jack so that it represents the British part of the name.

3. Similar music magazines:
Billboard Magazine:
Billboard is an American magazine that
focuses mostly on charts from all round
the world. As well as this, they get big
name pop stars to do interviews for their
magazine. They focus on a range of
genres; however, the charts mostly
feature pop music. The person of the
cover is also a famous star, normally
females, however the males that star in it
are always very well know. These people
are used in images so that people
recognise them and be interested in the
articles about them. As well as this, they
are all almost on the magazine when
something interesting happens in their
lives, for example a new album, tour.
Another key area of the magazine
content is reviews on albums, tours as
well as particular songs.
The front covers of these magazines,
have the same bold mast head, on every
issue to follow codes and conventions.
As well as this, they always have the
main image in the centre of the page,
with the main cover lines over the top.
The selling lines and smaller cover lines
are then located on the sides.
The magazine originally began in 1894,
however, didn’t become an music
specialised magazine until the 1960’s.
4. Q Magazine:
‘Q’ magazine is a very popular monthly
magazine that covers a range of music
genres. It also does lots of features
where they look at the top 100 or an
artist/bands best songs. This therefore
means they cover a range of genres. As
a result of this, the magazine has a very
broad target market. However, there is a
very large focus on pop music within the
magazine and a result of this, the main
image on the front page is normally of
an iconic pop star. By doing this they
appeal to the pop music audience. This
is as the people on their magazines will
be recognised and may influence their
decision into buying this magazine.
The first issue of Q was published in
October 1989 by EMAP media group,
aiming to have higher standards in
photography and printing. The magazine
was originally called ‘Que’ however was
changed to Q after the magazine started
becoming mistaken for a snooker
magazine. In 2008 the magazine was
sold to the Bauer Media Group.
