The Bill T. Jones
On Saturday, October 10, 2015 Bill T. Jones featuring the Bill T. Jones / Arnie Zane Dance
Company performed at the Richard and Karen Carpenter Performing Arts Center in Long Beach,
California. The title of the piece was "Story / Time" and portrayed Mr. Jones sitting at a desk center
stage throughout the show narrating personal stories as the nine dancers danced on the stage around
him. The Bill T. Jones / Arnie Zane Dance Company was founded in 1983 by Bill T. Jones and Arnie
Zane in New York City. The company is well known, and has performed at various venues across
the world. While their performances have ranged over a wide array of subject matters, the
company's ultimate mission is to encourage the collaboration of artists and ... Show more content on

The theatrical decision to remind the audience that the person next to them is measuring time
differently than they are, was a very smart decision because it added an extra level of interpretation
of the piece. At the end of this experiment, Mr. Jones then reminded the audience that there was a
total of 70 minutes of performance. When the show actually began, it started with a digital green
timer on the wall counting by the second, accompanied by Mr. Jones sitting at a desk with a desk
lamp. He began to read a story as a single dancer in a pink long sleeved top danced beside him. This
dancer was definitely the most memorable mover of the company due to her exquisite fluidity
within her movement, as well as the desirable synchronization between her movements and the
words of Mr. Jones's voice throughout the piece. As the performance carried on, the other dancers
performed various solos, duets, and quartets, of modern movement while Mr. Jones's stories carried
on.
There were moments where it was easy to interpret Mr. Jones's stories and see the correlation
between the story and the movement, but there were also moments when it was easy to get lost in
the movement and forget the story was even taking place. Although it could be frustrating at times to
suddenly realize the story had not registered due to the captivation of the dancers, it was still nice to
watch the dancers perform to spoken word. There is a lot of power in words, not only in what

Why The United States Needs Political Parties

Why the United States Needs to Add More Political Parties American politics have been divided for
years by two political parties, the Democrats and the Republicans. These two parties are the two
major parties in America and they are the ones that run the American government and decide what is
best for the citizens of the United States. On the surface it seems like a great idea to have two parties
that each have different views and can represent both sides of an issue, but is that really the case. No
it 's not. The truth is that a two party political system just can 't work. The Democrat Republican
fight has consumed American politics. The two sides just can 't get along and it has affected America
's economy and power in world politics. In order for America to become the dominant world power
again and strengthen its economy further, it should implement a three party or multi–party political
system to relieve the deadlock in Congress between the Democrats and the Republicans, while at the
same time allowing more and productive ideas to be implemented by Congress thus reviving the
American economy and making America a great world power once again. Lets begin by looking
how political parties were formed in America and gained so much power in American politics.
Political parties were formed at the beginning of the young nation (Library of Congress). While
Political parties weren 't officially formed

So we can conclude that the relationship between the 3–month T–Bill rate and implied 3–month

when implied 3–month forward rate of interest increased by 1, 3–Month T–bill rates will increase by

Some Terms of Healthcare Information Systems
Health Care Information Systems Terms
Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act – The Health Insurance Portability and
Accountability Act (HIPAA) was enacted August 21, 1996 by President Bill Clinton. This Act
provides healthcare for workers when they leave one employer to join another in addition to
regulating healthcare providers and the plans they provide to consumers and businesses. This Act
was revolutionary at the time as it confronted the issue of pre–existing conditions. HIPAA
compliance is often found in the hospital administration and admitting areas of a medical facility, as
this Act is designed to protect the rights of patients before, during and after treatment (Saleem,
Jones, Hien, Moses, 2006)
Electronic medical record Often referred to by its acronym EMR, an electronic medial record is a
patients' diagnosis and treatment history and is governed in sue by the HIPAAAct (Wager, Lee,
Glaser, 2009). An EMR is often indexed through both department–based and hospital–wide medical
systems, and are created using a relational database structure for ease of retrieval and analysis
(Saleem, Jones, Hien, Moses, 2006).
Electronic health record The methodologies and frameworks designed to capture health data and
incorporate it into an Electronic Health Record (EHR) continued to mature rapidly given advances
in database and Web development technologies (Wager, Lee, Glaser, 2009). An EHR will often be
used throughout each stage of a patients'; treatment

What Is The Dichotomy Between African Music And Dance
African music and dance invited me to take a thrilling journey this past semester. A journey from
surprise to skepticism, then from acceptance to appreciation. From the beginning of the semester up
till now, the way I have looked at African music and dance has changed and changed, with
characteristics varying and twisting about, occasional nuances becoming essential features, and
music and dance eventually becoming inseparable. This new understanding that I have of such a
deep–rooted yet underestimated subject in American history and culture has truly prompted me to
look at all types of music and dance from a new angle. But despite all that I've learned about African
music and dance throughout this course, we have mainly looked at the the ... Show more content on

When the music reaches it's peak, it dies down to emphasize the lyrics of what could be considered
the chorus, Kuti's mocking soldier commands, and the men begin to act out those lyrics through
dance. After two iterations of the chorus and a brief intermission, the music picks up again and the
women join in. For the remainder of the work, dancers are engulfed into a vivacious, free–willed
routine – all the while mocking the movements and conduct of the not–so–vivacious zombie
soldiers. After watching this performance several times, it was this dichotomy between free will and
submission that stuck out to me most.
Moving on to the purpose of this paper, there are a few particular aesthetic senses of African music
and dance that appeared more up–front to me in this work. Polyrhythm, which refers to the ability to
maintain two different beats – two different rhythms – simultaneously, was apparent to me when
paying attention to the different ways that the men and women were respectively dancing
throughout the work. While the men showcased a lot of quick and rigid movements like the
plantation dance hop–step, the women seemed to focus more on less distinct, fluid movements that
continuously bridged into one another. To me, the significance of all this is that as dancers maintain
two rhythms simultaneously, the focus is no longer whether their movements are

The Defense Of Marriage Act ( Doma )
In defense of marriage by John Corny, President Bill Clinton and the government were able to
approve the defense of marriage act (DOMA). DOMA is defined as the union of a man and a
woman which it was what mostly of the people consider to be right. The main question is if people
should continue this or change? The answer is that many activists have been trying to change that
definition. This changes has already begun in many states of the country , and those who supported
DOMA long time ago, are not able to support marriage today. There is one thing that has never
become different, it is how people think a kid is best raised by a woman and a man. However, today
marriage appears to be in a general agreement that is being complicated. ... Show more content on

Laws afford protection and equality to personal choices relating to marriage, barrier methods for
pregnancy, reproduction, family relationship, child care, and guidance. Homosexual people may see
self–determination on these aspects, just as straight people do. It doesn 't take an expert or the
government to be involved to understand the definition of these words. The authority and the court
specialists approve any circumstance. Authorized academics are widely unfavorably opponents. The
most outstanding constitutional specialists on this matter are "Cass Sunstein, Erwin Chemerinksky,
and William Eskridge" They estimate that DOMA or other long established marriage laws across the
states will be unwelcome and unenforceable as not in accordance with the constitution. In addition,
the actions of disapproving and eliminating long established marriage laws national has already
started. A spokesperson of the Lambda legal corporation which want to stop traditional marriage
laws across the states, clearly expressed that they won 't give up until the same sex or gender

Bill T. Jones
Our politicians toss around the term "the American Dream" loosely these days, but Bill T. Jones has
lived that dream. Sometimes the dream has seemed more like a nightmare, but the larger arc of his
life looks triumphant, a genuine fulfillment of American striving and ambition, very much in the
real, waking world. Bill T. Jones, byname of William Tass Jones, born February 15, 1952, Steuben
county, New York, U.S., American choreographer and dancer who, with Arnie Zane, created the Bill
T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company.
Jones rose from being the 10th of 12 children of migrant farm workers to one of the most notable,
recognized modern–dance choreographers and directors of our time. Through HIV and AIDS, which

Against Body: The Dance and Other Collaborations of Bill T. Jones and Arnie Zane (1989), which
the two men cowrote, examines their work together. In the wake of Zane's death and the death of
another member of the company, Jones (who was also diagnosed as HIV–positive) created some of
his most powerful works, including Last Supper at Uncle Tom's Cabin/The Promised Land (1990)
and Still/Here (1994). Jones has described Last Supper as grounded in his embodied experience of
race: "I would make a work that articulated all the questions that I have lived with. I would speak in
a voice that was decidedly African–American." His vision of the work as founded in an exploration
of black history was developed and enacted by a multiracial company that included several guest
artists, suggesting that the notion of "black history" is one that is necessarily bound up with other
histories and can be located in unlikely archives. The company included Arthur Aviles, Leonard
Cruz, Seán Curran, Lawrence Goldhuber, Gregg Hubbard, Heidi Latsky, Betsy McCracken, Maya
Saffrin, Andrea Woods, and Jones himself. In 2011 the company merged with Dance Theater
Workshop to form New York Live Arts, for which Jones served as executive artistic

How Did Cage Influence Theater Artist
Influence on Theater Artist and Practitioners.
Whether Cage directly influenced artists, it is difficult to put into context. Hence, one can argue that
Cage as stated in the introduction paragraph, made an impact on modern music through his
incorporation of avant–garde instrumentation and the idea of ecological music was dictated by
chance. However, Cage had examined the use of avant–garde music in experimental cinema. He
used chance, avant–garde instrumentation, electro acoustics, ambient sound, and silence in his film
scores. In addition, Cage had collaborated with theater artist/practitioners such as Maya Deren,
Sidney Peterson, and Herbert Matter, who were central figures in American avant–garde filmmaking
as well as experimental design. One can argue that indeed, Cage dealt with experimentation, and
innovation, chance operations, which is what avant–garde, is essentially about. Therefore, this is the
major reason critics laud him, as one of the leading figures of the post–war avant–garde movement.
It is worth mentioning, that other experimental, artist and practitioners inspired some of his works.
One such artist was Robert Rauschenberg. He was especially interested in ... Show more content on

Jones also viewed Cage's work as an act of composition, and the execution of the composition, as
well as the experience of the auditors as separate activities. Jones asserts that Cage had assigned a
higher priority to the author's intent or choices of presentation than to the audience's capacity to
interpret that intent. (Jones 7) It quite clear, that although these examples of these artist/practitioners,
theoretically, are not considered to theater artist, one needs to mindful that these artists such as
Cunningham, Jones, performed their pieces in a theatrical space. Therefore, the evidence now points
to that, it is possible for Cage to have had an influence on avant–garde theater artist and

Should College Athletes Be Paid?
Some believe that college athletes at the highest performing schools are better treated than others.
Although they do not get paid, they do receive some benefits for being athletes that other students
would not get. One advantage for playing a sport is access to scholarships that some schools reserve
for their athletes. Depending on the school and the athlete's performance, money towards tuition is
often given. Only some schools are willing to grant "full–ride" scholarships for certain athletes.
According to its rules, "the NCAA prohibits payments, beyond educational scholarships and
specified expenses, to the athletes who are responsible for producing those revenues" (Goldman,
Lee). This rule is a way to limit an athlete 's ability to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of the primary discrepancies is that the schools that make the large tournaments such as March
Madness, receive far more revenue than those who do not. Therefore, those schools that are able to
pay their athletes would gain an advantage over those that cannot. Furthermore, paying college
athletes comes with the added problem how much should they be paid. Or which sports will be paid.
The whole idea of paying college athletes creates many problems the NCAA cannot deal with.
College athletics for some schools are what brings in the most revenues in terms of category. These
college athletes that attend these schools are able to generate millions to billions of dollars from
viewers, sponsorships, and fans. "The 231 NCAA Division I schools with data available generated a
total of $9.15 billion in revenue during the 2015 fiscal year. But while there are 24 schools that
make more than $100 million" (Gaines,Cork). This data provides the evidence that the top
generating schools has the capabilities to pay their athletes, yet they do not. John Bill an expert
believes the NCAA should pay college athletes. Bill explains, "The promise of a free education is
not enough anymore if the NCAA wants to act as a money making business, and not reward those
who help make it profitable" (Bill,John). The NCAA has evolved to be a professional league on its
own. For the amount of revenue they will be earning it is comparable to the

Summary Of The Analogy/Dor Tramontane
On Friday October 14, 2016, at the Center for the Arts, George Mason, the "Analogy/Dora:
Tramontane," a dance choreographed by Bill T. Jones with Janet Wong and the Company, the first
installment in a trilogy titled "The Analogy Trilogy," bedazzled audience with an eccentric narration
of a conversation between Bill T. Jones and Dora Amelan illustrated in a dance taking audience back
into time during the start of World War II. Over the years, the Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Company has
provided audiences through contemporary dance many creations and performances gaining them the
recognition as one of the most innovative and powerful forces in modern dance.
The choreography of "Analogy/Dora: Tramontane," was more of a stream between being illustrative
and abstract. The dancers multitasked throughout the performance by taking sheared turns of the
roles as they skillful executed complicated moves. Most of the time during the performance, the
dancers held set of cut out portable flats(cardboards) creating various shapes and patens as they

They crawled through the jungle, the metal of their guns and equipment the only thing making any
sound in the silent night. Everyone held their breath, waiting for any incoming fire. Their eyes
constantly searched the greenery, looking for the shine of metal or the glint of a trip wire. By the
time the squadron reached the rendezvous, the moon had reached its peak in the sky. The light
washed over the company, showing eight men in total. Two were smaller, almost childlike, while the
last one was a giant bulk. They gathered in the center of the clearing and took off their packs, the
alertness in their eyes and the stiffness in their shoulders slowly rolling off due to fatigue. The men
unpacked their sleeping bags, ready to turn in for the night. "Keep your guns close," said Lt. Bird,
"and wait for the convoy." Grunts and muttered "aye"s were all in response as they turned in for the
night. They slowly closed their eyes, when a flare flew into the air, illuminating everyone below.

The Policy Process: Part I
Patient access to affordable health care is an ongoing issue in the United States. The first portion of
the policy process involves three different stages, the formulation stage, legislative stage, and the
implementation stage. Three main stages exist in the process to transform a topic into a policy
(Morone, J. A., Litman, T. J., & Robins, L.S., 2008). Coupled with the implementation stage is
an evaluation of all the stages to determine effectiveness and gather information for use in future

Years ago spending more on health care in result covering more people were the whole point. The

Three Strikes and You’re Out Essay
We live in a world of laws, statutes, and regulations. This society has to enforce all of it in order to

controversy and debate over it. Specifically speaking, the Three Strikes and You're Out Law. This
one law has many people arguing for and against it. Statements from many saying that it is unjust

On March 7, 1994, Governor Pete Wilson signed the Three Strikes into a Law (Jones). The Law has
caused a huge controversial debate and there are people that personally disagree with the law. As in
any controversial debate you would have the affirmative and the negative side. Let's explore some of
the positive facts that the Three Strikes Law that support the affirmative side. To start of with one
popular note is that it keeps the career criminals, individuals who commit crime as a part of their
lives, off the streets. Of course we want to keep the sex offenders, murderers, and rapist, off the
street so we can worry that much less for the safety of ourselves and others. Another positive is that
it is a deterrent. It is a very effective deterrent after the second conviction (Mersseli). If an offender
is released from the second conviction, this law will deter them from any crime, whether it is minor
or not. The thought of being sent to prison for 25 years to life is a pretty effective deterrent and will
have that offender thinking more than twice before he or she will commit another crime. One more
pro on the affirmative side is that is helps out the justice system. Let's admit it, our justice system is
not perfect and will probably never be perfect. Like everything else it has its flaws." The Three
Strikes Law is a way to provide fix for the flaws of our justice system

Bill T. Jones: Categorization For Post-Modern Dance
A wide array of ideas and concepts are used to determine the categorization for post–modernism,
expressionism, and formalism. Post–modernism is typically categorized by everyday movements. It
is said by some that one does not even need be a dancer in order to do this style of choreography. It
is similar to contemporary dance which is a combination of modern and post–modern dancing.
Expressionism is basic movement with the intent of expressing an emotion or feeling behind it.
Expressionism originated in Germany and can be easily identified when associated with "story–
telling" or the conveyance of an emotion. Formalism is categorized by very structured and specific
movement. Its counterpart could arguably be expressionism because formalism is ... Show more

You would not typically expect this in most modern dances because the purpose of modern dance is
to watch the dancers express and portray how the choreographer is feeling and the story that they are
trying to tell versus with this type of musical accompaniment, the choreographer is physically telling
the audience the story and the dancers are there to help illustrate it. Jones choreographs using the
tools of succession, deconstruction, and retrograde. The stage is set up in multiple squares. Jones
reads 70 of his own randomly selected stories as he sits behind a desk with 9 apples lined up in
front. A digital clock hangs behind him, counting upwards as time progresses. The dancers surround
the desk as they connect with each other and feed off of each other's energy and story line. The
dancers speed up and decrease their speed, mimicking the tone in Jones' voice. The piece definitely
represents the common theme that Jones usually depicts in his choreography by him describing the
morbid and somber moments as him and his families stare into his mother's casket at her funeral,
and how a landlord took a girl as well as the family's possessions. Jones' piece differs from typical
post–modern dance because he is able to portray the actual storyline in words and he has the dancers
illustrate the big ideas and points versus

The Role Of Institutional Racism During Bridging The...
The role of institutional racism in bridging the racial divide There is now an African–American
president in the White House and there is now no visible trace of slavery in America. Racism, in the
eyes of the majority is nonexistent. There is a wide assumption that minorities, especially blacks
have progressed to the point where job and income equality is no longer a debate. The majority does
not think of racism as a serious problem just because enough progress had been made. Some people
think that some progress equates to sufficient progress. However, that is merely a fallacy given to
sustain their sense of accomplishment. This false perception is embedded in even the most
conscientious when it is clearly evident that there still are economic, political, and social problems
that stop a minority from fulfilling their potential in life. According to a CNN poll,"only 49% of
Americans see racism as a big problem". The racial divide in the US has negative repercussions on
the country as a whole, whether it be economically, socially, or politically. The Bill of Rights states

free, as long as another 's rights aren 't mishandled. Basically, as long as you aren 't harming others
you have the right to freedom. Liberty doesn 't involve complete freedom because there are rules
and laws to help protect the rights and safety of others. We have a limited government meaning that
our government 's power is restricted by the constitution. In order to protect our civil rights from the
government, we also have the Bill of Rights. Equality is easily put as an opportunity for equality, not
absolute equality. Although, it doesn 't promise equal outcomes. Liberty and Equality work together
in our nation by giving everyone as close as can be to the same options. By balancing the two
together we can get many different results. All citizens have the right to make their own personal
choices and to have their own outcomes without having to be like others.
Does political culture affect politics? How? Or why not?
Yes, political culture does make an effect on politics. Political

Lamentation Martha Graham Analysis
We are made of stories. They define us and make us who we are. We are constantly being molded by
the stories we create ourselves and the ones thrown in our direction. As children, we watched
movies and read books about princesses, knights, talking bears, and even giant red dogs. We were
told stories from our parents about lessons they learned as children with hopes we would not make
the same mistakes. There are some stories that can not adequately be shared through words or
pictures. There is a purity and truth to a story when it is told through dance, movement of the human
body. The human body is "the instrument through which the dance speaks[; it] is also the instrument
through which life is lived. It is the instrument by which all the primaries ... Show more content on

There is freedom of movement, expression, costume, space, and music. Modern choreographers
strive to use all of these unique aspects of dance to spark the core of the audience's soul to connect
them to the piece. Martha Graham, who is considered the mother of modern dance, accomplishes
this concept in her piece "Lamentation". "Lamentation" was first performed on January 8, 1930 at
New York's Maxine Elliott's Theater. Martha Graham performed the piece at the premiere. The piece
consisted of a solo dancer, a bench, and constricting, muted, purple, fabric tube as a costume. The
simplicity of the fabric tube enhanced her dance by pushing the audience to focus on her movement.
The tube appears to act as the dancer's "skin" and as the dancer moves, pushing and pulling the
fabric, she gives the idea she is so stricken with grief, grief she can't explain, she is stuck and
crawling in her own skin. In 1932, Record (Philadelphia) gave a review of the piece saying, "When
Miss Graham in her 'Lamentation' depicts the dumb agony of grief she does not droop like a flower
or attitudinize like Patience on a monument, she is grief from the first stricken bewildered gropings
of her head and torso to the last moment when she averts her covered head with a finality that is
pitiful and terrible"

The Freedom Of Speech By The Bill Of Rights
While reading the chapter, The Law, I learned more about the amendments and what the ones
mainly pertaining to criminal justice actually meant. The First, Fourth, Fifth,Sixth, Eighth, and
Fourteenth Amendment all provide a foundation for our criminal justice system. There are also
many particular protections in The Bill of Rights. The First Amendment has many different clauses
that make it up and I would say that it is the most important out of the Amendments in regards to the
criminal justice system. First of all, the Establishment Clause ensures the individuals from the
administration so they can practice free decision of religion. It keeps the United States from creating
a national religion furthermore keeps the administration from advertising one religion over an
alternate(Fagin, 2014). The Free Exercise Clause denies the government from meddling with the act
of any religion, including particular ceremonies, requests to God, practices, and convictions(Fagin,
2014). The Freedom of Speech says we are allowed to say or compose whatever we wish, the length
of we don 't make an outlandish hazard or place others in harm 's way. Flexibility of discourse
augments past verbal and composed correspondence to different types of declaration like symbolic
speech. Mottos on crusade catches, challenge signs, guard stickers, and even boards are viewed as
an authoritative document of statement which is protected under our Constitution. The importance

The Rolling Stones And The Stones
The Rolling Stones Stones, a simple concretion of earthy or mineral matter, a rock, a building block,
it may be precious, or it may be garbage. The Rolling Stones are very similar to a pack a stones, a
pack of random men to play music. They first started as a small measly band that soon grew into an
international sensation. The Stones created some of the most widely known tunes and they also
created one of the most iconic styles of music, rock and roll. The Rolling Stones were defined by the
very famous founding trio, The Stones themselves, their extraordinary style and their gruesome
political troubles. Even with some hardships and struggles their success was quickly awarded with
countless music rewards.
The Creation of the Rolling Stones The group named The Rolling Stones took a very long time to
form and it all started with the founding trio. The Rolling Stones were a rock band formed by the
famous trio of Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, and Brian Jones. Together they recruited musicians to
their rock and roll group. The Rolling Stones Biography states that, "The Rolling Stones' origins
date back to the boyhood friendship of Mick Jagger and Keith Richards, formed in 1957." In
October 1960 Richards and Jagger ran into each other. They both noticed their enthusiasm or the
rock and roll and blues music. After the encounter Richards soon joined Little Boy Blues and the

The Silent Discount Dilemm Ppos
The Silent Discount Dilemma: PPOS In the world of health care finance, managers are faced with
many ethical decisions. This is often the case when it comes to the medical billing side of
healthcare. There are currently several billing schemes in practice that are under scrutiny by the
American Hospital Association (AHA) and the American Medical Association (AMA). One such
scheme is the practice of taking discounts on medical claims that your company is not entitled to.
This practice is referred to as a "silent PPO." To understand this practice better, it is important to
understand what a PPO is and how it works. The acronym PPO stands for Preferred Provider
Organization. A Preferred Provider Organization (PPO) is one type of ... Show more content on

Instead, customers are encouraged to use providers within the network through offering them
reduced rates for service. When a customer uses a provider that participates with the program, they
pay less in the form of out of pocket copayments. These discounts are available because the health
care providers within the network have contracts with the PPO stating the agreed upon discounted
rates the providers will be paid when they provide services for members of that particular PPO
(Gapenski, 2013). A silent PPO is what you have when a legitimate PPO sells its provider network
information to other groups or to brokers (Jones, C., Mills, T., 20060. The hospitals and physician
groups who have contracted with that PPO to provide discounted rates usually do not know anything
about this outside arrangement. This practice allows payors to receive discounts that they are not
legally entitled to (Jones, C., Mills, T., 2006). Any time a payor receives the under–the–counter
discounts on medical claims that the provider is not legally obligated to give, it is referred to as a
silent PPO (Speisman, A., Hachenburg, M., 2006). It is perfectly legal for PPOs to make the
information regarding who their preferred providers are, as well as the discounts that the PPO has
contracted with these providers, available. According to current law, it is also legal for the PPO to
charge a fee for this information. Brokers can buy this information, and sell it to payors. The

Arthur Mitchell, Bill T. Jones, Matthew Bourne, and AXIS are monumental
choreographers/companies whose work serves as a way for culture to express themselves. Arthur
Mitchell, born in Harlem in 1934, began the Dance Theatre of Harlem which provided opportunities
for African–American dancers. Bill T. Jones, who struggled with his position as an African–
American man, a gay man, and an HIV positive man, used dance to face these issues head on.
Matthew Bourne reinvented classic performances to become modern retellings. AXIS, a company

Intro To Choreography
In the second section of Intro to Choreography, we have started to analyze the concept of time. We
have been introduced to certain terms such as duration, repetition, and stillness. Duration is the
length and speed/tempo we are doing a movement. Basically, how long it takes to do a movement?
Repetition is the meter or rhythm. Repeating movements can alter the perception of time to the
viewing audience. Lastly, stillness is not moving or freezing. From observing my classmates first
assignment of creating a 15 second piece with 2 seconds of stillness involved, I noticed how every
duet incorporated stillness differently than the other groups. For example, stillness couldn't be done
at the beginning or end so everybody had to figure out somewhere in the middle to incorporate the 2
seconds. Some duets had stillness towards the beginning of the 15 seconds, while ... Show more

Jones retired from dancing and five years later he decided to story tell. Bill T. Jones was a huge fan
of John Cage's readings and really felt inspired from him in creating Story/Time. The idea of form

arose such as how to create a relationship with the audience if there even is one. Bill T. Jones seems
to rather try to appease himself than the audience and he wants to create something different than
what has been seen before by eliminating certain things such as transitions. He explores his own
intellectual, which was interesting to do and somewhat a scary concept to me. Bill T. Jones
inspiration from John Cage really shows but he seems to want to take John Cage's ideas and

Bill T. Jones explains how he is creating a menu of movements and trying to put it together and

Persuasive Essay On Gun Control
HANDS UP!: An Essay in Favor of Gun Control in America Andrew A. McKay Victor Valley
College Abstract Gun ownership is embedded in the fabric of America. The United States has the
highest gun ownership rate in the world with 88 guns per 100 people. This is a staggering amount of
firearms in the U.S. which our forefathers would 've never imagined when writing the 2nd
Amendment. The 2nd Amendment states that "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the
security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed." Not
everyone interprets this right the same way. Regulating and restricting the use of these firearms
brings up opposing sentiments from those in favor of gun control and those who oppose ... Show

America needs to institute, and initiate gun control laws throughout the entire nation. But not
everybody who inhabits the United States believes in regulating arms. Those who are against
establishing gun laws argue that gun control directly infringes upon their "right to bear arms"
granted to them by the 2nd Amendment. Anti gun control supporters, such as the National Rifle
Association, often claim that the act of regulating guns is a sufficient reason why such an
Amendment was introduced in the constitution; to protect themselves from any and all forms of
violation of civil liberties and freedom. Supporters of anti gun laws are unwilling to welcome any
interpretations of the 2nd Amendment that do not match up "word for word," as was written in the
Bill of Rights. Although the 2nd Amendment only contains one sentence, the interpretation of it can
be misconstrued if the use of critical thought is not applied during the analysis. Supporters of gun
control argue that the ambiguous language in the 2nd Amendment leads to confusion about the
interpretation. That in itself warrants further discussion about rewriting the 2nd Amendment or
simply eradicating it. Also, the provision is outdated and no longer coincides with the times. In
regards to the addition of "well regulated militia," guns were meant to protect people from tyranny
and any form of militarized government suppression. With that said, firearms should alternatively be
restricted from other uses with

Jones's work "Analogy/ Dora: Tramontane". I saw vibratory movement and a certain movement
motif of wobbling knees. I also appreciated Jones's use of stillness. When there was stillness I felt
that it amplified the dialogue being spoken and it created a sense that what was coming next was
going to be important. The relationship between the choreography and the dialogue shifts
throughout the piece. At certain times the dancers literally act out what is being spoken and use a lot
of pedestrian movement, while other times the movement is more abstract. Sometimes the
movement would interrupt the dialogue like when Dora disperses a group of thugs that were after
her father by telling them "he's not here". Immediately after those words are spoken the music
dramatically shifts and the dancing turns slightly chaotic. There were times where the transitions
were sharp, and other times where the dancing just flowed underneath the dialogue. A lot of the
choreography featured close movements and hand gestures that were simple yet made you feel
emotions. An example of this is when Jenna Riegel is speaking of the horrific passing of Dora's
sister due to a complicated abortion while I–Ling Liu performs one simple gesture that made tears
well up within me. Bill T. Jones knew that a holocaust survival story would not be something easy

Summary Of Analogy/Dor Tramontane
As the lights faded to black Analogy/Dora: Tramontane ended how it started, with a recording of
Dora Amelan telling a love story about the sun and the moon. This recording set the tone of the
performance by the Bill T. Jone's Company. Analogy/Dora: Tramontane is a story of compassion
and longing. As the story evolved through the use of props, music, costuming, text and dance the
message behind the narrative seemed to be "put yourself in someone else's shoes". Bill T Jones
seemed to be presenting the idea, that we should feel compassion for the lives of other, because on
the most basic level, all humans are the same, we all experience pain and suffering, therefore we
should all feel love for each other.

The movement started out very literal to the story that was being told. It was characterized by a lot
of hand gestures, stillness and walking. In the same way, the dancers' narration of the conversation
between Bill T Jones and Dora was separate from the dancing on the rest of the stage. However, as
the story evolved, the movement became for poetic, interpretive and full–bodied. The dancers often
uncontrollably shook different parts of their bodies, and stomped around the stage. Yet, there was a
sense of awareness among the dancers as they were constantly watching each other. The movement
was very gender–neutral especially in lifts and there was a lot of experimenting with the weight of
other humans. It is also important to note that language was the majority of the sound score for the
performance, and that the dancers began to speak while they moved. The tone of the narration was
mostly calm, serene and factual; however, certain phrases would act as a gateway to Dora's emotion
that would explode into music and dance. The contrasting and interwoven simple but complex
movement and music served to convey a lot of ideas. The idea of evolution returned through the
way the movement evolved from literal to poetic and the narration changed from separate to inside
the movement. Essentially, this idea of evolution in costume, props, movement and music allowed to
performance to not just tell the story but to become Dora's story. It seemed to mirror the idea that
when someone recalls a memory it is easy to become submerged in the thought and nostalgia for
that moment. At the same time, this conveyed how history is still alive, that the past is always part of
the present. The narration was not laden with historical stories that often can alienate an audience. It
was very personal, which allowed the audience to connect on a human level with Dora's story. The
audience was able to

Zora Neal Hurston 's `` Sweat ``
Delia Jones is the main fictional character in Zora Neal Hurston's story, "Sweat". A dynamic
character develops mentally just as Delia Jones does. She develops into a self–withholding character
who decides she will no longer fall victim to Sykes' abusive behavior. At first she was a submissive
individual who specifically suffered mental abuse from fears such as snakes. Even though this fear
remains in effect up until the end of the story; Delia's new hatred towards Sykes prevents her from
seeking any help whatsoever when he is dying from the snake bite. Another development is Delia's
purity involving religion. Lastly, Delia becomes a more outspoken person. For these reasons, I
believe Delia is a dynamic character. Delia Jones starts off as a healthy religious woman who
believes she found the love of her life, but little does she know that she will lose her beloved
qualities of freedom. This submissive quality appears two months after their marriage. Considering
she has experienced ongoing abuse for fifteen years, Delia has eventually had enough. I say it is
because of Sykes' irony that she develops hatred. Sykes' selfish demeanor is the cause for Delia's
weak state. He then goes on to humiliate her by saying "Ah 'm so tired of you Ah don 't know whut
to do.
Gawd! How Ah hates skinny wimmen" (Hurston 623). She is that way because of Sykes and then he

(twenty–eight state governors, fifty–four senators, and two hundred sixty–four house representatives
define themselves as anti–choice, as of December 6, 2014) (Who Decides?). Twenty–seven anti–
choice laws were enacted in 2010 alone, bringing the United States to a cumulative eight hundred
thirty–five anti–choice measures statewide (Who Decides?). The state legislature's over one
thousand bills restricting women's right to legal abortion services in 2011 alone and Congress' at
least eight votes against women in 2012 (Jones) are just further examples of anti–women, anti–
choice legislation being enacted in Washington. In fact, Congress wasted no time on its anti–
abortion agenda in 2015, introducing measures to ban abortions after 20–weeks on its very first day
back in session in the New Year (Culp–Ressler). This measure is unconstitutional under Roe v.
Wade, full stop, however, the unconstitutionality of this proposal means nothing to anti–choice
legislators. The fact of the matter is that this anti–choice legislation isn't evidenced in scattered
instances across decades, it's constantly happening. Anti–choice members of the House at the last
minute pushed to vote on H.R. 7 in January of 2015 on the 42nd anniversary of Roe v. Wade and
just weeks after multiple abortion restrictions were introduced. H.R. 7, called the "No Taxpayer

Financial Assistance Program For Health Coverage
Mrs. Jones, like many older adults, is on a fixed income, has Medicare for health coverage, but lacks
prescription drug coverage. She was recently prescribed a new medication by her physician, which
she cannot afford. As Mrs. Jones nurse, it is my responsibility to advocate for her by providing
education and sharing information on the multiple different avenues available to decrease the cost of
the medication prescribed. I will identify three strategies in which I can help Mrs. Jones afford her
medication. First, I will provide education on her insurance plan and explain Medicare Drug Plans
and their enrollment process. Secondly, I will identify a financial assistance program which she
might qualify for. Finally, I will identify different ways to lower the cost of the medication such as
coupons, drug discount cards, switching to a generic medication, and store programs ("Prescription
Drug," 2014). All of these options are a solution to Mrs. Jones problem. In the meantime, it may be
beneficial to obtain free samples from the physician 's office if possible, but this only makes sense if
there is a strong likelihood that she will eventually be able to afford the new medication.
First, I must assess Mrs. Jones understanding of her insurance plan. Is she even aware that she doesn
't have prescription drug coverage? According to Cohen and Villarroel (2015), "approximately one
fifth (18%) of the $263 billion spent on retail prescription drugs in the United States in 2012

David Jones
Executive summary
David Jones Limited is an Australian based department store chain that was founded by David Jones
in the year 1838. Currently, the company has about 37 stores located in most Australian states and
territories. The Australian department store industry is mostly dominated by large players which are
David Jones and Myers, alongside smaller and independent companies. The report analyses David
Jones's external environment using Porter's Five Forces model alongside the PEST model.
The industry does not possess major threat from new entrants due to strong barriers to entry and
strong competition for retail space. There is also a strong rivalry between competitors as limited
space is being contested by major players alongside ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
New South Wales, Victoria and Queensland are the regions contributing over 75% of the 18.9 billion
industry revenue. Westfarmers (Target and Kmart) and Woolworths (BigW) are the two largest
companies competing on low–cost strategies (Porter, 1980). Myers and David Jones, holding 15.3%
and 10.5% market shares respectively (Figure 1), compete on differentiated strategies targeting the
upper consumer market (Porter, 1980). Over 10% of the total working population are employed in
this industry (Productivity Commission, 2011).
In recent years, department stores industry has contracted since the hit of Global Financial Crisis
creating shock on consumers' confidence (Figure 2), despite Australia's narrow escape from going
into recession (Uren, 2009). As a result, the marginal propensity skyrocketed after GFC effect hit the
economy from nearly mere 3% in mid–2007 to 12% in late–2008 (Figure 3). To stimulate the
economy, RBA employs monetary policy by continuously lower cash rate since 2011 (RBA, 2012).
Although 2012 has seen some increase in the industry revenue, IBISWorld predicted continuous
decline until 2014 (Outlaw, 2012). David Jones announced in its ASX Release 40% decline in
profit–after–tax in 2012 is expected, partly associated with costs involved in its new strategic
initiatives (David Jones, 2012). Myer, David Jones' closest competitors, experienced decreased total
sales of 3.8% and stated in

Eliza On The Ice Analysis
section of his piece to expose the dancers as unanimated objects and characters instead of animated
humans with real bodies, emotions, movements (Day, 1990). Jones employs characters from the
Stowe's novel such as Eliza, a slave, Uncle Tom, Haley, the slave owner, Sam and Andy, two of
Haley's slaves, St. Clare, another slave owner who buys Tom for his daughter Eva, but refuses to
free him after Eva's death. In a typical modern dance, fragmented narratives are predominant
throughout the choreographic pieces. In Jones' piece, a fragmented narrative elucidates the character
Eliza in a section called "Eliza on the Ice" and Jones casts four women to capture different personas
of Eliza; the four different personas capture Eliza's facets of heroism, ... Show more content on

Jones released a documentary investigating his creative process. The documentary was released on
November 10, 2011 by directors Bob Hercules of Media Process Group and Gordon Quinn of
Kartemquin Films, on PBS as part of the PBS Arts Fall Festival. The most salient aspect of this film
is witnessing Jones' tackle social issues as a testament to his profound creative process during his
production of A Good Man. The 'good man' is an epithet for the great emancipator, Abraham
Lincoln, to commemorate his transactions during the Civil Rights Movement. Jones conveys his
unconditional love for Lincoln. He addresses that Lincoln was the only white individual he was
allowed to love as a youth. His unconditional love for Lincoln is justifiable by Lincoln's
determination to put an end to the immoral and discriminatory castigation of the minorities and
empathizing with those who were unethically victimized for their behaviors (Jones, 2010). The
image on the right shows the actors and dancers performing live in Fondly Do We Hope...Fervently
Do We Pray, a piece broadcasted in A Good Man in 2010. As observed, Jones manipulated his
choreography through space to capture the bodily movements at different the levels; some dancers
dwelling on the ground, while others accentuating the verticality of their bodies in an up–right
manner. This

The theatrical decision to remind the audience that the person next to them is measuring time differently than they are, was a very smart decision because it added an extra level of interpretation of the piece. At the end of this experiment, Mr. Jones then reminded the audience that there was a total of 70 minutes of performance. When the show actually began, it started with a digital green timer on the wall counting by the second, accompanied by Mr. Jones sitting at a desk with a desk lamp. He began to read a story as a single dancer in a pink long sleeved top danced beside him. This dancer was definitely the most memorable mover of the company due to her exquisite fluidity within her movement, as well as the desirable synchronization between her movements and the words of Mr. Jones's voice throughout the piece. As the performance carried on, the other dancers performed various solos, duets, and quartets, of modern movement while Mr. Jones's stories carried on. There were moments where it was easy to interpret Mr. Jones's stories and see the correlation between the story and the movement, but there were also moments when it was easy to get lost in the movement and forget the story was even taking place. Although it could be frustrating at times to suddenly realize the story had not registered due to the captivation of the dancers, it was still nice to watch the dancers perform to spoken word. Why The United States Needs Political Parties Rory Monahan Mr. Hubert AP Language and Composition February 23rd, 2015 Why the United States Needs to Add More Political Parties American politics have been divided for years by two political parties, the Democrats and the Republicans. These two parties are the two major parties in America and they are the ones that run the American government and decide what is best for the citizens of the United States. On the surface it seems like a great idea to have two parties that each have different views and can represent both sides of an issue, but is that really the case. No it 's not. The truth is that a two party political system just can 't work. The Democrat Republican fight has consumed American politics. The two sides just can 't get along and it has affected America 's economy and power in world politics. In order for America to become the dominant world power again and strengthen its economy further, it should implement a three party or multi–party political system to relieve the deadlock in Congress between the Democrats and the Republicans, while at the same time allowing more and productive ideas to be implemented by Congress thus reviving the American economy and making America a great world power once again. Lets begin by looking how political parties were formed in America and gained so much power in American politics. Political parties were formed at the beginning of the young nation (Library of Congress). While Political parties weren 't officially formed ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A journey from surprise to skepticism, then from acceptance to appreciation. From the beginning of the semester up till now, the way I have looked at African music and dance has changed and changed, with characteristics varying and twisting about, occasional nuances becoming essential features, and music and dance eventually becoming inseparable. This new understanding that I have of such a deep–rooted yet underestimated subject in American history and culture has truly prompted me to look at all types of music and dance from a new angle. When the music reaches it's peak, it dies down to emphasize the lyrics of what could be considered the chorus, Kuti's mocking soldier commands, and the men begin to act out those lyrics through dance. After two iterations of the chorus and a brief intermission, the music picks up again and the women join in. For the remainder of the work, dancers are engulfed into a vivacious, free–willed routine – all the while mocking the movements and conduct of the not–so–vivacious zombie soldiers. After watching this performance several times, it was this dichotomy between free will and submission that stuck out to me most. Moving on to the purpose of this paper, there are a few particular aesthetic senses of African music and dance that appeared more up–front to me in this work. Polyrhythm, which refers to the ability to maintain two different beats – two different rhythms – simultaneously, was apparent to me when paying attention to the different ways that the men and women were respectively dancing throughout the work. While the men showcased a lot of quick and rigid movements like the plantation dance hop–step, the women seemed to focus more on less distinct, fluid movements that continuously bridged into one another. To me, the significance of all this is that as dancers maintain two rhythms simultaneously, the focus is no longer whether their movements are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

DOMA is defined as the union of a man and a woman which it was what mostly of the people consider to be right. The main question is if people should continue this or change? The answer is that many activists have been trying to change that definition. This changes has already begun in many states of the country , and those who supported DOMA long time ago, are not able to support marriage today. Sometimes the dream has seemed more like a nightmare, but the larger arc of his life looks triumphant, a genuine fulfillment of American striving and ambition, very much in the real, waking world. Bill T. Jones, byname of William Tass Jones, born February 15, 1952, Steuben county, New York, U.S., American choreographer and dancer who, with Arnie Zane, created the Bill T. Jones and Arnie Zane (1989), which the two men cowrote, examines their work together. In the wake of Zane's death and the death of another member of the company, Jones (who was also diagnosed as HIV–positive) created some of his most powerful works, including Last Supper at Uncle Tom's Cabin/The Promised Land (1990) and Still/Here (1994). Jones has described Last Supper as grounded in his embodied experience of race: "I would make a work that articulated all the questions that I have lived with. I would speak in a voice that was decidedly African–American." His vision of the work as founded in an exploration of black history was developed and enacted by a multiracial company that included several guest artists, suggesting that the notion of "black history" is one that is necessarily bound up with other histories and can be located in unlikely archives. The company included Arthur Aviles, Leonard Cruz, Seán Curran, Lawrence Goldhuber, Gregg Hubbard, Heidi Latsky, Betsy McCracken, Maya Saffrin, Andrea Woods, and Jones himself. Hence, one can argue that Cage as stated in the introduction paragraph, made an impact on modern music through his incorporation of avant–garde instrumentation and the idea of ecological music was dictated by chance. However, Cage had examined the use of avant–garde music in experimental cinema. He used chance, avant–garde instrumentation, electro acoustics, ambient sound, and silence in his film scores. In addition, Cage had collaborated with theater artist/practitioners such as Maya Deren, Sidney Peterson, and Herbert Matter, who were central figures in American avant–garde filmmaking as well as experimental design. One can argue that indeed, Cage dealt with experimentation, and innovation, chance operations, which is what avant–garde, is essentially about. Therefore, this is the major reason critics laud him, as one of the leading figures of the post–war avant–garde movement. It is worth mentioning, that other experimental, artist and practitioners inspired some of his works. One such artist was Robert Rauschenberg. He was especially interested in ... Although they do not get paid, they do receive some benefits for being athletes that other students would not get. One advantage for playing a sport is access to scholarships that some schools reserve for their athletes. Depending on the school and the athlete's performance, money towards tuition is often given. Only some schools are willing to grant "full–ride" scholarships for certain athletes. One of the primary discrepancies is that the schools that make the large tournaments such as March Madness, receive far more revenue than those who do not. Therefore, those schools that are able to pay their athletes would gain an advantage over those that cannot. The whole idea of paying college athletes creates many problems the NCAA cannot deal with. College athletics for some schools are what brings in the most revenues in terms of category. These college athletes that attend these schools are able to generate millions to billions of dollars from viewers, sponsorships, and fans. "The 231 NCAA Division I schools with data available generated a total of $9.15 billion in revenue during the 2015 fiscal year. Post–modernism is typically categorized by everyday movements. It is said by some that one does not even need be a dancer in order to do this style of choreography. It is similar to contemporary dance which is a combination of modern and post–modern dancing. Expressionism is basic movement with the intent of expressing an emotion or feeling behind it. Jones choreographs using the tools of succession, deconstruction, and retrograde. The stage is set up in multiple squares. Jones reads 70 of his own randomly selected stories as he sits behind a desk with 9 apples lined up in front. A digital clock hangs behind him, counting upwards as time progresses. The dancers surround the desk as they connect with each other and feed off of each other's energy and story line. The dancers speed up and decrease their speed, mimicking the tone in Jones' voice. The piece definitely represents the common theme that Jones usually depicts in his choreography by him describing the morbid and somber moments as him and his families stare into his mother's casket at her funeral, and how a landlord took a girl as well as the family's possessions. The role of institutional racism in bridging the racial divide There is now an African–American president in the White House and there is now no visible trace of slavery in America. Racism, in the eyes of the majority is nonexistent. There is a wide assumption that minorities, especially blacks have progressed to the point where job and income equality is no longer a debate. The majority does not think of racism as a serious problem just because enough progress had been made. Some people think that some progress equates to sufficient progress. However, that is merely a fallacy given to sustain their sense of accomplishment. This false perception is embedded in even the most conscientious when it is clearly evident that there still are economic, political, and social problems that stop a minority from fulfilling their potential in life. Liberty doesn 't involve complete freedom because there are rules and laws to help protect the rights and safety of others. We have a limited government meaning that our government 's power is restricted by the constitution. In order to protect our civil rights from the government, we also have the Bill of Rights. Equality is easily put as an opportunity for equality, not absolute equality. Although, it doesn 't promise equal outcomes. Liberty and Equality work together in our nation by giving everyone as close as can be to the same options. By balancing the two together we can get many different results. All citizens have the right to make their own personal choices and to have their own outcomes without having to be like others. Does political culture affect politics? How? Or why not? Yes, political culture does make an effect on politics. Political

  • 75. Lamentation Martha Graham Analysis We are made of stories. They define us and make us who we are. We are constantly being molded by the stories we create ourselves and the ones thrown in our direction. As children, we watched movies and read books about princesses, knights, talking bears, and even giant red dogs. We were told stories from our parents about lessons they learned as children with hopes we would not make the same mistakes. There are some stories that can not adequately be shared through words or pictures. There is a purity and truth to a story when it is told through dance, movement of the human body. The human body is "the instrument through which the dance speaks[; it] is also the instrument through which life is lived. It is the instrument by which all the primaries ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There is freedom of movement, expression, costume, space, and music. Modern choreographers strive to use all of these unique aspects of dance to spark the core of the audience's soul to connect them to the piece. Martha Graham, who is considered the mother of modern dance, accomplishes this concept in her piece "Lamentation". "Lamentation" was first performed on January 8, 1930 at New York's Maxine Elliott's Theater. Martha Graham performed the piece at the premiere. The piece consisted of a solo dancer, a bench, and constricting, muted, purple, fabric tube as a costume. The simplicity of the fabric tube enhanced her dance by pushing the audience to focus on her movement. The tube appears to act as the dancer's "skin" and as the dancer moves, pushing and pulling the fabric, she gives the idea she is so stricken with grief, grief she can't explain, she is stuck and crawling in her own skin. In 1932, Record (Philadelphia) gave a review of the piece saying, "When Miss Graham in her 'Lamentation' depicts the dumb agony of grief she does not droop like a flower or attitudinize like Patience on a monument, she is grief from the first stricken bewildered gropings of her head and torso to the last moment when she averts her covered head with a finality that is pitiful and terrible" ... The First, Fourth, Fifth,Sixth, Eighth, and Fourteenth Amendment all provide a foundation for our criminal justice system. There are also many particular protections in The Bill of Rights. The First Amendment has many different clauses that make it up and I would say that it is the most important out of the Amendments in regards to the criminal justice system. First of all, the Establishment Clause ensures the individuals from the administration so they can practice free decision of religion. It keeps the United States from creating a national religion furthermore keeps the administration from advertising one religion over an alternate(Fagin, 2014). The Free Exercise Clause denies the government from meddling with the act of any religion, including particular ceremonies, requests to God, practices, and convictions(Fagin, 2014). The Rolling Stones are very similar to a pack a stones, a pack of random men to play music. They first started as a small measly band that soon grew into an international sensation. The Stones created some of the most widely known tunes and they also created one of the most iconic styles of music, rock and roll. The Rolling Stones were defined by the very famous founding trio, The Stones themselves, their extraordinary style and their gruesome political troubles. Even with some hardships and struggles their success was quickly awarded with countless music rewards. The Creation of the Rolling Stones The group named The Rolling Stones took a very long time to form and it all started with the founding trio. The Rolling Stones were a rock band formed by the famous trio of Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, and Brian Jones. Together they recruited musicians to their rock and roll group. • 95. The Silent Discount Dilemm Ppos The Silent Discount Dilemma: PPOS In the world of health care finance, managers are faced with many ethical decisions. This is often the case when it comes to the medical billing side of healthcare. There are currently several billing schemes in practice that are under scrutiny by the American Hospital Association (AHA) and the American Medical Association (AMA). One such scheme is the practice of taking discounts on medical claims that your company is not entitled to. This practice is referred to as a "silent PPO." Instead, customers are encouraged to use providers within the network through offering them reduced rates for service. When a customer uses a provider that participates with the program, they pay less in the form of out of pocket copayments. These discounts are available because the health care providers within the network have contracts with the PPO stating the agreed upon discounted rates the providers will be paid when they provide services for members of that particular PPO (Gapenski, 2013). A silent PPO is what you have when a legitimate PPO sells its provider network information to other groups or to brokers (Jones, C., Mills, T., 20060. The hospitals and physician groups who have contracted with that PPO to provide discounted rates usually do not know anything about this outside arrangement. This practice allows payors to receive discounts that they are not legally entitled to (Jones, C., Mills, T., 2006). Any time a payor receives the under–the–counter discounts on medical claims that the provider is not legally obligated to give, it is referred to as a silent PPO (Speisman, A., Hachenburg, M., 2006). It is perfectly legal for PPOs to make the information regarding who their preferred providers are, as well as the discounts that the PPO has contracted with these providers, available. We have been introduced to certain terms such as duration, repetition, and stillness. Duration is the length and speed/tempo we are doing a movement. Basically, how long it takes to do a movement? Repetition is the meter or rhythm. Repeating movements can alter the perception of time to the viewing audience. Lastly, stillness is not moving or freezing. From observing my classmates first assignment of creating a 15 second piece with 2 seconds of stillness involved, I noticed how every duet incorporated stillness differently than the other groups. For example, stillness couldn't be done at the beginning or end so everybody had to figure out somewhere in the middle to incorporate the 2 seconds. The United States has the highest gun ownership rate in the world with 88 guns per 100 people. This is a staggering amount of firearms in the U.S. which our forefathers would 've never imagined when writing the 2nd Amendment. The 2nd Amendment states that "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed." Not everyone interprets this right the same way. Regulating and restricting the use of these firearms brings up opposing sentiments from those in favor of gun control and those who oppose ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... America needs to institute, and initiate gun control laws throughout the entire nation. But not everybody who inhabits the United States believes in regulating arms. Those who are against establishing gun laws argue that gun control directly infringes upon their "right to bear arms" granted to them by the 2nd Amendment. Anti gun control supporters, such as the National Rifle Association, often claim that the act of regulating guns is a sufficient reason why such an Amendment was introduced in the constitution; to protect themselves from any and all forms of violation of civil liberties and freedom. Supporters of anti gun laws are unwilling to welcome any interpretations of the 2nd Amendment that do not match up "word for word," as was written in the Bill of Rights. Although the 2nd Amendment only contains one sentence, the interpretation of it can be misconstrued if the use of critical thought is not applied during the analysis. Supporters of gun control argue that the ambiguous language in the 2nd Amendment leads to confusion about the interpretation. That in itself warrants further discussion about rewriting the 2nd Amendment or simply eradicating it. Also, the provision is outdated and no longer coincides with the times. In regards to the addition of "well regulated militia," guns were meant to protect people from tyranny and any form of militarized government suppression. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Jones's work "Analogy/ Dora: Tramontane". I saw vibratory movement and a certain movement motif of wobbling knees. I also appreciated Jones's use of stillness. When there was stillness I felt that it amplified the dialogue being spoken and it created a sense that what was coming next was going to be important. The relationship between the choreography and the dialogue shifts throughout the piece. At certain times the dancers literally act out what is being spoken and use a lot of pedestrian movement, while other times the movement is more abstract. Sometimes the movement would interrupt the dialogue like when Dora disperses a group of thugs that were after her father by telling them "he's not here". Immediately after those words are spoken the music dramatically shifts and the dancing turns slightly chaotic. There were times where the transitions were sharp, and other times where the dancing just flowed underneath the dialogue. A lot of the choreography featured close movements and hand gestures that were simple yet made you feel emotions. An example of this is when Jenna Riegel is speaking of the horrific passing of Dora's sister due to a complicated abortion while I–Ling Liu performs one simple gesture that made tears well up within me. This recording set the tone of the performance by the Bill T. Jone's Company. Analogy/Dora: Tramontane is a story of compassion and longing. As the story evolved through the use of props, music, costuming, text and dance the message behind the narrative seemed to be "put yourself in someone else's shoes". It was characterized by a lot of hand gestures, stillness and walking. In the same way, the dancers' narration of the conversation between Bill T Jones and Dora was separate from the dancing on the rest of the stage. However, as the story evolved, the movement became for poetic, interpretive and full–bodied. The dancers often uncontrollably shook different parts of their bodies, and stomped around the stage. Yet, there was a sense of awareness among the dancers as they were constantly watching each other. The movement was very gender–neutral especially in lifts and there was a lot of experimenting with the weight of other humans. It is also important to note that language was the majority of the sound score for the performance, and that the dancers began to speak while they moved. The tone of the narration was mostly calm, serene and factual; however, certain phrases would act as a gateway to Dora's emotion that would explode into music and dance. The contrasting and interwoven simple but complex movement and music served to convey a lot of ideas. The idea of evolution returned through the way the movement evolved from literal to poetic and the narration changed from separate to inside the movement. Essentially, this idea of evolution in costume, props, movement and music allowed to performance to not just tell the story but to become Dora's story. It seemed to mirror the idea that when someone recalls a memory it is easy to become submerged in the thought and nostalgia for that moment. At the same time, this conveyed how history is still alive, that the past is always part of the present. The narration was not laden with historical stories that often can alienate an audience. Even though this fear remains in effect up until the end of the story; Delia's new hatred towards Sykes prevents her from seeking any help whatsoever when he is dying from the snake bite. Delia Jones starts off as a healthy religious woman who believes she found the love of her life, but little does she know that she will lose her beloved qualities of freedom. This submissive quality appears two months after their marriage. Considering she has experienced ongoing abuse for fifteen years, Delia has eventually had enough. Seamus O'Sullivan PSCI 1110–52 Due December 2, 2015 The War on Women's Health One of the United States' core values is the right to privacy, a right evidenced in the constitution's fourteenth amendment. This amendment, of course, is the one cited in cases of women's reproductive health rights, an issue as contentious as ever in the 21st century. With the federal government working seemingly endlessly to revert fifty– year–old decisions pertaining to women's health rights, one must ask themselves if such undermining of Supreme Court decisions is constitutional, and why it is so important to men in Congress to legislate women's bodies. With half a century of feminist progress behind us, one would think the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Anti–choice legislation stems from the primarily anti–choice makeup of the United States legislature (twenty–eight state governors, fifty–four senators, and two hundred sixty–four house representatives define themselves as anti–choice, as of December 6, 2014) (Who Decides?). Twenty–seven anti– choice laws were enacted in 2010 alone, bringing the United States to a cumulative eight hundred thirty–five anti–choice measures statewide (Who Decides?). The state legislature's over one thousand bills restricting women's right to legal abortion services in 2011 alone and Congress' at least eight votes against women in 2012 (Jones) are just further examples of anti–women, anti– choice legislation being enacted in Washington. In fact, Congress wasted no time on its anti– abortion agenda in 2015, introducing measures to ban abortions after 20–weeks on its very first day back in session in the New Year (Culp–Ressler). This measure is unconstitutional under Roe v. Wade, full stop, however, the unconstitutionality of this proposal means nothing to anti–choice legislators. The fact of the matter is that this anti–choice legislation isn't evidenced in scattered instances across decades, it's constantly happening. Anti–choice members of the House at the last minute pushed to vote on H.R. 7 in January of 2015 on the 42nd anniversary of Roe v. Wade and just weeks after multiple abortion restrictions were introduced. H.R. 7, called the "No Taxpayer Funding ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 147. Financial Assistance Program For Health Coverage Mrs. Jones, like many older adults, is on a fixed income, has Medicare for health coverage, but lacks prescription drug coverage. She was recently prescribed a new medication by her physician, which she cannot afford. As Mrs. Jones nurse, it is my responsibility to advocate for her by providing education and sharing information on the multiple different avenues available to decrease the cost of the medication prescribed. I will identify three strategies in which I can help Mrs. Jones afford her medication. First, I will provide education on her insurance plan and explain Medicare Drug Plans and their enrollment process. Secondly, I will identify a financial assistance program which she might qualify for. Finally, I will identify different ways to lower the cost of the medication such as coupons, drug discount cards, switching to a generic medication, and store programs ("Prescription Drug," 2014). All of these options are a solution to Mrs. Jones problem. In the meantime, it may be beneficial to obtain free samples from the physician 's office if possible, but this only makes sense if there is a strong likelihood that she will eventually be able to afford the new medication. First, I must assess Mrs. Jones understanding of her insurance plan. Is she even aware that she doesn 't have prescription drug coverage? According to Cohen and Villarroel (2015), "approximately one fifth (18%) of the $263 billion spent on retail prescription drugs in the United States in 2012 ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 155. Eliza On The Ice Analysis section of his piece to expose the dancers as unanimated objects and characters instead of animated humans with real bodies, emotions, movements (Day, 1990). Jones employs characters from the Stowe's novel such as Eliza, a slave, Uncle Tom, Haley, the slave owner, Sam and Andy, two of Haley's slaves, St. Clare, another slave owner who buys Tom for his daughter Eva, but refuses to free him after Eva's death. In a typical modern dance, fragmented narratives are predominant throughout the choreographic pieces. In Jones' piece, a fragmented narrative elucidates the character Eliza in a section called "Eliza on the Ice" and Jones casts four women to capture different personas of Eliza; the four different personas capture Eliza's facets of heroism, ... The documentary was released on November 10, 2011 by directors Bob Hercules of Media Process Group and Gordon Quinn of Kartemquin Films, on PBS as part of the PBS Arts Fall Festival. The most salient aspect of this film is witnessing Jones' tackle social issues as a testament to his profound creative process during his production of A Good Man. The 'good man' is an epithet for the great emancipator, Abraham Lincoln, to commemorate his transactions during the Civil Rights Movement. Jones conveys his unconditional love for Lincoln. He addresses that Lincoln was the only white individual he was allowed to love as a youth. His unconditional love for Lincoln is justifiable by Lincoln's determination to put an end to the immoral and discriminatory castigation of the minorities and empathizing with those who were unethically victimized for their behaviors (Jones, 2010). The image on the right shows the actors and dancers performing live in Fondly Do We Hope...Fervently Do We Pray, a piece broadcasted in A Good Man in 2010.
