Essay about Time Management and Discipline
THE IMPORTANCE OF TIME MANAGEMENT AND DISCIPLINE
I am writing this essay due to the fact that I failed to show up on time to accountability formation at
0630 on 31July2012. I was informed the day prior of where my place of duty was and when I was
suppose the be there. I knew that I had to be at troop no later than 0615 in summer IPFU for PT. I
am aware that I agreed to the initial counseling that I was expected to be fifteen minutes prior to any
formation. I failed the standards that were given to me by my first line. I am fully aware that time
management is basic soldiering task. Failure of this basic soldiering task shows incompetence in
discipline. This also shows to others in our troop that my leadership is not keeping ... Show more

Before we can manage our time we must know exactly what time is. The dictionary describes it as,
the duration of one's life; the hours and days which a person has at his disposal. How we dispose of
that time is time management. It's the way we spend our time to organize and execute around our
priorities. Remember just because time is intangible doesn't mean that it is not valuable. I want to
teach you about the background of time management, the different styles and how to use them, and
how it will change your life.
"Time is a convenient concept invented to mark our days more precisely than morning, noon, and
night. In ancient times it was measured with shadow sticks and sundials. Now we use clocks.
Regardless of devise, time can't be managed. It passes. That's it." (Pamela Dodd). How convenience
for many of us would be, if instead of one day having 24 hours it would at least be 32 hours?
Sometimes I think to myself 24 hours in one day are not enough to accomplish all my needs. Being
in the United States Army for almost two years have taught me how to be discipline mentally and
physically tough but at the same time I still can't manage my time. Having two jobs as a civilian, full
time student in college and being in a relationship with a single mother. So, when I decided to take
this huge step I thought that by going thru a vigorous training, I was going to be able to have enough
discipline to introduce time management into my life. It is very

The Disciplinary Dilemma Of Tourism Studies
Summary of the Disciplinary Dilemma of Tourism Studies
Introduction
The study of the tourism phenomenon is a relatively recent addition in academic to achieve a goal.
Five main academic disciplines in tourism research have been identified by Jafari and Ritchie (1981)
which are economics, sociology, psychology, geography, and anthropology. A survey that conducted
by Sheldon from North American tourism and hospitality researchers showed that journal from wide
variety of disciplines were published and referenced included economics, business studies,
marketing, psychology, anthropology, and geography. Despite the diversity of disciplines impacting
on tourism studies, Pearce (1993) suggests that a greater tolerance for eclectic and diverse
approaches to investigated the pre–paradigmatic study areas, such as tourism.
The Disciplinary Dilemma
There is numerous discussions between tourism ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These scholars seem doubtful that a distinct discipline of tourism, such as tourismology, can or
should be developed. According to Jafari (1990), tourism education and research should remain
within existing disciplines, however, he also suggest that to developed a crossdisciplinary
"knowledge–based platform" based on a scientific foundation by the tourism scholars.
The argument about the development of disciplinary in tourism study is unlikely to be determined in
the near future. Tthe evolution of tourism studies as a distinct discipline will facing significant
challenges. So, these challenges may be provided by first examining the intradisciplinary conflicts
prevalent within each of the diverse disciplines were currently educated in tourism studies and then
moving on to explore the interdisciplinary issues arising among these various

Parent Support Groups Can Reduce Child Abuse Essay
Many parents lack the skills necessary to properly teach and discipline their children. As a result, out
of pure frustration, parents lash out physically and/or verbally. Hitting a child or yelling at one has
detrimental long–term effects. Parents–to–be need to be given strategies for dealing with discipline
issues. Support groups should also offer parent training. When parents have had a hard day, whether
due to work, family, or other persons or events, they tend to lash out without a thought at the
misbehaving child. The parent lets his or her anger build up, unable to release it toward the
appropriate situation he or she is actually frustrated with. "It's so easy to get caught up in their
moment of frenzy. It's hard to stand ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, it is it is not illegal for children to endure this type of punishment. Even more
unbelievable, priests say that the bible even promotes it. One priest, Reverend Ronald E. Williams,
says that a parent should use a wooden paddle and any "unwillingness to use physical correction is
'child abuse'". The bible can also be used to vindicate slavery, suppression of women, polygamy,
incest, and infanticide (The Humanist 2000). While all these inhumane actions are illegal, why then
is it appropriate to abuse a child out of anger or frustration. Unbeknownst to most parents, hitting or
yelling at a child has pernicious effects throughout that child's lifetime. Once a child is hit so many
times, hitting becomes a learned behavior that will follow him or her from school days where they
get into fights, into marriage, where they will possibly hit their spouse, and eventually will lead into
parenthood and become a form of discipline to their children. The New York Post says that research
indicates that when a child is spanked it could result in sexualized behavior and/or sexual deviancy.
When a parent yells at a child, he teaches that child that it is an appropriate outlet for the child's
frustrations. Hitting or yelling will also result in worse behaviors

How to be a Good College Student Essay
How to be a Good College Student College is a competitive environment; in order to succeed in it a
student needs certain skills. Those skills can only be learned. A college professor mentioned that
there five basic rules that need to be followed in order to become a good student: study, do all the
homework and the assigned reading, attend class, and, most importantly, develop self–discipline and
time management 1. In the following lines, a detailed analysis of those different steps will be done.
So, let's get started. First, we mentioned study. A good student has to do study everyday. Study
involves reading the textbooks, understand them, be able to explain it to others and sometimes
memorize the most important concepts. As a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The textbooks are usually large. The lecture giving by the teacher usually is a summary of the
textbook. When revising for the exam, it will be a lot easier for the student to cover the material.
Finally, we also mentioned the importance of time management and self–discipline. A student will
manage very well his/her time by identifying best time for studying, using distributed learning and
practice means study in shorter time blocks with shorts breaks between, reducing distractions which
can waste time, making room for entertainment and relaxation, making sure there is time to sleep
and eat properly and try to combine activities. For example, if a student is spending time in the
Laundromat, he/she can bring his psychology book to read. Managing time takes self discipline. The
same professor cited before said that "people who seem to have less difficulty with self–discipline
probably have simply had more practice at it". So, practice is what it takes to have self–discipline. In
conclusion, it is clear that being a good college student is not an easy task. It required good study
habit, class attendance, time management and self–discipline. It is not easy but it worth the hard
work. Because, as Jerome R. Breitenbach wrote, "the education you receive in college, and the
attitude you develop, will guide you for the rest of your life. Your grades will be especially
important in landing your first job, or when applying to graduate

Rhetorical Analysis Of Ben Stein's 'Birds And Bees'
Rhetorical Analysis Paper In the letter Birds and Bees? No, Let's Talk about Dollars and Cents, Ben
Stein writes an effective letter to his son in the New York Times. Stein writes this letter to inform his
son along with other readers of the New York Times about self discipline and how to achieve a good
stable life like his family. The purpose of this writing is for his son to be informed of what can be in
his future if he makes the right decisions. The tone is very informative and encouraging. This piece
of writing is very effective because the author gets the point across to his son by using anecdote,
proper word choice and repetition along with the use pathos, ethos and logos. The use of having an
anecdote is effective in this piece ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With the use of repetition in his words makes him use logos because it is logical to repeat important
things to an audience to make sure they hear the important points. Stein repeats himself by saying
the word "capital", and "self–discipline" along with the meaning of each to make sure his point is
made. He says, "The common denominator of all these bits of advice is the invaluable capital of
self–discipline; the self discipline to learn good work habits, the self–discipline to acquire education
in a field where there is a marker for your skills, the self–discipline to make connections and be a
good friend, the self–discipline to do a good job at your work, the self–discipline to learn about
investments, and the self–discipline to learn to save." It is obvious "self–discipline" is repeated for a
reason, which easily makes the point very clear to his son that having self–discipline is needed to be
successful. Stein also says, "You do not wake up at 3 A.M. worrying about money. Most of all you
have capital. That's the magic word. Capital– human and financial– lets you have an aura of safety
around yourself and allows you to enjoy yourself and not live in a cage of fear and insecurity. And
the first step and the last step towards capital is self–discipline." with the repetition of the word
"capital" to also help get his point across. Considering Stein repeats

Brunswick High. Emergency Procedures
Brunswick High
Emergency Procedures are located in the Policies and Procedures section. They are divided into 4
sections: Fire Safety Guidelines, Emergency Drills, Response to a Violent Incident (can be a student
disruption), and a crisis policy. The fire safety guidelines were more about the type of equipment
that could be used in the classroom, while emergency drills were broken into fire drills and tornado
drills.
Similarities and Differences
The similarities between Goodyear Elementary and Brunswick High were the fact that:
Both had a section in the handbook for emergency procedures that included fire drills, tornadoes,
procedures for death, suicide, and major student disruptions/response to violent incidents, and crisis
information
Copies of the Glynn County Emergency Procedure and exit routes are posted in the classrooms, and
Emergency procedures are explained on the first day of school.
While the elementary school provided a short description of their emergency procedures, it stated
that more information could be found in the Crisis Management Plan (also included in the Staff
Handbook). What's strange is that although a crisis management plan has been created, fire drills
were not better described nor mentioned all; not even the sound signal to look for. In the event of a
fire, younger students usually need more attention to care and calm down. Therefore, it would have
been helpful to cover fire procedures more thoroughly. In the high school handbook, the

Behavioral Techniques in the Classroom Essay
Behavioral Techniques in the Classroom
Very often, American parents complain that schools are disorderly and undisciplined. They claim
that their child's behavior has worsened and the child is using vulgar language. Teachers, however,
complain that students arrive at school lacking common courtesy and respect for authority. Because
of this, instruction time is wasted trying to obtain order (Bennett, et. al., 1999).
Student discipline is affected by classroom management. The way in which a teacher manages
his/her classroom delineates the type of instruction that will take place in the classroom. A
classroom in which the teacher takes total responsibility for guiding students' actions comprises a
different learning environment ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The clearer the structure in the classroom, the more freedom the teacher can allow students (Slavin,
2003).
Classroom rules are important in the smooth management of classrooms (Wardle, 2003). Effective
schools ensure that parents and students know what is expected of them. Their written rules clearly
define acceptable behavior and the consequences for breaking the rules (Bennett, et. al., 1999).
Class rules should be few in number, should be seen as fair and make sense to students, and be
clearly explained and taught to students. Class rules should become second nature to students
(Slavin, 2003). Not only must rules be clearly presented to students, they must also be implemented.
Students need to know that there will be real consequences for their misbehavior, not something that
they will feel is not a big deal. The teacher needs to be the moral authority in the classroom and it is
imperative that school officials and parents back up the teachers decisions (Bennett, et. al., 1999).
Teachers who do not establish their authority in the classroom often spend a lot of time dealing with
misbehavior (Slavin, 2003). Good behavior should be recognized and high academic standards
maintained. Students must understand that good manners are not a choice but a requirement;
however, teachers and other adults need to teach the students the need for self–discipline. If students
continue to be chronically disruptive, they should be taken out of class

Reflective Essay On Spiritual Disciplines
Throughout the semester I have developed an understanding for the spiritual disciplines; silence,
solitude, and Sabbath; which has taught me how to live an intention Christ–centered life. The
disciplines have not only helped my personal daily life, but they have also helped me better
understand Christ himself. I can, without a doubt, say that I know that God gave us the gifts of
spiritual disciplines to help guide us in the crazy culture we live in. I have gained a new appreciation
for the maker of our world as He has gone out of His way to love on us, and all He asks us in return
to practice disciplines and grow closer to him. The disciplines have have taught me that seeking God
is about more than just saying a prayer before bed. Instead, it is practicing the disciplines and seeing
His faithfulness through the actions. My practice of silence has taught me that the world is a loud
place full of so many distractions. This specific practice has helped me seek God, in a deep way, by
committing to listening to him in silence rather than wondering why I could never here him in the
midst of the crowds. My practice of solitude has become a sort of Bible study time for me. A time to
be alone and remember all the good our King has done and will continue to do for us. My practice
of Sabbath has helped me start of each week with a positive outlook. Surprisingly it has also given
me a deeper understanding of academics as well as it forces me to get my homework done before

Persuasive Essay On Child Abuse
NFL running back Adrian Peterson's recent arrest for allegedly abusing his four–year–old son has
once again sparked the debate over whether spanking is an appropriate form of discipline. Though
some contend any form of physical correction equates to child abuse, there is a giant chasm between
a mild spanking properly administered out of love and an out–of–control adult venting their
emotions by physically abusing a child.
At Focus on the Family we believe that parents have been entrusted with the incredible privilege and
responsibility of shaping their children's behavior in a positive direction. Unfortunately, each of us
enters this world with desires that are selfish, unkind, and harmful to others and ourselves.
Spanking, then, can be one effective discipline option among several in a parents' tool chest as they
seek to steer their children away from negative behaviors and guide them toward ultimately
becoming responsible, healthy, happy adults.
It is vital, however, that spanking be administered within proper guidelines. The reports about the
punishment meted out by Peterson to his son, and the consequent injuries his son suffered, indicate
his behavior on that occasion was far outside those boundaries. These kinds of experiences are why
this whole issue is fraught with controversy – a child should never be abused.
Properly understood and administered, spanking is most effective as a deterrent to undesirable
behavior for younger preschoolers (but never for infants).

Accountability Of The Army Is A Integral Part Of Discipline
Accountability in the army is another integral part of Discipline, Accountability as defined should be
understood as responsibility plain and simple. When the army asks a soldier, what is your
accountability? It is merely asking, who or what are you responsible for? It is the responsibility of
the service member to have within himself the desire to care for anything or anyone that is around
him or under his supervision. The great challenge that the army presents to all soldiers is for them to
understand and never forget, is that accountability is never given or in other words it is not forced to
be received, it is an offer is an invitation to remember and to withhold at all times. By nature, all
soldiers struggle with daily written and memorized tasks, routines that seem to become tedious and
nerve breaking at times, and the definition of accountability at many times seem to diminish in our
minds from "I need to take care of everything and everyone around me" to "did I forget something
that benefits myself". Three important words that easily identify a soldier and that it should make
him different from the majority of societies law breakers, irresponsible, unorganized, immature,
selfish, arrogant and pessimists individuals that consider themselves owners of the land that walk on
it but are never willing to lift a finger for the poor, the needy and the weak. These three words are

Persuasive Essay On Spanking A Child
Ponder this; you are a parent with only a seven year old child. Your child continues to perform an
act that you told them to stop doing, because they have already done it three times before. You have
had enough and decided to discipline your child in a way different from a stern discussion. You
decide to spank your child. Would you consider the spanking a form of child discipline, or would
you consider it child abuse? Are you expecting your child to learn from this disciplinary action, or
are you spanking your child because you enjoy knowing that you are in control and that you quite
possibly may be injuring your child?
According to Prevent Child Abuse North Dakota, "The goal of discipline is to create an orderly,
predictable, stable, and fun world to enjoy and grow healthy." When it comes to discipling a child,
there are many different courses of action that could be taken. Parents can and should discipline
their children (Smenyak). There is a large controversy over the most universal discipline method
there is, spanking. Many parents believe that spanking their child can be a beneficial way of
correcting a child if done correctly (Smenyak). Other parents believe that spanking a child is simply
abuse, that it does not work, or that "Spanking plants a seed for later violent behavior," says
AskDrSears.com.
One very simple word that describes discipline is training. A child is not born with the knowledge of
what is acceptable or expected. A parent must invest their own time and patience while showing
love and exemplary behavior while molding their children into becoming well behaved (Child
Abuse vs. Discipline). Being a parent is a hard enough job already, but when it comes to being a
parent having to discipline your child, it becomes much harder. It takes time for a child to learn and
process new behaviors, and this is a reason a parent must not have a short fuse when it comes to
discipling their children.
When it comes to discipline, people will either agree that discipline is a crucial way for a child to
learn the rules and gain values, or that discipline is abuse. Discipline is a parental response to a
certain action that has been taken upon by their child. If a child is expected to do

Essay On Child Discipline
Every human being has been disciplined at some point of their life. The term discipline can be
defined as to teach knowledge and skills; however, it is often equated to punish and control in
parenthood. The different ways to discipline a child has been a hot subject since the early times of
the biblical period. Many states in the United States had created laws to protect children from child
abuse. In the last decade child abuse has been on a rapidly growing issue. The goal of parenting is to
provide a child with the necessaries and emotional care to further their physical, emotional and
social devolvement. This can be a challenging task to meet because every parent has their own
discipline method to get their child fit for the real world, so they can be successful in life. The five
discipline methods are time out, Logical Consequences, Natural Consequences, Withholding
Privilege, and disciplinary spanking. Although many parents believe that disciplinary spanking is the
best discipline method for a child, but many studies shown that it should not be practiced due to
acting out of rage and can have future problems in a child adulthood. Finding the right discipline
method can be difficult and stressful tasks. Many parents want the best for their child as a result this
can create many issues to figure out which discipline method should be use. When a child doesn't
follow direction it can be a headache for a parent. Time out is a good method for younger children

The Effects Of Harsh Coaching Of Young Athletes
Harsh coaching of young athletes can often steer kids away from sports all together, but if the
coaches get it right, the kids learn important skills for their futures. At a young age, children need
discipline in order to put them in the right direction for their futures. This discipline is found in
numerous forms, and one of the most common forms is through sports. David Brooks said, "The
best coaches still live by a code, and they make no apology for demanding that kids live up to it."
(Brooks) Though strict coaching can turn some young children and their parents away from sports, it
can give kids a good role model, teach them discipline, and help them learn to get along with other
people. Parents often have concerns for how coaches treat their young athletes, but most coaches are
the best character role models that a child will have. As David Brooks, author of the article
"Organized Sports Can Benefit Children", says "Coaches have become the leading moral instructors
in America today." (Brooks). Groups like The Positive Coaching Alliance exist solely to keep
coaches doing their job of creating mature and respectful athletes (Positive). Children need these
positive role models in their lives. Even if a child has great role models as parents, it is even better
to have one outside of the family. A coach can serve as someone that kids should admire, love, and
respect even though they are outside of their family; this will prepare children for their future of

Essay 3: Appropriate Discipline Kids are tough resulting in the need for parents to be tougher but
are the methods used for discipline appropriate for all ages? From toddlers to young adults methods
of discipline need to change in order to teach obedience and respect. In a child's life they go through
five stages which include; Toddler, preschooler, grade–schooler, teen, and young adult. As a parent,
one should be able to grow and become better people along with their children. If parents are able to
adjust their disciplinary methods along with their children's age, then the subject of discipline will
be simpler and easier for both parents and kids allowing it to stay completely legal. "Judge Glenn

"Patrick, a child phycologist, also said discipline does not always need to be administered
immediately after the misconduct by a child. It is completely fine to send a child to his or her room
while deciding on what disciplinary action to use." (Sowinski). When considering methods of
discipline parents are typically not sure of what is effective and what is not. When presented with
this information parents would wonder, what is going too far? Well, when grounding a child for a
long period of time may be too much. in addition to not help change the inappropriate behavior
which was the desired result expected from the discipline. Patrick, a child Phycologist, said "at some
point the kid is like, 'I 'm grounded for weeks, I 'll do whatever I want, '" (Sowinski). Instead it is
recommended to "Use logical consequences. Some behaviors have no immediate consequences. In
these cases, determine consequences that are logically related to the misbehavior. For example, tell
your child that if he does not pick up his toys before bed, then he will not be allowed to play with
them for one whole day" (Disciplining kids changes with age). Simple discipline methods will result
in the outcome parents want while staying completely legal and effective. When does disciplining
your child go from effective to completely illegal? Take for instance the Baltimore case with Toya
Graham. "She was trying to stop her 16–year–old son

Children Should Start At An Early Age

Babies are born every day creating a constant demand for advice about every aspects of childcare

Being a parent is one of the most challenging task but very rewarding experience in life. I can say

In cases like these, people around us would judge us right away that we are not good parents and we
do not discipline our child.
How Can I Help My Child Learn Good Behaviour? There are lot of ways how to help our kids learn
good behaviour. All we need is to understand and consider them, that they are not perfect and often
makes mistakes just like we do. Here are some suggestions:
Offer Praise and Affection Regularly. For example, my son, Andrew who is two years old at that
time had drawn a squiggly lines and web–like scribbles on our white wall. After coming home
exhausted from work, he met me at the door and very proud and happy to show his drawing. Instead
of being mad, I composed myself and said, " Oh that is very nice, it is like a spider web, but next
time draw or write it in a paper" as I had literally gave a paper and crayons to him.
Plan Transition. Doing one activity to the next makes child anxious, we need to talk to our child so
they knew what to expect. Give our child advance warning when transitioning into another activity.
Example) "Two or more minutes playing with the blocks or dolls, then its' time to clean up". In this
way, they prepare themselves for the change of routine and move on to another activity.
Avoid stressful situations. Common triggers may include hunger and sleepiness, and quick change
of venues. So, plan in advance and anticipate our child schedules. Don't take our child shopping and
do four some

Summary And Interaction Of Celebration Of Discipline By...

Spirit Empowered Living
9 September 16, 2015 Summary and Interaction of Celebration of Discipline by Richard J. Foster
In the beginning of Celebration of Discipline, Richard J. Foster undergoes a thorough explanation of
our ages' most desperate need; deep people. He proclaims how our superficiality and lack of
common sense regarding spiritual life has crippled us and left us living in the surface rather than
depts. He mentions how we have gotten accustomed to relying on our own willpower ultimately not
containing the correct attitude or reasons for practicing the classical disciplines. Therefore, we lack
the pieces of our inward and outward life as believers of Christ. Foster ... Show more content on

This brings the second inward discipline, prayer. Prayer is mentioned as one of the most central
disciples due to its intimacy of conversation between us and god himself. Foster describes prayer as
our ability to ask for change in circumstances, "to pray is to change" (P.33). He explains how Jesus
often withdrew from the crowds to pray to his father. like so, we should withdraw from time to time.
Our disciplines can coincide just as fasting does with prayer; thus being the third discipline
prescribed. Fasting is the "abstaining from food for scriptural purpose." (p.48) and is said to be seen
as a desperate measure for emergency. Foster goes deeper into how and why a Christian should fast,
but mostly focuses on its meaning of self–control and its centrality being god. Foster's final inward
discipline is the practice of study. Study is the focus to our total transformation from our old selves.
It is a specific experience aimed to form Christian habits. With that, Foster breaks down study into
four steps; repetition, reflection, understanding, and experience which ingrain those habits. In the
second part of the book, Celebration of Discipline, Foster outlines the four outward disciplines.
These being; simplicity, solitude, submission, and service. Simplicity as foster states is "an inward
reality that results in an outward life–style." (p. 80) which is meant to live out. He says we should be

The Importance Of Parents Discipline The Children
How does one suitably discipline their children? Should parents discipline their children at a young
age? When is it considered too much or too stridulous? Is it legal? A numerous amount of parents
have stumbled upon these questions, but can't seem to find a concrete answer or are having a
difficult time trying to discipline their children. Countless parents don't even bother disciplining and
some try, but don't succeed. As a parent, one can verbally discipline them, or physically discipline
them. Both are legal, but disciplining them too harshly or too softy can affect the outcome of how
disciplined the child becomes. As seen in studies done in the past, disciplining your children at a
young age can drastically benefit them as they progress in life, aid them succeed in school, and help
them make wise choices. A majority of parents attempt to discipline their children, but it doesn't
seem to work appropriately. As the majority of parents have wondered, how should a parent
properly discipline their children? When is it considered too much or too harsh? A parent can
verbally discipline their children, or physically discipline them. Both may work depending on how
the child is. But, disciplining a child too softly or too harshly can do the exact opposite by making
them feel as if they are not controlled by their parents or make them terrified of their parents
(Ballard 16). For example, if a parent doesn't discipline a child enough, the child will feel like he is

Should The United States Use Corporal Punishment?
Child discipline is an important part of parenthood. It is challenging for adults to manage children's
behaviors and find the correct lessons that will benefit their children. According to the research
performed by Flynn (1998), most parents in the United States agree that "it is sometimes necessary
to discipline a child with a good, hard spanking" (p.26). Socolar et al. performed research which
agreed that "corporal punishment of children persists–roughly fifty percent of the parents of toddlers
in the United States use corporal punishment as a regular method of disciplining their children." (as
cited in Gershoff, 2010, p.32). That is not to say that physical punishment is the solution as it can
stop a behavior immediately but the results ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The laws in the states back this theory by allowing the use of reasonable physical punishment that
does not include a deliberate act to harm or injury children. (p. 1) The vague definitions of these
state laws the failure to define the limits between discipline and abuse have led to inconsistent
decisions in the judicial system across the country. Carlson, (2009) reported that although physical
punishment may stop a misbehavior on the spot some of the times; the effects of continued physical
punishment can lead to aggression and teach children continued abuse as they visualize the idea that
power comes from a large individual forcing a smaller individual to do something regardless of what
they are thinking. (p.2) The moment a parent physically disciplines children the stress may be
released for that moment but that act of punishment escalates without the parent noticing. Soon, law
enforcement officers at knocking on the door and another otherwise great parent is headed to jail or
worse, does not get reported and gets to do it all over again next

The Negative Consequences of Discipline
One of the fundamental responsibilities of schools is to keep its students and teachers safe from
harm and violence. Over the years, this has meant applying zero tolerance policies, which have
encouraged and led to overcriminalization and the over–intervention of the juvenile justice system.
This correlation between zero tolerance measures and the justice system has been termed "school–
to–prison–pipeline". Zero tolerance has, for the most part, worked; but do we like how it has
worked? Although this policy has some benefits, its biggest flaw is that it is disproportionately
applied to minorities, a trend that is largely reflected and reinforced in policies. From a legal
perspective, many questions are raised as to the constitutionality of applying punitive disciplinary
measures to students, seeing that expulsions and suspensions prohibit and limit student access to
education. Consequently, micro–level disciplinary alternatives have been developed, which aim to
rehabilitate "offenders" rather than punish them. These alternatives offer a balance between
discipline and the risk of overcriminalization, and include counseling, anger management sessions,
victim–offender mediation, and peer judiciaries. One central question that is raised throughout this

The Success Is The Accomplishment Of One's Goals
One of the meanings of the word success is the accomplishment of one's goals. Throughout our lives
we make a lot of goals because we want to be happy with ourselves. The majority of the time we
make a goal it's because we are motivated. We get ready to do anything it takes to accomplish our
goals because we believe we can. But people set aside their goals for numerous reasons. I myself
have set aside goals of my own numerous of times. The one goal that seems to bother me often is
working out on a consistent basis because I feel that I am very unsuccessful in this category.
Working out is very important to me because It's something I want to do for the rest of my life. Not
only does working out make me feel happy and productive, I care a lot about what my body looks
like. After reading Chapters One through Nine in Jeff Olson's The Slight Edge: Turning Simple
Disciplines into Massive Success & Happiness, I have come to the realization of why people who
are capable of success, never see it. He explains that there are small things we can do daily that will
lead us to a life of success. In Chapter One "The Beach Bum and The Millionaire" Olson calls these
things, "simple daily disciplines" (10). For these past three weeks I have been religiously practicing
Olson's guidelines and my progress has been unsteady.
My first problem that I have encountered while trying to accomplish my goal is, after about a week
of my workouts I started losing motivation to continue every day. I felt

Montessori Obedience Essay
"The power to obey is the last phase in the development of the will, which in its turn has made
obedience possible." (Montessori, 1988, p.239)
Montessori believed that the disorderly and disobedient acts of a young child where from those
actions that he/she had yet to develop and so where unable to control successfully.
Discipline and obedience could not therefore be inflicted on a young child as had been traditionally
thought, nor could it be sustained through rewards and punishments. "Obedience is seen as
something which develops in the child in much the same way as other aspects of his character."
(Montessori, 1988, p.234)
As Montessori observed, obedience is a developmental process and can not occur unless the child

When he/she is finished with the activity, he/she returns the apparatus back to its allocated place,
keeping the order within the environment. All the materials contain a control of error, avoiding the
need for a teacher to highlight the child's mistake, allowing him/her the freedom to correct
himself/herself, with out the need for adult intervention. He/she is then left and allowed the freedom
to carry out his/her task, as many times as he/she wants, for as long as he/she wants without any
unnecessary interruptions.
With this constant cycle of activity begins a process and through the many repetitions of the exercise
the child gradually becomes aware, and conscious of his/her actions that his/her hands are
performing. Through this awareness, his/her actions can no longer be considered a product of an
inner desire, but have become actions performed with a consciousness and deliberation.
"That which at first was but a vital impulse (horme) has become a deliberate act. The child's first
movements where instinctive. Now he acts consciously and voluntarily and with this comes the
awakening of the spirit." (Montessori, 1988, p.231)
From observations made by Maria Montessori we have come to the understanding that discipline is
a maturational process and can not be present in a child who has yet to develop his/her own will.

Discipline In Medieval Age: 5th To 15th Century
Discipline is obeying the superior authority, accepting what is normal in family, society, country,
and even the world. The world works the way they do because of the discipline. There are two types
of discipline, internal and external. Internal discipline comes from oneself, for example, when a
person wants to discipline their self to respect everyone they meet. Internal discipline is when a
person accepts to control their self, and refrain from certain things. External discipline is often
enforced by the superior authority, usually by the governments. To better illustrate discipline I will
be using these words; Medieval Age: 5th to 15th century; deviate: to go against the normal; sodomy:
an act of having anal or oral sex.

The Importance of Discipline
The Importance of Discipline
By: Alexis Wagner
June 14, 2013
The dictionary definition for discipline is "a branch of learning, training that develops self–control."
Discipline to me is a form of work that takes time; but, in the end works for your good. A person can
be someone "disciplined" or taught a new way of doing something they can't or don't want to do, or
be self–disciplined, already possessing an inner strength of mind and determination to do these
things own their own. (Control is a key factor in self–discipline.) Mastering the ability to make
yourself do something over and over again until you get it right is self–discipline. Without discipline
no one would push themselves or be pushed by others into achieving things ... Show more content

Obedience is being willing to do a command , being able to follow instructions, being able to do
things as they were told (meaning correctly), and being able to do this when they were told.
Obedience shows a common feature that we see with discipline.
If you can sing very well but your singing coach wants you to sing it an octave higher, that is an
example of where discipline is needed. You need to first accept the fact that the coach is trying to
help you and improve your singing abilities. You have to get out of your comfort zone and work
towards hitting that note and achieving that goal. Instead of you looking at the task as a form of
punishment, you should look at it as reaching a higher ground, or going to the next level in your
singing career. All of these things you must do to accomplish that one task, and not only will it
require dedication, it will require discipline, not only for others but for you.
Discipline in schools may reduce the violence and vandalism and help students to focus better on
their studies and future careers. Discipline is important in the households most of all. Parents must
raise their children in a pleasant and disciplined atmosphere. They should teach them the right
values. They should themselves lead an orderly life so that their children can learn from their
examples. Talking less in class, raising your hand, asking questions, talking softer, and speaking up

The Case Of Trayvon Martin Vs. George Zimmerman
 M–The case of Trayvon Martin vs. George Zimmerman. This was a case where a 17 year old
African American, male was shot and killed within 70 yards of the home in which he was residing in
at the time, located at Retreat at Twin Lakes Gated Community in Sanford, Florida, by George
Zimmerman. George Zimmerman was a 28 year–old Hispanic male, who was a neighborhood
watchman for the Retreat at Twin Lakes Gated Community in Sanford, Florida.  E– George
Zimmerman had previous experiences with watching the neighborhood in the prior months when he
saw some other crimes that had taken place, a few that were noted by Zimmerman, they were
burglaries of homes being broken into by African–American males. However, the suspects of those
crimes were not caught because they were either scared off by police or they had already gotten
away prior to authorities getting to the scene.  A–In Zimmerman's statement, he voiced concern
for the community that he did not like that nothing could be done about these crimes and that the
suspects were getting away. It would not be presumptuous to say that Zimmerman was frustrated by
these situations and that he could only sit by and 'watch' as these crimes took place. Zimmerman
was instructed by the 911 operator when he called in to report a 'suspicious person', to stay in his
vehicle until authorities had arrived. Zimmerman disregarded the instructions by the operator and
pursued the 'suspicious person' by himself. That 'suspicious person' was

Mindfulness Reflection Paper
I have a somewhat regular, yet sincere contemplative mindfulness practice that helps me understand
why I experience life the way I do both internally and externally. I get to see my own urges, those
I'm not really aware of such as the urge to multi–task. Practicing mindfulness meditation and other
mindfulness practices I learned to become in touch with my own urges and to control them through
awareness and self discipline. So, here are a few reflections for your coffee time. As you sip on your
deliciously made aromatic coffee, tea or hot cocoa accept these thoughts for your reflection.
Finally, at the 3rd mindfulness class I took with Daniel, I decided to do the homework he had
suggested to everyone, which was to do one thing we do routinely during the day, mindfully. That is
to be with the experience of it and fully giving it our undivided attention. For example, if we chose
brushing our teeth, he said, to brush slowly, feel every stroke as the brush moved around the mouth,
what it felt like, the taste of the tooth paste, what the mind was doing; observe everything about that
experience, while also focusing on our breath. This was our mindfulness exercise, which to me
didn't sound too exciting. It took a lot of self discipline to be able to stay with an activity and not
wonder off in the mind. So,I never did the tooth brush exercise.
Until that final day of having burnt my 967th pita bread and screamed to myself, "this is so
annoying. It's not acceptable anymore!"

Motivation Of Professionalism And Success
Maxwell Almaguer
Professor Lace
English 101
28 February 2015
Motivation to Professionalism Student professionalism and success are required to work together to
motivate the student to be an efficient employee in the future. I am a good example of a student in
progress because I always arrive on time to my classes or work; follow any directions from my
professors or employers, and follow ethics that influence my professional behavior towards other
individuals. These ideas and ethics will benefit me in the future because it will satisfy the
requirements of employers and will assist me in to obtaining promotions. Professionalism and
success is what humans need to survive in modern society. As you read, you will need a basic
understanding of ethics and what do they propose towards professionalism. My ethics allowed me to
be a great example of student success because every day is one step closer to my educational goals.
In order to reach my educational goals, I must follow three simple expectations; arrive on time to
class and work to be prepared for assignments and tasks provided by the professor or supervisor.
When I follow my ethics, it allows me to behave professionally and accomplish my responsibilities
as they come and go. For professional behavior, my definition for student success has now expanded
beyond the achievement of goals into a larger realization that success is interdependent and
systemic. It doesn't begin and end with the individual or even two individuals.

The Good Role Models For Young Athletes
Harsh coaching of young athletes can often steer kids away from sports altogether, but if the coaches
get it right, the kids learn important skills for their futures. At a young age, children need discipline
in order to put them in the right direction for their futures. This discipline is found in numerous
forms, and one of the most common forms is through sports. As David Brooks, author of the article
"Organized Sports Can Benefit Children", says, "The best coaches still live by a code, and they
make no apology for demanding that kids live up to it" (Brooks). This code makes coaches
respectable role models for young athletes. Though coaching techniques are often critiqued,
coaching should not be regulated because most coaches give athletes a good role model to look up
to, teach them discipline, and help them learn to get along with others. Parents often have concerns
for how coaches treat their young athletes, but most coaches are the best character role models that a
child will have. David Brooks says, "Coaches have become the leading moral instructors in America
today." (Brooks). Groups like The Positive Coaching Alliance exist solely to help coaches do their
job of creating mature and respectful athletes (Positive). Children need these positive role models in
their lives because kids are easily influenced, and good influencers are key. Even if a child great
parents as role models, it is even better to have one outside of the family. A coach can serve as

Grievance and disciplinary
Critically explain the key skills required to prepare, conduct and conclude grievance and
disciplinary cases effectively (40%)
Discipline and grievance are often put together, however, 'most organisations try to keep discipline
and grievance apart, therefore to distinguish the idea that there are a number of conceptual and
practical differences between discipline and grievance' (Dundon and Rollinson, 2011).
Discipline is defined as 'some action taken against an individual who fails to conform to the rules of
an organisation of which he or she is a member', (Wheeler, 1976, as cited by Dundon and Rollinson,
2011).
The grievance procedure can be defined in many ways, the International Labour Organisation

When preparing for a grievance meeting, managers should arrange a meeting in private, consider
having someone that is not involved in the case to take notes, consider any special requirements for
the employee if they have difficulty conversing in English, or is perhaps disabled and consider
whether to offer independent mediation.
When conducting the grievance meeting, managers are expected to make introductions as necessary,
give the employee an opportunity to restate their grievance and how they wish for it to be solved,
put care and thought into resolving the grievance, consider adjourning the meeting if it is necessary
to investigate any new facts which arise and sum up the main points from the meeting (ACAS,
2015). When concluding the meeting, it is important for the manager to keep the employee in the
know by informing them on when they can expect a response if one cannot be made immediately
(ACAS, 2015).
Disciplinary procedures follow a similar process to grievance procedures although they are not
exactly the same. For example, employers should talk to the employee in private if they feel the
employee is not performing to expected standards. The discussion should be encouraging
performance and any criticism should most definitely be constructive in order to keep the rapport
intact. The manager should make it clear to the

Time, Work-Discipline And Industrial Capitalism
In E.P. Thompson's essay "Time, Work–Discipline, and Industrial Capitalism", he argues how the
rise of standardized time, which coincided with employed labor and capitalism, changed how people
view time from how "time passes" to "time spent". Time became a commodity in which it could be
bought and sold. Time that was not spent "properly" was considered wasted, which Thompson calls
time–thrift, which preindustrial societies were not very preoccupied with in comparison. Thompson
explores this transition of the sense of time in relationship to the Industrial Revolution, benefits and
disadvantages to the new time–discipline, and a possible mixture of the old and new time–
disciplines in the future.
Thompson starts out describing how people measured time before clocks and the Industrial
Revolution. People measured time in units of domestic activities or natural phenomena, which can
be described as task–orientation. Thompson considers this type of time–measuring to be "natural"
and believes that a task–oriented society results in little distinction between work and life. However,
to people used to timed labor, such an attitude to labor appeared to be wasteful.
When employed labor is involved, productivity in terms of time becomes important, because the
employer generally pays the worker in terms of time. For many jobs, then a shift from task–
orientation to timed labor occurs, as the laborer's time becomes the employer's money. Thus, a
separation between work and leisure occurs, as

The Effects Of Music Education On Mainstream Education Essay
This research focuses on answering if music education has enough crossover benefit to include it
into our mainstream education. Two scholarly articles, a blog, a personal story and an online article
were selected and consulted to find the answer to this question. Many authors in many articles had
minimal criticism of music education and most were in favor of music education. Findings were that
yes, music education does in fact have enough crossover benefit to include it into mainstream
education. Music education may be time consuming and sometimes expensive, yet the benefits of
self–discipline, deeper conceptual thinking, more developed brain function, and endless creativity of
students makes it very worthwhile.
Henry David Thoreau once stated, "If a man does not keep pace with his companions, perhaps it is
because he hears a different drummer. Let him step to the music which he hears, however measured
or far away." People have different perceptions about everything, but some statements are simply
fact. Though fact may be fact, opinion and perspective plays a huge role in our society, especially
the education side of society. Everyone on Earth has experienced music in some way, but a question
some have pondered is, does music education have enough crossover benefit to academics to
include it in our mainstream education? As we explore the pages upon pages of research on this
topic, it is to be found that music education provides more than enough crossover

Prevention is best done by making company standards known and understood in advance. The basic
objectives however is to encourage employee self discipline. In this way the employees maintain
their own discipline rather than have management impose it. Employees are more likely to support
standards that they have helped create. They also will give more support to standards that are stated
positively instead of negatively, and when they have been told the reasons behind a standard so that
it will make sense to them.
Corrective discipline:
Corrective discipline is action that follows infraction of a rule; it seeks to discourage further
infractions so that future act will be in compliance with standards. Typically the corrective action is
a penalty of some type and is called a disciplinary action. Examples are a warning or suspension
with or without pay.
POLICIES OF DISCIPLINARY ACTION
In any social system, irrespective of its nature, it is important for the participant to determine a set of
rules that will regulate the conduct of its members and should be observed in order to function
successfully.
Similarly so it is important in the workplace to determine a set of policies to regulate the
relationship between the employees and the employer in the form of a disciplinary procedure.
The code is based on the following principles:–
The right of management to take appropriate disciplinary steps against any worker, who acts in a

Foucault 's Society Of Discipline
With reference to at least three of the four thinkers whose work we discussed in class, and in
response to one of the following quotations, write an account of the Societies of Control:
"Everywhere the hypothesis of the self is beginning to crack"
Defined as "the entire person of an individual" (Merriam–Webster, 2017), it is interesting to
consider the different ways 'the self' has been interpreted through different societies. In Foucault's
Societies of Discipline (S.O.D), a previous economy of power, it would have been simple to define
the self – discipline "'makes' individuals" (Foucault, 1977, p.170) and in doing so this intrinsic sense
of the self. However does this hold true in our current social scenario? Deleuze states that the ...

It was by doing this that the disciplinary self was created – "discipline 'makes' individuals", a
phenomenon of the disciplinary era (1977, p.170). Our movement through the institutions defined
our individualisation; normalising, examining and hierarchically observing each member of society
(Foucault, 1977) – our sense of self emerged from their intersections. In Postcript on the Societies of
Control (1992), Deleuze states the S.O.D have made way for the S.O.C. He mainly attributes this
shift to the environments of "enclosure" (1992, p.4) – the institutions – beginning to crumble, and
the factory – a typical workplace on the S.O.D – being replaced by the corporation (1992). In the
S.O.D Foucault claimed that the soldier can be moulded like "a formless clay" (1977, p.135) – these
rigid institutions formed us. Now without these institutions we lose this mould, and therefore our
concept of the 'self'. Imagine if instead of pushing clay into a mould we placed it on a desk; it would
be shapeless and adaptable. This according to Deleuze is a defining characteristic of the S.O.C;
flexibility in our structures moving us from moulds to "modulations" (1992, p.4). These modulations
are "a self–deforming cast that will continuously change from one moment to the other" (1992, p.4).
Instead of experiencing these rigid disciplines, we are left in this soft, malleable environment, which

Roman Army Discipline
Discipline is the practice of forcing people to follow societal norms. This has been necessary for all
groups of humans that work together. Even early Paleolithic humans worked in groups where some
form of discipline would be necessary. Different methods and goals of discipline have been
observed over time. The differences are due to varying military and political needs.
The Roman army used discipline for advanced strategy in warfare as well as state expansion. Rome
was a vast empire and sought to conquer many of the surrounding territories to acquire wealth and
resources. They were constantly adopting and developing military tactics that would help them gain
a military edge. One of these innovations was the organization of their troops into a checkerboard

One aspect of guerrilla warfare is to cut resources off from the enemy. This could be done by
destroying telephone poles, sewers, railroads, or water mains. Guerrilla fighters needed to be
coordinated to execute these plans without the enemy catching them. The risk of such an operation
was high because the fighters would lose if the conventional army directly confronted them.
Discipline enabled the fighters to be able to focus on a mission and execute it swiftly and covertly.
Also, the eventual goal in this conflict was to develop a conventional army. Guerrilla warfare was a
defensive battle. It was nigh impossible to capture strategic points from the enemy. Developing a
conventional army would let resistive forces capture new territory and forcibly push out the enemy.
After years of discipline in the guerrilla army, the people would become well–trained soldiers that
could be organized into a more conventional army. This aspect of discipline shares a similarity with
the Romans. Discipline was used to increase the tactical strength of their

brushing our teeth, he said, to brush slowly, feel every stroke as the brush moved around the mouth,
what it felt like, the taste of the tooth paste, what the mind was doing; observe everything about that
experience, while also focusing on our breath. This was our mindfulness ... Show more content on

I had to find out. Hence, this became my mindfulness exercise for my homework. Oh boy, was I in
for a huge lesson in getting to know how I went about living life... while I stayed with my pita bread
to heat it up I followed the instructions of my teacher, feeling all my feelings, being with the
experience, being with my breath, etc. I observed how absolutely difficult it was for me to just do
one thing at a time. I saw how I could not stay put for twenty seconds to finish this task. The urge to
run and do other things was overwhelming. I'd leave the stove to get something from the fridge, to
wash vegetables, cut them, put on music and so many other things while leaving the bread on the
fire and rushing to turn it over in between all those other tasks. And of course, it would burn

Essay About Time Management And Discipline

  • 1. Essay about Time Management and Discipline THE IMPORTANCE OF TIME MANAGEMENT AND DISCIPLINE I am writing this essay due to the fact that I failed to show up on time to accountability formation at 0630 on 31July2012. I was informed the day prior of where my place of duty was and when I was suppose the be there. I knew that I had to be at troop no later than 0615 in summer IPFU for PT. I am aware that I agreed to the initial counseling that I was expected to be fifteen minutes prior to any formation. I failed the standards that were given to me by my first line. I am fully aware that time management is basic soldiering task. Failure of this basic soldiering task shows incompetence in discipline. This also shows to others in our troop that my leadership is not keeping ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Before we can manage our time we must know exactly what time is. The dictionary describes it as, the duration of one's life; the hours and days which a person has at his disposal. How we dispose of that time is time management. It's the way we spend our time to organize and execute around our priorities. Remember just because time is intangible doesn't mean that it is not valuable. I want to teach you about the background of time management, the different styles and how to use them, and how it will change your life. "Time is a convenient concept invented to mark our days more precisely than morning, noon, and night. In ancient times it was measured with shadow sticks and sundials. Now we use clocks. Regardless of devise, time can't be managed. It passes. That's it." (Pamela Dodd). How convenience for many of us would be, if instead of one day having 24 hours it would at least be 32 hours? Sometimes I think to myself 24 hours in one day are not enough to accomplish all my needs. Being in the United States Army for almost two years have taught me how to be discipline mentally and physically tough but at the same time I still can't manage my time. Having two jobs as a civilian, full time student in college and being in a relationship with a single mother. So, when I decided to take this huge step I thought that by going thru a vigorous training, I was going to be able to have enough discipline to introduce time management into my life. It is very ... • 3. The Disciplinary Dilemma Of Tourism Studies Summary of the Disciplinary Dilemma of Tourism Studies Introduction The study of the tourism phenomenon is a relatively recent addition in academic to achieve a goal. Five main academic disciplines in tourism research have been identified by Jafari and Ritchie (1981) which are economics, sociology, psychology, geography, and anthropology. A survey that conducted by Sheldon from North American tourism and hospitality researchers showed that journal from wide variety of disciplines were published and referenced included economics, business studies, marketing, psychology, anthropology, and geography. Despite the diversity of disciplines impacting on tourism studies, Pearce (1993) suggests that a greater tolerance for eclectic and diverse approaches to investigated the pre–paradigmatic study areas, such as tourism. The Disciplinary Dilemma There is numerous discussions between tourism ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These scholars seem doubtful that a distinct discipline of tourism, such as tourismology, can or should be developed. According to Jafari (1990), tourism education and research should remain within existing disciplines, however, he also suggest that to developed a crossdisciplinary "knowledge–based platform" based on a scientific foundation by the tourism scholars. The argument about the development of disciplinary in tourism study is unlikely to be determined in the near future. Tthe evolution of tourism studies as a distinct discipline will facing significant challenges. So, these challenges may be provided by first examining the intradisciplinary conflicts prevalent within each of the diverse disciplines were currently educated in tourism studies and then moving on to explore the interdisciplinary issues arising among these various ... • 5. Parent Support Groups Can Reduce Child Abuse Essay Many parents lack the skills necessary to properly teach and discipline their children. As a result, out of pure frustration, parents lash out physically and/or verbally. Hitting a child or yelling at one has detrimental long–term effects. Parents–to–be need to be given strategies for dealing with discipline issues. Support groups should also offer parent training. When parents have had a hard day, whether due to work, family, or other persons or events, they tend to lash out without a thought at the misbehaving child. The parent lets his or her anger build up, unable to release it toward the appropriate situation he or she is actually frustrated with. "It's so easy to get caught up in their moment of frenzy. It's hard to stand ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, it is it is not illegal for children to endure this type of punishment. Even more unbelievable, priests say that the bible even promotes it. One priest, Reverend Ronald E. Williams, says that a parent should use a wooden paddle and any "unwillingness to use physical correction is 'child abuse'". The bible can also be used to vindicate slavery, suppression of women, polygamy, incest, and infanticide (The Humanist 2000). While all these inhumane actions are illegal, why then is it appropriate to abuse a child out of anger or frustration. Unbeknownst to most parents, hitting or yelling at a child has pernicious effects throughout that child's lifetime. Once a child is hit so many times, hitting becomes a learned behavior that will follow him or her from school days where they get into fights, into marriage, where they will possibly hit their spouse, and eventually will lead into parenthood and become a form of discipline to their children. The New York Post says that research indicates that when a child is spanked it could result in sexualized behavior and/or sexual deviancy. When a parent yells at a child, he teaches that child that it is an appropriate outlet for the child's frustrations. Hitting or yelling will also result in worse behaviors ... • 7. How to be a Good College Student Essay How to be a Good College Student College is a competitive environment; in order to succeed in it a student needs certain skills. Those skills can only be learned. A college professor mentioned that there five basic rules that need to be followed in order to become a good student: study, do all the homework and the assigned reading, attend class, and, most importantly, develop self–discipline and time management 1. In the following lines, a detailed analysis of those different steps will be done. So, let's get started. First, we mentioned study. A good student has to do study everyday. Study involves reading the textbooks, understand them, be able to explain it to others and sometimes memorize the most important concepts. As a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The textbooks are usually large. The lecture giving by the teacher usually is a summary of the textbook. When revising for the exam, it will be a lot easier for the student to cover the material. Finally, we also mentioned the importance of time management and self–discipline. A student will manage very well his/her time by identifying best time for studying, using distributed learning and practice means study in shorter time blocks with shorts breaks between, reducing distractions which can waste time, making room for entertainment and relaxation, making sure there is time to sleep and eat properly and try to combine activities. For example, if a student is spending time in the Laundromat, he/she can bring his psychology book to read. Managing time takes self discipline. The same professor cited before said that "people who seem to have less difficulty with self–discipline probably have simply had more practice at it". So, practice is what it takes to have self–discipline. In conclusion, it is clear that being a good college student is not an easy task. It required good study habit, class attendance, time management and self–discipline. It is not easy but it worth the hard work. Because, as Jerome R. Breitenbach wrote, "the education you receive in college, and the attitude you develop, will guide you for the rest of your life. Your grades will be especially important in landing your first job, or when applying to graduate ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 9. Rhetorical Analysis Of Ben Stein's 'Birds And Bees' Rhetorical Analysis Paper In the letter Birds and Bees? No, Let's Talk about Dollars and Cents, Ben Stein writes an effective letter to his son in the New York Times. Stein writes this letter to inform his son along with other readers of the New York Times about self discipline and how to achieve a good stable life like his family. The purpose of this writing is for his son to be informed of what can be in his future if he makes the right decisions. The tone is very informative and encouraging. This piece of writing is very effective because the author gets the point across to his son by using anecdote, proper word choice and repetition along with the use pathos, ethos and logos. The use of having an anecdote is effective in this piece ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... With the use of repetition in his words makes him use logos because it is logical to repeat important things to an audience to make sure they hear the important points. Stein repeats himself by saying the word "capital", and "self–discipline" along with the meaning of each to make sure his point is made. He says, "The common denominator of all these bits of advice is the invaluable capital of self–discipline; the self discipline to learn good work habits, the self–discipline to acquire education in a field where there is a marker for your skills, the self–discipline to make connections and be a good friend, the self–discipline to do a good job at your work, the self–discipline to learn about investments, and the self–discipline to learn to save." It is obvious "self–discipline" is repeated for a reason, which easily makes the point very clear to his son that having self–discipline is needed to be successful. Stein also says, "You do not wake up at 3 A.M. worrying about money. Most of all you have capital. That's the magic word. Capital– human and financial– lets you have an aura of safety around yourself and allows you to enjoy yourself and not live in a cage of fear and insecurity. And the first step and the last step towards capital is self–discipline." with the repetition of the word "capital" to also help get his point across. Considering Stein repeats ... • 11. Brunswick High. Emergency Procedures Brunswick High Emergency Procedures are located in the Policies and Procedures section. They are divided into 4 sections: Fire Safety Guidelines, Emergency Drills, Response to a Violent Incident (can be a student disruption), and a crisis policy. The fire safety guidelines were more about the type of equipment that could be used in the classroom, while emergency drills were broken into fire drills and tornado drills. Similarities and Differences The similarities between Goodyear Elementary and Brunswick High were the fact that: Both had a section in the handbook for emergency procedures that included fire drills, tornadoes, procedures for death, suicide, and major student disruptions/response to violent incidents, and crisis information Copies of the Glynn County Emergency Procedure and exit routes are posted in the classrooms, and Emergency procedures are explained on the first day of school. While the elementary school provided a short description of their emergency procedures, it stated that more information could be found in the Crisis Management Plan (also included in the Staff Handbook). What's strange is that although a crisis management plan has been created, fire drills were not better described nor mentioned all; not even the sound signal to look for. In the event of a fire, younger students usually need more attention to care and calm down. Therefore, it would have been helpful to cover fire procedures more thoroughly. • 13. Behavioral Techniques in the Classroom Essay Behavioral Techniques in the Classroom Very often, American parents complain that schools are disorderly and undisciplined. They claim that their child's behavior has worsened and the child is using vulgar language. Teachers, however, complain that students arrive at school lacking common courtesy and respect for authority. Because of this, instruction time is wasted trying to obtain order (Bennett, et. al., 1999). Student discipline is affected by classroom management. The way in which a teacher manages his/her classroom delineates the type of instruction that will take place in the classroom. A classroom in which the teacher takes total responsibility for guiding students' actions comprises a different learning environment ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The clearer the structure in the classroom, the more freedom the teacher can allow students (Slavin, 2003). Classroom rules are important in the smooth management of classrooms (Wardle, 2003). Effective schools ensure that parents and students know what is expected of them. Their written rules clearly define acceptable behavior and the consequences for breaking the rules (Bennett, et. al., 1999). Class rules should be few in number, should be seen as fair and make sense to students, and be clearly explained and taught to students. Class rules should become second nature to students (Slavin, 2003). Not only must rules be clearly presented to students, they must also be implemented. Students need to know that there will be real consequences for their misbehavior, not something that they will feel is not a big deal. The teacher needs to be the moral authority in the classroom and it is imperative that school officials and parents back up the teachers decisions (Bennett, et. al., 1999). Teachers who do not establish their authority in the classroom often spend a lot of time dealing with misbehavior (Slavin, 2003). Good behavior should be recognized and high academic standards maintained. Students must understand that good manners are not a choice but a requirement; however, teachers and other adults need to teach the students the need for self–discipline. If students continue to be chronically disruptive, they should be taken out of class ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 15. Reflective Essay On Spiritual Disciplines Throughout the semester I have developed an understanding for the spiritual disciplines; silence, solitude, and Sabbath; which has taught me how to live an intention Christ–centered life. The disciplines have not only helped my personal daily life, but they have also helped me better understand Christ himself. I can, without a doubt, say that I know that God gave us the gifts of spiritual disciplines to help guide us in the crazy culture we live in. I have gained a new appreciation for the maker of our world as He has gone out of His way to love on us, and all He asks us in return to practice disciplines and grow closer to him. The disciplines have have taught me that seeking God is about more than just saying a prayer before bed. Instead, it is practicing the disciplines and seeing His faithfulness through the actions. My practice of silence has taught me that the world is a loud place full of so many distractions. This specific practice has helped me seek God, in a deep way, by committing to listening to him in silence rather than wondering why I could never here him in the midst of the crowds. My practice of solitude has become a sort of Bible study time for me. A time to be alone and remember all the good our King has done and will continue to do for us. My practice of Sabbath has helped me start of each week with a positive outlook. Surprisingly it has also given me a deeper understanding of academics as well as it forces me to get my homework done before my day of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 17. Persuasive Essay On Child Abuse NFL running back Adrian Peterson's recent arrest for allegedly abusing his four–year–old son has once again sparked the debate over whether spanking is an appropriate form of discipline. Though some contend any form of physical correction equates to child abuse, there is a giant chasm between a mild spanking properly administered out of love and an out–of–control adult venting their emotions by physically abusing a child. At Focus on the Family we believe that parents have been entrusted with the incredible privilege and responsibility of shaping their children's behavior in a positive direction. Unfortunately, each of us enters this world with desires that are selfish, unkind, and harmful to others and ourselves. Spanking, then, can be one effective discipline option among several in a parents' tool chest as they seek to steer their children away from negative behaviors and guide them toward ultimately becoming responsible, healthy, happy adults. It is vital, however, that spanking be administered within proper guidelines. The reports about the punishment meted out by Peterson to his son, and the consequent injuries his son suffered, indicate his behavior on that occasion was far outside those boundaries. These kinds of experiences are why this whole issue is fraught with controversy – a child should never be abused. Properly understood and administered, spanking is most effective as a deterrent to undesirable behavior for younger preschoolers (but never for infants). ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 19. Accountability Of The Army Is A Integral Part Of Discipline Accountability in the army is another integral part of Discipline, Accountability as defined should be understood as responsibility plain and simple. When the army asks a soldier, what is your accountability? It is merely asking, who or what are you responsible for? It is the responsibility of the service member to have within himself the desire to care for anything or anyone that is around him or under his supervision. The great challenge that the army presents to all soldiers is for them to understand and never forget, is that accountability is never given or in other words it is not forced to be received, it is an offer is an invitation to remember and to withhold at all times. By nature, all soldiers struggle with daily written and memorized tasks, routines that seem to become tedious and nerve breaking at times, and the definition of accountability at many times seem to diminish in our minds from "I need to take care of everything and everyone around me" to "did I forget something that benefits myself". Three important words that easily identify a soldier and that it should make him different from the majority of societies law breakers, irresponsible, unorganized, immature, selfish, arrogant and pessimists individuals that consider themselves owners of the land that walk on it but are never willing to lift a finger for the poor, the needy and the weak. • 21. Persuasive Essay On Spanking A Child Ponder this; you are a parent with only a seven year old child. Your child continues to perform an act that you told them to stop doing, because they have already done it three times before. You have had enough and decided to discipline your child in a way different from a stern discussion. You decide to spank your child. Would you consider the spanking a form of child discipline, or would you consider it child abuse? Are you expecting your child to learn from this disciplinary action, or are you spanking your child because you enjoy knowing that you are in control and that you quite possibly may be injuring your child? According to Prevent Child Abuse North Dakota, "The goal of discipline is to create an orderly, predictable, stable, and fun world to enjoy and grow healthy." When it comes to discipling a child, there are many different courses of action that could be taken. Parents can and should discipline their children (Smenyak). There is a large controversy over the most universal discipline method there is, spanking. Many parents believe that spanking their child can be a beneficial way of correcting a child if done correctly (Smenyak). Other parents believe that spanking a child is simply abuse, that it does not work, or that "Spanking plants a seed for later violent behavior," says AskDrSears.com. One very simple word that describes discipline is training. A child is not born with the knowledge of what is acceptable or expected. A parent must invest their own time and patience while showing love and exemplary behavior while molding their children into becoming well behaved (Child Abuse vs. Discipline). Being a parent is a hard enough job already, but when it comes to being a parent having to discipline your child, it becomes much harder. It takes time for a child to learn and process new behaviors, and this is a reason a parent must not have a short fuse when it comes to discipling their children. When it comes to discipline, people will either agree that discipline is a crucial way for a child to learn the rules and gain values, or that discipline is abuse. Discipline is a parental response to a certain action that has been taken upon by their child. If a child is expected to do ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 23. Essay On Child Discipline Every human being has been disciplined at some point of their life. The term discipline can be defined as to teach knowledge and skills; however, it is often equated to punish and control in parenthood. The different ways to discipline a child has been a hot subject since the early times of the biblical period. Many states in the United States had created laws to protect children from child abuse. In the last decade child abuse has been on a rapidly growing issue. The goal of parenting is to provide a child with the necessaries and emotional care to further their physical, emotional and social devolvement. This can be a challenging task to meet because every parent has their own discipline method to get their child fit for the real world, so they can be successful in life. The five discipline methods are time out, Logical Consequences, Natural Consequences, Withholding Privilege, and disciplinary spanking. Although many parents believe that disciplinary spanking is the best discipline method for a child, but many studies shown that it should not be practiced due to acting out of rage and can have future problems in a child adulthood. The Effects Of Harsh Coaching Of Young Athletes Harsh coaching of young athletes can often steer kids away from sports all together, but if the coaches get it right, the kids learn important skills for their futures. At a young age, children need discipline in order to put them in the right direction for their futures. This discipline is found in numerous forms, and one of the most common forms is through sports. Guidelines : Guidelines On Discipline Essay 3: Appropriate Discipline Kids are tough resulting in the need for parents to be tougher but are the methods used for discipline appropriate for all ages? From toddlers to young adults methods of discipline need to change in order to teach obedience and respect. In a child's life they go through five stages which include; Toddler, preschooler, grade–schooler, teen, and young adult. As a parent, one should be able to grow and become better people along with their children. Well, when grounding a child for a long period of time may be too much. in addition to not help change the inappropriate behavior which was the desired result expected from the discipline. Patrick, a child Phycologist, said "at some point the kid is like, 'I 'm grounded for weeks, I 'll do whatever I want, '" (Sowinski). Instead it is recommended to "Use logical consequences. Some behaviors have no immediate consequences. In these cases, determine consequences that are logically related to the misbehavior. For example, tell your child that if he does not pick up his toys before bed, then he will not be allowed to play with them for one whole day" (Disciplining kids changes with age). There are lot of ways how to help our kids learn good behaviour. All we need is to understand and consider them, that they are not perfect and often makes mistakes just like we do. Here are some suggestions: Offer Praise and Affection Regularly. For example, my son, Andrew who is two years old at that time had drawn a squiggly lines and web–like scribbles on our white wall. After coming home exhausted from work, he met me at the door and very proud and happy to show his drawing. Instead of being mad, I composed myself and said, " Oh that is very nice, it is like a spider web, but next time draw or write it in a paper" as I had literally gave a paper and crayons to him. Plan Transition. Doing one activity to the next makes child anxious, we need to talk to our child so they knew what to expect. Give our child advance warning when transitioning into another activity. Example) "Two or more minutes playing with the blocks or dolls, then its' time to clean up". In this way, they prepare themselves for the change of routine and move on to another activity. Foster In the beginning of Celebration of Discipline, Richard J. Foster undergoes a thorough explanation of our ages' most desperate need; deep people. He proclaims how our superficiality and lack of common sense regarding spiritual life has crippled us and left us living in the surface rather than depts. He mentions how we have gotten accustomed to relying on our own willpower ultimately not containing the correct attitude or reasons for practicing the classical disciplines. Therefore, we lack the pieces of our inward and outward life as believers of Christ. Foster ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This brings the second inward discipline, prayer. Prayer is mentioned as one of the most central disciples due to its intimacy of conversation between us and god himself. Foster describes prayer as our ability to ask for change in circumstances, "to pray is to change" (P.33). He explains how Jesus often withdrew from the crowds to pray to his father. like so, we should withdraw from time to time. Our disciplines can coincide just as fasting does with prayer; thus being the third discipline prescribed. Fasting is the "abstaining from food for scriptural purpose." (p.48) and is said to be seen as a desperate measure for emergency. Foster goes deeper into how and why a Christian should fast, but mostly focuses on its meaning of self–control and its centrality being god. Foster's final inward discipline is the practice of study. Study is the focus to our total transformation from our old selves. It is a specific experience aimed to form Christian habits. With that, Foster breaks down study into four steps; repetition, reflection, understanding, and experience which ingrain those habits. In the second part of the book, Celebration of Discipline, Foster outlines the four outward disciplines. These being; simplicity, solitude, submission, and service. Simplicity as foster states is "an inward reality that results in an outward life–style." (p. 80) which is meant to live out. He says we should be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 33. The Importance Of Parents Discipline The Children How does one suitably discipline their children? Should parents discipline their children at a young age? When is it considered too much or too stridulous? Is it legal? A numerous amount of parents have stumbled upon these questions, but can't seem to find a concrete answer or are having a difficult time trying to discipline their children. Countless parents don't even bother disciplining and some try, but don't succeed. As a parent, one can verbally discipline them, or physically discipline them. Both are legal, but disciplining them too harshly or too softy can affect the outcome of how disciplined the child becomes. As seen in studies done in the past, disciplining your children at a young age can drastically benefit them as they progress in life, aid them succeed in school, and help them make wise choices. A majority of parents attempt to discipline their children, but it doesn't seem to work appropriately. As the majority of parents have wondered, how should a parent properly discipline their children? When is it considered too much or too harsh? A parent can verbally discipline their children, or physically discipline them. Both may work depending on how the child is. But, disciplining a child too softly or too harshly can do the exact opposite by making them feel as if they are not controlled by their parents or make them terrified of their parents (Ballard 16). It is challenging for adults to manage children's behaviors and find the correct lessons that will benefit their children. According to the research performed by Flynn (1998), most parents in the United States agree that "it is sometimes necessary to discipline a child with a good, hard spanking" (p.26). Socolar et al. performed research which agreed that "corporal punishment of children persists–roughly fifty percent of the parents of toddlers in the United States use corporal punishment as a regular method of disciplining their children." • 37. The Negative Consequences of Discipline One of the fundamental responsibilities of schools is to keep its students and teachers safe from harm and violence. Over the years, this has meant applying zero tolerance policies, which have encouraged and led to overcriminalization and the over–intervention of the juvenile justice system. This correlation between zero tolerance measures and the justice system has been termed "school– to–prison–pipeline". Zero tolerance has, for the most part, worked; but do we like how it has worked? Although this policy has some benefits, its biggest flaw is that it is disproportionately applied to minorities, a trend that is largely reflected and reinforced in policies. From a legal perspective, many questions are raised as to the constitutionality of applying punitive disciplinary measures to students, seeing that expulsions and suspensions prohibit and limit student access to education. Consequently, micro–level disciplinary alternatives have been developed, which aim to rehabilitate "offenders" rather than punish them. These alternatives offer a balance between discipline and the risk of overcriminalization, and include counseling, anger management sessions, victim–offender mediation, and peer judiciaries. One central question that is raised throughout this discussion is the objective of the discipline; whether disciplinary measures should be used to punish or embarrass students, or whether it needs to reinforce and teach them why their behavior is wrong. This then relates to the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Throughout our lives we make a lot of goals because we want to be happy with ourselves. The majority of the time we make a goal it's because we are motivated. We get ready to do anything it takes to accomplish our goals because we believe we can. But people set aside their goals for numerous reasons. I myself have set aside goals of my own numerous of times. The one goal that seems to bother me often is working out on a consistent basis because I feel that I am very unsuccessful in this category. Working out is very important to me because It's something I want to do for the rest of my life. Not only does working out make me feel happy and productive, I care a lot about what my body looks like. After reading Chapters One through Nine in Jeff Olson's The Slight Edge: Turning Simple Disciplines into Massive Success & Happiness, I have come to the realization of why people who are capable of success, never see it. He explains that there are small things we can do daily that will lead us to a life of success. In Chapter One "The Beach Bum and The Millionaire" Olson calls these things, "simple daily disciplines" (10). For these past three weeks I have been religiously practicing Olson's guidelines and my progress has been unsteady. My first problem that I have encountered while trying to accomplish my goal is, after about a week of my workouts I started losing motivation to continue every day. I felt ... You need to first accept the fact that the coach is trying to help you and improve your singing abilities. You have to get out of your comfort zone and work towards hitting that note and achieving that goal. Instead of you looking at the task as a form of punishment, you should look at it as reaching a higher ground, or going to the next level in your singing career. All of these things you must do to accomplish that one task, and not only will it require dedication, it will require discipline, not only for others but for you. Practicing mindfulness meditation and other mindfulness practices I learned to become in touch with my own urges and to control them through awareness and self discipline. So, here are a few reflections for your coffee time. As you sip on your deliciously made aromatic coffee, tea or hot cocoa accept these thoughts for your reflection. Finally, at the 3rd mindfulness class I took with Daniel, I decided to do the homework he had suggested to everyone, which was to do one thing we do routinely during the day, mindfully. That is to be with the experience of it and fully giving it our undivided attention. For example, if we chose brushing our teeth, he said, to brush slowly, feel every stroke as the brush moved around the mouth, what it felt like, the taste of the tooth paste, what the mind was doing; observe everything about that experience, while also focusing on our breath. • 57. Time, Work-Discipline And Industrial Capitalism In E.P. Thompson's essay "Time, Work–Discipline, and Industrial Capitalism", he argues how the rise of standardized time, which coincided with employed labor and capitalism, changed how people view time from how "time passes" to "time spent". Time became a commodity in which it could be bought and sold. Time that was not spent "properly" was considered wasted, which Thompson calls time–thrift, which preindustrial societies were not very preoccupied with in comparison. Thompson explores this transition of the sense of time in relationship to the Industrial Revolution, benefits and disadvantages to the new time–discipline, and a possible mixture of the old and new time– disciplines in the future. Thompson starts out describing how people measured time before clocks and the Industrial Revolution. People measured time in units of domestic activities or natural phenomena, which can be described as task–orientation. Thompson considers this type of time–measuring to be "natural" and believes that a task–oriented society results in little distinction between work and life. However, to people used to timed labor, such an attitude to labor appeared to be wasteful. When employed labor is involved, productivity in terms of time becomes important, because the employer generally pays the worker in terms of time. For many jobs, then a shift from task– orientation to timed labor occurs, as the laborer's time becomes the employer's money. Thus, a separation between work and leisure occurs, as ... • 59. The Effects Of Music Education On Mainstream Education Essay This research focuses on answering if music education has enough crossover benefit to include it into our mainstream education. Two scholarly articles, a blog, a personal story and an online article were selected and consulted to find the answer to this question. Many authors in many articles had minimal criticism of music education and most were in favor of music education. Findings were that yes, music education does in fact have enough crossover benefit to include it into mainstream education. Music education may be time consuming and sometimes expensive, yet the benefits of self–discipline, deeper conceptual thinking, more developed brain function, and endless creativity of students makes it very worthwhile. Henry David Thoreau once stated, "If a man does not keep pace with his companions, perhaps it is because he hears a different drummer. Let him step to the music which he hears, however measured or far away." People have different perceptions about everything, but some statements are simply fact. Though fact may be fact, opinion and perspective plays a huge role in our society, especially the education side of society. Everyone on Earth has experienced music in some way, but a question some have pondered is, does music education have enough crossover benefit to academics to include it in our mainstream education? As we explore the pages upon pages of research on this topic, it is to be found that music education provides more than enough crossover ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Prevention is best done by making company standards known and understood in advance. The basic objectives however is to encourage employee self discipline. In this way the employees maintain their own discipline rather than have management impose it. Employees are more likely to support standards that they have helped create. They also will give more support to standards that are stated positively instead of negatively, and when they have been told the reasons behind a standard so that it will make sense to them. Corrective discipline: Corrective discipline is action that follows infraction of a rule; it seeks to discourage further infractions so that future act will be in compliance with standards. Typically the corrective action is a penalty of some type and is called a disciplinary action. Examples are a warning or suspension with or without pay. POLICIES OF DISCIPLINARY ACTION

  • 66. Foucault 's Society Of Discipline With reference to at least three of the four thinkers whose work we discussed in class, and in response to one of the following quotations, write an account of the Societies of Control: "Everywhere the hypothesis of the self is beginning to crack" Defined as "the entire person of an individual" (Merriam–Webster, 2017), it is interesting to consider the different ways 'the self' has been interpreted through different societies. In Foucault's Societies of Discipline (S.O.D), a previous economy of power, it would have been simple to define the self – discipline "'makes' individuals" (Foucault, 1977, p.170) and in doing so this intrinsic sense of the self. However does this hold true in our current social scenario? Deleuze states that the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It was by doing this that the disciplinary self was created – "discipline 'makes' individuals", a phenomenon of the disciplinary era (1977, p.170). Our movement through the institutions defined our individualisation; normalising, examining and hierarchically observing each member of society (Foucault, 1977) – our sense of self emerged from their intersections. In Postcript on the Societies of Control (1992), Deleuze states the S.O.D have made way for the S.O.C. He mainly attributes this shift to the environments of "enclosure" (1992, p.4) – the institutions – beginning to crumble, and the factory – a typical workplace on the S.O.D – being replaced by the corporation (1992). In the S.O.D Foucault claimed that the soldier can be moulded like "a formless clay" (1977, p.135) – these rigid institutions formed us. Now without these institutions we lose this mould, and therefore our concept of the 'self'. Imagine if instead of pushing clay into a mould we placed it on a desk; it would be shapeless and adaptable. This according to Deleuze is a defining characteristic of the S.O.C; flexibility in our structures moving us from moulds to "modulations" (1992, p.4). These modulations are "a self–deforming cast that will continuously change from one moment to the other" (1992, p.4). Instead of experiencing these rigid disciplines, we are left in this soft, malleable environment, which constantly ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Your back pack feels as though its carrying bricks used by the ancient egyptians and you're on the march to the top of the pyramids to lay the brick in its final resting place. In this article I want to give you a view of discipline that you may not have thought of and explain how to implement it with your team. The process begins with simple communication and then builds in intensity of action and involvement by the manager until the person acquires the targeted skill or finds a new job. These progressive stages are designed to help the employee develop into an effective team member. They are not designed to judge or punish an employee. The manager must exercise compassion and interest in the welfare of the individual. 1. Communicate – It's imperative that an employee understands completely what is expected of him. Every action comes with disciplinary consequences whether those consequences are good or bad very much depends on your ability of discipline. Even though I have not been deployed yet, I know that down range discipline plays a huge factor on and off the battle field. You need to have the discipline to do what your leaders have asked of you. Whether it be getting your leave documents or listening to them when they tell you to get stacked on a door preparing to enter and clear the rooms in the building. Off the battle field discipline could be used in cleaning your room, doing your dishes, making sure your bed is made or even just making sure your floor is swept and mopped everyday. This also helps you in the aspect of being healthy. If you don't do your dishes mold can become a problem which can cause serious illness. So a disciplined life style is a healthy life style. • 76. Roman Army Discipline Discipline is the practice of forcing people to follow societal norms. This has been necessary for all groups of humans that work together. Even early Paleolithic humans worked in groups where some form of discipline would be necessary. Different methods and goals of discipline have been observed over time. The differences are due to varying military and political needs. The Roman army used discipline for advanced strategy in warfare as well as state expansion. Rome was a vast empire and sought to conquer many of the surrounding territories to acquire wealth and resources. They were constantly adopting and developing military tactics that would help them gain a military edge. One of these innovations was the organization of their troops into a checkerboard formation. This formation was very flexible and offered real–time tactical advantage. A unit could ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One aspect of guerrilla warfare is to cut resources off from the enemy. This could be done by destroying telephone poles, sewers, railroads, or water mains. Guerrilla fighters needed to be coordinated to execute these plans without the enemy catching them. The risk of such an operation was high because the fighters would lose if the conventional army directly confronted them. Discipline enabled the fighters to be able to focus on a mission and execute it swiftly and covertly. Also, the eventual goal in this conflict was to develop a conventional army. Guerrilla warfare was a defensive battle. It was nigh impossible to capture strategic points from the enemy. Developing a conventional army would let resistive forces capture new territory and forcibly push out the enemy. After years of discipline in the guerrilla army, the people would become well–trained soldiers that could be organized into a more conventional army. This aspect of discipline shares a similarity with the Romans. Discipline was used to increase the tactical strength of their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 78. Reflection On Mindfulness I have a somewhat regular, yet sincere contemplative mindfulness practice that helps me understand why I experience life the way I do both internally and externally. I get to see my own urges, those I'm not really aware of such as the urge to multi–task. This was our mindfulness ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I had to find out. Hence, this became my mindfulness exercise for my homework. Oh boy, was I in for a huge lesson in getting to know how I went about living life... while I stayed with my pita bread to heat it up I followed the instructions of my teacher, feeling all my feelings, being with the experience, being with my breath, etc. I observed how absolutely difficult it was for me to just do one thing at a time. I saw how I could not stay put for twenty seconds to finish this task. The urge to run and do other things was overwhelming. I'd leave the stove to get something from the fridge, to wash vegetables, cut them, put on music and so many other things while leaving the bread on the fire and rushing to turn it over in between all those other tasks.
