BACKGROUND
I am proposing for a library to be put into the Exton campus of Delaware County Community
College. There is currently not a library at this location. In order to have the use of a campus library
we must go to the main campus of the college, which is approximately thirty to forty minutes from
the Exton location. There are many ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A library that is closer for students would promote good learning habits and study skills. Students
may not wait until the last minute to do their projects and papers because resources are more readily
available to them.
PROPOSED ENVIRONMENT
The proposed environment will consist of a fully functioning library that is open to students and
faculty free of charge. If an outside member of the community would like to use the library the
school could charge them a small membership fee. This will help to raise revenue for the college
and the library.
For the first few years the library may be small but as years pass the library can expand to have
more books, magazines, research materials, computers, etc. The library can also share with the main
campus library in order to expand their materials and capabilities. I think many students and
teachers would support the addition of a library to the campus.
When the library is first constructed it should have at least a thousand books, several magazine
subscriptions, and fifteen computers. Ten of the computers should be connected to the Internet and
have common programs that students would use to write research papers and create presentations.
The other five computers should be connected to research databases only such as Ebsco. There
should also be a ?quiet area? where students can study, do homework, research material, read, write
papers, etc. A ?quiet area? would give

Hate Speech On College Campuses
The First Amendment declares free speech to all types of speech by all of its people. The issue arises
in a college setting where "hate speech" does not fall under free speech and is therefore enforced
with speech codes. The biggest controversy is determining what is considered hate speech and what
is not. So when did it become the governments job to determine a student's acceptance or
disapproval of another individual(s) train of thought? Implying speech codes on a college campus
only poses a threat to ones own freedom of expression and thought. Free speech in the form of hate
speech should not be regulated on a college campus because it is often times understood differently
by others, it also challenges our freedom of assertion and although ... Show more content on

Overall, speech codes on all colleges should not be allowed because they are not applied anywhere
else. Students on a college campus should be allowed to accept or deny hate speech based on their
own beliefs. The chancellor/government on a campus should not be the one to determine what is
offensive and what is not. Hate speech can be defined differently by different people, some might
learn from it, some might not care for it, but the truth of the matter is that everybody has a voice and
nobody should be allowed to take that away from

U3 Advisors Expanded The Chula Vista Team
In 2015, U3 Advisors expanded the Chula Vista team by retaining the following four individuals to
act in an advisory capacity on the project; Denise Ducheny, retired California State Senator, and
Clarissa Reyes Falcon of Falcon Consulting, to act as the local representatives for the institutional
recruitment process, and Eduardo Glandt, Dean of Engineering, Emeritus, University of
Pennsylvania as an academic and institutional sounding board. We also consulted with Mexican–
American Architect Enrique Norten who has close ties to Chula Vista as well as high–level Mexican
governmental and higher education officials.
PROJECT OVERVIEW
The City of Chula Vista, California has engaged U3 Advisors to help establish a University and
Innovation District campus on a 375–acre site in the southeast corner of the City. Chula Vista, a
growing city located approximately four miles north of the US/Mexico border and midpoint
between the downtowns of San Diego and Tijuana, envisions this campus as an educational
destination and regional economic engine. U3 is guiding the effort to identify potential partner
institutions for this project and is exploring opportunities with higher education partners globally
and domestically.
A new university campus could have a tremendous impact for not only the City of Chula Vista, but
also the larger CaliBaja Megaregion, comprised of San Diego and Imperial Counties to the north of
the border and the five municipalities that make up Baja California, MX

The Importance Of Censorship In College Education
The United States, the land of the free, prides itself in the rights given to its people. Despite the
acclaimed freedom of America, Americans, especially college students, are not as free as the
founding fathers would have hoped. When the First Amendment was adopted on December 15,
1791, Americans were given the Freedom of Religion, Speech, the Press, Assembly, and Petition.
While the Constitution clearly grants these rights to all U.S. citizens, individuals still fight for these
freedoms. Specifically, the Freedom of Speech is an ongoing issue which people continue to pursue.
This freedom is essential to student growth in higher education, yet college students are often
limited by what they can say while on campus. The censorship of individual and group speech
threatens the purpose of a liberal education. It also limits the freedoms of a free society.
Students should be encouraged to voice their individual feelings and views on worldly issues,
instead of being shunned and threatened for doing so. The purpose of a liberal education is to not
only to educate individuals but also to introduce them to the different cultures and beliefs of the
students they sit beside during class. Exposure to the views of others allows students to expand their
own knowledge on current issues, individual rights, cultural differences, and more. An important
part of one's education is to grow spiritually, individually, and culturally, as well as intellectually.
One must note that the experiences

Free Speech on College Campuses Essay

Final Essay #2
Importance of 'Free Speech'
College is a time when most individuals are experiencing major changes and begin to explore new
perspectives. The transition in becoming more independent, creating new insights and peer
influence are key factors in changing the perspective of an individual. Students are faced with new
ideas from their professors, family and fellow peers. Through that acquired knowledge many
students decide that they either agree or disagree with the perspectives that they are taught.
Allowing the right of 'Free Speech' on public college campuses has become an important issue that
many public colleges are starting to address. In college students are capable of ... Show more

Despite their opinions, free speech was a great way in this situation for students to rally together and
publically inform the rest of campus of their beliefs. In the school newspaper, The Daily Emerald,
CJ Ciaramelle wrote "About 300 students from across the campus community – student unions,
Greek Life, the ASUO, the Survival Center, the Women's Center – showed up at the meeting to
protest the Forum" (1). Although the majority of people protested against the forum the right to free
speech, it is important because it allows students to make decisions on their own and invite students
to do the same.
"Free speech" often has negative connotations because the negative outcomes are publicized more
than the positive outcomes. 'Free Speech' is a time for individuals to express their beliefs and topic
on an important issue. People chose to present themselves in a vast majority of ways such as,
holding signs, making t–shirts, shouting, etc. People who chose to present themselves in disrupting
ways such as, foul language, inappropriate attire are more likely to be noticed than another student
that is holding a simple and respectful sign. Schmidt states, "Universities cannot censor or suppress
speech, no matter how obnoxious in content, without violating their justification of existence" (2).
There is no definition of what type of 'free speech' should be censored and not allowed. With that
said, there should not be a limit on 'free speech'

Jesus Villahermosa Thesis
After reading the essay written by Jesus Villahermosa I believe his thesis statement is "Given my
extensive experience dealing with violence in the workplace and at schools and colleges, I do not
think professors and administrators, let alone students, should carry guns". In his second paragraph,
he lays out reason as to why he feels this way and shows that he can be considered an expert in
firearm safety. Giving information into his background reinforces his position and add to his
argument against arming people on college campuses. Some may be surprised that he is against
having armed professors and students on campus because of his background. However, I am not
surprised that he is strongly against having firearm toting professors, administrators and students
throughout campuses. He is properly trained, experienced with firearm safety and marksmanship
which in turn gives him great support to his argument. Villahermosa gave ample reasons to support
his argument against carrying weapons on college campuses throughout his essay. The most
persuasive reason he gives against guns on campus is "Will faculty and staff members be prepared
to kill ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He gave clear and abundant reasons to back up his argument and laid out many consequences for
having a policy that would allow guns on campus. With colleges already struggling financially a
policy allowing guns would bring even more need for funding to cash strapped institutions. The
training required would be extensive and costly to have competent people carrying and ready to use
their gun if needed. The risks involved in allowing guns on campus seem to be extremely high and
wildly unpredictable. It would make it harder for police to distinguish between the good guy and the
bad guy in a crisis. Schools and employees would be subjected to lawsuits and even imprisonment if
innocent bystanders are shot instead of intended

A Sorority Is A Subculture Or A Segment Of Society 's...
All around the world sororities are a subculture or "a segment of society's population" on most
college campuses (Macionis 64). These sororities have their own language, norms, beliefs, and
values. Most college campuses have many charters or different sororities to choose from when a
student wants to pledge a sorority. On the Saint Francis University campus, there are seven
sororities that a female student can belong to. Each sorority has a different philanthropy which is a
foundation that the sorority stands behind. For example Delta Phi Epsilon stands behind the
Educational Foundation, this foundation helps women get the education that they deserve. Sororities
are known for creating a bond between girls that last a life time. The sororities have their own
language, they use words like pledge, bid, big, little, active, lavaliere, letters, and philanthropy. A
pledge is a person who accepts a bid, and a bid is an invitation to a specific chapter at their school
(Nakagoshi 1). When a female student wants to pledge a sorority they interview for a bid and the
sorority decides if they want to have the new student pledge or not. If the pledge gets the bid then
the student gets a big, a big is an older girl who has been part of the sorority for a year of more, and
the big is like a big sister they are supposed to care of their "little" or new pledge (Nakagoshi 1). An
active is a member of the sorority that has been part of the sorority for a few years. When a sister is

Hiring a Diverse Staff Southwest State University is hiring new Resident Assistants (RA).
Southwest State University is a small public baccalaureate university of approximately 2,500
students. Second year hall director Marcus is serving his first year on the Resident Assistant
Selection committee. The school holds twenty positions and currently has seven available. Cheryl is
the head of the RA Selection committee and she is the Assistant Director of Residence Life. The
committee will interview nineteen students and rank them from "best" to "not ready" for the
position. In the ranking process, Cheryl asked them to take note of candidates' race and ethnicity

It is good to have diversity in a staff, but if members are in different stages of development, it could
have a ripple effect and turn the whole organization around. Marcus, who was a part of the search
committee for new RA's, seemed confused about the process of finding a new RA. Cheryl
mentioned that interviewing was just one part of the selection, which indicated there is another part
to the hiring process. Cheryl decided to go ahead and offer positions to the students of color, and
these students of color will not have to do the second part of the process. Schuh mentions
assessment as analyzing and interpreting evidence that describes institutional, divisional, or agency
effectiveness (Schuh et al., 2011). Schuh then recommends evaluation to use the assessment to
improve departmental and institutional effectiveness. To become effective as an organization,
assessments and evaluations are important to produce success. Without assessment and evaluation,
finding a good fit for a program will be hard. Cheryl did not do a full assessment of all the students
when going through an interview process. She is having the students of color miss out on the next
stage in the hiring process because they are of color. The justice in this case is threatened because
not every student has the same chance of actually becoming an RA from the beginning. The loss of
trust could also be comprised in Marcus eyes towards Cheryl, because she does not trust or listen to

The Social Needs For Students ' Intellectual Development...
Introduction: Background Generally speaking, universities place emphasis on students' intellectual
development more than their personal growth. Nevertheless, many students experience college life
stressful. College students often find themselves feeling isolated as they begin their lives on a
university campus (Corey, Corey, & Corey, 2014). Therefore, their social needs in addition to their
academic needs must be addressed (see Corey, et al., 2014; Ramsay, Jones, & Barker, 2007).
Developmentally, college age individuals transition from adolescence to young adulthood (Gardiner
& Kosmitzki, 2010). One of developmental theorists, Erik Erikson (in Lerner, 2002) postulated that
young adults' developmental task is negotiating their identity within the intimate relationship.
Furthermore, Côté (2006) stressed that reflecting and exploring their lives in adolescence to
emerging adulthood helps them obtain what he called identity capital, which refers to "a repertoire
of personal resources" (Côté, 2006, p. 91). It includes both tangible and intangible resources and
attributes (Côté, 2006). Lack of engagement or passivity of adolescents and emerging adults result
in diffusion ("apathetic noncommitment" (Côté, 2006, p. 104). Gleaning from these theorists'
observations, college students face developmental tasks, which carry them forward to adulthood.
Therefore, their social needs in addition to their academic needs must be addressed (see Corey, et
al., 2014). The rate of international

Pros And Cons Of Living On Campus Life
Almost every young person who enters college education faces a lot of decisions, including which
courses they are going to take, which subject they will major in, and where they will live between
living on campus or living at home. The on–campus dormitories have been lived in by many people
and some of them have absolutely opposing opinions. The change from home to dorm life can be
considered one of the most important events in the lives of students. Home life and dorm life present
two different ways of living in different conditions. The choice between home life and on–campus
life can lead to complete transformation of the life of a college student. On–campus life inevitably
affects the lives of college students, as well as their home lives. Though both of these experiences
affect students, there are pros and cons to living on–campus or off–campus, such as food
availability, time management, finances, and social life.
The most obvious difference between living on–campus or living at home while studying is food
availability. The dormitory does not provide the individuals with an actual kitchen and has only a
small space for refrigerating food. Living on–campus just provides students with mostly three
options such as cafeteria food, recipes they can whip up in residence hall microware or the closest
and cheapest fast food restaurants like Subway. Although all of these options could be delicious and
tasty, sometimes it is not suitable with the students' taste, especially,

Cycling Advantages
Benefits of Cycling
Although cycling is not the popular choice among people, there is no doubt that it offers more health
benefits than other modes of transportations. An assessment done by the American College Health
Association reported that roughly 53% of students were not engaging in the daily recommended
amount of exercise (Bopp 359). To add to that, something that always comes to mind when thinking
about college and health is the infamous Freshmen 15. In the midst of their busy lives with classes,
friends, and extra–curricular activities, many students, particularly freshmen, are unable to find the
time to work out. EZ Bike is a great way to help students incorporate a little more physical activity
in their day while obtaining utility to get to places faster. A university survey shows that roughly
one–third of USC students did not even exercise for a minimum of 20 to 30 minutes any day of
week ("Healthy). By using a bike to ride around campus, students could easily obtain 20 to 30
minutes of exercise each day without even having to go to the gym.
It is true that the implementation of a bike–share program will not completely solve the problem of
college obesity or the Freshmen 15, but at the least, it can increase levels of physical activity and
promote fitness. By physically having EZ Bike and its stations on USC's campus, it serves as a
trigger. Written by Jonah Berger, Contagious: Why Things Catch On is a book that describes how
triggers are able to prompt action.

several articles about the reasons to why students should be allowed to carry on campus. Also the

personal protection on college campuses that current laws afford them virtually everywhere else."(1)

Research Project Supervisor: Dr. Karen Furgerson
The purpose of this study was to understand the college students' perceptions of slut–shaming
discourse. The research indicated that there was a strong correlation between cultural expectations
and slut–shaming. According to the results, the perceptions of slut–shaming are influenced by
aspects such as: class, culture, media, gender, feminism, ethnicity, religion, and sexuality. Overall,
college students were found to be on crossfire of slut–shaming discourse on a college campus. It
was concluded, based on the research, the participants have significantly identified with judging a
woman by the way she dresses. It is recommended that further research be devoted to slut–shaming
perceptions in different: cultures, groups, regions, religions, organizations, media and institutions.

The Influence of the Student Protest Movement on United...
The 1960's was a decade filled with controversies and the fight for equality. The Student Protest
Movement was the fuel to the fire that feed many protests on several important matters. At the
beginning the students stood for a positive change in America. It is certain that such beliefs gave
theses activist the title of dreamers. They would start small but eventually make their way up against
the government, also known as "the man". The beginning of the movement held different beliefs
from what eventually cause its end. I believe that at first the movement had high hopes of achieving
success for others, but by the end, the movement accompanied by many opposing viewpoints, began
to lose sight of what they had set out to do in the first ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Unfortunately, the SDS was neither intellectually nor psychologically ready to take on the
educational system. The working–class whites seemed to be the right group for the radical student's
attention. This was clearly not revolutionary, but they were oppressed and the SDS with their
optimistic view, wanted to help. They organized in the slums where students would work alongside
the residents to better understand what they were going through. The problem with programs such
as these is that most of the organizers were students who, when school started, would have to leave
and attend college (Unger 60). Students who returned to campuses after these summer programs no
longer saw their campuses as safe. The University of California at Berkeley saw the greatest impact
from the mood set by returning students. Students began to protest the administrations control over
activities. Many students were passionate in the fight, however for some it was nothing but a
diversion from school and boredom (Unger 68). Those few students, who just wanted to cause
mischief, would start a how new side to the Student Protest Movement.
The SDS would fight for what it originally believed in, although several factors would add to its
inevitable collapse. Many protests in the United States, as well as around the world, became violent
and SDS couldn't understand what was happening with the Student Protest Movement

Campus Crime : The Dark Side Of The Ivory Tower
Over the last two and half decades, campus crime as a social issue has come to the forefront of
public attention and is regularly reported in both print and electronic media. Specific and general
legislation has also been passed in order to prevent campus crime from occurring as well as to
educate those who are either in danger of victimization or have the ability to prevent victimization
and assure that justice is done. However, campus crime is not a new issue in regard to its
occurrence, only in that it has finally attracted both public and media attention. Furthermore, Sloan
III and Fisher (2011) suggest that this movement to recognize and prevent the occurrence of crime
on college and university campuses (known throughout this book as the dark side of the ivory
tower) did not pop up overnight. Instead, they argue that through a long and arduous process, four
different activist groups were able to socially construct the problem as a proper and pertinent social
issue, and influence legislation designed to curb campus crime, and hold those responsible,
accountable for their action or inaction. Before exploring the process of constructing campus crime
as a social issue, Sloan III and Fisher (2011) found it necessary to report on the history of campus
crime in American universities as the majority of the public assumes that campus crime is a
relatively new phenomenon when in fact, campus crimes has been a prominent (yet not very visible)
issue since the founding of the

The last engagement activity I would like to highlight is the Career Fair. I think so far the Career

businesses and companies to discuss potential job opportunities and internships. The week leading

Concealed Guns On Campus : A Major Topic Floating Around...
Concealed Guns on Campus
Concealed guns on campus is a major topic floating around right now. Many people believe that it
would be beneficial to carry guns on campus. Some believe people should have the right to protect
themselves if there is a potential attack. It is a right to own a gun and to carry it, if you have the
right qualifications. If you can carry a gun anywhere else it makes sense that you should be able to
carry it on campus. A few years ago it was brought to attention about people being able to carry
guns on campus. At first it seemed like a long shot but now the argument has gained attention and
people have changed their views on the issue to agreeing that it would be good to be able to have a
concealed gun on campus. The first arguement for concealed guns on campus comes from
insiderhighered.com written by Kaitlin Mulhere. She states that so far eleven states are discussing
on being able to carry a concealed gun on campus. There has been at least one bill that has been
suggested in about half of the fifty states within past few years for guns on campus. So far, seven
states have made laws allowing guns on campus. Kaitlin says that there are two views on the issue.
One being that it is a constitutional right for one to be able to carry a gun. The second being that it
will make campuses safer from shooters and other criminals. It was brought up in the beginning that
armed people on campus could commit a mass shooting which worried many people. Kaitlin

Prejudice and Racial Segregation on Campus Essay
Racial Segregation on Campus
The practice of ethnic separation and segregation is common on every college and university
campus. Since this practice has happened through history, it is remarkable that this has only been
recognized recently as a true problem (Jacobs, 2). Segregation has hampered America as long as it
has existed. Ethnicity and segregation was nearly the cause of this country splitting apart during the
Civil War. Since then reformation and hard work has attempted to bring unity to this country.
Though today, college students have regressed, university pupils are "standing by" their own and are
not branching out to those who are unlike them in ethnicity. People in general, but more specifically

Also, it is natural to search out or relate to that which is "like" or common to us. These ideas form or
create the self definition of who an individual is. Cultural togetherness is not a bad thing. However,
these ideas have negative retributions when acted upon in extreme degrees. The individuality of a
group is wonderful, but not when it causes a cut off from other groups. What segregation brings or
prevents is the opportunity for experience of diversity or a wide range of livelihood in general.
There is more to the world then just you or just me. This type of separation causes barriers or
invisible lines and walls that are rarely crossed by people in our society today. These barriers
produce the loss of uniqueness among both a group of people as well as individuals. When everyone
is the same or alike, people lose the capability to be special or unmatched ( Myers, 34). Differences
and diversity should be celebrated as a chance or opportunity to be able to stand out as well as the
chance to educate each other about the creation of man and woman.
There are many cases of this happening in our society today: bussing, urban housing, race violence,
but a focus that affects the world now and the future of it is the separation on college campuses.
Particularly the occurrences at campus establishments such as university/ student unions and
sporting events. A spot or location on most college campuses that serves as the heart or center of the

A Study On The University Campus Community

The ability to teach myself about the obstacles I will face. I will bring hope to others when sharing

5. When you worry about tomorrow, you will ruin today.
The moments that we share right in this moment will never happen again. You should appreciate
every moment that you have. Every second that something happens. The majority of the fixations
you worry about don 't even happen. I've learned it's necessary to have 20 seconds of insane
fearlessness to perform something that you aspire to, although would be afraid. With this lesson I
bring to your school appreciation.
I was recently told a story of The Dead Starfish Beach by a man who uttered to me "I want to
change the world". I looked at him and thought how can one man that wants to tell me a random
story concerning a beach simply transform the world. But then I heard the beautiful story of The
Dead Starfish Beach. Thus to allow you to fully understand and relate to why this story had such an
impact on my heart, I will be obliged to simply tell you the story.
So there was a man who decided that he wanted to visit The Dead Starfish Beach to walk and clear
his mind. This man lived as a dreadfully narrow minded person that accepts occurrences simply for
what they are. As this man is walking down the shore of Dead Starfish Beach he spots an awfully

museum exhibits, speakers, entertainers, and ethnic festivals. The benefits that these events provide

This program is being presented in over 750 planetariums around the world as part of the
"International Year of Astronomy". Basically, it has been four hundred years since Galileo Galilei
invented the telescope and planetariums are celebrating the invention with this presentation. This
program was well worth the time to see because it provided a relaxed and interesting learning
experience for all in attendance. When entering the planetarium to experience this presentation the
attendee was seated in a very comfortable, reclining chair that made viewing the domed ceiling of
the planetarium very easy. When the presentation began the professor introduced himself and
explained what the audience would be seeing and learning about. The lights were dimmed and the
room became dark. The presenter then began the program by explaining and projecting what one
sees when observing the sky at various times during the day. As the program progressed, stars began
to appear on the ceiling of the planetarium. The professor then pointed out and spoke about the
various constellations (groups of stars) in the night sky. Once this portion of the presentation was
complete, the professor explained that the audience would be seeing a film about the history of the
telescope and how two small pieces of glass changed the way scientists and the general public view
the stars and the solar system. Following the film, attendees were asked if they had any

Living On–Campus vs. Living Off–Campus When going off to college, choosing where to live is an
important factor. One must choose to live on–campus or off–campus. This decision is one that a
person must choose wisely. Where a person will choose to live will depend on their personal
preferences. The differences in each choice will help one decide. Where a student chooses to live
will be based on what best suits them and their personality. There are many good and bad things
about living on and off campus. There are many pros when it come to living on–campus. One plus is
that one will have easy accessibility to the school and it's resources. Schools almost always have a

keeps a person close to all the activities that the college or university has to offer. Furthermore,
being close to events on campus will create a more lively social life. It allows a person to meet more
new people and form new friendships. Living on campus makes the college life a little simpler.
Most college students have a meal plan meaning they do not have to worry about when and where
they are going to eat. This also means less grocery shopping. But with the good always comes some
bad. There are a few cons to living on–campus. When living on campus, there is not much privacy.

Persuasive Essay On Banning Campus Violence
Banning Campus Violence The results of the illegal actions performed by the campus members lead
to the increasing number of victims of the violence at campus. The paper investigates the necessity
to elaborate the necessary measures and methods to stimulate the process of reducing and further
banning of the violence on campus. The essence of this approach is on the reasons, which should
motivate the education institutions' management to reduce the number of cases of violence on
campus. Therefore, the essential measure to ban the campus violence is the establishment of the
legal framework and controlling procedure over the students–members of the campuses as the cases
of the violent actions have recently become frequent enough and lead to the negative consequences
for the students' health and life. However, not all the scholars have a conviction that there is a need
to fight for the ban of violence on campuses. The audience of this paper can be diverse: from the
students to the employees of the educational institutions. The paper's structure applies the appeals of
ethos, pathos, and logos to make the reader's perception of the problem more serious and profound.
The paper comprises the statistics of the violent actions on campus which serve as a consequence of
alcohol and drug abuse by the students as well as the results of the lack of the gun control. Hence,
the research given represents a set of reasons, arguments, and counterarguments in terms of the

Sexual Relationship Life From A Contemporary Female 's...
Sex on Campus– She can play that game too written by Kate Taylor of the New York Times,
composed this article to shed light on college personal / sexual relationship life from a
contemporary female's perspective. The challenges these young ladies encounters of attempting to
discover and maintain an equilibrium of partaking in an enjoyable sex life while concentrating on
their scholastic and professional objectives. Over an entire school year, interviewed by Taylor, sixty
women were in a "Hook Up" relationship. The "Hook Up" defined as a person or persons to have
sex with very little emotional ties if any, or a one night stand. The women that were interviewed
attended The University of Pennsylvania, and Princeton University. "Hooking Up" or previously
entitled in the 80's, 90's and 2000's as "Just Kicking It", "Buddy" or "Booty Call", the concept
remains the same, however, with the turn of a new decade, the names change, but the concept stands
as the same, on the other hand with a feminist twist. Men for decades have taken advantage of the
"Hook Up", conversely over the last decade or so, there have been numerous professional women
who have taken control of their sexuality and have been initiating the "Hook Up". Conventional
courting within the higher institutions of higher learning as we once knew it has seized a
modernistic persona. This notion of having a "Sex Toy" encompasses far beyond the boundaries of

Should You Live On Campus Or Off Campus?
Each college student must answer one question: would it be advisable for one to live on–campus or
off–campus? Both of these alternatives have advantages and disadvantages, so while picking one
has to choose carefully. Entering college is terrifying and leaving home is nerve wracking,
especially when they happen at the same time. Although it may be scary, all the benefits of living in
a dormitory make up for it. While students who live off–campus can still have a pleasant college
experience, students who live on–campus can have an enhanced, social experience because they can
get more sleep and make lifelong friends.

One may spend forty minutes a day driving, which by the end of the school year would roughly be
eight–thousand minutes. Those extra minutes could be spent doing homework, taking a nap,
cleaning your living space, or showering. Another advantage of working on campus is that this
money can go straight towards your tuition. Students may be working for extra money, so instead of
taking the money, the school keeps the paycheck and puts it towards the student's debt. While some
jobs run late hours, it is convenient to have security to call so one can feel safe walking back to the
dorm.
Likewise, many campuses have security present all hours of the day and night. Take, for example, a
college campuses security having a cell phone and all students have the phone number. When on–
campus, a student gets out of their car at night and does not feel safe, one can have the security walk
them safely to their dorm. Security is also present if someone breaks into a car or robs someone 's
items. On–campus students can bring around their boyfriend, and some of them can turn out to be
dangerous. Security will be a phone call away to make sure they will stay off–campus. Off–campus
students do not have security always available to help out. Students can worry less knowing that
security is always on campus, which allows students to sleep better at night.
Correspondingly, living on–campus allows a student to get more sleep. While off–campus students

Argumentative Essay On Guns On Campus
Guns on campus?
Would school shootings be reduced if guns were allowed on college campus or would it make more
school shootings. Not very many people believe that guns were allowed to be carried around with
them throughout the day let alone a school campus, surprising adults and staff at colleges students
are allowed to have guns on college campuses in Georgia and Arkansas. Some people on these
college campuses feel that they need a gun to put a hold on school shooters or just for defending
themselves. But others feel that it jeopardizes the campus. It makes them feel in more insecure
because the students do not know who may have a gun on campus which makes students frightened
to just be on campus. With that information guns on college grounds is a controversial topic because
some people feel the need to protect themselves by having a gun on campus and others feel the need
to leave the guns and weapons to the authorities by not having guns on campuses.
One reason why guns should be legalized on a college campus is for protecting yourself and you
other peers. There is an argument going on whether or not guns should be considered on campus. In
Georgia, guns are allowed on campus and a few people state their opinion on this controversial
topic. In the article "Georgians have the right to defend themselves by Mandi Ballinger" The author
says "it is their own decisions to defend and protect themselves"(Ballinger 1). What this quote
means is that others feel like they are not

Open Campus Policy Analysis
The deaths of 32 Virginia Tech students, gunned down in 2007 on their own campus, incited the
crucial need for the reevaluation of the threats against public universities. In response to this horrific
event, the United States Department of Education and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI)
analyzed the factors associated with violence in institutions of higher education (par 1). In their
findings, it was revealed that the open campus policy of most public colleges has a 50% increase in
being targeted than other higher institutions (par 4). Why are public colleges becoming an
acclimating target for violence on campus? According to Behavioral Science and law professors J.

dinner for the family or something. You're just sitting outside waiting on your kid never shows up
then you get a call. Or cops come up to your house and tell you what happened. Or if the news
comes on and says such and such college got shot up so many kids got hurt, shot or killed. See if
your kid did have a gun he or she has a lot of a better chance to survive a college shot up because a

that they can carry guns you know that they have gun control classes so they have protection and
you wouldn't have to worry about your kid being killed because they have their own protection and
while police are out trying to stop them they have back up and the shooter doesn't have an idea of
you having a gun you could take him out from a different side.

Persuasive Essay On Visit To College
No matter what grade you're in, campus visits in any form are beneficial. A camp at the university or
college, a campus event, or your usual campus visit are all great ways to experience the place you're
considering calling home for your college years. My mom had some great advice in this process for
me which was what helped keep my somewhat levelheaded during the college decision process.
Don't wait until senior year to do your visits
This is a sure way to be incredibly stressed out. Amongst all the efforts to survive the year, don't put
yourself in the situation of making a four hour trip one way to visit a campus. It's a huge mistake.
My mom got onto me about this. She was excited for me to be preparing for this next adventure in
my life, but she and I had to coordinate schedules to make four or five hour drives over the course
of a day or a weekend.
With two of my visits, we drove down on Saturday, spent the night, did some seeing around town
(mostly involving food) on Sunday, and visited the campus on Monday in the morning so we could
drive back home on Monday. Make the most of your trip to the campus, especially if it's farther
away from home. Find a couple places to check out or make your study home while you're in
school.

Descriptive Essay On AAmethyst Night
AAmethyst Night It was late afternoon, a tuscan sunset Idyllwild ablaze as it neared dusk. With
doors exposing the symphony of music and chatter emanating from the common room, I stood
admiring the scene before me. Chloe, a light blonde haired girl with coral cheeks a year younger
than me, peeked her head into the room with pleading eyes which bore into my soul. Oh no this
little freshman is a little too happy, I'm guessing its another boy in her jazz band. She was
desperately begging me to come with her on a walk to discuss someone at camp who she was fond
of. I unenthusiastically replied yes, forfeiting the opportunity to participate in activities with fellow
campers. Struggling to move from my comfortable place on the plushy couch, I told her "I need to
get my phone from my room."
"Ok, hurry and get your stuff, I'm going to be on the deck" she laughing replied as she repressed a
grin of success. Grumbling as I grabbed my phone from my room and strolled back to the common
room, the door suddenly burst open, hitting the snowy peach walls with a resounding thud. That will
leave a mark. Before I can fully process who it might have been, out storms Chloe, with tear
streaked cheeks as well as eyes containing terror and confusion. Chasing after her, I frantically tried
to think of rational reasons for her to be in this state of distress. She was one to overreact but this
seemed real. As I caught up to where she sat down carrying a heavy heart, I knew she had

Advantages Of Living On Campus
Should I live on–campus or off? This is one of the biggest questions that almost every freshman
college student faces when entering the period of college education. It can be very difficult to decide
which choice is best for you since both alternatives have their advantages and disadvantages. Before
making the final decision between either living on campus or living at home and commute, there are
some points to keep in mind to make an appropriate choice. In fact, this decision is going to depend
in five mainly factors: the person's personality, financial situation, transportation, convenience, and
food. First of all, if you decide to live on–campus you got to remember that you will be always
surrounded by people and also, will have to deal with roommates, meaning that, you are not going
to have a lot of privacy. This may result uncomfortable for people who doesn't get along with other
or doesn't like crowds, however, if you are an extrovert person, it's going to be easier for you to
stumble upon friendships. In the other hand, if you have an introvert personality and use to avoid
large groups of people due to you rather spending time alone that interacting with others, staying at
home is the choice you should go for because you can have a place for yourself to be alone away
from people and, in addition, you decide if having roommates or not.

can be more expensive than

Speech On Freedom Of Speech
"Nothing about us without us," This was just one of many chants that echoed through the EMU
ballroom as a group of student activist, called the UO Student Collective, stormed the stage to
disrupt President Schill's speech. This act of protest came from our rights as citizens to use our
Freedom of Speech. As a result of the incident, President Schill was not able to personally address
his speech about what he was intending to do with the $50 million dollar donation, which none of
which was going to any of the outlets the students were bringing up in the protest. Ultimately the
students were escorted off of the stage and all seemed to be well but as time went on the sanctions
followed. Some students were accused of violating the "amplified noise" policy and could be struck
with disciplinary consequences. This seems to be a pitiful act by president Schill in an attempt to
win back control over the student body, but I have decided to side with the students. This raises one
personal question at issue, whether President Schill should set a meeting or an alternative way to
talk the issue out before punishing the students for protesting his speech? President Schill should set
a meeting or an alternative way to talk the issue out before punishing the students for protesting his
speech. Our nation was founded on a principle of freedom and equality and if somebody is going to
be punished for exercising those rights then there is something corrupt in the mix. Even though the
University of Oregon is a public campus, we have a set of rules and ideals that can suspend or expel
us for utilizing freedom of speech in a "negative" way. As those 45 student leaders took the stage on
October 6, 2017, they knew what they were getting themselves into and they believed they were
standing up for something right and something to support. In a smaller proportion they were
following in the footsteps of Martin Luther King Jr. As he did during his time as a civil rights leader,
they banded together and peacefully protested through freedom of speech and offered simple
solutions to their problems. The similarities within these groups were the same, as they peacefully
voiced their opinion, they knew the penalties that were to come. You may

Business Proposal For Library At The Exton Campus Of...

  • 1. Business Proposal for Library at the Exton Campus of... Business Proposal for Library TABLE OF CONTENTS Background??????????????????????????????1 Current Environment??????????????????????????.2 Proposed Environment?????????????????????????...3 Diagram???????????????????????????????.4 Benefits???????????????????????????????.6 Business Requirements and Cost Analysis?????????????????...8 Conclusion??????????????????????????????9 BACKGROUND I am proposing for a library to be put into the Exton campus of Delaware County Community College. There is currently not a library at this location. In order to have the use of a campus library we must go to the main campus of the college, which is approximately thirty to forty minutes from the Exton location. There are many ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A library that is closer for students would promote good learning habits and study skills. Students may not wait until the last minute to do their projects and papers because resources are more readily available to them. PROPOSED ENVIRONMENT The proposed environment will consist of a fully functioning library that is open to students and faculty free of charge. If an outside member of the community would like to use the library the school could charge them a small membership fee. This will help to raise revenue for the college and the library. For the first few years the library may be small but as years pass the library can expand to have more books, magazines, research materials, computers, etc. The library can also share with the main campus library in order to expand their materials and capabilities. I think many students and teachers would support the addition of a library to the campus.
  • 2. When the library is first constructed it should have at least a thousand books, several magazine subscriptions, and fifteen computers. Ten of the computers should be connected to the Internet and have common programs that students would use to write research papers and create presentations. The other five computers should be connected to research databases only such as Ebsco. There should also be a ?quiet area? where students can study, do homework, research material, read, write papers, etc. A ?quiet area? would give ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Hate Speech On College Campuses The First Amendment declares free speech to all types of speech by all of its people. The issue arises in a college setting where "hate speech" does not fall under free speech and is therefore enforced with speech codes. The biggest controversy is determining what is considered hate speech and what is not. So when did it become the governments job to determine a student's acceptance or disapproval of another individual(s) train of thought? Implying speech codes on a college campus only poses a threat to ones own freedom of expression and thought. Free speech in the form of hate speech should not be regulated on a college campus because it is often times understood differently by others, it also challenges our freedom of assertion and although ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Overall, speech codes on all colleges should not be allowed because they are not applied anywhere else. Students on a college campus should be allowed to accept or deny hate speech based on their own beliefs. The chancellor/government on a campus should not be the one to determine what is offensive and what is not. Hate speech can be defined differently by different people, some might learn from it, some might not care for it, but the truth of the matter is that everybody has a voice and nobody should be allowed to take that away from ... • 4. U3 Advisors Expanded The Chula Vista Team In 2015, U3 Advisors expanded the Chula Vista team by retaining the following four individuals to act in an advisory capacity on the project; Denise Ducheny, retired California State Senator, and Clarissa Reyes Falcon of Falcon Consulting, to act as the local representatives for the institutional recruitment process, and Eduardo Glandt, Dean of Engineering, Emeritus, University of Pennsylvania as an academic and institutional sounding board. We also consulted with Mexican– American Architect Enrique Norten who has close ties to Chula Vista as well as high–level Mexican governmental and higher education officials. PROJECT OVERVIEW The City of Chula Vista, California has engaged U3 Advisors to help establish a University and Innovation District campus on a 375–acre site in the southeast corner of the City. Chula Vista, a growing city located approximately four miles north of the US/Mexico border and midpoint between the downtowns of San Diego and Tijuana, envisions this campus as an educational destination and regional economic engine. U3 is guiding the effort to identify potential partner institutions for this project and is exploring opportunities with higher education partners globally and domestically. A new university campus could have a tremendous impact for not only the City of Chula Vista, but also the larger CaliBaja Megaregion, comprised of San Diego and Imperial Counties to the north of the border and the five municipalities that make up Baja California, MX ... • 5. The Importance Of Censorship In College Education The United States, the land of the free, prides itself in the rights given to its people. Despite the acclaimed freedom of America, Americans, especially college students, are not as free as the founding fathers would have hoped. When the First Amendment was adopted on December 15, 1791, Americans were given the Freedom of Religion, Speech, the Press, Assembly, and Petition. While the Constitution clearly grants these rights to all U.S. citizens, individuals still fight for these freedoms. Specifically, the Freedom of Speech is an ongoing issue which people continue to pursue. This freedom is essential to student growth in higher education, yet college students are often limited by what they can say while on campus. The censorship of individual and group speech threatens the purpose of a liberal education. It also limits the freedoms of a free society. Students should be encouraged to voice their individual feelings and views on worldly issues, instead of being shunned and threatened for doing so. The purpose of a liberal education is to not only to educate individuals but also to introduce them to the different cultures and beliefs of the students they sit beside during class. Exposure to the views of others allows students to expand their own knowledge on current issues, individual rights, cultural differences, and more. An important part of one's education is to grow spiritually, individually, and culturally, as well as intellectually. One must note that the experiences ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Free Speech on College Campuses Essay Kenzie Winkler Due: May 16th 2011 WR 122/ Wilde Final Essay #2 Importance of 'Free Speech' College is a time when most individuals are experiencing major changes and begin to explore new perspectives. The transition in becoming more independent, creating new insights and peer influence are key factors in changing the perspective of an individual. Students are faced with new ideas from their professors, family and fellow peers. Through that acquired knowledge many students decide that they either agree or disagree with the perspectives that they are taught. Allowing the right of 'Free Speech' on public college campuses has become an important issue that many public colleges are starting to address. In college students are capable of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Despite their opinions, free speech was a great way in this situation for students to rally together and publically inform the rest of campus of their beliefs. In the school newspaper, The Daily Emerald, CJ Ciaramelle wrote "About 300 students from across the campus community – student unions, Greek Life, the ASUO, the Survival Center, the Women's Center – showed up at the meeting to protest the Forum" (1). Although the majority of people protested against the forum the right to free speech, it is important because it allows students to make decisions on their own and invite students to do the same. "Free speech" often has negative connotations because the negative outcomes are publicized more than the positive outcomes. 'Free Speech' is a time for individuals to express their beliefs and topic on an important issue. People chose to present themselves in a vast majority of ways such as, holding signs, making t–shirts, shouting, etc. People who chose to present themselves in disrupting ways such as, foul language, inappropriate attire are more likely to be noticed than another student that is holding a simple and respectful sign. Schmidt states, "Universities cannot censor or suppress speech, no matter how obnoxious in content, without violating their justification of existence" (2). There is no definition of what type of 'free speech' should be censored and not allowed. With that said, there should not be a limit on 'free speech' ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Jesus Villahermosa Thesis After reading the essay written by Jesus Villahermosa I believe his thesis statement is "Given my extensive experience dealing with violence in the workplace and at schools and colleges, I do not think professors and administrators, let alone students, should carry guns". In his second paragraph, he lays out reason as to why he feels this way and shows that he can be considered an expert in firearm safety. Giving information into his background reinforces his position and add to his argument against arming people on college campuses. Some may be surprised that he is against having armed professors and students on campus because of his background. However, I am not surprised that he is strongly against having firearm toting professors, administrators and students throughout campuses. He is properly trained, experienced with firearm safety and marksmanship which in turn gives him great support to his argument. Villahermosa gave ample reasons to support his argument against carrying weapons on college campuses throughout his essay. The most persuasive reason he gives against guns on campus is "Will faculty and staff members be prepared to kill ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He gave clear and abundant reasons to back up his argument and laid out many consequences for having a policy that would allow guns on campus. With colleges already struggling financially a policy allowing guns would bring even more need for funding to cash strapped institutions. The training required would be extensive and costly to have competent people carrying and ready to use their gun if needed. The risks involved in allowing guns on campus seem to be extremely high and wildly unpredictable. It would make it harder for police to distinguish between the good guy and the bad guy in a crisis. Schools and employees would be subjected to lawsuits and even imprisonment if innocent bystanders are shot instead of intended ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. A Sorority Is A Subculture Or A Segment Of Society 's... All around the world sororities are a subculture or "a segment of society's population" on most college campuses (Macionis 64). These sororities have their own language, norms, beliefs, and values. Most college campuses have many charters or different sororities to choose from when a student wants to pledge a sorority. On the Saint Francis University campus, there are seven sororities that a female student can belong to. Each sorority has a different philanthropy which is a foundation that the sorority stands behind. For example Delta Phi Epsilon stands behind the Educational Foundation, this foundation helps women get the education that they deserve. Sororities are known for creating a bond between girls that last a life time. The sororities have their own language, they use words like pledge, bid, big, little, active, lavaliere, letters, and philanthropy. A pledge is a person who accepts a bid, and a bid is an invitation to a specific chapter at their school (Nakagoshi 1). When a female student wants to pledge a sorority they interview for a bid and the sorority decides if they want to have the new student pledge or not. If the pledge gets the bid then the student gets a big, a big is an older girl who has been part of the sorority for a year of more, and the big is like a big sister they are supposed to care of their "little" or new pledge (Nakagoshi 1). An active is a member of the sorority that has been part of the sorority for a few years. When a sister is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It is good to have diversity in a staff, but if members are in different stages of development, it could have a ripple effect and turn the whole organization around. Marcus, who was a part of the search committee for new RA's, seemed confused about the process of finding a new RA. Cheryl mentioned that interviewing was just one part of the selection, which indicated there is another part to the hiring process. Cheryl decided to go ahead and offer positions to the students of color, and these students of color will not have to do the second part of the process. Schuh mentions assessment as analyzing and interpreting evidence that describes institutional, divisional, or agency effectiveness (Schuh et al., 2011). Schuh then recommends evaluation to use the assessment to improve departmental and institutional effectiveness. To become effective as an organization, assessments and evaluations are important to produce success. Without assessment and evaluation, finding a good fit for a program will be hard. Cheryl did not do a full assessment of all the students when going through an interview process. She is having the students of color miss out on the next stage in the hiring process because they are of color. • 13. The Social Needs For Students ' Intellectual Development... Introduction: Background Generally speaking, universities place emphasis on students' intellectual development more than their personal growth. Nevertheless, many students experience college life stressful. College students often find themselves feeling isolated as they begin their lives on a university campus (Corey, Corey, & Corey, 2014). Therefore, their social needs in addition to their academic needs must be addressed (see Corey, et al., 2014; Ramsay, Jones, & Barker, 2007). Developmentally, college age individuals transition from adolescence to young adulthood (Gardiner & Kosmitzki, 2010). One of developmental theorists, Erik Erikson (in Lerner, 2002) postulated that young adults' developmental task is negotiating their identity within the intimate relationship. Furthermore, Côté (2006) stressed that reflecting and exploring their lives in adolescence to emerging adulthood helps them obtain what he called identity capital, which refers to "a repertoire of personal resources" (Côté, 2006, p. 91). It includes both tangible and intangible resources and attributes (Côté, 2006). Lack of engagement or passivity of adolescents and emerging adults result in diffusion ("apathetic noncommitment" (Côté, 2006, p. 104). Gleaning from these theorists' observations, college students face developmental tasks, which carry them forward to adulthood. Therefore, their social needs in addition to their academic needs must be addressed (see Corey, et al., 2014). The rate of international ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 15. Pros And Cons Of Living On Campus Life Almost every young person who enters college education faces a lot of decisions, including which courses they are going to take, which subject they will major in, and where they will live between living on campus or living at home. The on–campus dormitories have been lived in by many people and some of them have absolutely opposing opinions. The change from home to dorm life can be considered one of the most important events in the lives of students. Home life and dorm life present two different ways of living in different conditions. The choice between home life and on–campus life can lead to complete transformation of the life of a college student. On–campus life inevitably affects the lives of college students, as well as their home lives. Though both of these experiences affect students, there are pros and cons to living on–campus or off–campus, such as food availability, time management, finances, and social life. The most obvious difference between living on–campus or living at home while studying is food availability. The dormitory does not provide the individuals with an actual kitchen and has only a small space for refrigerating food. Living on–campus just provides students with mostly three options such as cafeteria food, recipes they can whip up in residence hall microware or the closest and cheapest fast food restaurants like Subway. Although all of these options could be delicious and tasty, sometimes it is not suitable with the students' taste, especially, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

An assessment done by the American College Health Association reported that roughly 53% of students were not engaging in the daily recommended amount of exercise (Bopp 359). To add to that, something that always comes to mind when thinking about college and health is the infamous Freshmen 15. In the midst of their busy lives with classes, friends, and extra–curricular activities, many students, particularly freshmen, are unable to find the time to work out. EZ Bike is a great way to help students incorporate a little more physical activity in their day while obtaining utility to get to places faster. A university survey shows that roughly one–third of USC students did not even exercise for a minimum of 20 to 30 minutes any day of week ("Healthy). By using a bike to ride around campus, students could easily obtain 20 to 30 minutes of exercise each day without even having to go to the gym. It is true that the implementation of a bike–share program will not completely solve the problem of college obesity or the Freshmen 15, but at the least, it can increase levels of physical activity and promote fitness. They organized in the slums where students would work alongside the residents to better understand what they were going through. The problem with programs such as these is that most of the organizers were students who, when school started, would have to leave and attend college (Unger 60). Students who returned to campuses after these summer programs no longer saw their campuses as safe. The University of California at Berkeley saw the greatest impact from the mood set by returning students. Students began to protest the administrations control over activities. Many students were passionate in the fight, however for some it was nothing but a diversion from school and boredom (Unger 68). • 21. Campus Crime : The Dark Side Of The Ivory Tower Over the last two and half decades, campus crime as a social issue has come to the forefront of public attention and is regularly reported in both print and electronic media. Specific and general legislation has also been passed in order to prevent campus crime from occurring as well as to educate those who are either in danger of victimization or have the ability to prevent victimization and assure that justice is done. However, campus crime is not a new issue in regard to its occurrence, only in that it has finally attracted both public and media attention. Furthermore, Sloan III and Fisher (2011) suggest that this movement to recognize and prevent the occurrence of crime on college and university campuses (known throughout this book as the dark side of the ivory tower) did not pop up overnight. Instead, they argue that through a long and arduous process, four different activist groups were able to socially construct the problem as a proper and pertinent social issue, and influence legislation designed to curb campus crime, and hold those responsible, accountable for their action or inaction. Before exploring the process of constructing campus crime as a social issue, Sloan III and Fisher (2011) found it necessary to report on the history of campus crime in American universities as the majority of the public assumes that campus crime is a relatively new phenomenon when in fact, campus crimes has been a prominent (yet not very visible) issue since the founding of the ... Many people believe that it would be beneficial to carry guns on campus. Some believe people should have the right to protect themselves if there is a potential attack. It is a right to own a gun and to carry it, if you have the right qualifications. If you can carry a gun anywhere else it makes sense that you should be able to carry it on campus. A few years ago it was brought to attention about people being able to carry guns on campus. At first it seemed like a long shot but now the argument has gained attention and people have changed their views on the issue to agreeing that it would be good to be able to have a concealed gun on campus. The first arguement for concealed guns on campus comes from insiderhighered.com written by Kaitlin Mulhere. She states that so far eleven states are discussing on being able to carry a concealed gun on campus. There has been at least one bill that has been suggested in about half of the fifty states within past few years for guns on campus. So far, seven states have made laws allowing guns on campus. Kaitlin says that there are two views on the issue. One being that it is a constitutional right for one to be able to carry a gun. The second being that it will make campuses safer from shooters and other criminals. It was brought up in the beginning that armed people on campus could commit a mass shooting which worried many people. Kaitlin ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Since this practice has happened through history, it is remarkable that this has only been recognized recently as a true problem (Jacobs, 2). The individuality of a group is wonderful, but not when it causes a cut off from other groups. What segregation brings or prevents is the opportunity for experience of diversity or a wide range of livelihood in general. There is more to the world then just you or just me. This type of separation causes barriers or invisible lines and walls that are rarely crossed by people in our society today. These barriers produce the loss of uniqueness among both a group of people as well as individuals. The Politics of Black Space theme of the publication chronicles the movement of Black student and progressive faculty leadership to form, and, by means necessary, force accountability of institutional practices that fail to accept responsibility for the intersectional oppression, racially–void curriculums, colorblind ideologies, and the hypocrisy of institutional claims that have a public face that they see a mission for justice and equality, ... • 38. Persuasive Essay On Visit To College No matter what grade you're in, campus visits in any form are beneficial. A camp at the university or college, a campus event, or your usual campus visit are all great ways to experience the place you're considering calling home for your college years. My mom had some great advice in this process for me which was what helped keep my somewhat levelheaded during the college decision process. Don't wait until senior year to do your visits This is a sure way to be incredibly stressed out. Amongst all the efforts to survive the year, don't put yourself in the situation of making a four hour trip one way to visit a campus. It's a huge mistake. My mom got onto me about this. She was excited for me to be preparing for this next adventure in my life, but she and I had to coordinate schedules to make four or five hour drives over the course of a day or a weekend. With two of my visits, we drove down on Saturday, spent the night, did some seeing around town (mostly involving food) on Sunday, and visited the campus on Monday in the morning so we could drive back home on Monday. Make the most of your trip to the campus, especially if it's farther away from home. Find a couple places to check out or make your study home while you're in school. 2. • 39. Descriptive Essay On AAmethyst Night AAmethyst Night It was late afternoon, a tuscan sunset Idyllwild ablaze as it neared dusk. With doors exposing the symphony of music and chatter emanating from the common room, I stood admiring the scene before me. Chloe, a light blonde haired girl with coral cheeks a year younger than me, peeked her head into the room with pleading eyes which bore into my soul. Oh no this little freshman is a little too happy, I'm guessing its another boy in her jazz band. She was desperately begging me to come with her on a walk to discuss someone at camp who she was fond of. I unenthusiastically replied yes, forfeiting the opportunity to participate in activities with fellow campers. Struggling to move from my comfortable place on the plushy couch, I told her "I need to get my phone from my room." "Ok, hurry and get your stuff, I'm going to be on the deck" she laughing replied as she repressed a grin of success. Grumbling as I grabbed my phone from my room and strolled back to the common room, the door suddenly burst open, hitting the snowy peach walls with a resounding thud. That will leave a mark. Before I can fully process who it might have been, out storms Chloe, with tear streaked cheeks as well as eyes containing terror and confusion. Chasing after her, I frantically tried to think of rational reasons for her to be in this state of distress. She was one to overreact but this seemed real. As I caught up to where she sat down carrying a heavy heart, I knew she had experienced ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 40. Advantages Of Living On Campus Should I live on–campus or off? This is one of the biggest questions that almost every freshman college student faces when entering the period of college education. It can be very difficult to decide which choice is best for you since both alternatives have their advantages and disadvantages. Before making the final decision between either living on campus or living at home and commute, there are some points to keep in mind to make an appropriate choice. In fact, this decision is going to depend in five mainly factors: the person's personality, financial situation, transportation, convenience, and food. First of all, if you decide to live on–campus you got to remember that you will be always surrounded by people and also, will have to deal with roommates, meaning that, you are not going to have a lot of privacy. This may result uncomfortable for people who doesn't get along with other or doesn't like crowds, however, if you are an extrovert person, it's going to be easier for you to stumble upon friendships. In the other hand, if you have an introvert personality and use to avoid large groups of people due to you rather spending time alone that interacting with others, staying at home is the choice you should go for because you can have a place for yourself to be alone away from people and, in addition, you decide if having roommates or not. • 41. Speech On Freedom Of Speech "Nothing about us without us," This was just one of many chants that echoed through the EMU ballroom as a group of student activist, called the UO Student Collective, stormed the stage to disrupt President Schill's speech. This act of protest came from our rights as citizens to use our Freedom of Speech. As a result of the incident, President Schill was not able to personally address his speech about what he was intending to do with the $50 million dollar donation, which none of which was going to any of the outlets the students were bringing up in the protest. Ultimately the students were escorted off of the stage and all seemed to be well but as time went on the sanctions followed. Some students were accused of violating the "amplified noise" policy and could be struck with disciplinary consequences. This seems to be a pitiful act by president Schill in an attempt to win back control over the student body, but I have decided to side with the students. This raises one personal question at issue, whether President Schill should set a meeting or an alternative way to talk the issue out before punishing the students for protesting his speech? President Schill should set a meeting or an alternative way to talk the issue out before punishing the students for protesting his speech. Our nation was founded on a principle of freedom and equality and if somebody is going to be punished for exercising those rights then there is something corrupt in the mix. Even though the University of Oregon is a public campus, we have a set of rules and ideals that can suspend or expel us for utilizing freedom of speech in a "negative" way. As those 45 student leaders took the stage on October 6, 2017, they knew what they were getting themselves into and they believed they were standing up for something right and something to support. In a smaller proportion they were following in the footsteps of Martin Luther King Jr. As he did during his time as a civil rights leader, they banded together and peacefully protested through freedom of speech and offered simple solutions to their problems. The similarities within these groups were the same, as they peacefully voiced their opinion, they knew the penalties that were to come. You may ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
