Clinical Decision Support Systems ( Cdss )
Clinical Decision Support Systems (CDSS) can be described as information systems to improve the
decision making ability of people interacting with it(Niès et al., 2010). Hospitals with integrated
Health Information Systems (HIS) are encouraged to utilize CDSS(Jonathan Teich, Saldana, &
Levick, 2012). Multiple fragments such as Electronic Health Record(EHR), laboratory information
system, Computerized Physician Order Entry (CPOE), radiology information system and pharmacy
information system combine together to form an integrated HIS(Niès et al., 2010). Each piece of the
HIS is essential to generate proper CDSS suggestions in the form of on screen alerts, that have been
found to be most effective(Shojania et al., 2009). Diagnostic laboratory testing has been steadily
increasing over time in many medical settings all over the world. Hence, proper laboratory testing is
crucial for better patient health(van Walraven & Naylor, 1998). Laboratory testing of patients can be
inappropriate, and mostly it is repetitive testing(Neilson, 2004). The integrated HIS itself can also be
a factor in encouraging repetitive examination, it can be based on different factors such as, when
there is a disconnect between the HIS workflow and the physician's workflow, test ordered in
another department may not be shown in another department, tests taken by the patient at a different
location of the same hospital group, patient recently taking the test in a different hospital
group(Koppel & Ross,

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Decision Support System
After knowing the benefit and limitation of Decision Support System (DSS), we should consider the
following points before creation of successful DSS. Even the existing system, which are away from
these point, can consider the same for future enhancement. Below are most important factors to
bring success to DSS while using –
1. Timely execution – We need to spend sizeable amount in planning before the execution, proper
focus should be given on each point. System developer should spend good amount in analysing the
existing resource and future requirement. Development should be not for today, I should earmark

Personal Goal : A Social Support System, And Establishing...
Setting a personal goal allows you to decide what you want to achieve in your life over a period of
time. The personal goal for the assigned project I have set for myself reveals handling stress
effectively. I have experienced ulcers in my past, relationship problems, and changes my mood often
due to stress, therefore this explains why I chose my personal goal to handle stress appropriately and
possibly overcome it. The plan of action I chose to help me obtain my goal includes changing my
behavior, creating a social support system, and establishing a reward system. First thing, I realized
in order to tackle this goal I would have to change my behavior. In order to make changes things
have to be done differently, with a new way of doing them. One of the things I decided to change
includes exercising, since exercising produces endorphins and fights to reduce stress. Exercising
was a behavior change for me due to changing my routine and adding more physical activity.
Another example of changing my behavior reveals my thought process. Instead of worrying over
things or situations I have no control over I changed the way I thought and reminded myself the
situation may not be as bad as it appears. Additionally, sleep is an extreme factor when coping with
stress, therefore along the way I searched for ways to help acquire good quality sleep. I found
people can listen to low hertz frequency tones when going to bed and in return it will allow people
who deal with restless sleep to

TRADOC Reg. 350–6." –Policy Letter #14: The Battle Buddy System Why having a battle buddy is
impotent. Why is having a battle buddy important?? There are many reasons why having a battle
buddy is important like, if something bad happens there you have a witness, in a combat situation,
having someone to study with, just to have some to hang out with and talk to, it even adds some
responsibility, have a battle buddy also means you have an extra set of ears, it also decreases the
risks of suicide, and can help a lot reliving stress. If something bad happens you have a witness?
Sexual harassment haves become a pretty big issue in the army, and having a battle buddy can help
prevent that from happening. Let's say you go out with your battle buddy and he/she gets sexually
assaulted and your battle buddy did not have a battle buddy, so there is no proof that that happened
so there is no evidence that this has happened now if they would have had a battle buddy then that
possibly not have happened, but let's say it still did happen, and you were there to witness the sexual
assault that can

Decision Support Systems
Decision Support Systems
Decision support systems are interactive, computer–based systems that aid users in judgment and
choice activities. They provide data storage and retrieval but enhance the traditional information
access and retrieval functions with support for model building and model–based reasoning. They
support framing, modeling, and problem solving.
Typical application areas of DSSs are management and planning in business, health care, the
military, and any area in which management will encounter complex decision situations. Deci– sion
support systems are typically used for strategic and tactical decisions faced by upper–level
management–decisions with a reasonably low frequency and high potential consequences–in which

Understanding Clinical Decision Support System
Understanding Clinical Decision Support System, Its Origin and the Changing Face
The Era has begun where a tremendous amount of data and silos of information are being generated.
The websites, blogs, the electronic health record are all jam–packed with information. Posts from
Facebook, tweets from twitters, interactive websites are a rich source of information. If one can
imagine, information has as much as widespread as the universe. However, what happens to the
heap of information generated? Do we use the information to convert into knowledge and apply it to
our daily life? Are they helping physicians, patients and other clinical staff in their decision making?
The integration of all available information has resulted in Clinical Decision Support System
(CDSS). This system is invented to help the physicians and other clinical staff in decision making
process. But the question again is – are they comfortable using CDSS. What if the users could write
decision rule which would be their own personal experience. If they could write their own rule will
it increase their acceptability? The article answers the questions raised and provides a brief
description of a CDSS developed by the Regenstrief Institute, which is contributing to an altogether
different face of CDSS. This, if successfully launched can result in better acceptability among users,
which can solve other user related or initiated difficulties.
CDSS are basically formulated with the intention to assist

Clinical Decision Support System Analysis
A computer program that several doctors and hospitals are now using to manage patient care is a
clinical decision support system (CDSS). These programs theoretically will compile the patient's
medical history, access the long term treatments, and help in the diagnosis process with the
information accumulated from multiple areas within the program. The four main functions of the
program are administrative, managing clinical complexity and details, cost control and decision
support. The systems have been created for time management, to retain more precise records and to
assist in the diagnosis process for physicians. This allows for consistent and standardized care.
Multiple inquiries and apprehensions arise with the use of a CDSS program. The computer program
can only amass the information that is entered into the system. It is imperative that the managing,

There is concern for the doctor/patient relationship, in addition to, how well the system diagnosis's
serious illnesses. Continuous and monitored training is also a necessity. What and who is making
those decisions? If a physician assistant sees a patient and the program gives a diagnosis, is the
patient truly getting the proper care, what about the accuracy of the invoice? Will this allow a less
qualified individual to make decisions in regard to the patients' health care that may not be within
the scope of the job? Will there become a point that doctors rely too much on the CDSS? In my
opinion, the greatest fear would be a data breach with the amount of personal and medical health
information collected at businesses using a CDSS program. The most advanced and stringent
security measures would be imperative. Although having interoperability among the numerous
different CDSS programs could be beneficial, it also opens the door for increased

Abolish The Child Support System Essay
Abolish the Child Support System
Child support should no longer be feasible in the United States, because it is outdated, tough on
low–income fathers and most importantly undermines the efforts of the fathers who do get involve
in their child's life. Sadly, the government merely focus on the enforcement portion of the law. Child
support in this day and age has prolonged its deceptive theory of actually supporting the child with
the absence of a parent; typically a father. In the United States, "when parents do not live together,
children most often live with their mothers" (Grall 2009). Granted that more women and
government have taken advantage of the absences of fathers; without facing any repercussions for
their actions. In the end, such absences carry detrimental effect on most children who are raised by a
single parent with the government hypothetical assistance. These pressing issues are becoming
prominent as "most children in the U.S. spends some portion of their childhood living apart from at
least one of their parents" (Grall 2009). Part of this occurs mainly because of high divorce rates as
well as an unprecedented increase of childbirth to unmarried parents. In fact, one of the "greatest
indicator for poverty and welfare dependency is a child born to a single mother headed household"
(McCormick 2004). This concept does not merely dismantle the importance of family values, but it
also promotes the continuous cycle of single–parenting. For this reason, having a

Decision Support Systems
Introduction The outcome of a situation can sometimes be determined by the choices that have been
made. Decisions are made by individuals based on the surrounding factors. The type of jobs or
where one resides are some of the decisions that are made. In addition, one can be faced with
problems that he or she must resolve in order to learn from it. In the business world decisions are
made based on the given factors that are presented. Organizations can use the assistance of a
decision support system to help facilitate with the decision making.

Artificial intelligence of the system can be utilized to make quick decisions (Turban, Sharda, &
Delen, 2011). A patient may have visit one facility, but next time visits another facility. The patient
records must be accessible, while still maintain all federal regulations to obtain the information. The
decision to admit a patient to the hospital can be assigned based on that information (Schmidt,
Geisler, & Spreckelsen, 2013). The decision support system using structured information can be
determine the cost of the treatment. This information can vary on some medical cost based on
contract costs with the medical provider. The decision support system can also assist MFT with the
operational costs. The system can have modifying capabilities to adjust with the times. This helps
the administrators of the medical facilities make quicker decisions that are more accurate. The
system can also provide feedback that those pulling the data can resolve problems and learn from it
(Wu, Lin, & Tsai, 2002). A clinical decision support system is ideal for hospitals and medical
facilities.
Clinical decision support systems help with the decision making is the management aspect. If the
hospital or facility did not have an effective DSS the daily operation and strategic management
decisions can be impacted. The proper ordering of medical supplies can become an oversight
(Medtechmedia, 2013). Management can create reports and dashboards that provide real–time data.

Disadvantages Of Decision Support System
Decision support systems (DSS) are computer technology solution that can be used to support
complex decision making and problem solving. DSS technology developed over the past four
decades to assist better decision making for difficult and complex structured, semi–structured, and
unstructured decisions (Hosack, Hall, Paradice, & Courtney, 2012). DSS once supported individual
decision–makers, but later DSS technologies were applied to workgroups or teams, especially
virtual teams (Shim et al., 2002). Previously, DSS utilized more limited database, modeling, and
user interface functionality, but as the technology innovation leading in the information age, the
DSS functionality will be more powerful and possible. In the future, DSS development will be more
focused and trending in Web–based DSS, Group support systems (GSS) or collaboration support
systems, Knowledge Management DSS, Mobile computing and Social Media DSS. Firstly, the
advent of the Internet gave advantages of opportunities behind DSS development especially for
Web–based DSS. Web–based DSS enable to disseminate information to decision makers rapidly

considerable investment ($36 billion) aiming the rapid implementation and adoption of these
information technologies came from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) of

Clinical Support System Analysis
1. A Clinical Support System is a system that aids physicians and clinical staff in finding the right
course of action for patient care. The system recommends the action and also explains why that
route was chosen for that specific patient. An example of a clinical support system is one that assists
with the retrieval of scientific medical information as well as takes into consideration the particular
clinical context. The system does not perform the clinical decision making but it provides relevant
information, analyses and recommendations about the specific patient, this helps the healthcare
provider make an educated decision about the care that needs to be provided. Clinical support
systems can also allow for patient–specific alerts, situation–specific alerts, and assist physicians
with order sets to facilitate decision making which enhance the effectiveness and quality of care.
2. The critical difference between a clinical decision support system and a personal health record is
that the two differ greatly in the degree to which they interpret data and recommend patient–specific
action (Cimino & Shortliffe, 2014, p.190). A clinical decision support system are clinical systems

program that would perform an internet search for a typical query. The agent would synthesize the
relevant information from various web sources and return a document that would carry relevant
information based on our query (Weiss, 1999). Based on the prelude, we may define an agent as "An

spatial information." (Haag, Cummings. P.166) The graphical data demonstrated by the GIS is used
to analyze roads, sewer systems, paths of hurricanes, free ways, traffic, or any graphical data that
can be statistically represented. Document–driven DSS is also dissimilar to the other 3 decision

management of documents. Document–driven DSS is targeted at a broad base of user groups, and
the purpose of such a DSS is to explore web pages and locate documents. The user types in key
words and search the DSS for answers, and the DSS gives information that the user has requested.
DSS systems are beyond doubt helpful in assisting management and providing solutions while
confronting complex issues. However, artificial intelligence can be included to enhance DSS
capabilities. An Information Technology department "can further expand business brainpower by
means of artificial intelligence (AI)–the science of making machines imitate human thinking and

Essay on Clinical Decision Support System
Abstract Clinical decision–support systems (CDSS) apply best–known medical knowledge to patient
data for the purpose of generating case–specific decision–support advice. CDSS forms the
cornerstone of health informatics research and practice. It is an embedded concept in almost all
major clinical information systems and plays an instrumental role in helping health care achieve its
ultimate goal: providing high quality patient care while, at the same time, assuring patient safety and
reducing costs. This computer based systems designed to impact clinician decision making about
individual patients at the point in time that these decisions are made. If used properly, CDSS have

This stream of research eventually developed into a dedicated discipline, Artificial Intelligence in
Medicine (AIM), with wide appeal and broad consensus for optimism. In 1970, Schwartz announced
in the New England Journal of Medicine that clinical computing would likely be commonplace in
the "not too distant future." The use of computerized clinical information systems to support hospital
operation as well as clinical activities started to flourish in the early 1990s. Besides the significant
technological breakthroughs, including the availability of enterprise–level database management
systems (DBMS) and health data standards such as ICD and HL7, new legislation and advocacy by
federal funding agencies also played a key role. International Statistical Classification of Diseases:

Decision Support Systems ( Dss )
Decision support systems (DSS) is an umbrella term that describes an interactive, computerised
system that supports decision making in an organisation using data and models (Druzdzel & Flynn
2002; Sharda et al. 2014). Whereas knowledge–based decision support system (KB–DSS) is
generally a rule based system used to provide expertise. (Sharda et al. 2014). It is essentially an
expert system but it may also use documented knowledge as a source of expertise (Sharda et al.
2014). KB–DSS has well defined information organisation and manipulated schemes compared to
DSS (Christopher, Nehemiah & Arputharaj 2016). KB–DSS essentially acts as a consultant as it

2.0. Question 2 Web analytics is used to analyse the behaviour of visitors of a website (Rouse, Allen
& McQuown 2005). Web analytics can tell a business their website's traffic levels, its referral
sources and user behaviour and interactions (Sharma 2015). Data analytics is the process of
examining big data to find possible hidden patterns, unknown correlations and other useful
information that can be used to make better decisions (Kapdoskar et al. 2015). Data analytics is
making businesses smarter and more productive as they can make better predictions by analysing
trends in the data (Kapdoskar et al. 2015). The main difference between web and data analytics is
that web analytics analyses a website only, whereas data analytics analyses big data. Examples of
where web analytics is useful for supporting businesses (Sharma 2015): Improve website design and
user experience – Web analytics makes it easy to find out how users are interacting with a business'
website. According to how the users are using the website, the business can improve the design and
the functionality to make a better user experience. Understand business' website traffic – Businesses

Support System In Kewauna's Ambition By Paul Tough
Success: a word that is defined as being good at what you do and how you do it. There are many
elements of success. Some key elements are grit, a support system and commitment. Grit is having
the strength to never give up when things get tough, no matter how tough situations get. Having a
support system is having people by your side helping you get through anything and everything in the
best way they can! Commitment is keeping up with something and sticking with it every step of the
way until the job is done. Kewauna, from "Kewauna's Ambition", a portion from "How Children
Succeed", written by Paul Tough, showed those three elements: grit by never giving up, having a
support system that included a tutor, family and classmates, and determination while she tried her
hardest to do her best every day while attempting to escape her former lifestyle and being enrolled
in a program. While Marita, from "Marita's Bargain", an excerpt from "Outliers: The Story of

Abstract
Strategic planning is the overall planning that facilitates the good management of a process by
taking employees outside the everyday activities of their organization and provides them actual
representation of what they are doing and where they are going. A Strategic planning process
includes mission statement, goals for accomplishing mission, approaches for implementing goals,
action plans and monitoring and updating of plan. Various models/techniques such as iconic, analog
and quantitative are used for different phases of decision–making (Intelligence, design, choice,

Some questions such as where are we, what do we have to work with, where do we want to be and
how do we get there are considered in any strategic planning for organization (Schilder 2006).
According to Shapiro, strategic planning enables to answer the following questions:
Who are we/what capacity do we have/what can we do?
What problems are we addressing and what difference do we want to make?
Which critical issues must we respond to?
Where should we allocate our resources and what should our priorities be? (Shapiro n.d.)
After the above questions are answered, then the below questions are taken in account for
consideration in strategic planning:
What should our immediate objective be?
How should we organize ourselves to achieve this objective?
Who will do what when? (Shapiro n.d.)
According to McNamara (2003), sstrategic planning provides several benefits to organizations.
First, it clearly defines the purpose of the organization and establishes realistic goals and objectives
of the organization. It also brings together every employees best and most reasoned efforts, and
ensures the most effective use of the organization's recourses. Strategic planning provides a base,
from which progress can be measured, establishes clearer focus of organization, more efficiency and
effectiveness and solves major problem of the organization. Some potential problems and their

Decision Support Systems in Organizational Decision Making
Decision Support Systems in Organizational Decision Making Decision making refers to the process
of finding and selecting options according to the priorities and values of the person making the
decision. Since there are many choices involved, it is important to identify as many options as
possible so as to pick the option that best fits a company's target, goals, values and vision. Due to the
integral role of decision making in company growth and financial progress, many firms such as
Amazon.com and EBay are pumping in huge investments in business intelligence systems, which

Web–based DSS used at Amazon.com, for instance, provides the company with original, high risk,
company–wide DSS that ease decision making and company growth in the highly competitive e–
commerce market. DSS also increase the satisfaction level of the decision maker by minimizing the
frustrations involved in the process. In addition, DSS also reduce the costs associated with decision
making in a company. This is good news to managers and decision makers. DSS (especially Data–
driven Decision Support Systems) also increase the level of control that managers and decision
makers have over the company. Decision Support Systems promote a learning culture in an
organization. Employees and managers learn new concepts and more efficient ways of improving
the organization, either as a byproduct of the application of DSS or from the direct implementation
of DSS as training tools. This learning process is good for the company's future decision making
processes. Disadvantages of Decision Support Systems Though DSS are integral to the decision
making process of organizations, it introduces some problems. For instance, DSS can
overemphasize decision making. Therefore, it is important that managers be exposed to other factors
that contribute to organizational success such as socio–political factors. These factors should be
considered when building DSS. Another danger posed by DSS lies in their inappropriate use by
managers who assume that they are always

Clinical Decision Support Systems ( Cdss )
Clinical Decision Support Systems (CDSS) can be described as information systems to improve the
decision making ability of people interacting with it (Niès, Colombet et al. 2010). Hospitals with
integrated Health Information Systems (HIS) are encouraged to utilize CDSS (Jonathan Teich 2012).
Multiple fragments such as Electronic Health Record (EHR), laboratory information system,
Computerized Physician Order Entry (CPOE), radiology information system and pharmacy
information system combine together to form an integrated HIS (Niès, Colombet et al. 2010). Each

2005). However, CDSS embedded into the integrated HIS can reduce the number of such repetitive
tests (Bates, Kuperman et al. 1999, Neilson, Johnson et al. 2004). The objective of this literature
review is to study the evidence of CDSS on reducing inappropriate laboratory testing. The literature
review focuses on teaching hospital healthcare setting. The percentage and the effect of CDSS on
reducing the number of inappropriate tests are reported. Also the financial effect of reduced
laboratory testing is studied. BACKGROUND A considerable number of diagnostic tests ordered by
teaching hospital can be considered unnecessary (Schroeder, Kenders et al. 1973, Eisenberg,
Williams et al. 1977, Williams and Eisenberg 1986, Dorizzi, Dall 'Olio et al. 1996). Redundant test
ordering is expensive resulting in excessive false–positive outcomes, leading to further causeless
testing, treatment and expenses (Bates, Goldman et al. 1991). Despite extensive research on the
redundant and excessive usage, test ordering has not declined much over the past decade (Axt–
Adam, Van Der Wouden et al. 1993). Different types of interventions have been introduced to
reduce the excessive test ordering, some of them include – incentives, rationing, education and
feedback leading to 25% reduction for the intended test orderings (Detsky 1987). However, even the
most effective interventions have irregular success and always the interventions are expensive in

Importance of IT Support Systems
Form of support is one of the important aspects in every organization. People in support team have
responsible for helping, distributing, and maintaining the condition of computer and customer or
user satisfaction including hardware, software, and multimedia resources. By helping students, and
staff in the faculty about the correct way to use the technology, they also gives a one–to–one contact
for end–user support. Support team provide offers for a wide range of services including help desk,
call center, audiovisual distribution, manage computer labs, electronic hardware in the classrooms,
and knowledge about technology. According to Bryan Ruby (2007), it is unlikely to find a single
person in any modern office that could not be considered a user of IT. Most organizations nowadays
provide services to their employees or user with some level of support for IT systems and the
method used to provide the support from one company to another. On the other hand, user support

The Decision Support System For A Music Store
Decision Support Systems provide business owners with business intelligence necessary to remain
competitive and operate profitably. An owner of music store needs access to many different types of
data to predict customer's needs and ensure the appropriate inventory will be in stock when needed.
Too much inventory will drain financial resources and take up valuable shelf space and, in contrast,
not having the inventory customers want will result in missed opportunities for sales. The Decision
Support System for a music store would provide the most value to its owner if all features can be
easily utilized, both internal and external data can be stored, and data can be easily analyzed.
Ease of Use The Decision Support System must have a user interface that provides the music store
owner with a means to easily input data and retrieve the business intelligence needed to make the
best decisions. Technology of any kind that is not user friendly or is challenging to understand will
not be used to its fullest capacity. A music store owner would expect to see charts and graphs that
can be easily filtered or manipulated to translate a broad range of data into small easy to understand
pieces. Information that is needed routinely such as top selling albums or artists, inventory levels,
and total sales should be included on a dashboard for quick viewing at any time. The ability to drill
down to detail by specific genres or time periods may prove useful when data mining is desired.

With the system, it was possible to explore and manipulate a large data base of information on the

banks and other sources of financing seemed to be uniformly impressed by the careful computer–

offensive tools of persuasion, let us turn to examples of the "defensive" (persuading someone that

Creating A Distributed Operating Systems That Support...
Abstract IT industry being one of the major development areas, many people choose their career in
it. To support all range of industries i.e., from small scale to large scale, cloud computing emerged
which reduces the efforts both physically and with regard to capital investment. Depending on the
length of work that one would like to choose with, cloud computing offers four types of delivery
models namely, "public cloud", "private cloud", "community cloud" and "hybrid cloud". User is also
free to choose the amount of control one would like to have on their data that is stored in the cloud.
The cloud providers offer three types of services which give users different types of permissions.
More permissions the user hold, the more control and privacy obtained on the data. The data being
shared among the open space is less secured. Cloud computing involving different technologies like
networks, databases, operating systems and many other, has enormous security issues. In
perspective to the designing of a distributed operating systems that support cloud computing,
resource scheduling, transaction management, load balancing, concurrency control, memory
management are some of the major issues that are to be considered. Scalability, loss of data,

However, the bulk of the controversy lies with people's fears regarding the influence of Performance
Support Systems in the workplace. I found references to this concern throughout all of the research
that I did for this paper.
Fears, Concerns Surrounding PSS
One concern that keeps appearing in discussion circles is that people are feeling threatened by
Performance Support Systems, but why? Well, when one considers that EPSS programs can provide
knowledge with the mere touch of a button that would take the rest of us many years to acquire, this
reality can have a humbling effect on the ego.
So are these fears legitimate or is this just a case of slighted ego? Actually, there is some basis for
concern regarding the PSS trend in relation to job security. And there are comments that reinforce
this feeling such as the one given by Betty Mackey, director of customer–service training. In
Longman's article she said that at the present time there are no plans to lay off college graduates or
to lower salaries; however, she did not rule out that possibility in the future. She said that the
company may lower education requirements and perhaps even recruit people who are currently
working behind the counters at fast–food restaurants due to the influence of PSS.
Downsizing is another very real possibility. One of the reasons Dr. Harmon gave for why companies
might want to build a PSS is downsizing. He made the point that when

Clinical Decision Support Systems (CDSS

  • 1. Clinical Decision Support Systems ( Cdss ) Clinical Decision Support Systems (CDSS) can be described as information systems to improve the decision making ability of people interacting with it(Niès et al., 2010). Hospitals with integrated Health Information Systems (HIS) are encouraged to utilize CDSS(Jonathan Teich, Saldana, & Levick, 2012). Multiple fragments such as Electronic Health Record(EHR), laboratory information system, Computerized Physician Order Entry (CPOE), radiology information system and pharmacy information system combine together to form an integrated HIS(Niès et al., 2010). Each piece of the HIS is essential to generate proper CDSS suggestions in the form of on screen alerts, that have been found to be most effective(Shojania et al., 2009). Diagnostic laboratory testing has been steadily increasing over time in many medical settings all over the world. Hence, proper laboratory testing is crucial for better patient health(van Walraven & Naylor, 1998). Laboratory testing of patients can be inappropriate, and mostly it is repetitive testing(Neilson, 2004). The integrated HIS itself can also be a factor in encouraging repetitive examination, it can be based on different factors such as, when there is a disconnect between the HIS workflow and the physician's workflow, test ordered in another department may not be shown in another department, tests taken by the patient at a different location of the same hospital group, patient recently taking the test in a different hospital group(Koppel & Ross, ... • 7. Personal Goal : A Social Support System, And Establishing... Setting a personal goal allows you to decide what you want to achieve in your life over a period of time. The personal goal for the assigned project I have set for myself reveals handling stress effectively. I have experienced ulcers in my past, relationship problems, and changes my mood often due to stress, therefore this explains why I chose my personal goal to handle stress appropriately and possibly overcome it. The plan of action I chose to help me obtain my goal includes changing my behavior, creating a social support system, and establishing a reward system. First thing, I realized in order to tackle this goal I would have to change my behavior. In order to make changes things have to be done differently, with a new way of doing them. One of the things I decided to change includes exercising, since exercising produces endorphins and fights to reduce stress. Exercising was a behavior change for me due to changing my routine and adding more physical activity. Another example of changing my behavior reveals my thought process. Instead of worrying over things or situations I have no control over I changed the way I thought and reminded myself the situation may not be as bad as it appears. Additionally, sleep is an extreme factor when coping with stress, therefore along the way I searched for ways to help acquire good quality sleep. I found people can listen to low hertz frequency tones when going to bed and in return it will allow people who deal with restless sleep to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The system helps to reduce stress, teaches teamwork, develops a sense of responsibility for fellow soldiers, and improves/encourages safety. The battle buddy system applies to all Soldiers in training at all times, on and off post on and off–duty hours. The battle buddy system is established IAW TRADOC Reg. 350–6." –Policy Letter #14: The Battle Buddy System Why having a battle buddy is impotent. Why is having a battle buddy important?? There are many reasons why having a battle buddy is important like, if something bad happens there you have a witness, in a combat situation, having someone to study with, just to have some to hang out with and talk to, it even adds some responsibility, have a battle buddy also means you have an extra set of ears, it also decreases the risks of suicide, and can help a lot reliving stress. If something bad happens you have a witness? Sexual harassment haves become a pretty big issue in the army, and having a battle buddy can help prevent that from happening. Let's say you go out with your battle buddy and he/she gets sexually assaulted and your battle buddy did not have a battle buddy, so there is no proof that that happened so there is no evidence that this has happened now if they would have had a battle buddy then that possibly not have happened, but let's say it still did happen, and you were there to witness the sexual assault that can ... Typical application areas of DSSs are management and planning in business, health care, the military, and any area in which management will encounter complex decision situations. • 13. Understanding Clinical Decision Support System Understanding Clinical Decision Support System, Its Origin and the Changing Face The Era has begun where a tremendous amount of data and silos of information are being generated. The websites, blogs, the electronic health record are all jam–packed with information. Posts from Facebook, tweets from twitters, interactive websites are a rich source of information. If one can imagine, information has as much as widespread as the universe. However, what happens to the heap of information generated? Do we use the information to convert into knowledge and apply it to our daily life? Are they helping physicians, patients and other clinical staff in their decision making? The integration of all available information has resulted in Clinical Decision Support System (CDSS). This system is invented to help the physicians and other clinical staff in decision making process. But the question again is – are they comfortable using CDSS. What if the users could write decision rule which would be their own personal experience. If they could write their own rule will it increase their acceptability? The article answers the questions raised and provides a brief description of a CDSS developed by the Regenstrief Institute, which is contributing to an altogether different face of CDSS. This, if successfully launched can result in better acceptability among users, which can solve other user related or initiated difficulties. • 15. Clinical Decision Support System Analysis A computer program that several doctors and hospitals are now using to manage patient care is a clinical decision support system (CDSS). These programs theoretically will compile the patient's medical history, access the long term treatments, and help in the diagnosis process with the information accumulated from multiple areas within the program. The four main functions of the program are administrative, managing clinical complexity and details, cost control and decision support. The systems have been created for time management, to retain more precise records and to assist in the diagnosis process for physicians. This allows for consistent and standardized care. Multiple inquiries and apprehensions arise with the use of a CDSS program. The computer program can only amass the information that is entered into the system. It is imperative that the managing, monitoring and updating of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There is concern for the doctor/patient relationship, in addition to, how well the system diagnosis's serious illnesses. Continuous and monitored training is also a necessity. What and who is making those decisions? If a physician assistant sees a patient and the program gives a diagnosis, is the patient truly getting the proper care, what about the accuracy of the invoice? Will this allow a less qualified individual to make decisions in regard to the patients' health care that may not be within the scope of the job? Will there become a point that doctors rely too much on the CDSS? In my opinion, the greatest fear would be a data breach with the amount of personal and medical health information collected at businesses using a CDSS program. The most advanced and stringent security measures would be imperative. Abolish The Child Support System Essay Abolish the Child Support System Child support should no longer be feasible in the United States, because it is outdated, tough on low–income fathers and most importantly undermines the efforts of the fathers who do get involve in their child's life. Sadly, the government merely focus on the enforcement portion of the law. Child support in this day and age has prolonged its deceptive theory of actually supporting the child with the absence of a parent; typically a father. In the United States, "when parents do not live together, children most often live with their mothers" (Grall 2009). Granted that more women and government have taken advantage of the absences of fathers; without facing any repercussions for their actions. In the end, such absences carry detrimental effect on most children who are raised by a single parent with the government hypothetical assistance. These pressing issues are becoming prominent as "most children in the U.S. spends some portion of their childhood living apart from at least one of their parents" (Grall 2009). Part of this occurs mainly because of high divorce rates as well as an unprecedented increase of childbirth to unmarried parents. In fact, one of the "greatest indicator for poverty and welfare dependency is a child born to a single mother headed household" (McCormick 2004). This concept does not merely dismantle the importance of family values, but it also promotes the continuous cycle of single–parenting. For this reason, having a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The decision to admit a patient to the hospital can be assigned based on that information (Schmidt, Geisler, & Spreckelsen, 2013). The decision support system using structured information can be determine the cost of the treatment. This information can vary on some medical cost based on contract costs with the medical provider. DSS technology developed over the past four decades to assist better decision making for difficult and complex structured, semi–structured, and unstructured decisions (Hosack, Hall, Paradice, & Courtney, 2012). DSS once supported individual decision–makers, but later DSS technologies were applied to workgroups or teams, especially virtual teams (Shim et al., 2002). Previously, DSS utilized more limited database, modeling, and user interface functionality, but as the technology innovation leading in the information age, the DSS functionality will be more powerful and possible. In the future, DSS development will be more focused and trending in Web–based DSS, Group support systems (GSS) or collaboration support systems, Knowledge Management DSS, Mobile computing and Social Media DSS. The system recommends the action and also explains why that route was chosen for that specific patient. An example of a clinical support system is one that assists with the retrieval of scientific medical information as well as takes into consideration the particular clinical context. The system does not perform the clinical decision making but it provides relevant information, analyses and recommendations about the specific patient, this helps the healthcare provider make an educated decision about the care that needs to be provided. Clinical support systems can also allow for patient–specific alerts, situation–specific alerts, and assist physicians with order sets to facilitate decision making which enhance the effectiveness and quality of care. 2. The critical difference between a clinical decision support system and a personal health record is that the two differ greatly in the degree to which they interpret data and recommend patient–specific action (Cimino & Shortliffe, 2014, p.190). First, it clearly defines the purpose of the organization and establishes realistic goals and objectives of the organization. It also brings together every employees best and most reasoned efforts, and ensures the most effective use of the organization's recourses. Strategic planning provides a base, from which progress can be measured, establishes clearer focus of organization, more efficiency and effectiveness and solves major problem of the organization. • 57. Decision Support Systems in Organizational Decision Making Decision Support Systems in Organizational Decision Making Decision making refers to the process of finding and selecting options according to the priorities and values of the person making the decision. Since there are many choices involved, it is important to identify as many options as possible so as to pick the option that best fits a company's target, goals, values and vision. Due to the integral role of decision making in company growth and financial progress, many firms such as Amazon.com and EBay are pumping in huge investments in business intelligence systems, which are made up of certain technological tools and technological applications that are created for the purpose of facilitating improved decision making process in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Web–based DSS used at Amazon.com, for instance, provides the company with original, high risk, company–wide DSS that ease decision making and company growth in the highly competitive e– commerce market. DSS also increase the satisfaction level of the decision maker by minimizing the frustrations involved in the process. In addition, DSS also reduce the costs associated with decision making in a company. This is good news to managers and decision makers. DSS (especially Data– driven Decision Support Systems) also increase the level of control that managers and decision makers have over the company. Decision Support Systems promote a learning culture in an organization. Employees and managers learn new concepts and more efficient ways of improving the organization, either as a byproduct of the application of DSS or from the direct implementation of DSS as training tools. This learning process is good for the company's future decision making processes. Disadvantages of Decision Support Systems Though DSS are integral to the decision making process of organizations, it introduces some problems. For instance, DSS can overemphasize decision making. Therefore, it is important that managers be exposed to other factors that contribute to organizational success such as socio–political factors. These factors should be considered when building DSS. Another danger posed by DSS lies in their inappropriate use by managers who assume that they are always ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Clinical Decision Support Systems ( Cdss ) Clinical Decision Support Systems (CDSS) can be described as information systems to improve the decision making ability of people interacting with it (Niès, Colombet et al. 2010). Hospitals with integrated Health Information Systems (HIS) are encouraged to utilize CDSS (Jonathan Teich 2012). Multiple fragments such as Electronic Health Record (EHR), laboratory information system, Computerized Physician Order Entry (CPOE), radiology information system and pharmacy information system combine together to form an integrated HIS (Niès, Colombet et al. 2010). Each piece of the HIS is essential to generate proper CDSS suggestions in the form of on screen alerts, that have been found to be most effective (Shojania, Jennings et al. 2009). ... However, CDSS embedded into the integrated HIS can reduce the number of such repetitive tests (Bates, Kuperman et al. 1999, Neilson, Johnson et al. 2004). The objective of this literature review is to study the evidence of CDSS on reducing inappropriate laboratory testing. The literature review focuses on teaching hospital healthcare setting. The percentage and the effect of CDSS on reducing the number of inappropriate tests are reported. Also the financial effect of reduced laboratory testing is studied. BACKGROUND A considerable number of diagnostic tests ordered by teaching hospital can be considered unnecessary (Schroeder, Kenders et al. 1973, Eisenberg, Williams et al. 1977, Williams and Eisenberg 1986, Dorizzi, Dall 'Olio et al. 1996). Redundant test ordering is expensive resulting in excessive false–positive outcomes, leading to further causeless testing, treatment and expenses (Bates, Goldman et al. 1991). Despite extensive research on the redundant and excessive usage, test ordering has not declined much over the past decade (Axt– Adam, Van Der Wouden et al. 1993). Different types of interventions have been introduced to reduce the excessive test ordering, some of them include – incentives, rationing, education and feedback leading to 25% reduction for the intended test orderings (Detsky 1987). However, even the most effective interventions have irregular success and always the interventions are expensive in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

We had taken courses from: computer application, data communication, information system analysis to creating organizational values. All of these courses were great, but the one that comes to mind that will be best integrated with my thesis project is decision support system. My key focus for this thesis project is, interoperability equal continuity through standards. As a result, the course decision support system will be a perfect complement. Clinical decision support systems (CDSSs) are interactive systems that emulate human reasoning in a given domain. CDSSs were first developed about 40 year ago and have a successful track record in improving the clinical intervention process (Antonio, et al., 2014). • 63. Importance of IT Support Systems Form of support is one of the important aspects in every organization. People in support team have responsible for helping, distributing, and maintaining the condition of computer and customer or user satisfaction including hardware, software, and multimedia resources. By helping students, and staff in the faculty about the correct way to use the technology, they also gives a one–to–one contact for end–user support. Support team provide offers for a wide range of services including help desk, call center, audiovisual distribution, manage computer labs, electronic hardware in the classrooms, and knowledge about technology. According to Bryan Ruby (2007), it is unlikely to find a single person in any modern office that could not be considered a user of IT. Most organizations nowadays provide services to their employees or user with some level of support for IT systems and the method used to provide the support from one company to another. On the other hand, user support function or on–to–one support include provide software and application help and troubleshoot to users, by installing, configure the software, and also the maintenance of existing application programs. Heart Failure (HF) is prevalent disorder that affected 6.6 million people in the United Sates during 2010 (Patarroyo–Aponte & Colvin–Adams, 2014). In HF the heart lacks the ability to push oxygenated blood throughout the cardiovascular system. This disorder prevents vital organs from getting the oxygen needed in order to perform their duties as well. The disorder must be managed and maintained since HF is a disorder that not only affects the heart but respiratory system, endocrine system, digestive system and all other system (Chiarugi, Colantonio, Emmanouilidou, Martinelli, Moroni, & Salvetti, 2010). • 71. The Decision Support System For A Music Store Decision Support Systems provide business owners with business intelligence necessary to remain competitive and operate profitably. An owner of music store needs access to many different types of data to predict customer's needs and ensure the appropriate inventory will be in stock when needed. Too much inventory will drain financial resources and take up valuable shelf space and, in contrast, not having the inventory customers want will result in missed opportunities for sales. The Decision Support System for a music store would provide the most value to its owner if all features can be easily utilized, both internal and external data can be stored, and data can be easily analyzed. Ease of Use The Decision Support System must have a user interface that provides the music store owner with a means to easily input data and retrieve the business intelligence needed to make the best decisions. Technology of any kind that is not user friendly or is challenging to understand will not be used to its fullest capacity. A music store owner would expect to see charts and graphs that can be easily filtered or manipulated to translate a broad range of data into small easy to understand pieces. Information that is needed routinely such as top selling albums or artists, inventory levels, and total sales should be included on a dashboard for quick viewing at any time. The ability to drill down to detail by specific genres or time periods may prove useful when data mining is desired. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The banks and other sources of financing seemed to be uniformly impressed by the careful computer– based analysis on which management based its financing requests. The resulting edge in credibility was small, but, in management's opinion, noticeable. Now that we have seen illustrations of the offensive tools of persuasion, let us turn to examples of the "defensive" (persuading someone that the user has done a good job) uses of these systems: When asked whether he ever made direct use of a case tracking system, the head of an adjudication group in a government regulatory agency said that he remembered only one instance. This was when he spent a lunch hour generating a report to make his group's recent performance appear as favorable as possible in spite of some unfortunate delays and problems that made the standard report look bad. • 77. Creating A Distributed Operating Systems That Support... Abstract IT industry being one of the major development areas, many people choose their career in it. To support all range of industries i.e., from small scale to large scale, cloud computing emerged which reduces the efforts both physically and with regard to capital investment. Depending on the length of work that one would like to choose with, cloud computing offers four types of delivery models namely, "public cloud", "private cloud", "community cloud" and "hybrid cloud". User is also free to choose the amount of control one would like to have on their data that is stored in the cloud. The cloud providers offer three types of services which give users different types of permissions. More permissions the user hold, the more control and privacy obtained on the data. The data being shared among the open space is less secured. Cloud computing involving different technologies like networks, databases, operating systems and many other, has enormous security issues. In perspective to the designing of a distributed operating systems that support cloud computing, resource scheduling, transaction management, load balancing, concurrency control, memory management are some of the major issues that are to be considered. Scalability, loss of data, performance also stand as the other major concerns due to the heavy growth of organizations which are using the cloud. Electronic Performance Support System Essay Performance Support Systems Abstract The purpose of my paper is to discuss Performance Support Systems, the reason why some people fear them, concerns surrounding them, and why there is a growing trend for their use and their redefinement. Performance Support Systems Defined Electronic Performance Support Systems otherwise known as EPSS were born in the early 1990s by Gloria Gery, who was described as an educational software guru by Phillip Longman in his journal article, The Janitor Stole My Job. A distinguishing feature of EPSS is its ability to automate many job–related cognitive skills and to give immediate instructions to assist users in decision–making processes, which still require human judgment. These are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, the bulk of the controversy lies with people's fears regarding the influence of Performance Support Systems in the workplace. I found references to this concern throughout all of the research that I did for this paper. Fears, Concerns Surrounding PSS One concern that keeps appearing in discussion circles is that people are feeling threatened by Performance Support Systems, but why? Well, when one considers that EPSS programs can provide knowledge with the mere touch of a button that would take the rest of us many years to acquire, this reality can have a humbling effect on the ego. So are these fears legitimate or is this just a case of slighted ego? Actually, there is some basis for concern regarding the PSS trend in relation to job security. And there are comments that reinforce this feeling such as the one given by Betty Mackey, director of customer–service training. In Longman's article she said that at the present time there are no plans to lay off college graduates or to lower salaries; however, she did not rule out that possibility in the future. She said that the company may lower education requirements and perhaps even recruit people who are currently working behind the counters at fast–food restaurants due to the influence of PSS.
