation the
writer would have had and what she is like as a person. This one is more likely to be
the style of my magazine article as it is more mature and has a good ratio of
questions and background information for readers who may not know the artist. It
also has a more mature colour scheme and font but reflects my target audience well.
2. This article is purely question and answer and this is shown by the colour scheme as
being targeted for a younger audience. It has less detail on location or background of
the artist as it is designed for younger audiences who may not be capable of reading
copious amounts of writing. Also, it features a large image in the centre of the page,
which is of a group well known in that genre. Furthermore, it also includes pull
quotes to entice the reader to read this page, it conveys that this group is well liked
and would be entertaining for a young female to read. The differences between the
previous article and this one, is this one is less formal as it is purely question based
and does not really include much detail from the writer. This is one I wouldn’t
include in my magazine because it is quite immature and less formal, it is good to get
to known more about the artist but isn’t right for my target audience as I think that
they would be expecting more of a detailed article with more challenging words as it
is aimed for older teenagers. Also, bright colours all over the page do not appeal to
the vast majority of my target audience.
