And just as ANZ's approach has put them in the means to short–term and long–term managing, all
corporations must have been operating for both short–term and long–term running. Economic
sustainability refers to an economy's ability to create and maintain economic conditions that retain
economic health of current moment and long–term economic development. In the banking
corporation, it's less complex to aiming for, as banking of all organizations should know how to
manage funds in the long run financially profitable. Environmental sustainability is about making
responsible decisions that will reduce the negative impact on the environment caused by business
activities, not simply about reducing the amount of waste you produce or using less energy, but is
concerned with developing state that will make businesses more reliably sustainable in future
operations. Social sustainability has been given less attention in public activities than economic and
environmental sustainability. It is the neither the most defined or understood of the different ways of
approaching sustainable development. ANZ seeks to better understand social and environmental
pressures and to identify what can be done in the workplaces and branches to help minimise
environmental impact. They also actively support customers and suppliers to deliver environment–

1.6 Literature Review The proposal has been drawn on concepts such as value chain analysis and
approaches to achieve competitive advantages in an organization. It has been stated in researches
that the competitive advantages of an organization are specific to a country and "the value chain are
a reflection of its history, its strategy, its approach to implementing its strategy and the underlying
economics of the activities themselves" (Porter, 1986, 1985). Since ANZ has its business located in
several countries, value configuration will be a crucial step in analysing the geographical dispersion
of activities (Schmid and Groshe, 2008) . The research on how business reengineering is beneficial
while implementing an ICT solution will help in drawing an outline of how it will proceed (Huo et
al, 2010). 2. ANZ's International Business Strategy 2.1 Introduction International Business Strategy
can be referred to as a plan of action where the 'internationally scattered subsidiaries of an
organization act independently, with minimum coordination with the parent company' (Twarowska,
2013). Few of the incentives (UT Arlington) that an organization achieves by expanding
international business strategy are listed below: Increased market size: The customer base for the
organization increases drastically, facilitating mergers and joint ventures with country–specific
businesses. Greater returns on investments: Discovering Low–cost countries to acquire services and

demand network access to a shared pool of configurable computing resources – networks, servers,

in the workplace, as for males, they focus a lot on achievement, self–reliance and motivation and
woman focus on nurturance and responsibility(Cullen 2011, p.50–51). Australia and New Zealand
scored higher than Indonesia on masculinity and in general this means that in Australia and New
Zealand most of the jobs are defined by gender and although there is not a vast difference in scoring
Indonesia's scoring is lower at 46 in comparison to Australia at the top at 61 and New Zealand at 58.
The main difference is that men tend to choose longer term jobs in comparison to women, the men
also accept expatriate jobs much more easily when compared to women as women have to care and
nurture their families.(Cullen 2011,p 51–52) Uncertainty Avoidance The uncertainty and avoidance
scores are very close together, Australia at 51, New Zealand at 49 and Indonesia at 48 and
Uncertainty avoidance is Indonesia's second highest score which is 48. Even though Indonesia has
the second highest score in uncertainty avoidance index, it is still a low score compared to a world

government expenditure is 35.7% of the economy. Research shows that the younger generation i.e.
those under 24 years are favouring the use of debit cards and moving away from credit cards as

Taiwan 's Economic Impact On The Economy
Taiwan's economy ranked the 20th largest in the world in 2014 on a purchasing power basis, and
26th in nominal terms according to IMF data. IMF projected Taiwan's economy to rank 21th on a
purchasing power basis and 22rd in nominal terms in 2016. Its economy is well developed and it's
growing at a stable rate. Since 1992, Taiwan's GDP growth has an average 4.5%. Its GDP per capita
raised from $9,116 in 1992 to $19,762 in 2012. Taiwan has experienced rapid expansion in
international trade. In 1992, Taiwan's total trade was over $180 billion and represented 82% of GDP.
In 2012, Taiwan's trade was over $650 billion and represented 140% of GDP. In 2012, over 77% of
Taiwan imports were of agricultural goods and raw materials due to limited arable land and natural
resources. While only around 1% of exports were from agricultural goods, the rest 99% of exports
were from industrial sector (Meltzer, 2014). Therefore, agricultural goods are highly demanded in
Taiwan.
Politically, Taiwan was under the control of the Kuomingtang(KMT) after world war II.
Kuomingtang(KMT) is the Nationalist Party which ruled both mainland China and Taiwan.
After defeat by Communist party in the Chinese Civil War, Kuomingtang(KMT) retreat to Taiwan in

The For The Cash Rate Unchanged At 2.0 % Essay
At its meeting today, the Board decided to leave the cash rate unchanged at 2.0%.
The Board's decision is based on the following conditions. According to the January 2016 World
Economic Outlook (WEO) , the growth rate is 3.1% in 2015, which is less than the forecast in 2016
(3.4%) and 2017(3.6%). It is apparent that the global economy is slightly dipped and the economic
recovery is predicted to be moderated in 2016. Besides, the surplus supply in the oil market possibly
be moderated and the members noticed the World Bank adjusted the predicted oil price in 2016 from
$37 per barrel to $41 per barrel , which may drive a growth of the inflation rate. The World Bank
also pointed out that in February, the reduction forecast in metals prices is 8.2%, less than the
prediction in January (10.2%)5. It is inimical to Australia, which is rich in mineral resources.
Moreover, since China is the largest export market of Australia, its slowdown of growth probably
influences the trade with Australia. At 2015, China's GDP increasing rate was 6.9% and reached the
bottom at 6.7% in the first quarter of 2016 . Some trade with Australia, such as iron ore, base metals
and coal, may be affected by this reduction. As a result, we cannot deny that the cash rate may be
influenced by the possible drop in the future. However, the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) signed by
China and Australia entered into force on 20 December 2015 . Due to the agreement, over 86% of
Australia's goods that export to China

Low Levels Of Youth Engagement In The Election
New Zealand is a representative democracy, where general elections are held once every three years,
to create fair votes. New Zealand citizens and residents are eligible to vote from the age of 18,
however enrolling is required whereas, voting is not compulsory. The general elections are coming
up soon, and according to the previous outcomes, the results of votes have been a concerning
problem from the last previous years. This is mainly concerning within the younger age groups from
18–24. This is an important issue because if the younger voters are not fulfilling this opportunity, the
level of youth engagement may not increase in the future. Due to the low levels of youth
engagement, the policy solution needs to be modified in order to ... Show more content on

Due to the low level of knowledge that young people know about the political affairs, this is one of
the disadvantages that is possibly causing the results to be quite low, as the people will have no
understanding on how they decide the right decision that could provide the country with a better
future. This can also affect a number of votes on what the other citizens and residents in New
Zealand have a say in the future because the people who didn't vote aren't having a say on the future
they want.
One policy solution to increase the engagement of the young voters is to make voting compulsory.
Currently voting is not compulsory, however, it is required to enrol for the elections in New
Zealand. To increase the outcomes of voting "Compulsory voting for local elections – with fines for
those who don't have their say – is worth considering to tackle record low turnout", Labour says. By
enforcing this legislation, this would mean that even if the young voters would not vote they would
need to unless they want to face the consequence of having a fine applied. Given a number of people
that are not engaging in the elections in New Zealand, this has been a problem for the previous year,
but to change this it could potentially increase the number of voters. Currently, the legislation of
compulsory voting with a

In terms of Westpac's enterprise agreement there was a major industrial issue regarding the loss of
jobs and employees had a vote in order to ensure that their rights and working conditions were met
with Westpac's enterprise agreement.
In the workplace, the instrument that is widely addressed and has created ongoing conflict in the
workplace is parental leave. Paid parental leave allows the employees to be covered by working
conditions which allows them to be accommodated from recuperation from birth ( (Baird, Whelan ,

eighteen weeks for employees to take time off to take care of their newborns or infants ( (Human

the workplace are only given thirteen weeks of paid parental leave including superannuation pay,
therefore this created industrial conflicts regarding the unpaid parental leave. The workplace
parental leave conditions are protected by the Paid Parental Leave Act (2010), which ensures that
employees are given financial support to care for their newborns .The parental scheme is

Japanese and German counterparts. Brazilian Finance Minister Guido Mantega said last month that
a "currency war" was under way, in which economies are weakening currencies to support exports.
At an International Monetary Fund meeting this month in Washington, finance chiefs failed to

developing and maturing and ageing population which is expected to touch 40 million by 2055 with
almost 25% of the population or 10 million being 65 or more. With its ageing population, Australia

further separate national markets. Different geographical figures and contrasting manners of
development for external strategies underlie that (Venzin, Kumar, Kleine, 2008) banks '
internationalization has been driven primarily by opportunism it is clear that overseas expansion has
not guaranteed superior financial performance. For these reasons, it is instructive to consider a retail
bank that has both adopted a systematic approach to international expansion and has generated
exceptional financial and operational performance. The exclusive procedure to transform the
opportunism into the superior financial performance is with high competent managers and a
successful implementation of an internationalising business model.

The Market Of Monopoly, Oligopoly And Duopoly Monopoly
Introduction
There are different types of market situation a firm has to face which directly affect the price and the
quantity demanded and supplied in the economy. The major types of market structures prevalent in
the economy are perfect competition, monopolistic market, monopoly, oligopoly and duopoly. Here,
in this essay we will be elaborating about three market conditions i.e. monopoly, oligopoly and
duopoly where monopoly is characterized by single seller in the market selling unique products with
high barriers to entry which makes it difficult or impossible for others firms to enter the market. As a
result, firm can enjoy abnormal profit by owning the fundamental resources, licenses and patents
that create legal barriers to other ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
New Zealand Stock Exchange which can be called as only competitor is also interested to help them
rather than competing with them. Likewise, Australia has the legalized monopoly in the field of
casino and gambling licenses. For example, tatts lotto and TAB operations in Queensland, Southern
Australia, Northern Territory is legally protected. In addition to this, city link trains are also
enjoying monopoly n the major cities like Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane (Dunn 2006). Through
monopoly firms want to maintain the standards and retain the prices ( Darren 2012).
In the monopoly market situation the profit is maximum at a point where marginal cost (MC) is
equal to marginal revenue (MR) where equilibrium price is P1 and cost being ATC1 leading to
abnormal economic profit which is shown by the shaded area (Hubbard et. al. 2013).
With limited options the oligopoly tends to largely ignore the actual consumer because they have
such little market power so, consumer orientation is low in an oligopoly and the investment in
market research tends to be low to non– surviving. As a result of all this, oligopolistic markets have
highly loyal customers due high brand awareness but very low in brand associations and exhibits
low differentiation from each other. In Australia 80 percent of national retail banking is ruled by four
big banks i.e. National Australia bank (NAB), Common Wealth Bank, Australia

Abc Learning Centres Limited
1.Executive Summary
ABC Learning Centres Limited (ABC) has recently came into limelight in the childcare industry. It
went into receivership on 6 Nov 2008 and Australian Government has announced to assist ABC to
continue operation till end of 2008 by injecting $22 million.
An analysis has been done on ABC on why the company has landed itself into receivership by
analysing its annual Income Statement, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow Statement. Reading and
analysing of news and articles in relation to ABC has been done to support and supplement the

From the analysis, the underlying reasons for ABC to be in current state are the excessive

4.Financial Position and State of Affairs
In 2006, ABC acquired Learning Care Group, Busy Bees in UK and Forward Steps in New Zealand
to become the world largest child care provider. All these major acquisitions took place during
2005–2007.
In 2005, ABC bought over Funatastic Holding, the exclusive toys supplier for ABC. However, this
doesn't mean ABC is getting the most competitive price. By making Funatastic Holding too
dependent on ABC and may impede its growth.
In last quarter of 2007, ABC further acquire Leapfrog Nurseries group of 88 childcare centres,
increase its stakes to 80% in Mediasphere Pty Ltd in digital publishing and the completion of
acquisition of New Zealand College of Early Childhood Education.
They are involved in social activities like funding SIDS and Kids, Starlight Children's Foundation
Australia and the Royal Children's Hospital–Brisbane, and many others. It also set up its own
training college, NIECE–The National Institute of Early Childhood Education, which makes ABC
one of Australia's most popular training and assessment providers in this specialized field.
As a result of this rapid expansion, ABC financial woes start to unfold due to rumours about its $1.8
billion debt triggered a decline in the company's share price. The major shareholders were forced to

The Impact of New Zealand banks
New Zealand's banking system has its roots in continental Europe. The first trading bank (the union
bank of Australia) was established in 1840. After 1860, a numbers of other Australian and British
banks followed, three were British overseas banks, two were Australian and one was local.
Therefore the New Zealand banking sector has a long history of foreign ownership
The government began to ease the restrictions of financial institutions from 1975, and the
deregulation of banking was introduced in 1986, the main effect of the deregulation programme was
to remove the legislation that restricts competition within finance sector. Since 1987 there have been

There are many forces at work in every sector and every industry of an economy and the dynamic
nature of every industry keeps all the companies operating in each sector on its toes. All of these
factors that are at work could potentially changes the fortunes of a company, in this case, the
National Australia Bank, who operates within the banking industry.
Banking Industry
Australia's banks offer a wide range of financial services to individuals and businesses while playing
an important role in the economy. According to the Australia Bankers Association Inc homepage,
"Banks in Australia value the communities in which they find themselves and are committed to
giving something back to those communities. Every year, community organizations receive millions
of dollars of direct support from banks in various forms. The industry also has a strong tradition of
free education in financial skills and in 2003 embarked on a major new initiative in financial
literacy."
As a major employer in Australia, banks have adopted progressive workplace policies. Staff enjoys
excellent pay and flexible workplaces. Banks are vital to the Australian economy, being the third
largest contributor to the nation's Gross Domestic Product. By also acting as major players in Asia–
Pacific financial markets, banks help promote Australia in international commerce.

Business Ethics : Australian And New Zealand Banking Group
Business Ethics has been increasingly discussed during the last decades among society. This study
expects to introduce the theory of ethics and then evaluate these concepts on an analyses of the
banking industry, specifically the Australian and New Zealand Banking Group (ANZ). The theory
part explains the meaning of ethics, and why corporations should have an ethical behaviour inside
and outside their working environment. It is also pointed out the factors that can influence one's
ethics and the globalisation process involvement with ethics principles. The case study part focus on
values and principles within the banking industry, and canalise the subject into ANZ Case. Values
supported by ANZ banking company are confronted with its true reputation before the media and
society.
Theory
Most people usually think business and ethics are two different concepts that are very hardly inter–
related (Gavai, 2010). It may be explained by the fact that business is an activity which is governed,
basically, by the principle of incomes and outcomes, while ethics, on the other hand, promotes good
moral behaviours. That usually suggests you what one ought to do and what is "right" or "wrong".
This impression is not, however, what we can see in reality. Business activities integrate society and,
as part of it, simple rules of human society, such as ethics and responsibilities are involved. Getting
deeper on the concept, ethics can be seen as a manner to control people's actions, to

The Size Of The Shadow Banking
The Size of the Shadow Banking: A Review of the Literature and Measurements in New Zealand
1. What is a "shadow bank"?
The notion of "shadow bank" put forward by economist Paul MaCulley in 2007. Rephrasing
McCulley (2009), shadow banks refer mainly to non–bank financial intermediaries, including
broker–dealers, hedge funds, private equity groups, investment bank, structured investment vehicles
(SIVs), conduits, CDO structures, money market funds, non–bank mortgage lenders and other
similar entities, which engage in maturity transformation, that is raising (mostly borrowing) short–
term funds in the money markets and using them to buy assets with long–run maturities. These
transactions are in the "shadows" because they are not subject to traditional bank regulation. Also,
they cannot–as commercial banks can–borrow in an emergency from the Reserve Bank and do not
insure these funds.
2. Why is shadow banking system important?
Shadow banking is the inevitable creation of economic development. It brings liquidity, flexibility
and credit risk transformation to the financial market. On the other hand, shadow banks can do harm
to economy because of their inherent defects–asset quality, funding fragility and liquidity mismatch
(Adrain & Ashcraft, 2012). In 2008, shadow banks played a massive role in propelling the global
financial crisis, which was "the worst financial crisis since Depression" (IMF, 2008). Since the size
of shadow banking system is related to financial stability, the

Executive Summary
This report provides analysis of the current liquidity management in banks. Methods of evaluation
include peer, trend and horizontal analysis such as ratios, principle and regulations. In the first part,
we analyze the differences between liability liquidity management and asset liquidity management
and explore the features an effective liquidity management system should possess. Then we

world," Ferguson said in an interview at the World Knowledge Forum in Seoul. "It would be much
better to have some kind of Plaza–like international agreement and I very much hope that at the G–
20 summit in Seoul next month this will be No.1 on the agenda." The Plaza Agreement reached in
1985 prompted a decline in the U.S. dollar against its Japanese and German counterparts. Brazilian
Finance Minister Guido Mantega said last month that a "currency war" was under way, in which
economies are weakening currencies to support exports. At an International Monetary Fund meeting
this month in Washington, finance chiefs failed to narrow differences over currencies, with China

According to the January 2016 World Economic Outlook (WEO) , the growth rate is 3.1% in 2015, which is less than the forecast in 2016 (3.4%) and 2017(3.6%). It is apparent that the global economy is slightly dipped and the economic recovery is predicted to be moderated in 2016. Besides, the surplus supply in the oil market possibly be moderated and the members noticed the World Bank adjusted the predicted oil price in 2016 from $37 per barrel to $41 per barrel , which may drive a growth of the inflation rate. The World Bank also pointed out that in February, the reduction forecast in metals prices is 8.2%, less than the prediction in January (10.2%)5. It is inimical to Australia, which is rich in mineral resources. Moreover, since China is the largest export market of Australia, its slowdown of growth probably influences the trade with Australia. At 2015, China's GDP increasing rate was 6.9% and reached the bottom at 6.7% in the first quarter of 2016 . Some trade with Australia, such as iron ore, base metals and coal, may be affected by this reduction. As a result, we cannot deny that the cash rate may be influenced by the possible drop in the future. Due to the low level of knowledge that young people know about the political affairs, this is one of the disadvantages that is possibly causing the results to be quite low, as the people will have no understanding on how they decide the right decision that could provide the country with a better future. This can also affect a number of votes on what the other citizens and residents in New Zealand have a say in the future because the people who didn't vote aren't having a say on the future they want. One policy solution to increase the engagement of the young voters is to make voting compulsory. Currently voting is not compulsory, however, it is required to enrol for the elections in New Zealand. To increase the outcomes of voting "Compulsory voting for local elections – with fines for those who don't have their say – is worth considering to tackle record low turnout", Labour says. By enforcing this legislation, this would mean that even if the young voters would not vote they would need to unless they want to face the consequence of having a fine applied. It is also pointed out the factors that can influence one's ethics and the globalisation process involvement with ethics principles. The case study part focus on values and principles within the banking industry, and canalise the subject into ANZ Case. The notion of "shadow bank" put forward by economist Paul MaCulley in 2007. Rephrasing McCulley (2009), shadow banks refer mainly to non–bank financial intermediaries, including broker–dealers, hedge funds, private equity groups, investment bank, structured investment vehicles (SIVs), conduits, CDO structures, money market funds, non–bank mortgage lenders and other similar entities, which engage in maturity transformation, that is raising (mostly borrowing) short– term funds in the money markets and using them to buy assets with long–run maturities. These transactions are in the "shadows" because they are not subject to traditional bank regulation. Also, they cannot–as commercial banks can–borrow in an emergency from the Reserve Bank and do not insure these funds. 2. Why is shadow banking system important? Shadow banking is the inevitable creation of economic development. It brings liquidity, flexibility and credit risk transformation to the financial market. On the other hand, shadow banks can do harm to economy because of their inherent defects–asset quality, funding fragility and liquidity mismatch (Adrain & Ashcraft, 2012). In 2008, shadow banks played a massive role in propelling the global financial crisis, which was "the worst financial crisis since Depression" (IMF, 2008). Methods of evaluation include peer, trend and horizontal analysis such as ratios, principle and regulations. In the first part, we analyze the differences between liability liquidity management and asset liquidity management and explore the features an effective liquidity management system should possess.
