Musical Autobiography
My life has always been centered around music even before I was born. Music is a big part of whom
I am because it something I can go to and play on the piano when I am stressed or sad. Music for me
is a calming force that helps solve my emotions. Music is such an important role in my life because
at a very young age I watched my mother play the piano which in time made me want to learn as
well. Throughout my life, I have learned to play the piano and the flute and wished I knew how to
play the cello and the oboe. I grew up in a family who loved music. Ever since I was in first grade, I
could read music and started to learn to play the piano. There was always a piano in our house, and
every Sunday morning, my mother would play the organ at ... Show more content on

My high school music teacher was a major influence on what I like to listen to now. In ninth grade, I
had a music appreciation class where we had two assignments that really helped shape my musical
tastes. The first one we were told to make a playbill on a Broadway musical we liked but prior to
that class I had never been to Broadway. My partner and I chose to do ours on Wicked which is now
one of my favorite albums to listen to and I hope I get to see in person someday. This assignment
started my love for all things Broadway. The second assignment we had in that class was a report we
had to do on one of our favorite artists. I had done mine on the Rascal Flatts but the really changed
my opinion on music from that assignment was the peer pressure of my class to like rock music and
rap. To this day I still don't like to listen to rap but I have learned to like rock music. The music I
like to listen today ranges from Contemporary Christian music with artists like Matthew West,
Newsboys and Francesca Battistelli to Rock bands like Bon Jovi and Journey. I still hold some
country bands like Reba McEntire and the Rascal Flatts dear to my heart but they are not the only
genre that I hold dear to my heart. There are a lot of artists that I no longer like to listen to some of
them include Taylor Swift and the Gaither Vocal

Her most notorious song was actually not written by Reba, but was a cover of a Bobbie Gentry song.
She related with the song well because she believed she also "went from rags to riches" ("Reba
McEntire Biography"). Reba used her musical career to honor the eight members of her band that
were killed in a plane crash in 1991 (Monaco). The theme song, "I'm a Survivor", belonged to
McEntire's show Reba, and hit the charts at number three in 2001 (Branson 79). Her music is more
than catchy tunes, her songs tell stories. The singer released a song titled "Is There a Life Out
There". As the song plays, it tells of Margaret Elizabeth, a wife, mother, and waitress ("Reba
McEntire Biography"). Reba McEntire is more than just a singer, she is a philanthropist. In the late
eighties, Reba helped benefit concerts for those in need. Before the concerts started, in 1980 Reba
McEntire had family that was being treated in the Texoma Medical Center. Her time their made her
think. What if she made a place for families to stay while a loved one was in the hospital? In 1992,
she made the first Reba's Ranch House, a free place to stay while a family member was seeking
medical attention (Maynard). Located in Denison, Texas, the house has been open for over twenty

Coming from a small town in Oklahoma, Carrie Underwood never thought she would become
country music's next big thing, but that is exactly what happened. However, even after being named

The Realism Of Realism And Film
The aesthetics of realism in each film can be utilized in many diverse ways to offer certain truths
about the world of the film to further express the film's story. These theatrical elements emphasize
what the film attempts to relay to the audience; moreover, it intensifies the authenticity of each
aspect of the film. The use of real people, on–camera interviews, textual information, and of direct
address to the camera displays the realism of each film.
Textual information is shown in This is Spinal Tap and Shut up and Sing in various parts of the
movies and for different reasons. The first time textual information is presented in Spinal Tap is at
the beginning of the film. As the band plays at the concert, the camera moves to each band ... Show

On–camera interviews in both the films accentuate the films' realism. In Shut up and Sing there is an
interview in the beginning of the movie which took place after Natalie voiced her impolite comment
about President Bush. This shows the audience that Natalie is in fact sorry she said what she had
said but not sorry she had spoken up. Martie furthers her point by saying that their band would not
be as eminent as they are now if Natalie restrained her outspoken attitude. Another example is when
the Dixie Chicks are interviewed after the release of their new song Not Ready to Make Nice. The
interviewer says that public opinion has changed much in the past three years and that Bush's ratings
have gone down. Natalie replies that they were compelled to write their newest album. This shows
the audience the band's determination to stick with their opinions and that Bush's support has
decreased while the band's support has endured. In Spinal Tap, there are several instances in where
the band is interviewed. It is relayed to the audience that several drummers that were once apart of
Spinal Tap have all died under mysterious circumstances. This element, on–camera interviews, is
used to disclose some background of the band. Another example is when the lead singer of the band
is interviewed after Nigel quits the band. David says that he will move on because Nigel leaving is
no different than all the other people that have left the band. He also says

Logos And Ethos In Carrie Underwood's Blown Away
"Blown Away" by Carrie Underwood shows many examples of pathos, ethos, and logos in the song.
The emotions within the song are very heart wrenching and dark and the sound of the song is
portrayed this way. The sound of the song is very dark and intense with a fast loud beat throughout
which correlates to the lyrics and the video of the song as well. Carrie Underwood establishes her
credibility by being who she is as a country singer and has been for the past ten years. She also
shows logos in her song by telling the state in which it is happening which she repeatedly said was
Oklahoma. "Blown Away" is written to people who have experienced similar circumstances with
violence in their life at home and for people to hear about a story. The music ... Show more content

The song tells of an emotional breakup and the emotions shown in the song are sadness and anger.
After the breakup, she emotionally was torn apart and continuously will want him. Miley Cyrus
shows credibility by being who she is as a much known singer. The sound of the song automatically
starts with high and fast beats which sets the intense scene for the song. By the middle of the song,
the sound drops to a much slower beat but then back up for the final chorus. "Wrecking Ball" was
written to the guy who caused her to feel the way she did. In the first line of the song, she uses the
words "clawed" and "chained" which are not normal words used for people in a relationship. She
then says she fell under his "spell" meaning that she was into the relationship more of then him. She
also relate the death of their relationship to "we're ashes in the ground." Within the entire song when
she sung the word "wreck," it was emphasized and had a longer beat. The last two lines of
"Wrecking Ball" was "yeah, you, you wreck me," repeated twice also for emphasis. The music video
begins the song zoomed into Miley Cyrus' face almost like looking into her and her feelings. By the
second chorus and the increased beat she begins swinging on a ball, creating a visual of her feelings
and her literally coming in like a wrecking ball and breaking his

The Secret Life Of Bees Analysis
Sue Monk Kidd's The Secret Life of Bees and Rascal Flatts "I'm Movin' On", both adequately
demonstrate that a childhood of guilt can result in difficulty forgiving oneself and others.
Overcoming inner conflicts as well as finding a place of belonging and contentment is a result that
comes with self–forgiveness. The Secret Life of Bees is a story of a young girl named Lily Owens
who, throughout the novel, faces immense obstacles. This novel focuses on the blurred memory Lily
has of the death of her mother. In the novel, the reader learns that Lily was only a young child
during the death of her mother and her emotionally abusive father, T. Ray, often tells her that this
death was all her fault. T. Ray implements the idea that Lily was the one to who had accidentally
shot her mother with a gun which causes her to grow up living with the guilt and shame of this
traumatic event that took a very valuable life from her. As the plot intensifies, Lily and her strong–
willed black caretaker, Rosaleen, decide to escape T. Rays sadistic tendencies and abusive behavior.
After deciding to run away from T. Ray, Lily soon finds the Boatwright sisters who had a strong
connection with Lily's mother before she died. While meeting the Boatwright sisters, Lily says, "I
felt like she knew what a lying, murdering, hating person I really was. How I hated T. Ray, and the
girls at school, but mostly myself for taking away my mother" (Kidd 71). This quote shows the
destructive effect of being blamed

The Live Performance Of Dolly Parton's Just Because I 'm A...
Dolly represents the social inequality that was a main problem during this era.
The live performance of Dolly Parton's "Just Because I'm A Woman," shows artist sound,
performance, and clothing for the traditional era. The sound of her song started softly and the pitch
increased as it reached the chorus. Dolly Parton showed much more emotion and energy than
Tammy Wynette portrayed in her song. In addition, Dolly Parton dressed conservatively wearing a
dressy church dress as she performed. Parton, a traditional artist, represented the traditional era with
her conservative clothing; however, she went against the norm when she began questioning gender
roles.
There is a shift from traditional to more modern country music. Modern artist Carrie Underwood
shows a significant shift from traditional to modern country music in her 2005 song, "Before He
Cheats." Although there is not complete feminism inserted into her song, being a liberated woman is
feminist. For example, Underwood reaps the benefits of the sexual revolution and the feminist
movement without her music being feminist. This change in modern country music causes the lyric
content, sound, stage performance, and artist clothing to also change from the traditional artists. The
"Before He Cheats" lyrics below will show a change in the lyric content and sound:
"Right now he 's probably slow dancing with a bleached–blond tramp,
And she 's probably getting frisky...
...And he don 't know

Similarities Between Alan Jackson And George Strait
There have been many stars throughout the years in country music. Two of the most iconic are Alan
Jackson and George Strait. Alan Jackson hit his peak in the late 90s and early 2000s. He has not
been as productive as of 2015, but he is still creating some music. George Strait was most
productive in the mid to early 90s and like Alan he is at the end of his career. Country music was
dramatically affected by these two and they both did it with class. They always made music that was
family friendly and anyone could listen to it. Since Alan and George are in the same business there
are going to be many similarities between the two. The first and probably most well known, is that

George is like many singers today, and that is because he never wrote any of the music he
performed. He did write a couple of his songs, but the majority of them where written for him by
songwriters. Alan Jackson on the other hand wrote most of his music (Thompson, B). He has written
over a hundred songs and continues to write music today. He did have a few of his big hits like Pop
a Top or Write on the Money written for him, but for the most part Alan has written most of his
content. So what are these two country legends, Alan Jackson and George Strait, doing as of 2016?
Both have been somewhat active as far as creating music, but neither of them have been working on
any new albums. George Strait does have three more albums on his record label deal though, so he
will be releasing a new album eventually (Scott, M). Also George started a show in Las Vegas,

But not willingly, and I'll grumble while not doing it. Many relationships go through this same sort
of scenario at some point and how they weather it becomes the baseline for how that relationship
develops. We should force ourselves to take a step back and look at things in our hot headed
moments when arguments arise and attempt to apply empathy for an opposite point of view.
Compromise is this weird word with a bunch of taboo swirling around it. Inevitably, it gets lumped
in with the bad factors of a relationship, but it isn't as bad as it's painted half the time. The simple
fact is that some compromise is essential and regardless of your convictions, compromising with the
one you love is the proverbial honorable thing to do. Staying mindful of the reasons you are with
your other in the first place don't hurt either. So often we fall into the monotony of living and
become complacent and comfortable in our routines, sometimes taking for granted the person we're

Essay On Soul Tour
On the 23 of September 2017 around 7:30pm I went and saw Tim McGraw and Faith Hill preform
their Soul 2 Soul tour at the Sprint Center in Kansas City, Missouri. I have never seen either of the
two preform live in concert only on shows like the Country Music awards until this date. Having
been a fan of country music and growing up in a family who has always been fans of this genera of
music, I have listened to them both since and have been a huge fan of them each since. I wanted to
see them live not only being a fan of the two artists separately, but also this is the first time they
have toured together in quite a while, if not the first, so it would not only be a once in a lifetime
event but also a chance to see two of my favorite artists ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It seemed at the start of the show they sang songs that where at the start of their music careers and
progressed through their career. They sang each song as a duet no matter if it was a Tim or Faith
song. My favorite song of the night was Tim's "Stay Humble and Kind" and Faith's "I need you",
which was an encore song. During the encore everyone thought that the show was over, but Tim
came out into the Stadium seat and Faith walked through the floor seats and they sang. The special
effects added even more to the experience. I would go back and see the same exact show if I had the
chance. The crowd was a very respectful crowd. For me it did not seem to be the stereotypical
crowd that you would imagine at a summer concert that this was. People where up and singing and
dancing to the music and where having an overall good time listening to the music. The crowd
ranged from little kids to adults, but everyone was almost in unison with the music, it's a weird thing
to experience. From where my family where sitting we did not see that much alcohol being drank
and even less intoxicated people. With this you could really enjoy the show without having to deal
with annoying drunk fans. If you accidently bump into someone they where respectful and
apologized. You could talk to your family and Tim and Faith would encourage you to sing along to
the music by stopping mid song and you would sing without them.

Descriptive Essay About A Concert
It's hard to believe it was only two years ago. Two years ago that I saw my at the time favorite
country artist in concert. My mind was racing with thoughts before and after the show. I had so
much fun and I will never forget how happy I was and how much I appreciated my mama and step–
dad for being able to do this for me because they knew I really wanted to go. My first concert,
seeing Keith Urban is one I will never ever forget.
The drive to Summerfest was amazing. My step–dad and my mama were playing a bunch of Keith
Urban songs, it was really loud, and everyone was screaming in the car. Before i knew it, we were
there. I was at Summerfest about to go enjoy my first concert. When we got there we had to get our
actual tickets before we could go in.
When we got in we got some drinks and then we went to our seats. We were in the red section which
is the closest section. We weren't in the first row though, and it didn't even matter, being there was
more than I could've ever asked for. The first person to play before Keith Urban was a group called
Dan and Shay. We arrived a little late, so we didn't get to see them but, we did get to see the next
performer, Phillip Phillips.
Hearing Phillip Phillips perform wasn't as exciting as I thought it would be. Don't get me wrong, I
love him as an artist and his music is amazing, but I didn't find him playing life the greatest. I don't
remember much of it either. I remember one song that he performed and that was his song Gone

Carrie Underwood's Beliefs
Faith, baptism, and worship are just a few words that embody Carrie Underwood's lifestyle and

began in her church choir. From there her talent and fame only escalated. She came into the public's
eye in 2004 when she auditioned and later won season 4 of American Idol– earning her college
credit towards a Mass Communications degree that she graduated with shortly after her win ("Carrie

Underwood wrote the song along with Chris DeStefano and Brett James. The water in this song
refers to the water of baptism and when it comes to "water," Underwood immerses herself in a
redemptive story–song, which tells of her decision to turn to God for guidance in the first place. She
recalls being dunked in her small hometown church and how proud she was the day she was
baptized (Scott "Carrie Underwood"). The song finds Underwood revisiting the turning to God of
her hit single "Jesus, Take The Wheel." In this instance she is singing about water baptism. At the
end of her song she also includes the classic hymn "Amazing Grace." By doing this Underwood
examines her placement as a mainstream trendsetter and potential Christian–country crossover star
(Scott "Carrie Underwood"). Though we have learned Underwood is clearly no stranger to singing
about her beliefs, she said in a past interview she has come under criticism for working on such
songs as "Something In The Water" and "Jesus, Take The Wheel" (Koonse "Carrie Underwood").
That hasn't held her back though; Underwood tells us that country music is different in a way that
there is a "Bible Belt–ness" about it. That certainly seems to be the truth as she manages to create
remarkable one–of–a–kind hits while incorporating her most valued

Analysis Of The Movie ' White Liar ' By Miranda Lambert
Picking Up the Pieces Picking Up the Pieces is the film being produced to document my life. I have
never put much thought into how my life would be portrayed or even documented. However, as I sit
here thinking about what music I would use for the soundtrack, I start thinking about all of the
things that I have been through in my life. All of those hurdles that I had to climb over and the songs
that have so much meaning start to flow through my mind. There are many songs to choose from,
but I narrow them down to the top four that I feel set the mood of how I have picked up the pieces of
my life from a tragic divorce and moved on to now being a thriving non–traditional college student
seeking to become a Hospitality Manager. The first song that I have chosen is "White Liar" by
Miranda Lambert because this song represents what I went through during my very tragic divorce.
Lambert is an American country music artist who co–wrote this song with Natalie Hemby. The song
was released in August of 2009. The reason I chose this song is because the words remind me of
what I went through when I found out that my husband of six years had been cheating on me and
how I felt. Lambert sings, "Hey white liar, the truth comes out a little at a time and it spreads just
like a fire." My husband had been cheating on me and the entire time, I sensed something was
wrong, but he continued to tell me that I was wrong. According to him, they were just friends. In
reality, I too was also a white liar

Describe The Similarities Between Womack And Lee Anna Mcbride
1. Martina McBride was able to crank out three top charting records in one year: "Love's the Only
House," "I Love You," and "There You Are." There's so much love coming from that woman! She
was able to have a huge following relate to her, and hence, made her the number one chick in
Country music.
2. Dixie Chicks also was able to lead three records to the top of the Country charts. As a group, they
wrote, "Goodbye Earl," "Cold Day in July," and "Without You." They took more of the loss inspired
route. Either way, they made it out handsomely by the end of the year.
3. Lee Ann Womack had her greatest hit yet with, "I Hope You Dance." She collaborated with Sons
of the Desert on this project. Fifteen years later, it's still a staple song to play for special occasions
today. Her other hit from that year was, "Ashes By Now." ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Brad Paisley and Country Music Essay
When country music began in America, there were no professional musicians. The typical musician
sang only to entertain himself, his family or at local events. There is evidence of square dance–like
events as far back as the 1830s (with origins in European country dancing). At first, most country
music was either sung by itself or played on a lone fiddle or banjo. A good fiddler was a very
popular person and was often asked to perform at events ranging from weddings to cattle drives.
There was no concerted effort to preserve the songs played, but the songs that people loved lasted as
they were passed from town to town or generation to generation. Songs traveled with wandering

In other types of country music you might hear the accordion, the harmonica, the piano, washboards
or drums which didn't become popular till the 1960‘s but are used a lot in today‘s bands. Country
music began in music styles brought over by the European settlers. In medieval times, storytelling
was a tradition that allowed history to be recorded when few were able to read and write. When the
first British settlers came to America, they brought this tradition with them, along with songs they
had learned in Europe. The people who settled in the Appalachian Mountains and the West did not
have an easy life and their music was their only outlet. While country music began with ballads (a
narrative that is sung) and songs of the British Isles, it changed in content and personality as it grew
in America. The British songs were objective, often resembling gruesome stories. They had many
themes of the supernatural, avenging spirits, loves found and lost, and violent happenings. In
America, the songs became very subjective and personal, downplayed the supernatural, and, in
songs of crimes, emphasized the evil acts while minimizing the gore. When the songs had to do with
love gone bad, the American's ballad removed the violence and gruesomeness. The change may
have been due to the philosophy of the Southern lifestyle. Another characteristic of the American
ballad is the addition of moral ending to songs.

Music Video Analysis: Two Black Cadillacs
There have always been, and there will always be music videos about girls being left heartbroken by
a cheating man. Carrie Underwood could have played the broken girl left behind with her song
"Two Black Cadillacs." Yet, her music video of "Two Black Cadillacs," produced by Mark Bright,
presents a dark scene of two women cheated on by the same man, who appear to be anything but
heartbroken. This thrilling video is a lot different than most because of the women's portrayal as the
anti–hero, throughout the video Underwood is driving her black Cadillac, wearing dark make up,
high black heels, and black clothes. She appears passionate and fierce, making viewers want to

From start to finish the music video is completely grey and mysterious as two women are driving
small blacked out cars around a cemetery about to attend a funeral. These type lurid effects on the
video suggest something bad or eerie has happened. I think the dark effects are there to really
emphasize this incredibly large secret that these two women are sharing. Although they never speak
to each other the whole video, you see them both driving close by in their dark black cars showing
that there is a connection between them. As they are heading to the mans funeral the dusky overtone
leads you to believe they were somehow involved with this death and Underwood mentions, "He's
not the only one who had a secret to hide" (1:28). The reason this music video and song is different
than most about being cheated on is that you see the women as villains or anti–heroes. The women
are getting even with the person who did them wrong, but murder is something so intense its
horrifying to think of it as a

  • 2. Musical Autobiography My life has always been centered around music even before I was born. Music is a big part of whom I am because it something I can go to and play on the piano when I am stressed or sad. Music for me is a calming force that helps solve my emotions. Music is such an important role in my life because at a very young age I watched my mother play the piano which in time made me want to learn as well. Throughout my life, I have learned to play the piano and the flute and wished I knew how to play the cello and the oboe. I grew up in a family who loved music. Ever since I was in first grade, I could read music and started to learn to play the piano. There was always a piano in our house, and every Sunday morning, my mother would play the organ at ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... My high school music teacher was a major influence on what I like to listen to now. In ninth grade, I had a music appreciation class where we had two assignments that really helped shape my musical tastes. The first one we were told to make a playbill on a Broadway musical we liked but prior to that class I had never been to Broadway. My partner and I chose to do ours on Wicked which is now one of my favorite albums to listen to and I hope I get to see in person someday. This assignment started my love for all things Broadway. The second assignment we had in that class was a report we had to do on one of our favorite artists. I had done mine on the Rascal Flatts but the really changed my opinion on music from that assignment was the peer pressure of my class to like rock music and rap. To this day I still don't like to listen to rap but I have learned to like rock music. The music I like to listen today ranges from Contemporary Christian music with artists like Matthew West, Newsboys and Francesca Battistelli to Rock bands like Bon Jovi and Journey. I still hold some country bands like Reba McEntire and the Rascal Flatts dear to my heart but they are not the only genre that I hold dear to my heart. There are a lot of artists that I no longer like to listen to some of them include Taylor Swift and the Gaither Vocal ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Another example is when the Dixie Chicks are interviewed after the release of their new song Not Ready to Make Nice. The interviewer says that public opinion has changed much in the past three years and that Bush's ratings have gone down. Natalie replies that they were compelled to write their newest album. This shows the audience the band's determination to stick with their opinions and that Bush's support has decreased while the band's support has endured. In Spinal Tap, there are several instances in where the band is interviewed. It is relayed to the audience that several drummers that were once apart of Spinal Tap have all died under mysterious circumstances. • 13. The Live Performance Of Dolly Parton's Just Because I 'm A... Dolly represents the social inequality that was a main problem during this era. The live performance of Dolly Parton's "Just Because I'm A Woman," shows artist sound, performance, and clothing for the traditional era. The sound of her song started softly and the pitch increased as it reached the chorus. Dolly Parton showed much more emotion and energy than Tammy Wynette portrayed in her song. In addition, Dolly Parton dressed conservatively wearing a dressy church dress as she performed. Parton, a traditional artist, represented the traditional era with her conservative clothing; however, she went against the norm when she began questioning gender roles. There is a shift from traditional to more modern country music. Modern artist Carrie Underwood shows a significant shift from traditional to modern country music in her 2005 song, "Before He Cheats." Although there is not complete feminism inserted into her song, being a liberated woman is feminist. For example, Underwood reaps the benefits of the sexual revolution and the feminist movement without her music being feminist. This change in modern country music causes the lyric content, sound, stage performance, and artist clothing to also change from the traditional artists. The "Before He Cheats" lyrics below will show a change in the lyric content and sound: "Right now he 's probably slow dancing with a bleached–blond tramp, And she 's probably getting frisky... ...And he don 't know That I dug my key into the side Of ... • 29. Song Analysis Of Chicken Fried By Zac Brown I have chosen a song that I would say is a country song. It is actually a song that I have known for many years and that I actually taken ato. This song would be "Chicken Fried" by Zac Brown. In this song, Brown sings about things such as enjoying his evenings with family and getting to dine on his favorite meals, being raised in the South, and giving thanks to God and the people who fought for the freedom of our nation. In the chorus, he is described to the listener that he is with his family, and presumably friends as well, enjoying each other's company on a Friday night. He also explained getting to eat some fried chicken, drink beer, and listen to the radio. He then mentions that he was born and raised in Georgia Pine. Then in the next ... • 30. Analysis Of The Movie ' White Liar ' By Miranda Lambert Picking Up the Pieces Picking Up the Pieces is the film being produced to document my life. I have never put much thought into how my life would be portrayed or even documented. However, as I sit here thinking about what music I would use for the soundtrack, I start thinking about all of the things that I have been through in my life. All of those hurdles that I had to climb over and the songs that have so much meaning start to flow through my mind. There are many songs to choose from, but I narrow them down to the top four that I feel set the mood of how I have picked up the pieces of my life from a tragic divorce and moved on to now being a thriving non–traditional college student seeking to become a Hospitality Manager. The first song that I have chosen is "White Liar" by Miranda Lambert because this song represents what I went through during my very tragic divorce. Lambert is an American country music artist who co–wrote this song with Natalie Hemby. The song was released in August of 2009. The reason I chose this song is because the words remind me of what I went through when I found out that my husband of six years had been cheating on me and how I felt. Lambert sings, "Hey white liar, the truth comes out a little at a time and it spreads just like a fire." My husband had been cheating on me and the entire time, I sensed something was wrong, but he continued to tell me that I was wrong. According to him, they were just friends. In reality, I too was also a white liar ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 32. Brad Paisley and Country Music Essay When country music began in America, there were no professional musicians. The typical musician sang only to entertain himself, his family or at local events. There is evidence of square dance–like events as far back as the 1830s (with origins in European country dancing). At first, most country music was either sung by itself or played on a lone fiddle or banjo. A good fiddler was a very popular person and was often asked to perform at events ranging from weddings to cattle drives. There was no concerted effort to preserve the songs played, but the songs that people loved lasted as they were passed from town to town or generation to generation. Songs traveled with wandering minstrels and soldiers as well as those who moved across the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In other types of country music you might hear the accordion, the harmonica, the piano, washboards or drums which didn't become popular till the 1960‘s but are used a lot in today‘s bands. Country music began in music styles brought over by the European settlers. In medieval times, storytelling was a tradition that allowed history to be recorded when few were able to read and write. When the first British settlers came to America, they brought this tradition with them, along with songs they had learned in Europe. The people who settled in the Appalachian Mountains and the West did not have an easy life and their music was their only outlet. While country music began with ballads (a narrative that is sung) and songs of the British Isles, it changed in content and personality as it grew in America. The British songs were objective, often resembling gruesome stories. They had many themes of the supernatural, avenging spirits, loves found and lost, and violent happenings. In America, the songs became very subjective and personal, downplayed the supernatural, and, in songs of crimes, emphasized the evil acts while minimizing the gore. When the songs had to do with love gone bad, the American's ballad removed the violence and gruesomeness. The change may have been due to the philosophy of the Southern lifestyle. Another characteristic of the American ballad is the addition of moral ending to songs. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 33. Music Video Analysis: Two Black Cadillacs There have always been, and there will always be music videos about girls being left heartbroken by a cheating man. Carrie Underwood could have played the broken girl left behind with her song "Two Black Cadillacs." Yet, her music video of "Two Black Cadillacs," produced by Mark Bright, presents a dark scene of two women cheated on by the same man, who appear to be anything but heartbroken. This thrilling video is a lot different than most because of the women's portrayal as the anti–hero, throughout the video Underwood is driving her black Cadillac, wearing dark make up, high black heels, and black clothes. She appears passionate and fierce, making viewers want to know what is really going through her mind. While Underwood is in her car, there is another woman who drives the exact same black Cadillac. They ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... From start to finish the music video is completely grey and mysterious as two women are driving small blacked out cars around a cemetery about to attend a funeral. These type lurid effects on the video suggest something bad or eerie has happened. I think the dark effects are there to really emphasize this incredibly large secret that these two women are sharing. Although they never speak to each other the whole video, you see them both driving close by in their dark black cars showing that there is a connection between them. As they are heading to the mans funeral the dusky overtone leads you to believe they were somehow involved with this death and Underwood mentions, "He's not the only one who had a secret to hide" (1:28). The reason this music video and song is different than most about being cheated on is that you see the women as villains or anti–heroes. The women are getting even with the person who did them wrong, but murder is something so intense its horrifying to think of it as a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
