2. The main cover image has been positioned to focus on Tom
Hiddleston’s character Loki the nemesis of the character Thor
in the film Thor. The cover uses a medium long shot showing
his head and down to his legs. HIddleston’s gaze is directly
into the eyes of the audience which creates a sinister feel but
also makes them feel more involved. His body posture is
shown with is arms folded creating the impression that he
defensive and powerful. His facial expressions indicate a
serious and sinister persona, which could make audiences
feel intimidated and unnerved. The fact that his costume’s
colour tones are a mix of dark green, black and gold
suggests a evil character. Similarly his pale white face can
highlight a cold personality. Hiddleston’s image appears to be
very dark due to the background being lighter in tone drawing
more attention on him. The background is full chaos and
destruction with a grey sky and a burning ground, highlighting
the use of pathetic fallacy to create his character as
dangerous.
3. The cover line on the left reveals to the target audience an overview of
the contents in the magazine. The colour scheme for the cover line
resembles the rest of the magazine cover for example the font which
uses three main colours thats are yellow, black and white. The
changes in colour creates a more appealing and attractive
appearance to encourage demographics to read it. Similarly the use of
bold uppercase letters creates a eye-catching look for audiences.
The masthead used is bold with the use of uppercase letters, however it seems to be faded
in contrast to its other past covers, suggesting the editors wanted a large focus on
Hiddleson’s as they know they have a mass audience who subscribe to their magazine.
Although the white font does draw attention for audiences as it contrasts to the colours of
the background making it more eye-catching on the cover. Hiddleson’s character covers
part of the of the title, similarly indicating a popular magazine with a mass audience which
are familiar with the brand image, also it suggests that they have a desire to sell to film.
