Rotary Screw Air Compensor Case Study
On August 1, 2016, at 12:24 p.m., this Field Investigator travelled to the Bakersfield area in pursuit
of further background information about the insured's Rotary Screw Air Compressor that Mr.
Simranjit Singh Deol owned when it caught fire on 6/10/2016. Throughout this investigation, we
discovered that Mr. Deol owned and operated Superior Well Drillers Inc. and Hydrotech Solutions,
LLC. During the time of loss Hydrotech Solutions, LLC was running the compressor during the
DOL. Also added, Mr. Deol was found to have part ownership with his business partner, Dhillon
Kamaljit Singh, as they operated West Valley and Pump, Inc., together. During our interview with

Dhillon said he went into the drilling business to conduct domestic wells to dig wells on farm lands
in the Kern Valley to draw–up natural water for the farmers who would hire them to dig wells on
their property. He said he had established West Valley and Pump Inc. in January 2015 with business
partners, Simranjit Singh Deol and Deppinder Greywel who had vested their shares of monies into
the firm. He said from the beginning of their company; he considered the company as a start–up
company where they did not do too much drilling. He said he could not say how wells they had dug
when they owned one drilling and two compressors. He said the one in question was 2001, Atlas
Copco XASE 1600CD T/A Rotary Screw Air as the second compressor was an Ingersoll Rand air
compressor. He said he purchased the Atlas Copco because it is an essential piece of equipment for
the type of business they were in, without it, the drilling rig would be inoperable. Mr. Dhillon said
he purchased the Atlas Compressor when he won an online bid through online auctions through
Ritchie Brothers website in August 2015. He recalls that the winning bid was in the high $90,000.00
which he had paid in full. He said the compressor came as is and came without a

More than one out of five women will have some form of cardiovascular disease (Women's Heart
Center, 2017) (Disparities in Health Heart Disease in African American Women, 2017).
Heart disease claims the lives of more women than men each year, yet women only make up 25% of
participants in heart–related research studies. While this is improving, women remain under–
represented in many studies that have set the standard for detection and treatment of cardiovascular
disease. Even though valuable information about heart disease has been gathered, the model of
detecting cardiovascular disease has been based on and designed for men. Not all the data have been
applicable to women so this is hard to narrow down (Women's Heart Center, 2017) (Disparities in

Essay Sexual Content in the Bluest Eye
The novel The Bluest Eye written by Toni Morrison is subjected on a young girl, Pecola Breedlove
and her experiences growing up in a poor black family. The life depicted is one of poverty, ridicule,
and dissatisfaction of self. Pecola feels ugly because of her social status as a poor young black girl
and longs to have blue eyes, the pinnacle of beauty and worth. Throughout the book, Morrison
touches on controversial subjects, such as the depicting of Pecola's father raping her, Mrs.
Breedlove's sexual feelings toward her husband, and Pecola's menstruation. The book's content is
controversial on many levels and it has bred conflict among its readers.

He said, "I believe in objective truth. It is impossible to teach morality apart from the church (Hunn

Since the election and controversy of the candidate's views on The Bluest Eye issue, Chad Vegas
was elected onto the board. According to The Bakersfield Californian, "The win adds Vegas, a self–
described right–wing republican, to an already conservative board." Parent Anna Agenjo says, "I
think he has a very narrow point of view. He feels only books that have uncontroversial topics
should be taught in the high school district (Hunn A1)."
Some believe that Vegas' standpoint and religious convictions are `narrow–minded' and unnecessary
in dealing with the issue of book banning. Yet Vegas declares himself he doesn't believe The Bluest
Eye should be banned completely from High School reading lists (Vegas). He believes the district
should use the Supplemental Literature Selection Form, which is used by teacher to approve books
for reading in the classroom.
In accordance with the selection form the teacher must specify for what grade level the book will be
intended for and must cite any controversial content dealing with offensive language, sexual
references and the like before the book can be approved for classroom use (Supplemental Lit.
Form). Vegas promotes this system of book evaluation in keeping sexual explicit books out of the
classroom.

Community Health and Population Focused
Nursing Practice
Denise Bishop
Western Governors University
Abstract
This paper will explore a community health concern from a population focused nursing perspective.
The health concern will be a relevant and validated health concern for the community indicated. The
relevancy was determined by the Health People 2020 (HP2020) health indicators and the validation
of the concern was compared to past objectives being met and current objectives working forward,
and the gap in satisfying the target goals set forth ("2020 Topics & Objectives – Objectives A–Z |
Healthy People 2020," 2015). A major force in the community of concern is the Kern County Public
Health ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I chose this population due to the large numbers, the poverty level, and the risk for obesity.
Statistically, the Hispanic/Latino school aged population rated one of the lowest populations to be
physically fit. They also ranked lower on fruit and vegetable consumption. Hispanic/Latinos also
have a very low prevalence of higher education compared to the other races and ethnicities. They
also rank highest in languages other than English spoken at home ("Healthy Kern County:: Better
health through community," 2015). If there is a high adult obesity problem, children are at risk
because they are at the mercy of the adult food choices and activity examples they set, because it is
usually the adults purchasing the food in the home. Contributing factors to the risk for overweight or
obesity, the low fruit and vegetable intake, and the low activity can be attributed to cultural norms,
language barriers, and lack of money to buy healthier options. Other factors include unsafe
neighborhoods and lack of activity outside of school and ease of purchasing less healthy foods. The
change in the education system over the years has led to decreased activity time. Attention to test
scores has taken precedence over teaching about health (Espinosa–Hall et al., 2007). Also, in Kern
County, the climate is a contributing factor to outdoor activities, with temperatures in the high 90's
and over 100 degrees during the summer ("Bakersfield,

How To Write A Narrative Essay About Moving
As much as we would like to, we can't plan for everything. Long before we're even aware of them,
these things happen and it's only within our control to make the best of it. One way I've made the
most out of a decision I couldn't control was when my parents moved us from Naperville, Illinois, a
place I grew up and lived in for 15 years of my life, to Bakersfield, California. The thought of
change scared me because Naperville was the only place I had ever known.
The first time the idea of moving was brought up was when I was in fifth grade. One day, my
parents asked out of the blue how I would feel about moving away. My immediate response was of
course no, why would I want to move? I loved my school, my teachers, my house, and most
importantly my friends. I had everything I wanted. They didn't push much after that, they weren't
too serious about it after all. My mom had received a job offer in a different state but they both
agreed that with how young my siblings and I were, now was not the right time for us to move.
I never expected the topic to be brought up again. I always thought I would graduate from the same
high school both of my siblings did with my best friends at my side. I was shocked when sophomore

burned into mind. After hugging the life out of all of my friends and kissing the walls of my
childhood home, it was time to leave. The plane ride from O'Hare Airport to LAX was the longest
four hours of my life. I remember listening to the playlist Julia made for me before I left the entire
flight. I couldn't believe this was happening. My whole world was about to be flipped around and I

A Visit At The Bakersfield College Essay
A visit that I would like to discuss was with my 21 years old Native American female and her
newborn son in her home. The purpose of this home visit was to check how the infant was doing
because he was in the NICU after birth to rule out sepsis and also to check how the mother was
doing after the birth of her first child. She lives in her parent's house with her siblings and boyfriend,
and total seven people live in that house. The new mother is currently is not working, but she is
taking classes at the Bakersfield College. Her family is supportive, and the baby's father is involved
in the care of the Infant. Approximately 1/3 of Native Americans live in poverty and experience the
conditions related to poor living conditions such as tuberculosis, malnourishment, and higher
maternal and infant death rates (Allender, Rector, & Warner, 2014). Some of the common highest
ranking health problems seen in Native American children are SIDS, congenital anomalies, obesity,
type II diabetes, and morbidity and mortality related to injuries (Allender et al., 2014). Poor hygiene,
packed housing conditions, and low immunization leads to the incidence of a variety of contagious
diseases in Native Americans (Allender et al., 2014). Native Americans prefer customary healing
and folk medicines compared to the Western medicine; they use plants and herbs to cure illnesses
(Allender et al., 2014). During this visit, I completed physical assessment of the Infant, completed

Winter Break Research Paper
During the winter break, I did a lot of things and I spent most of the time with my family and
friends. One of the things, I did during the break was to go meet my uncle in Hayward, California. It
was a very long drive but it was worth it. When we went there I met cousins who I haven't seen for a
long time. Then my cousins and I went to the mall to do some shopping. Then on our way back from
the mall, we went to theater to watch a movie. We spent our Christmas in Hayward and I got a lot of
presents. Then we came back to Bakersfield one day after Christmas. Second thing, I did was that I
went to go meet my elementary friend. She wanted me to come over to her house. So I went to her
house and we did a lot of stuff. First, we baked cupcakes and cookies. Then we watched a movie
and after that we played ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

airport. On our way back from the airport, we stopped at In–N–Out Burger to get something to eat.
They stayed in Bakersfield for 5 days. We planned a party for the New Year's which was pretty fun.
One night we planned to stay awake the whole night just to see if we can stay awake. But none of us
stayed awake for the whole night. When all the days passed and they had to leave, I was pretty sad
that they were leaving. In the spare that I had in this break, I watched T.V, listened to music, and
read books. When there was only one days left of winter break. I was sad because I didn't want to go

Local Government Report : The Bakersfield City Council...
For my local government report, I watched the Bakersfield City Council meeting that was held on

Mayor Bob Smith, and council members Willie Rivera, Andrae Gonzales, and Chris Parlier. This
meeting was about the traffic incidents that have occurred and how public officials need to do
everything possible to help. Even though it is up to the citizens to be safe, the public officials need
to do everything possible to reduce this tragedy.

mile traveled in 2012 nationally, the number of deaths on motorcycles was more than 26 times the
number in cars. Motorcycle deaths accounted for 13% of all motor vehicle crash deaths in 2013.
Drivers are being very unsafe. According to the report, there has been over 12,000 red light citations
and over 6,000 speeding citations. This is major problem in our community and needs to be fixed.
The public officials discussed how driving is not a place to play or to be distracted. Though it is up
to the citizens to be safe, the public officials believe they need to everything the can to ensure safety.
What the public officials believe they can do to fix this problem is install a vision zero plan. Los
Angeles has already installed a vision zero plan which is blueprinted to reduce fatalities by 20
percent in 2020, and by 2025 have no traffic fatalities. The vision zero plan is a traffic safety project
which tries to make a highway system with no fatalities. The vision zero policy work is focusing on

Essay On City Council Meeting
The process of the City Council meeting was very interesting and long. There were many things that
I learned in this meeting because it was the first meeting that I have been to for the city. Everything
was planned and very organized in the meeting and they go down a schedule or list of what they will
do first. The Mayor of the city of Bakersfield is the one to begin the meeting, but he was absent the
day that I went so Vice Mayor Harold Hanson took his spot. He mentioned how the Mayor had not
missed a meeting in such a long time that he can not even remember the last time he got to take his
place. Hearing what the Vice Mayor said about the Mayor showed the residents of Bakersfield and I
how important and how serious the Mayor takes his job. It showed that the Mayor really cares for
the people of Bakersfield even though many disagree with me. Vice Mayor Harold Hanson begins
with an introduction the meeting by welcoming everyone and announcing that Mayor Hall is going
to be absent. There was not a lot of people like I was expecting, but it was still very interesting to

The Importance Of Volunteering At The Bakersfield Spca
I had the opportunity to volunteer at the Bakersfield SPCA. Volunteering here was very rewarding
as I was able to provide care for cats and dogs who may never get adopted. My responsibilities
consisted of cleaning the cats' kennels and making them presentable to any potential adopters. This
consisted of wiping the outside of the kennels and replacing the cat litter boxes so the cats would
have a clean place to use. I also cleaned the inside of the kennels and provided them with water and
food. Through this process I began meeting the cats as they would approach me to see what was

Such as climbing structures, scratching post or a place to run (2/26/17). In an attempt to meet the
cat's telos I got to spend time grooming and socializing the animals in an effort to make them more
sociable which would make them more adoptable.
I also provided the dogs with the opportunity to get out of their small enclosure and to feel the grass
underneath their paws. While speaking to one of the workers I was told that the animals do not get
to come out of their kennels to often because, since the shelter is a nonprofit shelter they depend a
lot on the donations from the public. Which means that they can only hire the exact amount of
people that will help perform the necessary duties but they lack the extra help that can help with
taking the dogs out or grooming the cats. For this reason, they depend greatly on the community to
go in and volunteer.
"Animal shelters and the community" The Bakersfield SPCA is one of the smallest shelters within
Bakersfield. They depend greatly on the community to help sponsor animals. This means that the
community members, depending on the type of animal, will provide a starting kit which include
food, bedding, and a scratching post to the adopters. The animals who were sponsor by the
community are cats that are older or have been at the shelter longer than the rest. This is a form of
trying to save as many animals as possible by defining the animal as a shelter "mascot" (3/28/2017).
Which will give those animals

Rhetorical Analysis
The art of quoting and summarizing an argument is one of the main skills to acquire when it comes
to writing a successful piece of work. In the book, They Say I Say the art of inserting quotations is
mentioned to be one of the highest mistakes made by writers. Many insert a quote that has no frame
of introduction or background information which is considered a "hit and run quote." Readers need
to be able to comprehend not only the writings, but the background information and quotes from
another author writing in order to have the whole work cohesive. Dire necessity for the writer is to
go back to the initial text and truly understand the background from which they are quoting to make
sure their audience understands the quote and why ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In discussions of hometown politics, the most controversial issue has been the intentions of both the
Republican and Democratic parties. On one hand the Democrats support the social and political
equality of all people. On the other hand, Republicans identify with a system where the citizens can
choose who will represent them. Thus, constant aggressive behaviors from both parties has become
entirely acceptable. Where this argument usually ends however, is now that Republican Trump is

The Research Issue
All cities are faced with the complicated issue of addressing housing needs for their population.
Even more complex are the needs of the city's low income neighborhoods and residents. In addition,
according to the article, "Social Inequities in Environmental Risks Associated with Housing and
Residential Location–A Review of Evidence" by Braubacth and Fairburn, there is a, "strong link
between housing characteristics and health." To help address these issues and protect the health of
our citizens, the City of Bakersfield receives grant funds from the U.S. Department of Housing and

UC Davis like Bakersfield is a community that relies on its rich industrialized and subsistence

Instructional Assistant Personal Statement
Since I remember, I always wanted to be a teacher. For instance, my dream came true at the very
young age of 19 years old. In my country, Guatemala, I got my Vocational Teaching Credential.
Unfortunately, my long–awaited dream ended too soon. Six years later, my life completely changed
when I moved to the United States.
My Vocational Teaching Credential and six years of experience working in an Elementary school
were worthless, because I didn't speak any English at all. The language barrier was a huge obstacle,

Purpose
The purpose of this proposal is to request Kathleen M. Knutzen, Vice President of Academic Affairs
to give the approval for a comprehensive study regarding the file–sharing accessibility from the
library's database in order to establish whether considering a reduction in the library's journal budget
to subsidize legal file–sharing access is a feasible option or not.

The legal file–sharing access for students will be of a great benefit to both the students and the
institution at large. It simply means accessibility of first–hand information from credible resources
by each and every student at the institution. The proposal will focus on the possibility of subsidizing
the legal file–sharing access at the cost of the library's journal budget reduction.
The proposal will include a three–day research, which will be conducted by myself. It will engage
students, teachers, and the dean of the library as study samples to gather relevant information
concerning the viability of the proposed subsidization and what it will mean to diverse stakeholders
in the institution.
The following are four questions of the further research:
1. How do the students view the approach? Do they consider it academically strategic? Or do they
prefer it just the way it is?
2. How will the legal file–sharing access for students benefit students and teachers at large?
3. Will the protocol of setting up the legal file–sharing require a lot of investment? If yes, what is the
cost of operating and maintaining the database?
4. How long will it take to set up the legal file–sharing point?
Proposed Tasks
With your approval, I will address the following six tasks in order of succession to establish whether
considering a reduction in the library's journal budget to subsidize the

A Short Story : The Story Of My Mothers
As we were all gathered around at my mother's birthday, her sisters brought up the funny memories
that happened along the way traveling to Bakersfield. None of my cousins or I knew the real story or
reason on why we were sitting around waiting for cake in over one hundred degree weather, and we
were all very curious. However even though we did not know the story about their migration or how
it happened, we were all very grateful for the sacrifices and harsh decisions my family must have
made in search for a better life.
My mother grew up in the large and crowded Mexico City, the capital of Mexico. She grew up in a
large two story house with her two younger sisters, Gabriela and Beatriz, along with her mother and
father. Getting home from school was her favorite part as her neighbors would greet her with
homemade doughnuts that could easily be smell from a few blocks down. She described them as
extremely fluffy, warm, powdery, and most importantly delicious. For fun, she would build large
forts with her younger sisters, which her mother definitely did not appreciate, but it was fun while it
lasted. After picking up and unhanging the large sheets from just about everywhere, she would go
outside, and play different sports, and activities with her cousins and neighbors until it was dark and
did so everyday.
My mother grew up with big dreams one day wanting to start her own successful business.
However, she was aware of the significant language barrier since most

Descriptive Experience Of A Restaurant
The Wool Growers Basque Restaurant is located on the East side of Bakersfield. The location is in a
bad part of town. The outside of the building doesn't look very appealing and the location is

parking lot.
When I entered the restaurant I encounter a heavy crowd in the bar section. I was shocked to see
only white people from old to middle age. As I was walking down the hall to the dining area, I could
see many pictures of family generations. My classmates were there already, so we sat down and
ordered our meals. The place was packed! It seems like this is a very traditional family restaurant.
All the tables were occupied with grandparents, parents, and children. I could guess, there were
about 150 people, and only Eva, Angie, Mirna, the waiter and I were Mexicans! I'm assuming that
many of the clientele has been going to this restaurant as a family tradition. It was a neat experience.
The food was good.

Colleen Dillaway is a Sales and Marketing director for Bright House Networks. She has over 15

skills and media relations. She has a history working with ABC, CBS, NBC, and FOX news.
Dillaway showed the class commercials for Bright House and explained the approaches that were
taken to reach different customers. I will apply the concepts Dillaway used and apply them to our
textbook. In chapter 13 Public Relations and Marketing is the main focus. Marketing is the process
of researching, creating, refining, and promoting a product or service and distributing that product or
service to targeted consumers (pg. 402–3). Public relations are the values–driven management of
relationships between an organization and the publics that can affect its success (pg.403). Dillaway
had to collect research to better understand how to gain and keep customers. In the process of her
research she was also able to better advertise Bright House services as well. For example, Dillaway
informed the class how Bright House created a commercial to aim directly at Bakersfield customers
in doing this the commercial was filmed here. Chapter 13 also defines advertising as controlled
media in an attempt to influence the actions of targeted publics. Going back to the Bakersfield

He said he could not say how wells they had dug when they owned one drilling and two compressors. He said the one in question was 2001, Atlas Copco XASE 1600CD T/A Rotary Screw Air as the second compressor was an Ingersoll Rand air compressor. He said he purchased the Atlas Copco because it is an essential piece of equipment for the type of business they were in, without it, the drilling rig would be inoperable. The life depicted is one of poverty, ridicule, and dissatisfaction of self. Pecola feels ugly because of her social status as a poor young black girl and longs to have blue eyes, the pinnacle of beauty and worth. Throughout the book, Morrison touches on controversial subjects, such as the depicting of Pecola's father raping her, Mrs. Breedlove's sexual feelings toward her husband, and Pecola's menstruation. Since the election and controversy of the candidate's views on The Bluest Eye issue, Chad Vegas was elected onto the board. According to The Bakersfield Californian, "The win adds Vegas, a self– described right–wing republican, to an already conservative board." Parent Anna Agenjo says, "I think he has a very narrow point of view. He feels only books that have uncontroversial topics should be taught in the high school district (Hunn A1)." Some believe that Vegas' standpoint and religious convictions are `narrow–minded' and unnecessary in dealing with the issue of book banning. Yet Vegas declares himself he doesn't believe The Bluest Eye should be banned completely from High School reading lists (Vegas). He believes the district should use the Supplemental Literature Selection Form, which is used by teacher to approve books for reading in the classroom. In accordance with the selection form the teacher must specify for what grade level the book will be intended for and must cite any controversial content dealing with offensive language, sexual references and the like before the book can be approved for classroom use (Supplemental Lit. The health concern will be a relevant and validated health concern for the community indicated. The relevancy was determined by the Health People 2020 (HP2020) health indicators and the validation of the concern was compared to past objectives being met and current objectives working forward, and the gap in satisfying the target goals set forth ("2020 Topics & Objectives – Objectives A–Z | Healthy People 2020," 2015). I chose this population due to the large numbers, the poverty level, and the risk for obesity. Statistically, the Hispanic/Latino school aged population rated one of the lowest populations to be physically fit. They also ranked lower on fruit and vegetable consumption. Hispanic/Latinos also have a very low prevalence of higher education compared to the other races and ethnicities. They also rank highest in languages other than English spoken at home ("Healthy Kern County:: Better health through community," 2015). If there is a high adult obesity problem, children are at risk because they are at the mercy of the adult food choices and activity examples they set, because it is usually the adults purchasing the food in the home. Contributing factors to the risk for overweight or obesity, the low fruit and vegetable intake, and the low activity can be attributed to cultural norms, language barriers, and lack of money to buy healthier options. Other factors include unsafe neighborhoods and lack of activity outside of school and ease of purchasing less healthy foods. The change in the education system over the years has led to decreased activity time. Attention to test scores has taken precedence over teaching about health (Espinosa–Hall et al., 2007). Also, in Kern County, the climate is a contributing factor to outdoor activities, with temperatures in the high 90's and over 100 degrees during the summer ("Bakersfield, ... Long before we're even aware of them, these things happen and it's only within our control to make the best of it. One way I've made the most out of a decision I couldn't control was when my parents moved us from Naperville, Illinois, a place I grew up and lived in for 15 years of my life, to Bakersfield, California. The thought of change scared me because Naperville was the only place I had ever known. The first time the idea of moving was brought up was when I was in fifth grade. One day, my parents asked out of the blue how I would feel about moving away. My immediate response was of course no, why would I want to move? I loved my school, my teachers, my house, and most importantly my friends. I had everything I wanted. They didn't push much after that, they weren't too serious about it after all. My mom had received a job offer in a different state but they both agreed that with how young my siblings and I were, now was not the right time for us to move. I never expected the topic to be brought up again. I always thought I would graduate from the same high school both of my siblings did with my best friends at my side. • 17. A Visit At The Bakersfield College Essay A visit that I would like to discuss was with my 21 years old Native American female and her newborn son in her home. The purpose of this home visit was to check how the infant was doing because he was in the NICU after birth to rule out sepsis and also to check how the mother was doing after the birth of her first child. She lives in her parent's house with her siblings and boyfriend, and total seven people live in that house. The new mother is currently is not working, but she is taking classes at the Bakersfield College. Her family is supportive, and the baby's father is involved in the care of the Infant. Approximately 1/3 of Native Americans live in poverty and experience the conditions related to poor living conditions such as tuberculosis, malnourishment, and higher maternal and infant death rates (Allender, Rector, & Warner, 2014). Some of the common highest ranking health problems seen in Native American children are SIDS, congenital anomalies, obesity, type II diabetes, and morbidity and mortality related to injuries (Allender et al., 2014). Poor hygiene, packed housing conditions, and low immunization leads to the incidence of a variety of contagious diseases in Native Americans (Allender et al., 2014). Native Americans prefer customary healing and folk medicines compared to the Western medicine; they use plants and herbs to cure illnesses (Allender et al., 2014). One of the things, I did during the break was to go meet my uncle in Hayward, California. It was a very long drive but it was worth it. When we went there I met cousins who I haven't seen for a long time. Then my cousins and I went to the mall to do some shopping. There were many things that I learned in this meeting because it was the first meeting that I have been to for the city. Everything was planned and very organized in the meeting and they go down a schedule or list of what they will do first. The Mayor of the city of Bakersfield is the one to begin the meeting, but he was absent the day that I went so Vice Mayor Harold Hanson took his spot. He mentioned how the Mayor had not missed a meeting in such a long time that he can not even remember the last time he got to take his place. Hearing what the Vice Mayor said about the Mayor showed the residents of Bakersfield and I how important and how serious the Mayor takes his job. It showed that the Mayor really cares for the people of Bakersfield even though many disagree with me. Volunteering here was very rewarding as I was able to provide care for cats and dogs who may never get adopted. My responsibilities consisted of cleaning the cats' kennels and making them presentable to any potential adopters. This consisted of wiping the outside of the kennels and replacing the cat litter boxes so the cats would have a clean place to use. I also cleaned the inside of the kennels and provided them with water and food. Through this process I began meeting the cats as they would approach me to see what was going on. Such as climbing structures, scratching post or a place to run (2/26/17). In an attempt to meet the cat's telos I got to spend time grooming and socializing the animals in an effort to make them more sociable which would make them more adoptable. I also provided the dogs with the opportunity to get out of their small enclosure and to feel the grass underneath their paws. While speaking to one of the workers I was told that the animals do not get to come out of their kennels to often because, since the shelter is a nonprofit shelter they depend a lot on the donations from the public. Which means that they can only hire the exact amount of people that will help perform the necessary duties but they lack the extra help that can help with taking the dogs out or grooming the cats. For this reason, they depend greatly on the community to go in and volunteer. "Animal shelters and the community" The Bakersfield SPCA is one of the smallest shelters within Bakersfield. They depend greatly on the community to help sponsor animals. This means that the community members, depending on the type of animal, will provide a starting kit which include food, bedding, and a scratching post to the adopters. The animals who were sponsor by the community are cats that are older or have been at the shelter longer than the rest. This is a form of trying to save as many animals as possible by defining the animal as a shelter "mascot" (3/28/2017). Which will give those animals ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 60. A Short Story : The Story Of My Mothers As we were all gathered around at my mother's birthday, her sisters brought up the funny memories that happened along the way traveling to Bakersfield. None of my cousins or I knew the real story or reason on why we were sitting around waiting for cake in over one hundred degree weather, and we were all very curious. However even though we did not know the story about their migration or how it happened, we were all very grateful for the sacrifices and harsh decisions my family must have made in search for a better life. My mother grew up in the large and crowded Mexico City, the capital of Mexico. She grew up in a large two story house with her two younger sisters, Gabriela and Beatriz, along with her mother and father. Getting home from school was her favorite part as her neighbors would greet her with homemade doughnuts that could easily be smell from a few blocks down. She described them as extremely fluffy, warm, powdery, and most importantly delicious. For fun, she would build large forts with her younger sisters, which her mother definitely did not appreciate, but it was fun while it lasted. After picking up and unhanging the large sheets from just about everywhere, she would go outside, and play different sports, and activities with her cousins and neighbors until it was dark and did so everyday. My mother grew up with big dreams one day wanting to start her own successful business. However, she was aware of the significant language barrier since most ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 62. Descriptive Experience Of A Restaurant The Wool Growers Basque Restaurant is located on the East side of Bakersfield. The location is in a bad part of town. The outside of the building doesn't look very appealing and the location is surrounded by old buildings and old neighborhood houses. As I arrived I was surprised to see a full parking lot. When I entered the restaurant I encounter a heavy crowd in the bar section. I was shocked to see only white people from old to middle age. As I was walking down the hall to the dining area, I could see many pictures of family generations. My classmates were there already, so we sat down and ordered our meals. The place was packed! It seems like this is a very traditional family restaurant. All the tables were occupied with grandparents, parents, and children. I could guess, there were about 150 people, and only Eva, Angie, Mirna, the waiter and I were Mexicans! I'm assuming that many of the clientele has been going to this restaurant as a family tradition. It was a neat experience. The food was good. Vallarta Supermarket There are several Vallarta supermarkets in Bakersfield, but I usually frequent the one on Panama Road close to freeway 99. It's cleaner and less crowed. I'm amazed by the large variety of fruits and vegetables. Vallarta has more variety of Mexican and Central American produce than any other stores in Bakersfield. Every time I go there, it reminds me of the Mercado from Mexico. The store's costumers are mainly Hispanic, but I can see a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
