Evaluation question 7
1. Evaluation Question 7
Looking back at your
preliminary task, what do you
feel you have learnt in the
progression from it to the full
product?
2. Front Cover Comparison
The over all look of my magazine cover looks a lot
more professional and structured than the
preliminary version. This is because I developed
my skills in Photoshop and did lots of research on
my target audience. The preliminary cover had a
colour scheme that didn’t really suit the magazine
and looked a bit tacky. With my final front cover, I
used the space appropriately, unlike in the prelim
where most of the cover lines are near the top of
the page all crammed together. I’ve learnt that
every decision you make for a front cover has to
be intentional with the target audience in mind.
However I kept some things the same such as the
placing of the barcode and the bottom strip as
that’s where they normally go.
I think looking at lots of music magazines and
doing audience research really gave me a good
feel of how to produce to front cover.

3. Contents Page Comparison
My preliminary contents page was simplistic
and wasn’t a good use of the space. With
my final front cover I used the same idea of
the box to put the articles in. However, after
looking at different contents pages I found
that they all had multiple sub headings so I
put that into my music magazine. The
improvement of my Photoshop skills really
helped in creating my final contents page as
I was able to deal with the multiple layers
which is something I didn’t feel confident
with in the prelim. Also I edited the image
into black and white which fits into the
colour scheme. The addition of the social
media information was also down to the
audience research I did. I learnt from my
research and planning that the readers like
to see things they can relate to.
